" Over the last 9 years I've had 5 or 6 orders with Nashbar with no problems to report. For me there has never been a problem with advertised regular or sale prices not being honored. I recently picked up a pair of Nashbar sport platform petals with cleats for $23, what a buy. I usually buy the name brand stuff except for water bottles and such.

After reading some of the other posts I was hesitant about the Nashbar brand petals but for the price I took a chance. So far so good, I'm really happy with them. On thing though, the bearings were set up a little too tight. It was not a big deal to loosen them a little and if they will last a couple of years I'll be thrilled.

I ordered on Saturday and the order shipped Monday. The order arrived on Saturday. This was with the USPS standard shipping. I'm on the East coast so 1 week is not too bad.

If you can catch what you need on sale the prices can't be beat. I would most likely order from them again.

"My comments mainly concern the quality of Nashbar brand products. I have had very good experience with Nashbar service etc over the years.

I have been a loyal customer of Bike Nashbar since the 1980's. In that time I have bought many Nashbar brand products, including an 8 year old Goretex jacket I wore in on my ride to work this morning. Unfortunately over the last 3 years or so basically every Nashbar brand product that I have purchased has been of incredibly poor quality. I have purchased Nashbar products ranging from shoe covers, to gloves, to tubes and tires and chains and in every case my recent purchases have worn out very quickly or completely broken well before their time ( including a broken chain on this morning's commute which left me stranded ). In comparison to either previous "generations" of Nashbar products or current analogous products from other vendors, the current Nashbar products are simply cheaply made and not worth buying. Until Nashbar decides to bring back higher quality Nashbar brand products, I will find another place to shop online for cycling products ( and since Performance Bike is now the same company I will not shop there either)

"Bought a new wheelset and stem, a good deal using a 25% off coupon. I requested fedex 3 day delivery (to Canada) but it came via usps and took 2 weeks."

"Although I've read some pretty terribly reviews of this place, my experience was very good. The item online was a 1" diameter Ritchey WCS Road Stem 120mm, on sale for $39.99 which is a hell of a deal. They shipped promptly and the item was in perfect condition, 1" shim included and all. I'll be careful of the promotions in future orders though, based on others' experiences."

"I ordered an Ultegra crankset from them. No problem. I
got my order in 10 days (USPS Canada.) I've dealt with them
even before they were online. I'm surprised to hear they
were bought out by Performance. Anyways, I will buy from
them again.

"This has been my worst ever Internet shopping experience. After numerous emails Nashbar were unable to process any international credit card transactions and could not supply the parts. If you are an international customer do not waste your time dealingwith Nashbar."

"I had a very pleasent experience with Bike Nashbar and I highly recomend this store. I found one of those 'too good to be true' deals on a 70oz hydration pack but I figured for $12.99 it was worth the risk... I bought the item on July 9. On July 20th I still hadn't received the package so I called customer service to see what was up. Turns out I had put the wrong zip code on the ship-to address (I had just moved recently and mixed up my old and new zips). Anyways, the CS lady was super nice and said they'd express ship it to me for free of charge (I didn't have to pay for shipping the first attempt either). The item got to my the very next day and it's a great product for an amazing price. I highly recommend this store based on my one and only experience. I will definately shop there again when the need arises."

"Very helpful and quick to address concerns. I appreciate their CS people. I have ordered quite a few times from them and a few things didn't fit or were not right for what I was trying to repair. In every case, their people were very helpful and took care of the problem right away. I few times when I wanted to add to an order they just ran a new order for me and waived shipping. I will be buying from them for a long time.

I have to assume that their low ratings are partly because so many satisfied customers don't post as often as those with a gripe. These people are top notch.

"Dishonest online merchant with poor customer service. Bought biking equipment and received invoice with one amount but then found later that I was charged a different amount on my credit card. Customer service was unapologetic and reluctant to give back credit. I refuse to do business with Nashbar again. Stay away from them. Also, avoid Performancebike.com as they are under the same management. "

"Very dissatisfied. Charged me for shipping even though I entered the code for free shipping and my invoice and confirmation email showed the discount. My credit card statement didn't. It took several emails and phone calls to receive the credit. This is the last of a long line of mistakes and shoddy shipping practices I've experienced with this company. Taking my business elswhere."

