"I wish i had seen the review here that someone posted regarding Modchip.ca not placing notifications on their website about products being out of stock before i placed my order.

I Ordered 3 Acekard 2i cards, and 3 2Gb Kingston MicroSD cards from them on April 4th. I chose their site because of them being Canadian, and that they offered a discount on bulk purchases of AK2i cards.

after making an account and placing my order, i received my order number as though everything was fine.. but the next day i got an email stating that the AK2i cards were out of stock and was offered IMO, an inferior product as a replacement.

I replied that i did not want the alternative, but wanted to know when the AK2is would be in stock and asked if they would replace them with M3i cards or overnight ship the AK2i's when they came in.

I got no response after nearly a full business day passed, so i emailed again.. and even wound up calling their store to get an answer. I was told that they would not do the substitution i asked about and they would let me know about the AK2i's the next day and that they would have a definite date when they would be availible. (while i was on the phone i received an email from them replying to my 2 emails)

the next day they replied that the product would be in "soon".. I sent another email asking if they had an exact date, and also mentioned again, that if it was only going to be a week then i would wait and asked if they could overnight them to me due to the mix up.. no reply since..

My main issue with them is that they state on their site "to your door in 18 - 48 hours" and this MAY be true if your order is in stock.. and it wouldnt even be a big deal if it was listed as otherwise.. but nowhere on the AK2i page, or on their news page did it state that these were not in stock. and as far as it goes, had it been listed as such, i would have gone elsewhere to get them.

since reading the previous review that mentioned the same issue I even checked the obscure backorder page they have (one that they do not have a link to on their own page i might add) and it wasn't listed there either.. In fact, they are STILL not listed as out of stock on their site at this point in time.

to summarize, once i get my order, i dont think i will use them again, unless i call first and am assured that the products are in stock before paying for them.

edit 9/4/10 - after posting this review and it was in pending status i received an email that due to human error, my order of Acekard2is was mistakenly placed in the backorder pile because it was mistakenly thought that i orderd iEdge cards, and that they had the AK2is in stock from the beginning.. I was also offered my shipping refunded for the mix up ($9.95 CDN) IF i agreed to remove my negative comments in this review.

I declined the offer as there were ample opportunities to rectify this issue before this amount of time had passed.. moreso considering everywhere on the order sheets, and emails "Acekard2i" is clearly written, NOT "iEdge".. even if it was sorted out when i called them it would be fine, or if i was offered the overnight shipping that i inquired about due to the issue.. but as it sits i still have to wait at least another few days (givin the weekend starting) for my order on top of the 5 waited so far because of this.

edit 13/04 - received my order today, along with another email from Rob telling me that the items i was waiting on were due in today.. further miscommunication within the company is still continuing i guess.

the Acekard 2is (and MicroSD cards)were in working order, and NOT clones (verified by looking at the acekard website and their detailed pictures on how to spot clones) my only complaint would be that all 3 of the acekard boxes were broken open in the shipping envelope.. whether this is how they were shipped, or something that happened in shipping is unknown.. after updating with current 1.4 firmware they all work great in my DSi and DSL.

"I was disappointed after purchasing from this company. I ordered a R4 Ultra from them on March, 16, 2010. Shipping was prompt and I had the item in a few days. The problem was that upon testing the R4 out I discovered that it would not play any recently released games like "Mario and Luigi Bowser's inside story". Older games released a year or more ago worked just fine. Cheats I downloaded from gbatemp.net (a reputable cheats site) didn't work for many games especially those that came later in the alphabet like "Yoshi's Island”. At first I thought my R4 was defective since the product description on the company’s site guaranteed full rom and cheat support, but after doing a bit of research online I discovered that the original R4 makers had disbanded in 2008 and that the "R4 Ultra" which I had purchased was really a "clone" and it was made by people to just capitalise on the R4 name. This "clone" had not been updated to play any recent games or include full cheat support and the firmware the developers had on their web site was basically taken from the 2008 firmware the original developers had released. After discovering this I realized that complaining that my R4 was defective to the company was useless since they are all like that and getting a replacement wouldn’t mean anything. According to their product returns policy, they don’t offer refunds. Most of the blame should go to me for blindly trusting a company’s product description and not doing any background research prior to my purchase but the company should also have reviewed its products and made sure they worked as advertised. I feel pretty ripped off since I already own a first generation flash cart that plays the older games and had only purchased this second generation cart to play the newer games. A warning to future buyers, do not buy anything with “R4” in it if you want to play the latest roms. I’m looking around for an acekard since I’ve found out that it can play all the new games and is updated regularly by its developers."

