"I've used Myworldphone.com twice so far, and have't had any issues. The reason why I probably haven't had some of the same issues as other consumers here may be because I only pick up from their physical location, I have never used them for mail order. Myworldphone is located in Queens, NY, so it is just a long subway ride for me. I first bought a Motorola SLVR L7 on May, 22nd 06. I usually check the merchandise in front of their faces, and pop in my sim card to make sure it works. At the time $199 for the L7 was an amazing price. I then purchased a pink Motorola RAZR as a gift in November '06 for around $160. I do question whether or not I got the official pink version, as the color was still a little more "reddish" than I would have liked. But they showed me a "Fuscia" model that was clearly darker so I assumed the pink model I got was indeed the correct one. Again, everything was pretty straight forward. I believe the operation is legit, I've seen mounds of product boxes and a lot of activity at their location. I would have no problems believing they probably do a huge amount of wholesale volume. One thing that is a little annoying about them for pick up is they only accept cash, but they refuse to give a break on the tax. I understand I can't expect this, but it's pretty commonplace in NYC for cash purchases at smaller businesses (especially cel phone stores. I highly doubt they actually give that collected sales tax in "cash" to the gov't. I've heard plenty of horror stories about these guys when ordered through the web, but for pick up so far, everything has been straight. From what I've personally seen they seem to have the business to move product in pretty high volume. I would most likely use them exclusively for my unbranded phone purchases, their prices usually can't be beat. As a heads up, their phones are unbranded GSM units, usually from Europe or Africa and have 220volt plugs."

"I purchased a Light Pink V3 RAZR from "My World Phone". I received the phone fairly quickly, the box was in worn condition, the ear phone was not working at all and the colors were mismatched on the phone itself. It was half "hot pink" and half "bubble gum pink". I tried contacting them about having the phone replaced, but for 3 days in a row i was told to call back at a later time and they hung up on me. When i was able to speak to someone who could assist me they said that since i was on day 5 of receiving the phone they would not accept a return because it wouldn't get to them by day seven. I tried to explain that i've been in contact with them as soon as i found out but they were giving me the run around. This is where the "customer support" person got very hostile with me and hung up. I am very dissatisfied with the customer service that "My World Phone" provided.

I was able to contact Motorola concerning the issue and was given the option of returning the phone or having it serviced locally. I decided on the latter and took it to an authorized repair shop. They said they were unable to repair the phone because it had been serviced before and had non-motorola parts in it.

I had it sent to Motorola for repairs. I'm not sure if they were able to repair but they sent me a different one that did work. They also told me that the phone's serial number belonged to a Black RAZR and not a light pink like "My World Phone" stated.

I would never recommend them to anyone. You're taking a big gamble with them if you use them. If the phone works you'll be fine, however if there are any problems with your order they won't care as they will already have your money.

"BEWARE - RIP OFF. These guys did not ship overnight even though the overnight shipping option was added during the purchase. It took close to 2 weeks to receive the phone!
Customer service is almost non-existent. They failed to refund the extra shipping cost. Failed to reply to 1 out of 3 emails. The online chat feature is a joke - the representative could barely form a sentence in English, and dropped the chat when he did not have an answer about not honouring their shipping terms.

If you are ordering outside of US: these guys won't ship by any other courier other than UPS (read: customs clearance charges and delays if you order from Canada!). Having an option to ship via Purolator or FedEx would have made a big positive difference. UPS customs charges ended up being approx $40US for a $200 phone, which according to UPS does not happen when the seller ACTUALLY USES the overnigh/expedited shipping option.

