"its taking 3wks for a simple return/refund. every person over phone is unhelpful and just says what you want to hear. no one actually does their job and helps you. others who can help you never seem be in office. different stories and solutions get told. im scared i was sent to dead ends just so the return deadline passes and i get no refund. NEVER USING THIS SCAMMY DEADBEAT SITE AGAIN"

Ordered a book for my daughter for college

"I ordered a book for my daughter for college. The book was shipped and then sent back to the facilty for a bad address. I was then told they would reship the book. After a week I never received the book and I spoke with them again to be told by another employee that the book was never received back at the facilty and it was never shipped. I demanded my money back as now I was being lied to and they said they could not refund my money until the book was sent back to their facility by the postal service. I have spoken with them since and they claim to still have not gotten the book back yet. This has been over a month. They are dishonest and now that I have read several other reviews from people with the same complaint, I have validated the fact that this is common occurance for them. If you used a CC to order - file a dispute with the credit card company right away as speaking with them gets you nowhere."

Surprisingly Enough my Experience was 100% Positive

"I got a textbook for a Public Health course (Essential Case Studies in Public Health) which was being sold for $50+ and got it from BookHolders for $0.05 ($7.04 with two-day shipping). I honestly hesitated and relented for a long time before deciding to take the risk and placing the order especially after reading the reviews. The form of payment was smooth and the delivery took 2 business days as promised. I don't know if I was just lucky, but I do know that my experience with this company was overall positive. Anyway, I don't know if I'll order from them again given the poor reviews, but if I do I'll make sure to share my experience again whether good or bad.

The worst service I’ve ever had

"The worst online service I’ve ever received. This company is the s*** of the s***. I’ve ordered a book on 5 September with fast delivery (2-3 days). It arrived one month later and their justification was “we understood wrong the address”. They didn’t give me a discount back for this their mistake or nothing. Are you fu***** kidding me? Really I hope it will bankrupt. Companies like these shouldn’t stay open. They robbers. NEVER BUY FROM THEM, NEVER."

Horrible experience, I wish I could give it 0/10. DO NOT USE SITE

"They advertise and charge for two day shipping for a book you receive about two weeks later, and they will also take over a month to give you a refund. They didn't process my refund until the third time I called despite have my book for a whole month. They keep trying to postpone the refund when I had the UPS tracking number to confirm how long ago it was delivered. they also don't pay to send the book back. "

really annoyed

"The cover was really sticky, pages were missing and a corner of the cover was torn off. I don't mind a slightly weathered book, but this one looked like it had been chewed up and was is horrible condition. If you can help it, don't buy used books from bookholders, they are not honest about the condition of books and will ship you anything. I would not be so upset if I could read it through and all of the pages were intact, but we can't be wasting money on junk in this economy. "

Don’t buy your books here!

"I bought a 2 volume set and only the second volume was delivered. Asked them to send the first volume or a return shipping label for the second volume that was delivered. They don’t have the first volume and said that they can only refund $3.50 for shipping. The book weighs more than 6 lbs! It’s going to cost more than $3.50 to return it and media mail is only shipped at the post office, which costs me time and fuel because they This 2 volume set that I purchased for around $90 is going to end up costing me over $100 because of their “F” up and is going to take a month or more for me to get some sort of refund! I specifically bought a 2 volume set, NOT volume 2 which is all that was delivered. Now to get my money back I have yo jump through hoops to get a portion of my purchase price back. These guys ****!"

Awful, express shipping was wasted $$$!

"Awful, never shipped book. Paid extra for express shipping for no reason. Eventfully after numerous follow-ups they slowly shipped it out. In the interim, I lost credit for briefing and homework assignments.
Don’t risk it. Buy elsewhere, even if it’s a for little bit more. Or you can try your luck and end up falling behind and getting all upset.

HORRIBLE SERVICE

"BookHolders has absolutely no regard for their customers at all which they have proven time and time again. I have waited over 3 months for a check that they have told me is on its way literally 6 separate times. The people in corporate lie just as much as those in the store and are truly making a terrible name for the company. They also chump change for a very expensive book and had the nerve to ignore me and "misplace" my information and checks following their purchase of my book. I DO NOT recommend this company to any at all. Amazon is a guaranteed and much cheaper option that will gladly answer your calls regarding any problems you may be facing. This was the single worst experience I have ever had with a company and I will under no circumstances ever give them my business again which is sad because I had been for 4 years prior to this issue. Prior to this issue I had only returned books which leaves very little room for their uneducated and unmotivated employees to mess up which is why they didn't I'm guessing. Anything that requires actual thought or effort is to much for there vape ripping selfs. I am extremely upset about how this was handled and will continue to spread the word on how terrible this company is to everyone I possibly can at WVU and others. Hope you guys have a nice day like you do everyday since you don't work at all!"

Book in worse shape than what the description said

"I ordered a copy in 'good' condition but received a book with a large water spot in the back and lots of notes and highlighting. Customer service is very slow, asked me to send photos and in the end I got a 20% discount. That doesn't even come close to covering my hassle."

Untruthful ad

"My husband bought a "used-new" book from bookholders.com and the book was not used-new. It was thoroughly used. It was a bible study book with questions through out the book and about 85%-90% of the questions were answered. When I see an ad for a used-new book I expect some highlighting maybe some of the questions answered, but not the vast majority. Also, we had a horrible customer service experience. We explained that we wanted to receive a refund because the book was not as described and was told we would have to pay for return shipping. I will not be buying from them again."

Slow to SHIP OUT!

"Paid for priority shipping. Delivery took over 2 weeks because they did not ship the book out for over 10 days! I had to keep calling them and they kept promissing to ship out but did not. First and last purchase!."
