"My experience was, overall, very good. I ordered a pair of boots and despite choosing the free shipping option (I think it was 5-7 business days) I received the boots within 1 or 2 days. Unfortunately the boots did not fit, so I emailed them to request an RMA. At the same time I ordered the next size up since they don't do true exchanges, instead opting to credit the account upon receipt and treating the exchange as an entirely new order. The following day I received an email containing my RMA# and instructions for how to proceed with the return. That same day I received another email from the HikingBoots.com informing me that the maker of the boots I had ordered (for the replacement) had informed them that those particular boots were no longer being made. I was told my options were to keep my order and they would send the new version of the boots when they became available (they expected early March), change my order to a different pair of boots, or cancel my order altogether. I chose to cancel, and within a day or two my account had been credited. As for the RMA I was lazy and did not send it right away, but once I did (I was still well within the 30-day return window) and received confirmation of delivery (through UPS, this had nothing to do with HikingBoots.com) my account was credited again within 3 days. It might have been faster but those 3 days included a weekend. I received the credit on Monday.

Really the only negatives that were actually related to HikingBoots.com were that 1) it seems strange that the boots I ordered could go from being able to be sent to suddenly discontinued and unavailable in the span of about 3 days, but I suppose that probably has more to do with the manufacturer; and 2) I was not refunded the $14 it cost me to ship the RMA, but I suppose I can't really fault them for that either. Regardless, my experience was quite satisfactory, and I'll likely be shopping through HikingBoots.com again when the boots I want become available."
