"We went to the new Mcdonough Ga store Saturday, Guns were way over priced, fishing lures were way over priced. Found a tshirt for my son on sale for $10, rang up as $14.95 I noticed after I left. The one item I really wanted had no barcode and no one had any idea what it should be priced at.

"Lake Mary store...Took a shotgun in for repair (paid for service upfront)...Called after two weeks...They said gun was shipped out for repair...I wanted it powder coated...called again in two weeks...no record of gun in their inventory...I had the paperwork and went to the store...asked salesrep to check...gun was sitting in the back room and had never been touched ...over a month had gun by...took my gun back and and had to fight to get the refund...needed store manager approval...Avoid this place at all costs !"

"Gander Mountain is a convenient place to buy firearms online, although their prices are only so so. I have bought used guns there, but twice now they have burned me with poor customer service.

The first time I bought a used Bersa Thunder CC online, which a) was incorrectly called a (plain) Thunder 380 even though the picture was of a cc model and b) was supposed to have two magazines; it only had one. While in the store picking it up I pointed out the missing magazine (I had paid for), the people in my store called the store the gun came from and the other store knew nothing about it. The central GM customer service was then called, they could find no CC magazines in stock anywhere on line, so they offered (essentially forced) a $40 gift card to me. OK, what choice did I have.

So yesterday I bought a used CZ-82 with 2 magazines online. Today I get a call from a strange number so I let it go to voice mail. Sure enough, "Steven" from GM calling me with this story - the CZ-82 was in a GM store and they sold it before central GM could tell the store I had bought it. This time I can buy another gun and they will waive the (I guess) $25 shipping. I called the number he left, a general number, and after being bounced around for 25 minutes, I talk to a "firearms representative" he is apologetic, but when I suggest Gander Mountain buy a CZ-82 from the web and ship it to my store for me to pick up, he puts me on hold and then comes back and says I can have free shipping on the firearm of my choice. At least he could say an employee is being disciplined for selling the gun out from under me, but no.

"Ordered a used Benelli M1, Gander had listed online in used guns,
they called a week later saying gun was not functioning & they cancelled order. They listed another Benelli M1 on month later, I ordered again, this time they e-mailed me saying it was already sold & had been sold since I ordered the 1st time.

Manager Spencer (from N.C. store) then called me telling the gun is broken & magically keeps relisting itself on their web site. I guess its hard to keep tracked of what your telling your customers when your lying.
I told him I still wanted gun when repaired , he told me they cannot do that.

"Ordered 3 folding chairs advertised as being made with aluminum frames (even paid for express shipping as I needed them that weekend). Exactly what I was looking for as they would be light weight and would not rust while duck hunting. Received the chairs and found out they are made of steel. About three times the weight and will rust first time out. Contacted GM with a very displeased email. Never received any kind of response. Wrote a review of the chair and GM's intentional practice of misleading the public. Review has never been posted to the item and now my account info has been deleted. As of the date of this review they are still advertised as "aluminum frames". DO NOT do business with these crooks!"

"Bought a SW SD9VE via Gander Mtn Internet order and picked it up at Fredericksburg, VA store. Customer service was sub-par; Ramon, was the first to approach and started filling out my paperwork. That went OK, but when I asked about the $50 rebate form they all acted like they never heard of it, even though it was in huge font on the front of their sales flyer. Took 15 min for them to figure it out and find the right form. I should have just printed it off the website. They also could not produce the packing slip for my order, as req'd on the rebate form when I send in. I had to pull up my internet order and copy/paste into word doc for printing and still dont have a receipt that has the UPC on it. Im anticipating they'll jerk me around on this at the rebate office and Im going to get screwed out of the $50. bucks. The whole thing was a hassle, I'll never shop w/ them again, weak customer service and seemed like a bunch of dopes. Guess you had to be there...but don't go there..."

"With ammunition being in short supply, I was thrilled to see Gander Mountain having what I needed in stock at a reasonable price via their website. On 6/21/2013, I ordered 4 boxes of ammunition from their online store. I received an email confirmation stating that the ammo was in stock. Per the confirmation, I expected the order to be shipped within 1 business day. I had not received a shipment notification to date (6/27), so I called Customer Service and was told the ammo had been backordered to October. If their online store cannot accurately track inventory, then at least they should send a notification that the item has been backordered (Cabela's sends these types of notifications.)"

"I ordered a jacket for $39.99 online on March 2, for delivery on 3/13-3/14. I receive my order confirmation e-mail, then nothing. I call them on the 15th and they told me sorry, they are now sold out & they have known since the 7th. My order must have fallen through the cracks. BUT, they do have one that is similar for $84.99 would I be interested in that? Um no. Sorry, nothing else they can do. Which by the way was the only "sorry" I got. I emailed customer service immediately after I got off the phone to tell them of my disappointment. No response, no nothing.

