"I have had the same if not worse experience with 1Way Photo as have the countless others who are complaining about this company. I performed a great deal of research and this company is affiliated with a business that the State of New Jersey is suing due to fraudulent business practices and many of those experiences we have all been going through. My nightmare experiences include bait and switch, not letting me cancel an order and telling me that the order was already shipped even though it was not shipped for two more days, charging my credit card before I received confirmation of the revised switched order, finding out that the revised order was not what was agreed upon during the bait and switch ploy, doubling the price by thousands of dollars and charging my card the higher price without notifying me, not providing me with an RMA so I could reject the shipment, Scott Jensen screaming and yelling at me, or hanging up on me, Scott Jensen pretending to be someone named Andy, Scott Jensen fabricating incredibly unbelievable lies. I have already filed a dispute with my credit card company, a complaint with the BBB, and will be filing with the FTC and Attorney General in the State of New York. I can only hope that this company is shut down and whomever is pretending to be Scott Jensen, aka Andy, aka many other folks, gets what he deserves."

"Same story as everyone else...I found this page after placing my order online, but thankfully before getting the "credit card confirmation" request, and was therefore armored against the up-selling during the call. Ordered the Canon 40D with 28-135 USM IS and 70-300 USM IS lenses for $1249 (plus free shipping)and, after refusing the fairly-polite up-selling attempt last night, got the order cancellation email this morning. After reading the reviews, I had also gone back through their site and taken screenshots of every page pertinent to my order.
Live and learn is the motto here, I guess. Count me as another voice calling for this company to be shut down.

"FRAUDULUENT SCAM ARTEST!
DO NOT ORDER from 1wayphoto!

I tried to order a canon xti camera and 2 lens kit. I called in before ordering and spoke to Scott to confirm that everything was in stock and could ship today. He confirm that everything was in stock and that it came with everything listed on the site. I questioned the battery and asked if it was a Canon 2blh battery and he said yes it was. So I went ahead placed the order online, received the invoice via email and called in to confirm the order! THIS IS WHERE THEY GET YOU. My salesperson Scott Jensen (supposedly a different Scott from the one that I spoke to the day before) told me that the camera and lens package only comes with a ONE time use battery and NO charger and that if I wanted a battery it would cost me an extra $150.00. I told him NO, he then told me that he would give me a MUCH better package for just a little more money. I still said NO. He stated that he was the Manager and would include the lONG lIFE battery and Rapid Charger, a 4gb high speed compact card and Sigma's (he said the company that makes lenses for Canon) NEWEST nad BEST QUALITY lenses. I still said NO, he became frustrated and said that I had nothing to loose that if I did not like the Sigma lenses he would exchange them for the Canon ones. (I was suppose to get a Canon Zoom Wide Angle-Telephoto EF 28-135 f/3.5-5.6 IS Image Stabilizer USM Lens and a Canon Telephoto Autofocus 70-300 f/4.5-5.6 IS Image Stabilizer USM Zoom Lens). I asked him to put it in writing which he did put in writing: EXCEPTION: THERE WILL BE NO RESTOCKING FEE IF CUSTOMER DECIDES TO EXCHANGE LENSES FOR ANY REASON WITH IN THE 7DAY RETURN PERIOD. So I went ahead and confrmed the order and payed $71.00 in 2day shipping fees which is out rageous. The day that camera and Sigma lenses arrived I could tell that the lenses were poor quality. So I tried to call 1wayphoto and speak with Mr. Scott Jensen, I was transferred and put on perpetual hold. So I sent an email to Scott stating that I was not happy and that I wanted to exchange these Sigma lenses for the original Canon Lenses that I had ordered when I submitted the order online. After a couple of days of no response I called back in and spoke with a Scott (I asked him if he was Scott Jensen and he said no that he was Scott Cooper) I started to explain the situation to him and he began yelling at me. He told me that he could NOT exchange the lenses because Canon is not shipping or making the 70-300mm lens anymore. I questioned him how come Wolf Camera still has them. He said that where he gets the lenses from that is what they told him and he sold the last one a few days ago. I said that I wanted a full refund and wanted to exchange the one lens. He said ok but he would only give me $150.00 refund I told him no way that the lens on his web site was $425.00. He started yelling at me and said that I bought a package. I told him I did not receive the package and that I was not happy. He told me to return everything and they would charge me over $300.00 in restocking fees. I told him no, he then hung up on me. I called back in and asked to speak to the Manager, I was put on hold for about 22 minutes when a gentleman answered. I asked him if he was the manager and he said YES, I asked hime for his name and he said it was ANDY. I then asked him how come he sounds just like the guy that hung up on me 25 minutes ago named Scott Cooper and he started yelling at me calling me a liar. I said I just want what I ordered, he agreed to exchange me the Canon Zoom Wide Angle-Telephoto EF 28-135 f/3.5-5.6 IS Image Stabilizer USM Lens and give me a Canon 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 USM Lens he gave me a RMA number. I will be sending back the Sigmas and if I don't receive the Canon lenses I will be filling a complaint with the BBB and the attorney generals office.

