Shimano pays $10 and you pay $200 that's their warranty. BikesDirect will not help you with new bike problems that cost you a fortune to diagnose and repair."

Once they get back to you your bike ....well at least mine came in five days. Whole process was less than two weeks. All the other places I was trying to purchase from were talking two months. "Bike was easy to assemble. If you’re a first timer... I definitely recommend googling the part you’re about to put on so you have part specific directions.... it’s usually a 3 min YouTube video.... worth the time to make sure you do it right. Example: adjusting / installing the caliber on front disc breaks."
"bought a 529ht, first bike had been damaged by fedex during delivery, i took photos and engaged customer care, fast response the following day, a return slip and sent the replacement. Replacement bike came perfect ... adjusted the brakes and derailleur and smooth shifting. Not sure where the hate comes from but on this transaction I'd highly recommend them. "Bought a brand new Motobecane. Did not even last for two short test drives. Derailleur and chain seized going thru the gears on a gentle flat surface ride. Broke the derailleur right off the mount. Contacted the company and they would not accept any responsibility for having the wrong chain (11 speed instead of 12 speed chain). Their response "I am sorry but all the bikes are built and partially assembled at the factor overseas, we simply ship and receive the items. We have no part in the manufacturing or assembly of their bikes." Don't waste your time with this company. There are so many more reputable companies that will stand behind their products."
"I purchased a bike from this company a few years back and love my bike. My daughter just turned 13 and needed a new bike so I decided to get her the same bike as I currently have. I took it to a bike shop to assemble. I received a call from the bike shop letting me know that 2 parts on the bike needed replacing and would cost $175 to fix. I immediately contacted customer service in hopes that they would send me replacement parts or send a new bike. Nope! I got a response that was quite shocking. Larry the bike guy was all defensive and said that there is no way the parts were defective and that the bike shop was just trying to get me to return that bike so I would buy a bike from them. He sent me videos on how to fix the bike myself! Are you effing kidding me?!! I immediately request to speak to someone else. Next thing you know a guy claiming to be the CEO of the company calls me and basically tells me the same thing good ol Larry tells me. Can’t send the bike back because I don’t have the box it was shipped in. WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER BIKE FROM THEM AGAIN!"
"Bought a new Gravity FSX HD1 because my 20 year old Diamondback has seen better days, I am old now so I wasn't sure if I wanted to spend over 1K on a bike so I did some research and found bikes direct. I purchased the bike and it arrived after 4 days and had been damaged in shipment (FEDEX). I promptly emailed bikes direct and started a email conversation 10 days later I still have a $500 dollar bike that I can't ride unless I put another $100 into it and take time that I don't have to have it repaired. It was a gamble and I knew that going in, next time I will spend the extra money and buy a bike local and know it is correct before giving my money away. Take it for what it is worth."
"I thought they were being helpful. The main spring on my bike totally broke, and they sent out another replacement spring, which also broke. By the time I told them I wanted a replacement bike because this was a horrible bike, the 30 day time policy had gone by, plus I didn't have the original box. Who would keep the original box to a bike? The bike I have now changes gears on it's own every 5 seconds or quicker, and I've spent about $300 at the local bike shop to try to get it to work. The only reason the bike wants to continually change gears is because the shock broke to begin with. It worked before then. Clearly if the shock broke, and then the replacement shock broke it was due to a defect in the shock."

I got the Hal5 with air Rockshox AND Eagle 1X12 for about half of what the local shops wanted for similar specs.
I showed this to the shop mechanic at the local ride and he could not believe it. Said it he could NOT beat the deal even with his shop discount. was easy to put together and It rides amazing too - as good or better than my brothers 2019 Giant Stance that he paid over $2,300 for...LOL ( I paid about half that LOL)"

