"I placed an order online 12/17/03 and received an Email to call and confirm. I called and after saying no to the package deal and extended warranty, they suddenly did not have any in stock. They I could cancel and they would have some in stock right after New Years.

Placed another order 1/6/04 and same procedure, but this time my Email said it was on back order 3 to 4 weeks. I have contacted them several times to change their Web Site and change their listed items In Stock to Out of Stock. The camcorder I ordered (Sony TRV38) is still listed In Stock. It had not changed since my 1st order.

I have filed a complaint with the BBB and it was very easy to do. The complaint was on Advertising and Selling practices. I do not care if I get the camcorder, they just need to change their business practices. Please everyone file a complaint.

"Cancelled the order for an Olympus C-5050 camera today. No response to my email inquiries about the status of the order. The price on the web site was attractive and the statement that the product was "in stock" made the deal too good to be true.
The sequence of events after the on-line order was placed was exactly as others who posted on this site described: the email to call to "verify" the order, saying NO to the over-priced packages, up-grading the shipping, the email that the item was on back-order and would ship in three to four weeks.
Never heard from them again, no response to my email request for the status of the order. Nothing.
I get the impression from reading all the reviews on this site that I probably didn't need to cancel my order because it would have never shipped anyway!

"Many problems with this purchase. First, I could not specify a ship to address - had to send to billing address. Second, after I placed the order, I had to CALL to confirm it (doesn't that defeat the purpose of ordering on line?) Third, their web site said the items were in, but after I confirmed the order via phone, I received an email stating it was out of stock and could take 3-4 weeks for delivery. Customer Service was awful and they took a long time to answer the phones. I cancelled my order. "

"DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! I WANTED TO ORDER THE NIKON COOLPIX 5700 CAMERA AND WAS TOLD THAT I HAD TO PURCHASE THE PROMOTIONAL DEAL FROM THE MANUFACTURER WHICH INCLUDED MANY ACCESSORIES THAT I WASN'T READY TO BUY. THEY SHIPPED THE ORDER ON TIME BUT THE ORDER WAS COMPLETELY WRONG! THEY SENT ME A SONY DSC-F717 + ACCESSORIES AND THEN CHARGED ME $100 MORE THAN QUOTED. I EMAILED THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPT & NEVER HAVE REC'D A RESPONSE. I CALLED THEM THE NEXT AVAILABLE DAY THAT THEY WERE OPEN. SPOKE WITH RANDY AND THEN JOHN. BOTH WERE RUDE AND DIDN'T WANT TO DISCUSS ME RETURNING THE CAMERA. THEY ONLY WANT TO DEAL W/ EXCHANGES. CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE THE NEXT DAY TO GET A RETURN AUTHORIZATION NUMBER AND SPOKE WITH DAWN. SHE WOULDN'T GIVE ME ONE. SHE TRANSFERRED ME TO MY SALES PERSON TOM. HE WOULDN'T AUTHORIZE THE RETURN UNLESS I AGREED TO A 15% RESTOCKING FEE. THEIR WEBSITE UNDER "CONTACT US" SAYS THAT THE FEE WILL NOT BE CHARGED IF THE MERCHANDISE HASN'T BEEN OPENED. I ONLY OPENED THE SHIPPING BOX NOT THE MANUFACTURERS BOXES. HE WOULDN'T GIVE ME A RMA NUMBER UNLESS I AGREED. I SAID NO IT WAS THEIR MISTAKE NOT MINE. HE TRIED TO GET ME TO AGREE TO AN EXCHANGE. HE WANTED ME TO SHIP IT BACK AT MY EXPENSE. I SAID WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO PAY FOR SHIPPING SOMETHING THAT WAS WRONG TO BEGIN WITH. I EVEN BROUGHT UP THE FACT THAT I WAS CHARGED $100 MORE THAN QUOTED. HE TRIED TO MAKE ME FEEL LIKE I WAS GETTING A GOOD DEAL NO MATTER WHAT. HE FINALLY AGREED TO CREDIT ME $100 FOR THE OVERCHARGE AND $40 FOR SHIPPING ONCE IT WAS RECEIVED BY THEM BUT ONLY IF IT WAS AN EXCHANGE. I ASKED FOR HIM TO EMAIL ME THAT IN WRITING ALONG WITH SPECIFICALLY WHAT I WAS BUYING AND THE COST OF EACH ITEM. HE SAID HE WOULD BUT DIDN'T. I CALLED BACK THE NEXT DAY FOR AN RMA # SINCE I NEVER REC'D ANYTHING IN WRITING FROM TOM. TOM SAID THAT IT WAS A VERBAL AGREEMENT & HE WOULDN'T PUT IT IN WRITING. I ASKED FOR AN RMA # AGAIN & TOLD HIM THAT I DIDN'T TRUST THEIR COMPANY. HE REFUSED TO GIVE ME ONE UNLESS I AGREED TO THE 15% RESTOCKING FEE. I HAVE CONTACTED MY CREDIT CARD COMPANY & FILED A DISPUTE. I HAVE TRIED TWO MORE TIMES TO GET AN RMA NUMBER AND A RETURN ADDRESS FROM DAWN WITH NO LUCK. FINALLY TODAY, I SPOKE WITH MARINA GOLDEN THE CUSTOMER SVC MGR. SHE TOO WOULD NOT GIVE ME A RETURN SHIPPING ADDRESS OR AN RMA #. SHE SAID THAT SHE WOULD HAVE TO GET WITH JOHN FOR APPROVAL AND WOULD CALL ME BACK WITHIN ONE HOUR. I HAVEN'T REC'D A RETURN CALL. I CALLED THE PHONE NUMBER ON THEIR SHIPPING LABEL AND IT IS NOT A WORKING NUMBER. I RESEARCHED THE COMPANY W/ THE BBB AND 5 STARS ELECTRONICS ISN'T LISTED. THEIR SHIPPING LABEL SAYS INTERNET FULFILLMENT WAREHOUSE WHICH IS LISTED W/ THE BBB BUT DOESN'T HAVE A WORKING NUMBER. DID SOME RESEARCH ON THE NET AND DISCOVERED THAT THEY ALSO GO BY AGA ELECTRONICS. WHEN I CALL THEIR NUMBER ***-***-**** & IT ROLLS OVER TO 5 STAR ELECTRONICS. THEY ARE A SHADY COMPANY. BUYER BEWARE!"

