"Hi. I have ordered Panasonic HDC-SD5 on 12-31-2007. And on January 03 i got this e-mail.
Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for your recent purchase from Best Price Cameras. Your order has not yet been shipped because the product you ordered is currently on backorder. It will not be available for another 3-4 weeks and we have therefore cancelled your order. You were not billed. We apologize for inconvenience; we did not anticipate such a high volume of orders and we will unfortunately not be able to fulfill them all.

Sincerely,
Best Price Cameras
Looks like they needed my credit card information.)))) I called my bank and notified them about this issue. My bank cancelled my mastercard )))
I checked their website this morning .They still sell this camcorder and it is in stock...)))))

"I too fell for the "best price" deal on a professional camcorder. After placing my order for a camcorder that was recommended to me I received an e-mail to call and confirm my order. While talking to Steve, he informed me that the camcorder did not come with a lens! That would be $900 extra. What kind of place doesn't sell a camera with a lens? Steve told me he is a 'wholesaler' and I should've known that...how could I know that if the website doesn't say they are? I am a housewife wanting a camera for my teenagers...not a professional anything. When I cancelled my order, he told me there would be a fee (which incidentally is not on the website...check out #9 on their conpany policy re: cancelling orders). When I asked how much he told me 10%! On a $3,000 camera that is a heavy fee. I told him I was going to appeal the VISA charge. He told me to do what I needed to do and hung up on me. VISA suggested we cancel our card since he didn't confirm that my order was cancelled before he so rudely hung up, so we did. I HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE AS I SURE WISH I HAD FOUND THIS SITE BEFORE I ORDERED!"

"I recently ordered a Nikon D80 digital camera package. The initial order was a Nikon D80 w/18-70 mm and 70-300mm len kit. The total was quoted as $930.00.

I was given a confirmation call on December 14, 2007. At this time the customer service rep gave me an option to upgrade to a steel mount versus the kit plastic mount, an 1 hour battery for a 3 hour battery, a SDHC card upgrade and a upgraded battery charger. He also mentioned that the kit lens were plastic and insisted that I was getting a glass lens with the upgrade. I know this wasn't true, but saw the benefit in the upgrade. I was told the lens upgrade was $249, a battery, battery charger and SDHC card upgrade was $99. He also tried to get me to buy the D40x instead of the D80 because he said it was better and the D80 was being discontinued. Neither is true. I have concluded there is a whole lot of dishonesty regarding these people.

After I hung up with this rep, I realized the price quoted of $1482 didn't quite add up from the original cost of $930 with the upgrades. A far cry from $1482 when you add the original cost of $930 + $249 +$99 ($1278).

I called back to re-verify the totals and discovered I was being charged extra for shipping and a handling fee. I threaten to cancel my order because I was already upset when I was lied to regarding the lens feature. Now, I am incurring cost I was not told about or explained. At that point the customer service rep said he would adjust the price to $1392. I reluctantly agreed and thought it was a done deal. I choose to do business with Best Price Camera because of the savings perceived versus other on-line sites. When I received my invoice with the camera package, not only was the price not adjusted per our conversation, but I did not receive an upgrades 3 hour battery or upgraded charger! I got the same battery and battery charger that everyone gets in the D80 kit. I also got a 28-70mm (upgraded) lens instead of the 18-70mm lens that the upgrade was replacing. Based on the series of breaches of promises and dishonesty, I have to wonder even if I have a new camera or a refurbished camera. This company is definitely one yo want to stay away from!!!

"This place is a total rip off - -and fraudulent. I urge everyone to contact the BBB and the FTC and the District Atty in NY (55 Hansen Place Suite 1080 Brooklyn, NJ 11217-1523 phone ***-***-****). I placed an order on line on December 29th for the too good to be true price of $449 for the Nikon D40x. Chris sent me an email asking me to call and confirm the order - he did the old bait and switch so fast that I didn't know what I was buying (charged my credit card $729). I had a bad feeling about it, researched the company on line and immediately tried to call back to cancel the order. Today is January 3rd and I have been trying to cancel the order since I hung up from them. I have sent numerous emails, faxes and left numerous voice mails. All have been ignored. I called the billing dept, shipping dept, etc. I was put on hold a minimum of 30 minutes each at least 5 different times. I finally called and chose the option to verify an order placed on line. I pretended to want to know when I can expect my order and was treated so kindly. Once I told them that there was no way my order was being processed because I have cancelled the order via phone, fax, e-mail etc, he (Stephen) got very rude an obnoxious with me. Told me that me wanting to cancel the order was my problem not his and that he wouldn't do it. I told him again the order has been cancelled - do not ship it - -he laughed and said "yeah okay - good luck with that" and HUNG UP!!! Then he requested that UPS pick up the package that evening (UPS confirmed the request was put in at 6PM) and overnight it to me! I refused the package and had it returned to the sender. I have reported this to my Credit Card company and am disputing the charge. Macafee Security lists this account as a "warning" website. Eopinons has countless claims. These people are in poor standing with the BBB. I can't believe this company is still in existance - oh how I wish I had researched this further before placing the order. I have cancelled my credit card because of reports that they use it afterwards for misc charges, etc.. They won't accept returns without a return authorization # (good luck getting anyone on the phone to do that - or agree to do it) - there are accounts of them charging 50% or more restocking fees. TOTAL CROOKS!! Please call the BBB, FTC and the NY District Atty - - if you don't then we are allowing this company to remain in business."

