"Order a vest from them on the twentieth said it would be to me.by Christmas here it is the seventh still no vest called them a lot they never answered called headquarters they didn't seem to care worst customer service ever they will never get another dime from me can't believe they are even still in business "

"Over all I would agree with a lot of these reviews. They are slow, and the wait can be long. I have left the store and went elsewhere because of this. However, I bought a gun cabinet from my local Round Rock Texas store. Found the same cabinet by accident at the local Academy store, $90 cheaper. Took pictures, went home and printed out Academy's online ad of the same item, then went to Gander Mountain. I showed the young man at the counter my receipt, pictures and print out. They very cheerfully refunded the difference. For this great customer service, I give them credit!"

"Gander Mountain Johnson City New York. Horrible customer service ever. Went in three times to boy a shotgun for my son. Waited over an hour each time with no one to help you. So I thought Ok I will buy it online and have it sent to the store. I have gone in another three times and waited over an hour each time still no help. I went to see the manager who told me the average wait per customer was one hour. I said so if there is 5 people ahead of me I am suppose to wait 5 hour to pick up a gun I ordered online because I couldn't get service in the store? His response was yes. Oh I always have an email that says my order will be cancelled if I dont pick up the gun by 12/16/2015. "

"I purchased a pair of Gander Mountain brand Muck type boots at the Forest Lake,Mn store in the late summer of 2014. I worn them a total of 7 days while sitting in a boat fishing in Canada. I packed them for my 2015 trip and discovered when I got into the fly-in camp that the neoprene material had split through on both boots where the foot bends behind the hard rubber toe-cap. Luckily it didn't rain or I would have had wet feet all week. I took them back to the store expecting a "no questions asked" exchange. Wrong. I wasn't looking for my money back, I just wanted a new pair of boots. The material they used was obviously not suitable for the application. No brainer right? The teenager working at the customer service counter said the item was only guaranteed for 1 year. I explained that they were hardly used. There was virtually no wear on the soles. The material was defective. She called a supervisor on the phone and he said the same thing. I was out of luck. She then gave me the corporate number. I went into the parking lot and made the call. The first thing out of the corporate mouth was that the item was only guaranteed for 1 year. She then asked if I had the receipt. Two years after the purchase she expected me to have the receipt. I said I made the purchase with a credit card and asked if she could look up the purchase. She said she could only look it up if I had the exact amount of the purchase and the exact day of the purchase. Right. She kept saying she understood but there was nothing she could do. Not the kind of attitude I was expecting. This is their brand with their name on it. It's not like I don't have other choices when it comes to outdoor gear. I said I've spent thousands of dollars at Gander Mountain over the years but they wouldn't see another penny from me. I would also be sure to let all my hunting/fishing friends know how much Gander Mountain valued it's loyal costumers. That $100. pair of new boots could have turned into thousands worth of good PR but it will be a lifetime of bad recommendations from me."

"Oh my!!!! What an experience and outright lies by MEGAN(must have been a manager in training). Tampa Store. I was going to buy a couple of guns and called the store and was told they would match online prices, so I spent a lot of time shopping for the guns at the right price. Drove 60 miles round trip. Go to the gun dep't and was again told they would match online prices. Then MEGAN comes up and the same question was ANSWERED YES. I produced all the paperwork showing 3 different legitimate pricing on both firearms. She goes to the back and comes out and tells me that it has to be an online price from a Brick and Mortar within a radius of 100 miles of that location and then tells me that they will match GANDER MOUNTAINS online prices (DUH!)the new associate starts looking and he was new and she didn't know the area to start looking. She had a very pissy attitude and basically didn't give a ____!! We found that Shoot Straight(local gun range/store) had the same gun at the price I was trying to get her to match. Oh but now, we have to call the store and make sure its in stock. Wait, wait, wait for the new associate to learn this by himself, because at 4:30 all she was thinking about was getting out of the store. They had it , so she was going to match the price. I ask about the other gun and she said if I could find it then she would match. I told her I had already done all the homework and ask if she was willing to do the search within a 100 mile radius and she said yes. Then disappeared with all her GANDER MOUNTAIN uniform off, because she was ready to go home. She was pathetic, she didn't even want to entertain any pricing or counter offering to save a customer and a potentially $1500 sale. I'll go to Shoot Straight tomorrow and buy both guns. Won't be shopping any more at Gander mountain. "

"Despite the numerous negative complaints, many of them regarding shipping, poor customer service and product availability, we decided to give Gander a try, taking what we felt were the adequate precautions and safeguards. Many of the complaints we felt may have been due to miscommunication so we took the precaution of verifying product availability PRIOR to ordering.

Our 3-star rating is in reference to Gander buying processes as well as poor communications. First, we attempted to contact Gander via its online communications portal ("Chat") 4 separate times. The first three "Chats" evidently were initiated (received and opened by Gander), confirmed by a message that a Gander representative was online and reviewing our inquiry. However, on each of those three attempts, no actual reply from a representative was received. I.e. no response whatsoever. We then emailed (via our Gmail email) Gander with the same, identical question. We then attempted and were successful at contacting Gander via its Chat portal a fourth time, but our email never NEVER received a reply (sent during Gander business hours).

Given that a Gander representative confirmed ample inventory of our intended purchase (Federal American Eagle .45 ACP 230 grain) during our 4th Chat attempt, we immediately placed our order. Our credit card was also charged immediately for the full amount of the purchase. However, within several minutes we received the following message (excerpted from the entire message):
"... Your order is currently being processed. Once your order has shipped, we will send you an email notification and apply charges to your credit card ("...AND apply charges to your...card")...