Make sure you have EVERYTHING IN WRITING AND SPELLED OUT EXACTLY WHAT YOU HAVE ORDERED BEFORE GIVING THIS COMPANY YOUR CREDIT CARD INFO.

"Don't buy from 1 Way Photo. They use classic bait and switch. A Nikon D3 advertised for $3100 cost me $6700 after they resold me the accessories which were originally in the box and included some other overpriced stuff."

"I would advise anyone looking for photo equip. NOT to buy from 1 Way Photo. They advertise no mailing cost then add what they call insurance and handling which, on an order of $400 was $33.00. I spent at least 5 min. refusing to buy another flash and insisting on the Nikon flash I was trying to order. When I objected to the insurance and handling charges, I was yelled at.I kept objecting and finally someone named Scott came on and said he would take off $60. I have not received the flash and wonder if it will be what I ordered. These are not people you want to deal with. "

"Do not buy from these people. I placed an order on line; received a call within 5 minutes to "confirm my order" and proceeded to be sold "upgrades" that turned into a "package". Shipping was to be free but insurance was $85.75. All items were inferior to my original order and a camera bag had mold growing on it. When I called and complained, they immediatedly attacked anything I said and threatened with their 15% restocking charge; keeping the camera body and returing the remaining items was not allowed. Crooks to the bone."

"I would like to be able to relate a positive experience regarding my first - and last - dealing with 1 Way Photo, but I cannot. I placed an order for a Canon Rebel XTi digital SLR and a lens, etc. I did not get a promised e-mail with my order number right away, so I called and they had not processed my order. I got the order number and, eventually, a UPS tracking number. Two of three items I ordered were delivered OK, but not the camera. All items were advertised as in stock. I called and was told the camera was back ordered and would be delivered within a week. The week passed - no camera. I called again and was told the camera was back ordered - would be delivered in 2-3 weeks. As this was a Christmas gift and was supposed to have been in stock, I was not pleased. The sales and tracking staff were not helpful. I tried calling yesterday and several times today, waiting on hold for an hour or more each time, with no response. I checked my credit card account activity and saw that 1 Way Photo had charged my account for the entire transaction, even though they told me they would not charge the account until the item(s) were shipped. I called my credit card company and described the situation, placing the camera portion of the transaction in dispute and requesting a credit. I e-mailed 1 Way Photo, since they weren't answering their phone, and cancelled the order. As they had not shipped the item, I stated that I expected a full refund and no return/restock charges. I've sent reports to Better Business, the FTC, and the Attorney Generals offices in New York and New Hampshire. If you're reading this, save yourself a lot of aggravation and do not do business with this outfit. They are the poster child for internet sales fraud and abuse."

"Unfortunately I don't have much new to add... I received pretty much the same classic SCAM that everyone else received. Ordered a camera and lens for $1100 and when they called to confirm my order, I was told I would have to buy a battery (which is actually included by the manufacturor) plus other items or the camera would not work. By the time they were done the cost had jacked up to $1800!! I told them I wanted to cancel... so they threatened me with a 15% "cancellation fee" that they claimed I agreed to as part of their posted policies (another lie -- there is a return fee but no cancellation fee). To try and "save me" from the cancellation fee, they offered to "upgrade" my lens for what was actually a much cheaper lens... when I asked if it was still a Nikon lens they lied again and said that it was. I got suspicious and found this site... cancelled my order with them that same day via their e-mail confirmation address. I also cancelled my credit card so they couldn't sock any more charges to me, opened a dispute with my credit card company, and reported them to Better Business Bureau and NY attorney general. I am really irritated that they showed up on Yahoo product comparison searches as a highly rated vendor (guess they have figured out how to scam that as well). STAY FAR, FAR AWAY from these guys!!!"