"I tried to purchase a UX5 camcorder form these guys, I have had a relatively good experience from them before.

I understand the way the sell only the camcorder, no batteries, cables, media etc. It still works out cheaper to buy the camera from them and the other stuff separately (plus you get exactly what you want).

Well, a week after placing the order, they sent an email saying they won't stock this for another two months. What? It doesn't say anything about that on the website, in fact I checked again, you can still order one. Wouldn't be a problem, except I already ordered all the extra stuff, and I need the camera right away!

So I called them up, so if they could do anything and they laughed. The guy actually laughed! Not even an apology! I asked for a manager, and he said, why, that guy wouldn't do or say anything either!

So I guess I'll order from someone else, pay the difference (which is significant) and double up on all my cables, batteries (which isn't too bad I guess-but the last time I use these guys).

"Wish I would have visited this website before I tried to do business with Best Price Cameras. All of the ratings below are true. They are a fraud and are trying to scam people. I have reported them to the Attorney General's office and everyone else should do the same. My experience in trying to buy a video camera from them was disgusting! DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THESE PEOPLE!"

"What an incredibly frightening experience. Like many others, I was lured in by an incredibly low price - what a great deal, with so many extras, referred to by the comparison price site shopcartUSA.com (which is also an elaborate scam, as you can tell by the pages of "5-star" feedback for bestpricecameras.com). The site was professional and clean. It had "verified seller tags" (which I now know to be fake.)
While reviewing the transaction, the unprofessional way the order went through (the window closed and showed an empty cart immediately after placing the order), and this suspicious wording that "prices are subject to other charges and changes" AFTER an order has been made!
Unfortunately, I had already given the credit card number before coming across these reviews 5 minutes later. So, immediately, I called my credit card company. I've now canceled the card. I'm now waiting for bestpricecameras.com to call, but I'm assured in knowing they cannot charge my card. This was a terrible and horrifying experience. I've found the same camera on amazon for a comparable price, but I've neither the will nor heart now to buy it after this.

"I bought a Canon Eos Rebel XTi Package. They lied about the camera battery and batter y charger. I was told it didn’t come with them. They offered me a buy one get one free on the battery and memory card. I didn’t get either one. I was also supposed to get a flash with the package and it didn’t come either. And of course the tripod wasn’t in the shipment either. These guys are the biggest bunch of liars I have ever talked to. Good luck getting someone to talk to you!"

"Very glad I found this website before these idiots took my money. I'm glad to know at least I'm not the only one having a terrible experience. Ken, the person handling my order, is a complete jerk. And I'm tired of hearing "BACKORDER". Don't ever fall for this scam, if it seems too good to be true it probably is!"

"First off, thank goodness for this website, and that I read this prior to any real damage. I feel like I dodged a bullet. What's sad, is I am reading the same story over and over on this site dating back over three years, and BestPriceCameras.com is still in business and scamming people!!!

I too fell for the too good to be true pricing on a Nikon D40x camera bundle. I placed my order online on December 16th, got a confirmation number in an e-mail requesting to call to expedite my order the next day. I tried calling numerous times and spent countless time listening to their recording about how they pride themselves on customer support. What a joke!!! I tried this until December 27th with no luck. I called my credit card company and no charges had been made. I decided to do some research and luckily found this site. No more than fifteen minutes later, I get a telephone call ***-***-****) from an unnamed beligerant jerk from Best Price Camera trying to upsale me on the usual blah blah blah, batteries, bigger card, advising me of additional shipping charges due to insurance costs etc. I just let him babble on luckily knowing the speel. Luckily I was heads up from reading the reviews and told him I wanted to cancel my order. The guy started getting extremely angry yelling at me telling me I was a liar for ordering and not following through, and hung up on me. I will be checking my credit card daily to make sure these losers don't charge it anyways. If you are reading this, it should be evident but let me tell ya, EVERTHING in these reviews are TRUE!!!!! THESE GUYS ARE PROFESSIONAL CROOKS!!!!!