"I Pre-ordered a Motobecane Mulekick CX in June 2019. Bike arrived as stated in mid-July, but not without problems. First: The bike was a different color than shown/described. I thought I was getting an anthracite bike with black graphics, but it came black with anthracite graphics. Not a big deal. The bike looks great. However; other issues with the bike became immediately apparent. The bike was stated to come with SRAM Level disc brakes. It was delivered with cheaper Tektro brakes. The specs also stated that the bike came with WTB TCS tubeless wheels with pre-taped rims and Maxxis TCS tubeless tires, but that the bike would ship with tubes and have to be converted. No biggie; except the bike shipped with no rim tape and WTB Riddler standard tubed tires. The 37C Riddlers are also 3MM smaller than the spec'd Maxxis tires which were stated to be 40C. Not cool.
I've worked in and managed ski resort-based bike operations for over 20 years. I know bikes. I ordered this bike from BD because none of the brands that we carry have anything quite like it that I could purchase on a shop employee deal.
When I contacted Bikes Direct and informed them it would cost me over $200.00 to convert the bike to the specs they stated the bike had, and that I would like a $100.00 credit, they offered a $50.00 credit or would send a call tag for return of the bike if that was not acceptable. Since I really want to keep the bike, since it is decent for what it is; I have to accept their 50 bucks, and just **** it up
Bottom line is that I asked for a credit for 50% of the cost of making the bike what they said they were going to sell me in the first place, and they refused. This was my first purchase from Bikes Direct; and it will be my last.

"I have purchased two bicycles from BikesDirect in the last six months. I initially purchased a Motobecane 529 HT in July after I my physical therapist recommended 2-3 hours a day on a stationary. My old bike had been stolen so this was an inexpensive replacement. Though it did not cost a lot it had very nice components far above anything else in its price range. I payed $399 and it came with SRAM shifter and derailer and Hydrolic disk brakes. Nothing else in its price range had hydrolics. Well that bike was stolen a few months later when like an idiot I fell asleep on the subway. But by this time I had been bitten by the bicycle bug again (as a kid I LIVED on my PK Ripper BMX) and though I’m no longer doing “tabletops” or “360’s”. All I want to do is ride.
My birthday is in November so I decided to give myself the Motobecane Fantom 29er Elite in matte black ( cause it just looks cooler in black). And hot damn if this isn’t the most bad %#! bike!! It was on sale for $799 and came with Shimano Dieore XT 30 speed transmission and Hydrolic brakes, Rockshock Reconn forms with remote lock out and WTB tubless ready racing Wheel set. And when I decided I had ordered a size smaller than I really wanted？Not only did they exchange it for me no problem, they got me a discount on the return shipping. And they were just super helpful and polite the whole time. They also responded quite promptly to all my emails. I can’t recommend them highly enough. I’m saving up for a couple more bike right now in fact. This is my go to first stop shop for all things bike related. I only gave them 5 stars because they wouldn’t let me give them 10!"
"I was looking for an affordable road bike that is carbon fiber with disc brakes, after two weeks of internet searching, my friend recommended a bike from bikesdirect, (Motobecane Century one) it had great components at fantastic price. No tax and free shipping! Bike arrived after 5 days from Texas to Seattle. I had no previous experience in building advanced bike but you tube is always helpful for these things. After a week of riding I had to return the bike because it was 2 sizes higher for me. I emailed them back about the problem and they help me with the return. I first try to ship the bike by myself and this cost $102!! But if you buy a shopping label from them it's only $50.
I asked for a replacement bike that would fit my smaller frame 5'5" but they didn't have one in stock, so they gave me full refund.
The communication and easy transaction is the one that made me write a review. It's unfortunate that we didn't end up closing a business but the fact that they help you all through out is a sign of great business organization. "Absolutely amazing! I got the Gravity Bullseye Fatbike. Karla made it easy for me to order (Thanx again Karla!), the bike was easy to assemble, and it's an absolute BEAST to ride!! I haven't ridden a bike in over 30 years, and I'm glad I chose this one to start biking again. The tires are like motorcycle tires and they DO go over anything!! The shifters are excellent 1-click designs. The bike is SOLID. I got a few stares, I'm a pretty good judge of people and well, looked like jealousy to me. "We had a great experience with BikesDirect. We bought two Windsor Tourists and used them to cycle down the Pacific coast. They were very reasonably priced, pretty easy to assemble and came super fast. The bikes have been very reliable and have made it the whole trip without any issues relevant to their construction.
With regards to an accidental over payment issue they were very understanding in their response and refunded the money without hassle. I would use them again."
