"I concur with the other raters of this store. Their prices are low but that is because they don't include the battery pack, etc. Then they call you and want you to pay an extra $89.99 for the kit. When I said I wanted to put my order on hold while I looked, he came down in price, and offered to upgrade the shipping method. I still said I wanted to shop around and I wanted to cancel my order, he wasn't going to let me and told me my credit card had already been charged adn there would be a $30 cancelation fee. I told him I wouldn't be paying it and I wanted to cancel. He finally agreed. This is a terrible experience, they are not selling the products with the included accessories and trying to get more money from you - after the fact. This should not be on any price comparison sites, DO NOT ORDER FROM THESE PEOPLE."

"I was very excited on Saturday when I ordered the camera. However, when I arrived home this (Monday) afternoon, I had an e-mail that said I had to contact them before they could continue with my order. "Chris" asked me if I already had a battery for this camera, I said, of course not, and he told me he would sell me one for the camera at an additional $90.00. I told him I would check with my husband when he got home, and get back to him. I am e-mailing a cancellation of my order, and have contacted my credit card company. How do these guys get away with this sophistry, and if you were operating a comparison shopping site, who would list them?? One of the few lousy experiences I have ever had with online shopping. Why don't the comparison shopping sites get rid of these guys? If they are not comparing apples to apples, who needs any of them!! 3/27:They cancelled my order, as requested, and I bought at Buydig -great e-seller!!"

"Camera was not what they advertise. They say that I purchased a wholesale camera which comes with no battery,cables,and charger. It does not say that anywhere. Called many times and got hung up on. Stay away save your self the agravation.

"I thought I was getting a good price for a nice Tamron 28-75mm lens, but it turned out to be the "import" version that didn't come with a warranty, case, hood, etc. Of course, I received an e-mail requesting that I call in to confirm the order (READ: give them an attempt to sell me more stuff.) Well, I called in and sure enough he asked, "Do you want to import version or the US version?" I've been buying computer/electronics/etc. for many years and I have found this tactic to be immensely prevalent within the photo sector of online sales.

I promptly said that A&M was using a bait-and-switch tactic as the lens was NOT listed as anything but a US-spec version. The sales person (x767) said that I must have known it was the international version since I bought it - wonderful logic, huh? He said that there was no way I could find the US version for anything close to the listed $304 price, but I found it several places for $340 tied to a Tamron extra $40-off rebate.

Bottom line - A&M Photo World deserves their low rating because they don't truthfully advertise their products. I would avoid them at all costs and use froogle.com and/or pricegrabber.com to find better, more honest online stores.

"Thinking about ordering a digital camera from A&M Photo World??? BUYERS BEWARE!!!!!!
My only recommendation is that you read the reviews before ordering from this company!!!! And I can say hold on you are about to be suckered into the classic bait and switch. Sure they have great prices, but what they don’t tell you is, you are ordering a international version of the product. What you'll get is no warranty, no battery, no software, and no factory support. Got a problem with that and want to speak to an A&M Photo World rep? You better be ready for being on hold for ever and then being transferred at least a couple of times. But don't worry if you catch on before they ship your item they will gladly allow you to upgrade to the US model for much higher price than you could find it at a more reputable dealer.
I would not recommend this company to the people I don't like!!!!!!!!!!

"These guys are cream of the crooks. I cant understand how they stay in business. They will try to upsell you on a bunch of things and finally if you say no to all hang up on you.
It happened to my 3 times...I thought it was a mistake the first time they hung up and then called back again and this time got hung up on again. Next time I called back in a third time and said yes to all thieir friggin "Ass"esories and I spent 10 minutes on each thing he tried to upsell to me and said yes to each one, they took me all the way to thier credit card information. I gave them thier own address and the dufus didnt even realyize that it's his own address and when he got to the credit card screen, I said, "please hold, let me see if I can hang up on you when you really want my credit card number. and hung up!

BEWARE OF THEM!

If you want a huge headache on your plate, order from them now otherwise BEWARE!

"I had the same unfortunate experience w/ these people.... Ordered a Fuji S7000 was told it would ship in 7-10 days. Had to confirm by phone where they tried to "up-sell" me... answered no to all. Waited 3 weeks then called. They then told me that the camera was on back-order and it would be 8-10 MORE weeks! I cancelled - they said "fine" were extremely rude!!!!!! Hung up on me! I was flabbergasted at such treatment. Avoid them like the plague!!"

"Called and tried to order a Canon 20D. They were EXTREMELY RUDE. I have never encountered anyone like this and was quite frightened by them. After asking about the price, he said "what if I knock off $100 if you buy it right now?". I told him I would call right back to order and he told me then it would full price. I then said ok, I will place the order right now. He then tells me it is full price and he never offered the $100 discount, it was only a "what if". I was so shocked that I said never mind and he hung up on me!!! "

"Boy, I wish I'd looked for user comments on these crooks BEFORE I ordered! My experience was EXACTLY like all the others: had me call them, tried to upsell a bunch of accessories and warranties. Denied them all and then was told 2 weeks for shipping. I then didi some searches on them and found this thread. I immediately called them and asked again when this would be shipping. They tried to upsell me again! I got loud and told them to cancel it. They said "fine, cancelled!" and hung up. I checked my invoice number on their site and it was indeed cancelled. Still, I called my bank to be sure. AVOID AVOID AVOID!"