ORDER SUMMARY
Order Number: (...)Order Date: 11/20/2015"

The order did not ship until Monday evening, 11-23-2015. Quite honestly, that's only a difference of 2-1/2 days (half day Fri, Sat which they process shipments on and Monday) but again, despite a statement regarding Gander purchasing policies and processes, from Gander's own "Billing" department, our credit card had been charged prior to shipment, 2-1/2 days prior.

Summary: The many complaints we attributed to miscommunications or incorrect communications, the most important step in making an online purchase, ANY purchase for that matter, are valid on behalf of Gander. Poor, ineffective online "Chat" portal, unanswered emails, etc are just some of our complaints and on our first, our initial order with Gander.

Obviously, from all the complaints we've read, and despite our pre-purchase precautions, Gander needs to work on its communications ... a LOT!

Given the negative reviews and our personal experience, we might (emph: MIGHT) consider "testing" Gander one more time but only IF Gander replies to our pre-purchase inquiries and only IF Gander's price is significantly lower than other reputable online vendors. So far, their customer service certainly doesn't warrant paying the same amount for a product with Gander than we would with another reliable vendor.

"I've tried to order three separate items in the past 12 months. On all 3 items it took them 2 weeks to tell me they no longer carry that item. Then when you call customer service to complain all as they tell you is sorry. I will never order anything from Gander Mountain again. As you can see their review is 1.4 out of 5. It should be 0 out of 5"

"Lakeville, MN Location .... I brought my gun in for repair on September 23 it is November 18 and I haven't heard a word about its progress. I have called on multiple occasions asking for an update and the news is always it will be ready tomorrow. This is unacceptable customer service and I need my gun back this is getting ridiculous. "

"Gander Mountain has twice sent the incorrect size for the pants I ordered on-line. I am still waiting to see if the third time will be the charm. I asked for them to expedite sending the correct pants (overnight) the third time. They said they would give this a try and advise ASAP. They did not contact me with an update. Eventually I received an email that the pants were being shipped standard delivery. This was 4 days ago and still have not arrived. After the first missed shipment, they advised that the pants were in stock at my local Gander Mountain store. I had already been there and this was not the case. I asked them to verify with the store and they refused. Also they were extremely rude. Terrible experience on every level. Too bad as I really like the products they carry."

"Unfortunately, I recently located an item at the College Station, TX and was very disappointed in the assistant store manager's customer service. She had no desire to help me acquire this item and was quite rude. I had several hours invested in trying to locate this item and did deal with several hourly associates that were willing to assist. I was forced to put more time into finding the item elsewhere to purchase because the assistant store manager would not make a decision or contact someone who would. I have a family of five hunters that will not be returning to this chain for future purchases."

"Absolutely the worst online ordering experience ever. I ordered a fishing pole it stated it would be delivered in 2-3 days I ordered on Sunday. On Wednesday I called customer service because I had no update on shipment, the proceeded to tell me oh you'll have it by Friday. Friday is here so I called again and got told oh we don't have any shipment information on this purchase yet and told me to call back Monday. Well this is the longest 2-3 day shipment I've ever seen it will be over a week and nothing. They should not say you will get something in a few days if it's going to take over a week before they even ship it. Absolutely horrible!!! I have had late shipments before but it was weather delays during winter time which is understandable but it's in the middle of summer with no severe weather but I guess that's besides the point because it hasn't even shipped to have a weather delay. If I would have known it would take this long I would have ordered from Cabelas I only chose gander mountain because the product was $10 less and if I would have known the poor customer service and slow shipping I woulda paid the extra $10 for the product. I know I will from now on."

"This place is a joke,,,,,Found a shirt I liked on a sale rack that lead you to believe it was a 50% off . Stood in a long waiting line to pay for it and then found out it was a 2 cent saving when I questioned the sales clerk she said oh no that was a sale that was up to 50% not 50 % off,so I could have purchased the shirt for a 2 cent savings,told her to keep it and walked out!!!"

"Wow, talk about your Customer Service Failure. On May 22 I ordered 1,000 Rounds of 9mm ammo from Gander Mountain online. The product was in stock and the price was $249 for UMC HANDGUN AMMO BULK BOX, 9MM LUGER, 115-GR., MC, 1000 ROUNDS. I receive two emails stating there will be a slight delay because the item is out of stock and they expect to receive it shortly and ship your order. I could have ordered the ammo from a hundred different places and had it already. But, I didn't want to end up with 2,000 rounds of ammo and with my belief that Gander Mountain was an organized, well-run company, I decided to wait. I received an email on June 11 saying that they don't have my ammo, won't be getting my ammo and are cancelling my order. I called their customer service line and spoke to a nice woman who said after I asked if they would substitute with another ammo they would. She asked what I would like and I told her that I wasn't in front of a computer and don't know. She said that she would note the account and they would take care of it. I just called and found the same exact size ammo in boxes of 50 in stock on sale for $14.98. The customer service agent puts me on hold to talk to her supervisor. She comes back and offers me 10% off??? I explain to her that it is not a deal. She insists that the 10% is a fair offer. I ask her how paying $20 plus sales tax more for the same exact amount of ammo is a deal; it is a customer service failure. Her response: "That's the best I can do." So, failing to deliver what you offered a customer and offering a replacement at a higher cost is good customer service? In the old days they called that bait and switch."

"Absolutely horrible service at Winchester VA store today from the acting manager. No responsibility accepted for an error made by his employee and insinuation that we were at fault. Not willing to work with us in any way. I will Never purchase anything from that store and will advise anyone I know to stay away!
