"Absolutely an awful establishment. I recommend to use one of the many other stores available which provide at least decent service. When I placed an order with them online, my order confirmation at the time was fine, but they ended up doubling the order (no I did not click send twice, I've been ordering online for 14 years and never had an ordering problem). The associates I spoke with were quite rude and unhelpful, and of course blamed me and even hung up on me; management did not contact me after I was promised they would (I also e-mailed multiple people in the company without a single response). Now I am stuck with a doubled order (FedEX left it all in front of my door without a signature), and at this point I guess all I can do is dispute the charge with AMEX. Also, I just bought a $300 bookcase from Amazon instead of using ATG stores, so congratulations on the lost business ATG!!! I also need to buy a bed, bed-stands, secretary's desk, and some other furniture, all of which I will not be buying with ATG of course (fool me once and all). As you can tell, I am quite fed up with them at this point, and only want to waste my time now on buyer beware reviews (yes, I have a vendetta now). Anyway, I hope this review causes possible ATG customers hesitation before ordering with this company."

"They don't honor price protection. (I found it 25% cheaper somewhere else) They don't have hassle free returns. (They make you pay a 25% restocking fee) They emailed me 2 delayed shipping dates, and when I went to cancel it (2 weeks before the estimated shipping), they said a day later it was shipped. They never provided me with a shipping notification email or tracking number, then 2 days later provided me with a tracking number that was false. THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM. Customer service was horrible.
BEWARE. This happened twice-- on two separated occasions.

"I bought a light fixture for one of my clients. I installed it and the ballast went out the first week. Not to mention the brokn bulbs I had to replace. I spent $134.00 for the light. I bought a ballast for $50.00, bulbs were $20.00. I had to pay someone to install it twice so I lost a lot of money because of these a**holes!! I asked for some help on this and they told me to go away."

"Terrible customer service. I ordered 2 lights from them. One showed up with missing parts and it took 3 phone calls and finally speaking to a manager to get my replacement parts. The original call was placed to return the other item that was broken. The rep put in the notes I said it didn't fit, so now I am responsible for return shipping. Have been waiting for an RGA # for over a month. I will be calling my CC company to reverse the charges and will be filing a complaint with BBB. Reps are very rude and argumentative. Not worth saving a couple bucks to shop here."

"I placed several orders previously without any problems. On Friday I ordered a ceiling fan and by Saturday I noticed that they dropped the price. I called to see if they would do a price adjustment, which they wouldn't so I canceled that order and re-ordered it along with additional fan. Of course they immediately charged my card and have not received the credit for the first order. Today I received confirmation that the first order was shipped. When I called to find out what happened I got a very unhelpful rep. who basically can do nothing. So I am going to receive two of the same items and I have to pay to return the item. What a waste of time and now money. I have planned to order my living room and dining room fixtures next, but no way....not from them!"

"I'm not getting any service from this reseller. I ordered a lamp nearly two weeks ago, and I still can't get any information on whether or not I'm ever going to receive this lamp. Their emails to me are inaccurate and incomplete and the online chat is not operational. Their call center has no information about the order status at all.

I've asked for a follow-up email or call, but they will not make any effort to do this.

I'm done with this reseller.

"I have no idea why people are complaining. I bought a vanity light and it showed up with one of the glass shades broken during shipment. I called and the rep (Jordan) ordered a replacement with no hassles whatsoever. The product itself is not as great as I thought it would be, but ATG had a good price and their customer service was excellent."

"UNACCEPTABLE; DON'T USE! I ordered 4 expensive identical outside fixtures 2 were 12.5" high, 2 were 21.5" high. The manufacturer shipped the two sale 21.5" fixtures; the same day I was informed by Lighting Universe that the manufacturer did not have the 12.5" fixtures and they would not be available for at least 2 months. I called Lighting Universe customer service 3 times; the only action they would take was to call the manufacturer. Each time I said we cannoty use just 2 fixtures; we want 4 or none.They said I would have to take it up after the 21.5" fixtures were delivered. They were unwilling assist us and essentially ignored the issue. I refused delivery of the 2 fixtures; now I will have to dispute the credit card charge. They were UNWILLING to do anything and blamed it on the manufacturer. Bit I had a contract with them!"

"Don't shop here. Their customer service is awful. I bought a pendant light from them for $102 and a week later they reduced the price to $35. I called to request a refund for the difference and they said no. Most other stores would honor this sort of thing. I won't shop here again. Clearly a rip-off."

"This company is extremely frustrating to deal with and quite frankly walk a fine line between fraud and misleading information. I placed a large lighting order in Sept 2010, all items I ordered had estimated ship dates within a month - great...then I started getting emails saying delayed shipping. I now have two of the lights not being able to be produced and shipped until May 2011, that makes it 9 months from taking my money. Call the company - I want to cancel - oh it will take 5 days to process that because we have to confirm with the manufacturer - wait a minute here - I don't have a contract with the manufacturer, I have a contract with ATG, and ATG hasn't been able to deliver my product - plain and simple. If I wanted to deal with a manufacturer to begin with I would have called them."

"DON'T SHOP HERE if you're used to modern online shopping where you can track your order and expect up-to-date status on your order. Lighting Universe takes absolutely no responsibility for (and has no idea about) your actual order processing, shipping, or cancellations. When, and whether or not, you get your order is all up to the manufacturer who will not send you any shipping notifications. There are no supervisors available to call you back, so don't be fooled by the customer rep. Since I received no shipping confirmation for my order days after I placed the order, I called to ask about its status and then canceled it since the customer service rep said she didn't see any notice of it shipping. So, I purchased another product instead, but received my original order the next day - without any notification. Now it's my problem (bc LU takes no responsibility for anything), and either I suck up the expense and keep the item which I no longer need or pay to return it. Lose-lose for me. LU has already moved on to another customer. "No Hassel Returns" only if you don't return anything."

"I ordered four Eurofase wall sconces from Lighting Universe. They arrived in 4 separate boxes, yet every one of them was cracked. I notified Lighting Universe and although it took two attempts to receive the UPS return authorization slips (by the way, they WARNED me that this would be the last time they would try to send those slips!) I was able to ship the boxes back at no charge. I contacted L.U. regularly to check the status of the refund and was always told to give it more time. After a month, my husband finally intervened. He was told by a L.U. staff that the UPS tracking site showed that the manufacturer had received back the 4 boxes, but that the manufacturer was saying they had not received them. My husband told them it had been a month and he wanted L.U. to credit us (almost $400 tide up for a month). They said it would take about another week. That would be 5 weeks with no guarantee, since they always said to give it more time. Now, keep in mind their website claims "Hassle Free Returns!". My husband explained that the credit card bill was due, so unless they issued a refund now he would have no choice but to file a dispute with the bank issuing the credit card. Of course, they didn't want that. My husband remained on the phone with them for at least 30 to 40 minutes, trying to get someone to resolve this issue. At this point, I had probably had 8 or more communications with them by phone or email over the past 4 weeks. Finally, they got rude with my husband and threatened not to continue the refund process at all, and that is when my husband gave up on them and notified our credit card company that we wished to file a dispute. So, this matter has been handed over to the bank issuing our credit card. NEVER again will we do business with Lighting Universe, and I now see upon delving online a bit more that there are many similar complaints posted on numerous complaint boards from others about Lighting Universe. "