"So, far I have placed one order payed the extra
for 2nd air (after promotion shipping was free)
and had my order in 24 hours. If you are on the
West coast you should expect it to take longer
from the East coast. When I order from the West
coast it takes atleast 4 days unless Fedx.

"I place two orders with Bike Nashbar within a short period of time online. In both cases, my final bill was higher than the invoice I received online. In one case I changed a quantity in my checkout basket, the total price recalculated, but the original quantity remained in their computer. I was shipped the larger quantity and the total was increased. I let that slide, but was more upset by my second transaction. I responded to a "place an order for $100 and get $20 off your total". When Bike Nashbar filled my order, they were out of one item ($9.99), so they removed the discount from my order because the total fell to $92.00. The end result was that they charged me more money for a partially filled order than if they had filled my order as agreed. In both cases, my dealings with customer service were less than ideal. I may be getting a partial credit, but not the full $20 discount on the most recent transaction. The best I could do on the first order was a "free shipping on your next purchase coupon" - something I am not likely to use after this experience. Be very cautious dealing with this company. Though the prices are good and quality decent, they are not a company I will use again."

"I purchased some Mavic SL MTB wheels (1 front, 1 rear) with the coupon code for 15% off posted here a few weeks back and I got my items on-time with no hassle. I basically picked up $850 in wheels, and two sets of ceramic pads for $451.07 shipped to my door. I am very satisfied with this purchase."

"This was my first and last order from Nashbar. I have shopped at other online bike stores and been extremely satisfied, but got a gift certificate for Nashbar from a friend that recommended I try them. I receive a catalog with the gift cert the last week of August and place an order the first week of September. One of the items (a $5 inner tube) was listed as buy 2 save $2. My order came up incorrectly, but I figured I could settle up later - after all, it was only $2 and there wasn't even a specific block for my gift cert, so my receipt showed the whole purchase price anyway and I was going to have to follow up.
Got the items fine in 5 days (a bit slow for in state shipping, but I have seen worse). My invoice does not show the discount, so I email stating the catalog number (221) and the item and the discount I should have received. The reply was, "Please advise on the page number in the catalog 221?" I respond, and then they reply back, "Unfortunately, catalog 221 is no longer valid. We are honoring prices from catalogs 222 and 223. Thank you." Why ask for the page then tell me it is invalid? Why send me a catalog that is about to expire and the prices are no good.
At this point, the value of the discount is trivial. The point is this could have happened with any item in that catalog of any dollar value and I feel their response would have been the same. I reply that it seems unreasonable to get a catalog that is invalid within 2 weeks. Their reply, "I do apologize, unfortunately when ever new catalog drops the prices in the old catalog are no longer valid." This is obviously not true; as their previous response proved that they were currently accepting discounts FROM CATALOGS 222 AND 223, a direct contradiction. I respond that this seems like a bad sign of how they value their customers, especially given that this is about 2 lousy dollars. On top of this, I now notice that the energy drink they had sent is a different formulation than is shown on their web site and their catalog. My wife is a reactive hypoglycemic and has to watch her simple sugar intake, so this is now an issue as well. I mention this fact in the reply as well, and let them know that I cannot shop from a company that I cannot trust so I would like to be removed from their email and mailing lists. They respond, "I have removed you from our mailing and email list. Sorry for your inconvenience. I am also sending a 5.00 off your next order coupon as an apology." Is this their idea of a joke? 1) I say I don't trust you, 2) I say you send items different from advertised. So they give me $5 off my next purchase (like I would buy anything from them again), not to mention not even addressing the issue with the energy drink? To me, that is the equivalent of getting food poisoning at a fast food restaurant and they offer you a free hamburger. By now, I am just at a loss for words and tell them to keep their $5 coupon (shipping is more than that and I am in state, so I pay sales tax). My final words to them: "This is about the worst job of customer service I have seen in quite a while. Congratulations."
I never write letters or even have occasion to complain about service, because I usually am very careful about shopping at places either highly recommended to me or that I have researched their customer service record. From what I am reading here, this is a trend with this company, and this could easily happen to anyone on any purchase. Companies have to learn that there is a cost to them for poor customer service. There are other options out there – I recommend that you look elsewhere for bike purchases.

"This was my second try at ordering from them. The first order just disappeared without any warning. The second time around it took the CSR 15 minutes to track it down. I also do not approve of their lousy online inventory tracking where out-of-stock orders just disappear as well."
