"The product arrived a week and a half early. It cost 1/3 of The same bike (pugsley) i had a decade earlier and has hydraulic instead of mechanical brakes. The BBB rating is a great reflection of real(not a.i.) customer service. "

BikesDirect -HAL eBoost Elite E7000 27Plus Awesome Company, Awesome Bike!

"Have bought multiple bikes from BikesDirect over the years and have always had nothing but positive experiences. Shipping is always fast and free, bikes arrive in good shape, in tune, and minimal assembly required. Most recently, I took the plunge on my first e-bike, and bought the HAL eBoost Elite E7000 27Plus. As usual, with the components that it came with, for the money, the bike is incredible. Not sure how they do it. Money aside, the quality of the frame building is superb, and the components are really in the sweet spot - what I would buy if I were building a bike - excellent performance, and more durable (a bit beefier and durable) than the highest end components. As far as fit is concerned, I find the general guidelines for the frames given on their website to be about right - I am an average male build (5'9") - and the bike fits me. Would not hesitate to buy from BikesDirect again - and I can guarantee I will!"

Excellent

"Ordered my Motobecane DS Elite Mountain bike from bikesdirect.com on a Monday and it was at my door Saturday (From TX to NC) with standard delivery service. The bike was even more than advertised. There were a couple nice upgrades included that were not advertised. The bike was fairly easy to assemble. I put it together with my Uncle who is an experienced bike person and it took us just over an hour. Hardly any adjustments to make. Really just the handle bars to fit me. The shifting/derailers were already perfectly aligned. I'd 100% buy again from them and certainly recommend."

Damaged in shipping - they went above and beyond.

"I have ordered three bikes from them - the first 2( Ultegra Road Bike, and a lower end MTB) came no problem and several years later and a ton of use they still hold up. Third bike( gravel road) was ordered on a Friday and delivered the following Thursday. I do pay a local bike shop to put it together for me, and unfortunately when he went to put it together he discovered the fork tube was bent beyond repair - looked like it fell off a truck. This was Thursday night. Right away I emailed pictures and told BD what had happened, and right away the next day they had sent me a return label and told me to send it back. As soon as it was in the shippers hands they sent out a replacement bike. New bike shipped Monday AM - and i had it Thursday.... so all in all I lost only one full week ( and it was rainy and cold anyway) They went above and beyond and made things right as fast as can be. I have only got 20 miles or so on the Gravel and I love that too. 10000% will buy from them again and would recommend them to anyone! "

Fantastic bikes

"I have purchased 3 bikes from BikesDirect so far and am a big fan. You can order competition-grade setups at entry-level prices.
Ironically, the bikes are so great that my first two got stolen, they do look great to both the untrained eye and to those who know what each of the components is worth. The components are significantly above what you'd get at regular bike stores. I tend to have the bikes professionally assembled, but it's not really necessary - doing it yourself takes less than half an hour as all the complex parts are already pre-assembled out of the box.
My most recent purchase was a Gravity FSX Monster Eagle - what an amazing bike! Each time I ride it, I get approached by biking enthusiasts who want to know more about the bike.
Great bikes, fantastic experience. Definitely a go-to place for anyone looking for quality bikes at reasonable prices.

Totally Satisfied

"I ordered a Galaxy Baseline 29 DLX24 and it was delivered in 5 days. Bike required very little assembly and everything was tuned properly, no adjustments required ... that includes the drive train, brakes and wheels. Bike rides great, just what I expected. Large frame size weighs 34.7 lbs with kickstand.

I was so tired of trying to buy at my LBS, and usually with only one model and size available, and price gouging to boot at Flythe's shop in New Bern, NC.

If you are on the fence, do your homework on your use scenario and proper size, and then place an order with BikesDirect.

Misleading Advertising

"My review is for those of you not especially skilled in bike mechanics. The problem I found is a lack of integrity in advertising, about the investment needed for getting your bike ready to ride after delivery. Secondly, sales communications were okay, but service recovery emails were poor, some very poor - and some showing cockiness, disrespect, and lack of listening.

About the integrity issues (Dec 2021): Prominent on the homepage of bikesdirect, you'll see "85% of customers assemble their own bikes. See how easy." Easy assembly was promoted on instructional videos and pamphlets as well. So I assembled my bike properly, without much difficulty. Assembly wasn't enough though! If you really want to ride your bike in good condition, you'll see that these boxed bikes need more-involved break adjustments, gear adjustments, tire straightening, and more. Unless you are skilled at these things, you will pay additionally at a shop.

