"The seller on this site, Alex, seemed decent enough when I first made my purchase. I ordered 2 soundtracks, listed as brand new, and fortunately paid via Paypal. Upon receiving the soundtracks, they were both sealed in what I describe as Saran-wrap. Those of you reading this review and checking a site such as Otaku.com know what I'm referring to: it's the same type of plastic wrap that stores such as Gamestop use to reseal games and try to sell them off as new. There were no label seals on the soundtracks either, which Alex claimed was the way that these specific soundtracks were packaged from the factory. When I opened one of the soundtracks, the interior tray was smashed to the point that the disc was dislodged and scratched. Upon inspecting the other 3 discs, each had visible marks on the back, signifying to me that they were used, and not brand new as described on his site. After going back and forth with Alex over several emails, one in which he blamed me for opening the damaged soundtrack (which I was unaware of being damaged before opening it), I escalated a claim with Paypal. I received a full refund as well as a return shipping fee, the latter of which Alex originally refused to pay. In short, this seller was dishonest, had poor customer service, and tried to penalize me with the return shipping fee when he shipped out a damaged product (one he claimed to have inspected before shipping it out). I will not be shopping with him again, and I suggest others be careful if deciding to risk shopping at his site."
"I came across this store through Froogle when I was looking for an artbook from Spice and Wolf. The website was very easy to order from, and the checkout system uses Paypal which is safe and secure since it never reveals your financial information.
The artbook came wrapped with a cardboard cover around it and plastic so that it wouldnt get wet. SAL shipping took about 12 days since the date that I placed my order.
A couple of days after I placed my order however I found the same artbook for sale on YesAsia.com for $7 less but I had already placed my order with Otaku.com so it was too late to cancel. The shipping rates are lower on YesAsia.com and the products are priced slightly lower then on Otaku.com.
I would probably shop at Otaku.com agian in the future if the prices get better then on YesAsia.com (which they arent atm). The overall shopping experience was good but I always try to go where I can find the best prices without sacrificing service quality.

The cost of the item was reasonable considering it is a japanese import (about £25) and the postage was about £3.
Item arrived in about 10 days when the invoice estimated delivery at 14-28 days, so that's really good.
Item was reasonably packadged and arrived in new condition.

"I had a very positive experience shopping here for anime related items. I purchased five magazines and one artbook from otaku.com on Oct. 29 and had them arrive on Nov 2. (via EMS shipping to CA, USA) well under the 10 days listed on the order email.
The packaging was adequate (box, newspaper and bubble wrap) and the items in my order were undamaged.
The prices were a little bit higher than other sites, but was acceptable given that I had been searching for back issues that were out of print and in brand new condition.
EMS shipping is a little pricy, but the cost when purchasing multiple items was worth it at otaku.com in my opinion. The shipping price isn't difficult to calculate (no need to figure out things like shipment units, or price for the first 20g and so on) and is accurately stated on the order confirmation. I bought several similar items at a different website, almost paid the same price in shipping, and will get it slower via airmail. Plus the contact person at otaku.com got my order out the door that day with a tracking number (I loathe places where I spend extra money on fast shipping and the order processing is so long it nullifies the faster shipping).
I emailed otaku.com with a few product questions and was promptly answered in correct english with friendly, clear, and concise answers.
My only possible complaint would be less product selection than other Japanese export websites (they also have a policy of not stocking any items that are "strongly H") and perhaps pricing."
