Tried a couple more times and got locked out of purchasing.

Contacted CS who responded fairly quickly and resolved my matter immediately.

"Direct2Drive's selection is great, their prices are competitive or better and their website is reasonably well laid out. Unfortunately issues with their Comrade download software and some of their installations hold them back from being great. Their tech support, while quick to respond and friendly, is often less helpful than a Google search.

Their website could do with a view that allows more than 10 items at a time. With over 600 items a lot of categories that's just too many screens to browse. They also need to allow the purchase of more than three items a day.

Their Comrade software insists on recognizing games from Steam and other publishers--and downloading patches for them, even though they can't be applied and aren't needed. I've also had issues upgrading because they store the original installation file (needed for an upgrade) in a Temp folder.

I've had two separate games where the installation failed. In one case tech support was unable to help but a Google search turned up an answer. In the second case I found the answer online before tech support responded to my ticket.

Despite the negatives listed above I wouldn't hesitate to use Direct2Drive again. "

This is the second time I've used Direct2Drive for ordering PC games. I think they're great, they even made it easy when I was having problems. This was on a weekend and I didn't expect help right away but within 5 minutes they had answered my questions and had me on the road to game playing.

It was especially important because the game was for my grandson. I will use them again.

"I purchased Homefront from D2D and after getting it, discovered that the developer messed up and did not add support for my OS. My OS is WinXP 64 bit. After more then two weeks of not being able to play the game, and asking repeatedly for a refund, I still have not been granted one.

I have been looking all over the internet to find a phone number to contact D2D directly, and have been unsuccessful. I am not at all happy about the run around I have been getting from D2D about a refund for a defective product. The developer even stated there is a compatibility issue.

Their support staff is just blowing me off, and closed out my last support ticket on this issue as resolved, when clearly it was not.

As long as there are no problems with a game, then D2D is a great service. But buyer beware! If there is a real problem, and you ask for a legit refund, do not expect to get it. You have been warned!"

"I prefer Direct2Drive for my PC game purchases because I don't like working through Steam, and I haven't had an issue yet. Download speeds are great, and coupon codes and special offers are fairly frequent (only place I've consistently found discounts on brand new games), even if it might not discount older games quite as often or deeply as Steam. Re-downloading over multiple new systems and hard drive wipes has never given me a problem. On the rare occasion I've had an issue worth contacting customer service over, response has literally been in a matter of minutes via email and answers succinct and helpful."