"I placed an order with this company thinking I was getting a great deal on a camera lens. I received my order confirmation, then a couple days later, sent an email requesting my order status. At that time I received a response requesting I contact them to provide a verbal confirmation so they can ship my order. When I called, there was no professionalism when they answered. I was informed by the first representative that the item I ordered was out of stock. I got upset and told him that I never received anything telling me that and this was a very bad first experience and that I would never order from them again, and I hung up. I then went online to see if it was in fact sold out, and found I could still order it. I then called the company back and asked the next person why it is that I could still order it online if it was sold out. He said that it must be on back-order. I told him there was no indication of that on the web site and that it was bad customer service, he apologized and offered to put me on the back-order list, but he could not guarantee I would ever get my item. I went ahead and did that, then came across this site, so called back and requesting they just keep my order cancelled and to take me off the back-order list as I could not wait that long. I got his name, extension and requested an email be sent confirming cancellation and he said one would be sent. I will be watching to see if that in fact does happen. If not, they will be hearing from me. I will now be watching my credit card account as well to make sure they don't charge me.

I am usually very lucky when making online purchases, in fact I buy a lot online. I hope this does not become a huge nightmare. I too believed the ratings on other sites that led me to theirs.

"It seems this is a usual practice for this store, as I have read here. I have been highly disappointed in the service here. Knowing nothing about cameras, as I was buying this as a gift, I was completely taken. I ordered the Nikon D80 with an unusually cheap price, but when I ordered I was told I had to buy a battery a two year warranty and I paid for overnight shipping. I never received the two year warranty and the camera didn't even come with a box? I immediately called to cancel this order, because I had a terrible feeling about it. When I called the guy on the phone Scott Jensen at ext 221 said that if I cancelled now I would be charged 20% restocking fee. Beware and don't buy from these people, this company is why I found and have started posting on Reseller ratings."

"Please stay away

They had a great price on a Canon 40d. I called to ask if they were in stock. They were. I placed an order. I called back and asked again if they were in stock. They were. I asked for a tracking number, they said it would be available in 24-48 hours.

I called back in 24 hours and requested my tracking number. My order had been cancelled due to the item not being in stock. The guy called me stupid and hung up

I called back to figure out why this guy called me stupid. I talked to kevin (a supervisor) and he said the guy that called me stupid was named scott. Kevin said he would give my info to his supervisor, john, who would review the tapes

I called back later in the day to see if I could get a hold of john, as no one would transfer me to him. I talked with the night supervisor andy who called me fool and said I needed to 'get a girl'.. Not sure where he was going with that one.. But he proceded to get irate.

I called back the next day and was immediately transferred to john the manager after being on hold for about 10 minutes. He said he was manager of the entire corporation. He reports to himself, he doesnt even report to the owner of the company. He called me an Idiot, ****, moron, thickheaded, stubborn, and others.

I told him I thought they were doing fake advertising and the ole bait and switch, he denied both. He said they get new stock of the item i ordered daily, and that I should keep checking back. I asked him if they shipped a Canon 40d at the advertised price today. He said he didnt know. I asked if they shipped one in the past week. He didnt know. I asked if they shipped one in the past month. He didnt know.

He said I received an email cancelling my order. He did not have the time that email was sent and could not prove they sent it (I never received one). He then hung up on me.

Just after our conversation, they sent the cancellation notice via an email.

Also - They all have different stories as to how long they have been in business. Any where from 6 years to 16 years. Very fishy, and not worth the time to do business with.

"Absolutely the worst experience with an internet company ever. Placed an order for Nikon D40 package. Received an email asking for confirmation of the order. My wife called and confirmed the order and was told we would have the camera in 7-10 days. After 10 days she tried calling to check on the status and couldn't get through. She then sent 3 emails with no response. Finally got a hold of them by phone and spoke to a person named Roger who said that her order was on back order and wouldn't be available for 4 weeks. He claimed we were notified via email and we weren't. He was absolutely the rudest person I've ever talked to. First he was rude to my wife and then to me. I threaten fraud charges if anything appeared on my credit card, he treatened to broadcast my credit card number across the web. After much heated discussion I cancelled our order. I cannot recommend strongly enough not to do business with these people. As a side note, my wife called back and talked to a person named Mathew who was courteous, nice, and polite, but couldn't do anything for us."

"I placed an order for a camera lens. I received a call needing more credit card info. When I called them back they said I ordered the wrong lens for my camera but for $100 more they would send the right one. OK. Well, a second brand lens arrives, with a warranty I did not order and a insurance charge of $98 (shipping was listed free when I ordered). I called to return. They transfered me when I would not agree to keep the lens. I told him I had a return and was put on hold. After about 20 minutes he came back and asked what I wanted. After an exhausting argument, he said they would ruin my credit if I did not pay a 15% restocking and the $98 in insurance. I did return, contact the credit card company and they helped me dispute it. I am happy to say I received a full refund in the end. What a terrible way to do business. "