"i purchased the Acekard 2i on 28sep09 and it was sent out promptly, however when i received it, the card did not work in my DS. i was asked to send it back and another one would be sent it when they received it. i had to send it back at my own cost $10, and received the 2nd one promptly as well, however it was very upsetting that this one also had a defect. the micro chip did not stay in the card, so again i was asked to send it back and they would sent out another one, however i was very upset now as i paid for the initial card $10 for a total cost of $52, now having to send back 2 cards has now cost me another $20 for a total of $72... when i called to say that i do not feel i should have to pay for the 2nd postage as it was their fault that the card did not work and it should have been checked before being sent out, they said they would look into putting a credit on my account for my next purchase. well that's great, however there may not be another purchase... not great customer service!!!! the right thing to do would have been to send me a new card with a post marked envelope and have me send it back at their cost not mine !!!!"

"Overall, a good website, but I have to say to all buyers, be CAREFUL. I ordered two items on September 28. According to each individual products' listing, both items were in stock and ready to ship. After waiting over a week without contact, I had to use the ticket system to find out what happened.

The website doesn't tell you upfront (on the product page) that your item could be back-ordered. Now if I want to cancel my order, I have to pay a fee. Instead, they have it listed on a separate "back order page", which was impossible to locate until I was given a direct link.

I have used this company in the past without issue, but not clearly revealing something as back ordered on the product's page isn't fair to the customers, since I would've taken my business elsewhere for the items that aren't in stock. At the VERY least, put an easy to find link for the back order page.

"Anybody can sell a product. The real difference is in customer service. At which this company fails.
I got a product that didn't work. I went the the web site and was directed to register with a helpdesk system. (over a simple product replacement)
I registered, I submitted a ticket; and heard nothing from them. I replyed to a previous email in order to notify them that I received a defective product. Their reply was simply, "What's the helpdeskt ticket number". I was unable to log into their helpdesk system to get the ticket number because there helpdesk was down. I informed them of such. Their reply was to register with there helpdesk and submit a ticket.

Three days of correspondance (not counting the weekend after submitting a helpdesk ticket) and I'm still no closer to a replacement or a refund.

Never again will I do business with this company and I'm so infuriated I'm finding every website that will allow me to post my experience with this company.

"I made an order , from london , and the item arrived promptly and in perfect condition.

"I am editing this review now, as I have seen the problem to lie in the POSTAL SERVICE.

Although a slight fault on the company's side at first, after letting them know my aggravation they did in fact get on it very quickly to get it resolved.

The postal service has messed up somehow twice, not delivering it to the locations I provided.
And having sent it back to Modchip.ca BEFORE the send-back date.

"Excellent company! I'll admit I was a bit skeptical about ordering from a Canadian company at first, but I am now a believer. They are super fast at responding to emails! I had an issue where the USPS messed up delivery to my apartment and accidentally returned to sender, Modchip filed for a postage refund for me and resent it out to a different (so USPS couldn't mess up this time) address as soon as the package was returned to them. And to boot they didn't charge me anything extra! Why order from some sketchy Chinese company when you can buy them from a reliable North American company (duty free to US) that has everything you need at the same price as those other guys. I'd highly recommend them to anyone else needing anything xbox 360, or mod related, they're the best. Will definitely buy from again."