Overall, very poor customer service which almost outweighs the benefit of cheap pricing. There are better options: for instance, for my next order, I will probably use http://www.maplemobiles.com

P.S. Screw you, MyWorldPhone.com

"I has such a bad experience with my.worldphone.
I ordered Motorola V635 from myworldphone.com, and I lost my 62 dollars by just placing this purchase with myworldphone. They sent me the defective phones twice. Those two phones were different, but both had the same problems. The first one was looking like a used phone, its plastic covers had turned into yellow, there were scratches on different spots of the phone, and the other problem was that the back lid of the phone was not stable at all. The lid was very loose. I returned the first one, I wanted them to exhange with another one. The second one had the same problem - a loose back lid. Having a phone with a loose back lid was annoying and frustrating. I returned the second phone again, and I wanted them to send me another phone with a different brand, and I was willing to pay additional charges for the new brand, but they cancelled my order and gave me partial refund. Sending me phone with unstable lid was their fault. Thye tried to sell me the defective phone. I learned from the other people who use Motorola V635 that Motorola V635 do not have a loose/ or an unstable back lid. BUT I became the victim just for nothing, because I lost my 62 dollars by placing the order with this store, and I owned no phone at the end. Moreover, I had to pay the postal service price each time when i returned the items. It costed me 15 dollars too. On the day that they received my second returned item in mail, they reduced the price of this particular phone on their website.
In addition, my worldphone.com had very very poor customer service. They never replied my e-mails. The customer service representatives were rude on the phone, they did not help me at all. I had to wait on the phone very long time (20-30 min), and their customer service phones were not toll free, i had to pay for the long distance phone calls as well.
My recommendation is that please be careful with myworldphone.com. I urge you to buy your cell phones from somewhere else, but not from myworldphone.com, because with their high shipping rate of 35 dollars, the total price of the phone becomes equivalent to the prices on the other online stores. Pay a little more, but buy from a reliable stores. I do not trust myworldphone.com's business, and I do not trust their products either. This is the first time that I had such a bad experience with online purchasing. Myworldphone.com is not a reliable store at all. If you decide to buy a product from this store, BE PREPARED FOR THE BAD CONSEQUENCES.

"I bought my N91 from myworldphone.com in the beginning of may of 2006. The phone had firmware issues from the beginning which Nokia USA wouldn't help me with due to the fact that myworldphone buys them from outside the USA, and the phones are not intended for the USA. I contacted Nokia Europe and they would not help me for the same reason. Last night I tried to update the firmware via Nokia's web site and it failed, leaving me with a very expensive paperweight, as the phone no longer even boots up. I'm out over US$800 and nobody involved will help me. I will never buy from myworldphone.com, or Empire Global Tech again and strongly reccomend nobody else does either! Just look at how many DISSATISFIED customers are on just this review site, you do the math..."

"I purchased a Razr V3 and a Cingular Prepaid sim card with 250 minutes. The package arrived on time and was in good condition. However, the sim card was not in the box. I had to call numerous times to get through to speak with someone. You have to wait a long time even though their site says they are open 24 hours. When I finally got a person to talk with, I was told the sim was out of stock. If I hadn't called, no one would have told me of this. The Phone Tools CD is so scratched, it won't boot on my computer. I am now having a difficult time trying to contact these people for a replacement. Their phones are for foreign use and not for US sales. This is probably how they keep their prices down. If I have a problem with the phone, I will not be covered under Motorola as I was told by a Motorola sales person. Beware of this company. I will not do business with them in the future."

"HORRIBLE customer service. order two phones, supposedly shipped (included UPS tracking info). the shipment was not accepted by the recipient (which wasnt me as the phones never left NY). called to get refund, they claimed it would take 2 days. it has never shown up. i initiated a paypal claim and finally got a hold of someone yesterday when they told me they couldnt refund while a paypal claim was started. this is completely false (confirmed with paypal), and after waiting a second time they finally said they would refund last night, but of course it has NOT happened. Total scam company. when i cant get my money back for goods NEVER RECEIVED it is disgusting. pay more and buy from someone else."

"Purchased a phone from this company but was shipped a USED phone. None of my emails were answered. Phone calls were met with excuses and delays. Eventually got an RMA number and returned the device but never received a refund despite multiple calls and emails. Company lied to me saying the couldn't refund my money because I had an open PayPal despite (Paypal told me this was not true and they could refund at any time)."