"I placed an order on Saturday and received an e-mail and confirmation number. By the following Tuesday, nothing was posted online in the order section. I called "Customer Service" and he said that there was a "computer problem" over the weekend and my order was "LOST". This was a $700 order! The item couldn't be re-ordered because it was SOLD OUT. I was given the "there's nothing I can do" line. Well, there's something I can do, NEVER shop there again! "

"Gander mountain,
Wow is all I can say.. To all hunters and fishermen, I suggest NeVer shopping gander again!! I bought a frabill suit for 316$ an some change. It ripped on a seam by left pocket. So for having the jacket only for a few days I wanted my money back. (I was going to use cash their anyways to buy a food saver to vac seal meat).. Anyways I go to return with my Receipt and they wouldn't give me my money back! I fished 4 days in the jacket! Gander mountain is a niche of robbers! Terribly discussed!! They lost me as a customer! For life!! No matter what I do i'll be shopping at Cabela's and Dicks! I was completely disrespected and can't believe how they handled this! Never shop gander again! I was well within the guide lines for returnnw policy! So they lie! What happened to 100% money back satisfaction guarantee?

"Order placed online 11/19/2012, email confirmation received on 11/19/2012. Today 12/04/2012 contacted customer service, they lied and said they emailed me a cancellation notice. I agree with many others, Gander Mountain's online shopping sucks and so does their lack of customer service. I will no longer shop at Gander. UPDATE: I was contacted by Gander Mtn. customer service and they sent me a gift card to compensate me for the difference I lost on my order, so maybe they really do care!"

"UPDATE 11/29/12: Well, things are certainly looking up for Gander Mountain in Morrisville, NC! I was contacted by their facebook guru, who forwarded my complaint to their corporate office and their Morrisville store manager. Not sure what happened behind the scenes, but I was informed that a replacement gun was being shipped ASAP and I am now the proud owner of a brand new S&W .380 Bodyguard! I was also informed that the staff would be updated on the correct defective gun return procedures. Store managers Eric and Walker were extremely helpful and both went out of their way to make sure I was completely satisfied with my new gun. My paperwork was completed quickly and Walker even provided some accessories, which I really appreciated.

I now am confident that Gander Mountain DOES care about their customers and will go the extra mile to make sure that their customers' needs are being met. If you have an issue with their products or their service, be sure to contact them directly to voice your concern.



Do not buy a gun from Gander Mountain!!! I purchased a new S&W .380 Bodyguard 2 days ago. Yesterday I tried to shoot it and was unable to pull back the trigger. My hubby barely managed to get off a shot and knew immediately that something was wrong. Today, I returned it to the Gander Mt store in Morrisville, NC and their gunsmith looked at the gun and said something was wrong with the trigger and that they would send it back to S&W to be repaired or replaced.

I told them that I bought a new gun and wanted a new gun, not a repaired gun and that I was told I could return a gun within 30 days of purchase if it wasn’t working. They told me that they would not replace the gun or give me my money back; they would only send it off to be repaired and would not charge me for the shipping. Are you kidding me?? Gander Mt in Morrisville, NC sold me a broken gun and what, thought I should pay to send it off to be fixed?? The manager told me, “there is nothing I can do” and “that is just the way it is when you buy a gun”.

Gander Mt obviously never heard of customer service. They certainly do not want me as a repeat customer. They said they do not buy back guns and I pointed to the Used Gun section that they have. They said, yes, they could buy back my two day old, broken gun THEY sold me at a “significant discount”. What?????? They sold me a broken gun, but will buy it back from me at a huge loss to me” because that is just the way it is??”

A reputable company who cared about their customers would have refunded my money and dealt with the manufacturer about their broken product. Instead, they kept MY money and told me they would send off the gun and maybe I would hear back in a month. Maybe. What I got for buying their gun is just a shrug and “that is too bad” and “it is risky buying guns”. I can understand the Gander Mountain return policy on working guns, but to not take back a broken gun that they sold me is plain bad business.
NEVER, NEVER, NEVER buy a gun from Gander Mountain!!! (Unless you won the lottery and can throw your money away!!)

"I purchased a shotgun from Gander on 10/13/12. I paid for next day shipping. The shotgun was 2000.00 and I did not get it until 10/19/12. They charged me on 10/15/12. I was told by three different people that the gun had shipped every day for 5 days. Never shop here."

"Don't know if this will get to the correct person(David Pratt) but thought I would send along my experience with Gander Mountain and my latest comment/questions to customer support at Gander Mountain which follows.

I purchased a handgun from the location in Amarillo, Tx back in April. At the time I was told that I could not buy the pistol unless I also purchased the Gander Mountain extended warranty at an additional cost.
Soon there were problems with the pistol and since being forces to buy the warranty I returned it to the Amarillo location for reapair(huge mistake) this has been right at 9 weeks ago.

I have called weekly since the 3 week or so just to see if I can get
a status update on when possibly it might be returned. Each time until
today I was told that they were contacting the repair center and would
get back with me, which never happened. Now they say they can't tell
me anything and cannot get a status and will only know anything when
and if they receive it back.

I have had a few things repaired at a local gunsmith shop and nothing
has ever taken more than a week and that was due to parts order and I reveiced notice that it was going to take that long. If I would have been smart I would have never returned this to the Gander Mountain store and would have just paid to have it done locally myself.

Of course I do see now after sending a few of questions/comments to Gander Mountain's main contact/feedback and not receiving any response that this must just be the culture at Gander Mountain not only being over
priced but providing "Zero Customer Support". I also posted several
reviews online and will not be doing business with Gander Mountain in the future.

At this point I think I am just out the money spent on this product and most likley will never see this handgun I purchased again. If so I need to find out the procedure on how to have the paperwork corrected to reflect this, don't want someone else using the weapon and have my name attached to it.