"Ordered a Minlota Dimage A-1 camera from this place and was told it was in stock and would be shipped in two business days. After five days with no response or UPS tracking number, I called. I was told the camera was on back order and would take 8 weeks or more to deliver. Cancelled my order and bought it from Digital Foto club with no problems. Stay away from this place, they won't and can't produce."

"I ordered a Minolta Dimage 7i. It was listed "In Stock." They sent an email that said it was backordered 3-4 wks and asked for order confirmation. I replied and asked questions about the In Stock listing. No reply. About 3 wks later I contacted them with questions about the status of my order and the continued In Stock listing for that camera. The questions were never answered. They only replied "IT IS BACKORDERED" About 1 1/2 wks later I phoned: backordered another 2-3 wks. They blamed this on computer problems, and lack of delivery on their distributor. They offered cancellation of my order. A couple weeks later I phoned again. Backordered yet again for 2-3 weeks. During this whole time, the item was still listed as In Stock. They wouldn't tell me the name of the distributor, but seemed eager for me to cancel my order. When I contacted Minlota, they weren't aware of any backorders on that camera. About that time I found this site, and cancelled my order. Fortunately, my credit card wasn't charged.
I looked for info about this company on the Better Business Bureau; they didn't even have its name. Perhaps a few more people should report this company as I have just done.

"Ordered Sony camcorder w/2-day Fed Ex. Never received confirmation e-mail, had to call to confirm. Unfortunately, their web site would show my order but not its status. When cam didn't arrive after 3 days, I called. They told me it was backordered for at least 3 weeks. When I asked why they didn't notify me, they said they didn't know. I asked to cancel my order, which they did immediately and sent a confirmation email. Thankfully they did not charge my credit card."

"WATCH OUT...this company gets the 5 star lying rating. First, before ordered...product instock. After paying for 3 day shipping, they say..."product back ordered for 3 weeks. After my order was placed, I received an e-mail stating problems...it's a sales skit to get you to buy an over priced acc. kit for almost the same $ amount as the camera. (Sony DCR-DVD300).

"I placed an order for a Canon Optura 300 digital camcorder with this site on 18 October 2003. On the following Monday, I recieved an e-mail requesting I verify the order, which I did by phone. I checked the web site several times for an update to the order status for the camer, which had remained blank. When I called customer service on October 23 to get an order status, I was then told the camera was on a 3-4 week backorder. When I told the customer service person that their site said the camera is in stock, she told me she would have it changed "personally". She also told me their manager was in a meeting, and she would have him call me. After I had thought about it for a few minutes, I called back and cancelled the order. I did receive an e-mail confirming the cancellation, and I have not yet seen any charges against my credit card.
Later I called the business and talked to a sales rep. He was very willing to sell me a the camera, not mentioning backorder. When I asked about the site saying the camera being in stock, he said it was in stock in their "foreign" warehouse. NOT a good way to do business.

"Ordered sony MiniDV camcorder on october 15th and was told that item is in stock. The next day i got an email to confirm internet order and i did that at the same time i politely refused to take accessories. When i called the same guy on Oct 16th to ask about delivery date, he told me that it is back odered by 4 weeks ie. till november 15th. I finally cancelled that order. I would never ever order any item from 5StarsElectronics.com. Please stay away from these guys who misrepresent stock on their website and over phone.

"I ordered at Sony f717 from these folks. They had the best price I could find on the internet. As with other comments posted here, the products are listed as "IN STOCK" but they never seem to actually deliver. I've been waiting for 4 weeks. I'm leaving on vacation in 3 weeks. I call daily to inquire about the expected ship date. I am told that the item is on back order. I plan to ask to speak to a supervisor and see what the response is. I would expect to update this review at that time. Meanwhile, don't let the price fool you."

and still does, I have been waiting 6 weeks for this camera, I have called them 5 times and have mentioned the web sight says in stock, and correct it, they wrote me an email telling me it will be corrected, but never has. I made my last call today (8-28) they said another week, we will see!