"I opted for free ground shipping as I had over two weeks to receive my wife's Christmas present. I got the proverbial phone call where Bruce tried to upgrade me both in product and shipping, but I calmly held my ground. The camera came in time, but took a good two weeks. It seems to be just fine. It has the battery included plus the cheap freebees Enterprise throws in. A USA warranty was included, but be sure to fill it out and mail it in to a generic warranty center in New Jersey. That's a USA warranty, isn't it? It was not a Canon warranty.

The price was resonably priced - cheaper than B&H, but not as cheap as some of these outfits selling the camera for one quarter retail. Does "too good to be true" ring in your ears?

Would I purchase from Enterprise again? It would depend on item and price and giving myself plenty of shipping time.

I've purchased many high ticket items on line and have not been stung yet. This site is surely a help.

"This has to be the worse company I have ever tried to do business with. I
Cannot understand how they stay in business with their unscrupulous tactics.
I ordered a Canon EOS Rebel XTI Camera package from their website at a
Price of $449.00. It included the camera, one lens (18-55) 1GB Memory Card
Card Reader LCD Screen protectors, Lens Cleaning Kit, Camera Case, Table
Tripod, Full size tripod, Lens Pouch, Cap Keeper and Wrist Strap. It even included
A free MP4 Player!!! All of this was listed on the website so I copied and printed it for reference.
The next night I receive a call from Victor (ext. 202) who tells me that I must
Purchase a battery for the camera in order to use the camera and did I want
The 2 hour battery or the 5 hour battery He recommended the 5 hour battery
For $168.00. I told him I did not want his battery. And he said OK but the camera
Will not work without it. (I felt he was trying to upsell me with this offer) Most all
Cameras come with a battery included. Then he told me that there would be a
Shipping and handling charge and I told him the shipping was listed as free on
The website. He said they could not ship and handle the camera for free and make
Any money and that I would need to pay a shipping charge.
After I hung up I became more and more aggravated and convinced that I had
Just been duped by some slick New Yorker.
(They already have a terrible reputation for this practice). So I called
Back to ask to cancel my order. Customer service put me on hold and I
Held for 20 minutes before I spoke with Chris, gave him my order
Number and told him that I wanted to cancel my order he put me on hold again
And it was another 20 minutes before he came back and he told me that it
Had been done. I ask him for a conformation number and he said I did not
Need one that it had been taken care of. This was on December 5, 2007.

On December 15, UPS delivered a Camera with a charger and battery and standard disk and manual and warranty which could be questionable and a sales slip for $629.99. None of the extra "bait" was shipped at all. I called
My credit card company and told them to dispute the charge (all of it). I will see if I can
Aggravate them as much as they have me. Someone needs to do a class action suit
Against this fradulent company. I cannot believe there are so many complaints(on this website and others) about
This company for the same thing over and over.

"I regret that I had not read the reviews here at resellerratings.com before purchasing a camera from Best Price Cameras. Like many of you, I was also a willing victim of the “too good to be true” lure that was followed by the “bait and switch” hook. The sales associate, “Chris”, went as far to say that I would pay over $3000.00 at Best Buy for the $1,500.00 Nikon D80 camera package which I ordered. I now realize that I paid over $500.00 or more than if I purchased a similar package from a local retailer.

I received my Nikon D80 package today which totaled 1489.99. What was to be a much anticipated year end purchase for my business is instead a “sack of coal”. The order was neither complete nor accurate. I had ordered an upgraded telephoto zoom 28-300m lens but instead a cheap 28-70mm F2.84 DG Sigma lens, which can be obtained new online for between $69.00 and $129.00.00 was conveniently substituted. I went online to register my camera and NIKON USA indicated that the serial number that I provided is not valid and is likely for a “grey market camera”. Basically, the camera should not have been sold in the U.S. market and will not be serviced by NIKON USA. The warranty provided is not a Nikon 1 year parts and labor warranty but an aftermarket 90 day labor and 1 year parts coverage. Many of the extras that were to be included in my original package (MP4 player, card reader, lens pouch, additional memory card, additional lithium battery, UV filter, and tripod) were missing. In fact, I asked repeatedly if the tripod was included and the sales representative answered “yes”. As far as the “deluxe” accessories which were included, they were all cheap and inferior products. The “Premium Camera Case” (Vidpro VID-90) was a generic all purpose camcorder/camera case that retails for $29.95. The 3 piece lens filter kit, was offered to me by BPC’s salesman, Chris, as a half-price bargain for $120 plus dollars, is actually a Sakar VO300-58 filter kit which has a suggested retail price of $119.99 but can be purchased new online for as low as $21.99. The battery charger and battery, that I was coerced into purchasing and charged a premium, was not an upgrade but are the same items that come include with any legitimate U.S. basic D80 “camera only” retail purchase.