Don't take responsibility for their mistakes

"Very similar experience to what others have reported: ordered a bike. The bike came in damaged (dents and peeled paint) but usable. Larry didn't apologize, just sent me $20 (severe cosmetic damage to a $2000 bike). Assembly instructions and the Shimano plastic tool to connect the e-bike controller were missing. Larry didn't apologize, just sent me a link to the main Shimano website. Crankshaft had defect (confirmed by professional bike techs at my shop) and needed replacement. Larry didn't apologize, just asserted that the pedals had been mounted incorrectly in the face of evidence presented by the bike techs. Parts were missing so it was not possible to assemble the kickstand. Larry didn't apologize, he just said to go out and buy some screws at a hardware shop (which wouldn't work anyway because the part was specific to the component and required custom ordering). Literally the worst web retail experience I've ever had and Larry didn't care. Nor did he agree to accept a return of the bike despite the website policy."

No concern about a child’s safety

"Bought a dual suspension mountain bike for my son for his Easter present this year. Received the package intact no damage to the box. Went to assemble the bike but couldn’t due to the front forks being bent. So bent that the tire couldn’t spin freely because it hit the forks. It was an obvious manufactures defect. Forwarded pictures and request for a new part to switch out. Larry at bikes direct told me he doesn’t have any parts for it and to just “bend the forks to get the wheel to work and he’ll send me 50 bucks. A dual suspension mountain bike that’s meant to be ridden hard down a mountain. Just bend it. Put my son at risk. Yea that’s not gonna happen Larry. They can take it back. If not I’ll dispute on my cc. But they just lost a customer of 12 years. Never again. "

7 months no riding

"6 Years ago I bought a road bike from Bikesdirect.com it was a great experience.
2020 we ordered 2 Motobecane MTN. E-bikes. 1st ride both bikes in shop with shifter issues, replace cable on both bikes.
Ride # 2, 3, 4, Both bikes back in the shop with shifter & rear derailer issues. Bikes shifted whenever it felt like it, derailer would jump gears. 5th ride my derailer hanger snaps & fortunately daiialer did not get involved in the spokes.
The derailer was not heavy duty enough to do what a mtn. bike does. The shifter was not an indexing type of shifter and was another weak point. Not being able to get a replacement hanger is just plain sloppy. It is the weakest point on the gear drive portion of the bike.
A derailer hanger is a small piece of metal very specific to each bike that holds up the derailer & is designed as a weak point that can break instead of your derailer breaking. Having a spare o being able to get a replacement is mandatory if you want to keep riding.
I would not buy from bikes direct again, not being able to get a replacement for 7 months is the worst experience that I did not imagine in my worst case scenario.

Very Happy and a Repeat Customer

"I just received my second bike from Bikesdirect.com. I purchased my first in 2015 and absolutely love that bike. Now in 2021 I decided to add to my rides a new Ebike, and Bikesdirect was the natural choice. Again I was extremely satisfied and took it for its first ride, going 46 miles. It was so fun and easy to ride, I couldn't stop myself.
In full disclosure and honesty the bike did arrive with a broke brake lever. This was obviously done during shipping and NOT the fault of Bikesdirect. I contacted them and they immediately corrected the problem caused during shipping. Again showing me that they really do care about their customers.
I must comment on the packaging of my bikes. Both arrived to me securely packaged, well protected and no loose pieces or open boxes. Everything was zip tied, taped and covered in cardboard / foam. My broken lever was obviously from a carrier putting pressure on the box that was labeled not to do that. Speaking of shipping....it was fast! I placed my order easily online after emailing a quick question to Bikesdirect and a fast response was returned to me. Initially it looked like a two week delivery time, but my new bike arrived in a week, and that was from the opposite end of the country during a holiday shipping rush.
I cannot encourage anyone enough to buy from Bikesdirect. Awesome products, prices and customer service!

Good(but misleading)price, horrible service.

"Received my bike about 2 days late, okay. No instructions, poorly packaged, they are obviously drop shipping. BEWARE they will NOT pay for return shipping, it costs you $50! I’ve also read many reviews saying bike was in disrepair when receiving. Bikes Direct will only answer by email and will tell you tough luck, go to a bike shop and have it trued or repaired. Worst excuse for a bike shop I have ever seen!"