"This company has some very good prices, but poor customer service. Everytime I call with a question they are always in a hurry to hang up the phone as if I'm wasting their daytime minutes. I would recommend this company to purchase the latest cell phones at an inexpensive price. However, if you ever have to speak to one of their agents.... good luck."

"This is just about the WORST online shopping experince I have ever had. This company has no idea what the word customer service means. They do NOT return phone calls or emails. Are disrespectful on the phone and are just out to scam you out of your money. The phone i received did not work correctly, and when i called the company within the 7 days, i was waiting on hold for two hours before someone even picked up. I can get the phone bill to prove it! I even wrote them an email saying that if they didn't respond I was going to the better business bureau. They again ignored me. I have mailed back the phone, and still no response from them. I lost ALOT of money buying a phone that didn't work and now I don't have. Don't make my mistake!!! It is NOT WORTH buying from this company."

"I had a very bad experience with www.myworldphone.com. It was my first purchase so I did not know anything about them. I was looking for a Sony Ericsson w800i cell phone, and they seemed to have the lowest price. I called ahead to check whether the phone was in stock , shipping details, etc. Finally, I made the payment through PayPal.

In two days, as promised the phone arrived around 6 p.m. As I opened the package, I noticed the plastic box for the phone had some scratches outside. Moreover, the box did not have any kind of seal (they say they need to open all phones to "inspect" them).

Anyway,I opened the box and took out the phone. I noticed right away that the battery cover had two cracks on the bends and did not fit over the battery compartment. It was a major defect, and the phone was useless unless the battery cover slid over perfectly over the battery compartment.

Extremely disappointed - since I had been looking forward for days to using the phone - I immediately called their sales/service number but got the message that the store was closed. I sent an email within fifteen minutes of receiving the phone describing the problem and asking for a replacement.

The next day, I receive a reply saying, 'we have been in business for years and this is the first time we have heard of such a problem.' I was shocked beyond my wits. I have bought elactronic goods including laptops, camcorders and other stuff worth thousands of dollars online, and I have never had to deal with such rudeness. My calls to their sales/service numbers got the same response.

To cut a long story short, after countless emails and phones, they asked me to send back the phone. It took them a month to find a replacement battery cover (they refused to replace the phone). The phone has been working OK so far. But I am so jittery after my experience with them that I strongly advise everybody to stay away.

"This company is selling through their web site (and Paypal) items that they do not carry, and once you placed the order there is nothing they will do. For instance Cingular Pre-paid SIM cards still listed on their web site with a direct Paypal link. http://myworldphone.com/prepaidsim.html

Call them and ask to purchase one, I just did and they were going to sell me one again!

After the order is placed and they send you the other items placed with the order and you contact them, they cannot locate your transaction and tell you that they will contact you in two weeks (Two cents question: How would they contact you if they have no trace of the transaction? They have no answer to that and hang up on you).

Mistake: filing a complaint with Paypal. Although MyWorldPhone.com ripped you off, and won't rectify your order (refund or send you another item) a mistake you can do is going to Paypal. Paypal will not do anything for you either, just notify the Seller that there is a complaint, drop the complaint for a reason that does not apply to the situation (in my case "Item not as described"... which is not the reason I invoked but this is the reason that Paypal uses to deem the complaint not worth investigating) and from there, when you contact the Seller again MyWorldPhone.com will indeed locate your order in their system when you call them, but refuse to do anything because you filed a complaint with Paypal (even though Paypal rejected and closed the dispute).

So, MyWorldPhone.com still has the money, Paypal has the transaction fee on the whole transaction, and you can't do anything. Thankfully for me this was only a $16 item but I would never trust a company with such business practices or terrible (non existant) customer service. If you purchase through Ebay you might have a layer of protection but dealing through their web site you have none.