With baited breath, I am planning to call BPC’s Customer Service in the morning. I do not expect my case to be resolved to any reasonable satisfaction. Like others before me, I do intend to dispute the charge with my credit card company and report Best Price Cameras to both the New York Attorney General’s office and the Better Business Bureau. However, it appears that the previous barrage of consumer complaints have fallen on deaf ears. Perhaps, only a class action lawsuit will have any genuine consequence on this merchant. And if successful, the eventual outcome of any legal recourse will likely result in attorneys profiting and Best Price Cameras continuing their sham operations under yet another alias. Let me be the first to suggest the new company name of “B.S. Cameras” and corporate slogan, “We never stand downwind of our products”.

Update:

I spoke with my sales associate, “Chris”, and as expected the issues regarding my purchased were not resolved. I presented him with my dilemma. He insisted that I had received a superior camera and accessories. He only attempted to counter and refute any evidence to the contrary. For example, he insisted that I had been given a $300.00 digital lens and $120.00 filter kit when in fact the items can be purchased new for $69.00 and $26.99. He stated the” premium case” that was included was a $60.00 value. When I replied that it retailed elsewhere for 29.95 and could be purchased for $22.95, he stated that their wholesale cost was $36.00. He insisted that a “gray market” camera was “a superior value” when compared to a legitimate NIKON USA warranted model. He repeatedly stated that the retail Nikon USA D80 cameras did not come with a “quick charger or extended life battery”. In fact, the few retailers that I visited (Best Buy, Circuit City), the battery and charger included with their Nikon D80 camera is identical.

His initial attempt to rectify my dissatisfaction was to offer me a credit of $150.00 for the return of the lens and filters. I had been already paid a minimum of $420.00 for these items. When I asked “Chris” for an itemize dollar breakdown of the purchases, he replied that it was not possible since it was a “package purchase”. He then went on to offer me an additional lens and some of the original “missing accessories” for an additional $100.00 in lieu of returning or any disputed items. When I ask that the additional lens and accessories be sent to me free of charge as compensation for the inferior camera and over-priced accessories, he flatly refused and stated that their mark-up on any item is only 4%. At no time did he suggest or asked that I return the entire order for a full refund.

I became quickly frustrated and realize that I could not reason with him. I indicated to him that I was going to pursue this legally. From his reaction, he did not seem at all surprised. This was certainly not the first time nor most likely the last time that someone has been scammed by BPC. Once I got off the phone, I immediately filed a dispute with my credit card company for those items which I had been overcharged. I have since proceeded to file a formal complaint with the New York Attorney General.

"WOW--wish I had read all these ratings before I wasted my time with "Best Price Cameras"! I ordered a Panasonic digital camcorder for my husband for Christmas. I spoke to a "gentleman" to order. After I gave him the info, he offered me the "packages" to upgrade. After I said, "no thanks"-he got a little short w/me and said "fine". 2 weeks later, still no confirmation or charge on my card, so I called to follow up (since this was a Christmas gift). I was told there was no order in the system. I gave them the name & extension of the guy I placed the order with, and they continued to insist I never placed the order since they didn't have it (as if I could make up a random name and have it match one of their extensions!). I was told the item was on backorder until January and that it showed that on the site. I ordered again online(while on hold for a manager), and again-no indication that the item was on backorder. When the manager got on the line, he looked it up and said "Well just ordered it today". After I explained the situation, he said that item was on back order, and I should receive an email within 2 days telling me so (never did). I asked what he could do to rectify the situation. He told me if I wanted the camera faster, I should order it from somewhere else. Now that's what I call "customer service"!! BTW, plan on being on hold AT LEAST 15 minutes for customer service. They're probably so backed up w/complaints it takes at least that long. "Customer service remains our top priority" is what you get to hear the whole time your on hold. Yeah, whatever--I'm a supermodel too."