"After reading everyone else's reviews, I feel like I'm beating a dead horse here. If anything my experience was better than other peoples.

After placing an order for a Pentax ist DS SLR camera I recieved a call from the infamous "Walter" confirming that my address was correct. This immediately lead to a sales pitch for overpriced lenses, batteries, rechargers and memory cards. I already had most of these accessories except the batteries, so I tried stalling with "Walter" while I attempted to verify some of his claims about "non-rechargable batteries only lasting 20 minutes" on the Pentax web site. He wasn't patient enough for me to prove that his claims were nonsense while he was still on the phone, and I asked to cancel the order at which point he hung up. Further calls to confirm that my order had in fact been canceled were routed into an endless voicemail maze.
Why is this experience better than anyone elses? I actually reived an email an hour later confirming the cancellation of my order, and so far haven't been billed for anything.

"Possibly the world's worst customer service.
It isn't even worth attempting to deal with this company. Don't try. You will be sorry.
We are a business customer, D&B rated - trying to pay with a debit card. Our bill to / ship to addresses are different.
Instead of emailing a confirmation with the criteria that this company requires for bill to/ship mismatches they ask you to call.
This is where the problem starts.
One guy named Arthur is the entire department.
Took 3 days to reach him.
We called 4 times in total. Hold times of 20-40 minutes before being disconnected.

This company knows absolutely nothing about customer service.
If they did they would have more than one genius handling inbound calls for CC verification. If they even had an inkling of the way things work in the real world they would clarify (with their first email) the verification requirements when the bill to/ship to - don't match.
We could have faxed this information within minutes after placing our order and had our item shipped - possibly even the same day.
Only funny thing in our experience with these idiots was Arthur's attempts to upsell us some accessories. When that didn't work and he didn't like our (as he put it "supercilious") tone - he simply cancelled our order.
Is that great customer care or what?
STAY AWAY FROM A&M PHOTO WORLD.
What a joke.
Truly one of the worst companies in America and a slap in the face to hard working New Yorkers everywhere - to have these morons operating in the great state of NY.

"This company is the worst I have ever dealt with - for anything. I had a similar experience to all the other complaints on this site. When I threatened to report them for running a bait-and-switch operation, the guy actually said "You think I haven't covered my a**?" -- so I decided to file an official complaint at http://www.ftc.gov/. "I thought that they had the best price. When I called for their "validation" call which is an upsell call, I found out that they seperated the package and were charging for the accessories that every other seller includes as sony packaged. By the time you buy the "accessories "their price is more. They said it was a wholesale price but do not mention it on the page when you order. Between the deceptiveness and forcing you to make the "verification" call I would say avoid this seller at all cost. Because of their bait and switch scam I cancelled the order and never recieved it. I am still looking to see if they try to seek in a charge. I would be very wary of A&M Photo World."

"Well, thank God I found this site. I was shopping for a Canon Optura 30 and these guys had an unbelieveable price. I placed my order this morning online and then did some more research on the camera itself. I saw a couple of links pop up on the search that had this company in the description. This website was one of them. I started sweating bullets, since I placed the order already. From some of the reviews, I determined how I would handle the upsell call in the morning. But as I thought more about it, I became more and more nervous. I called to ask about the product itself, and found that, after from long wait times and multiple "disconnects" the rep couldn't help me until after I confirmed my order in the morning. I thought, okay, I'll just deal with the call in the morning, and if it goes well, I'll continue with the order. As I read more and more reviews, I began sweating more bullets. So I called my credit card company and put a security freeze on my card (I WOULD RECOMMEND DOING THIS IF YOU HAVE ALREADY ORDERED BUT HAVEN'T BEEN BILLED). So, I A&M afterwards and asked to cancel the order. He asked for the order number, and then said "what do you want to cancel for?" I told him "I read a number of negative reviews and was nervous about..." that's when he said "alright, bye." That's it. No confirmation that the order was cancelled, no attempt at trying to keep my business. Nothing. So, here I am, filing in right behind the rest, only I still have my money (though I can't use any of it at the moment). Hope I get the e-mail confirmation that my order was cancelled! Seriously, save yourself the trouble and pay a little extra money. Check out CNET for other companies that sell your desired product. Check out those companies here too. There are a ton of companies that operate the way these guys do. Make sure, at all costs, that yours isn't one of them."

"My experience of shopping on this website for a canon powershot sd20 digital camera was frustrated. They showed something fascinated me on the web page with good price and good free accessary package.While the next day, they emailed me to call them back to verify my order. As I soon learned, they are trying to sell me some stuff cost more money which never showed on the webpage. This is a mean of deceiving customers. I told them to discard my order, the phone hung up immediately without any greetings. HOW RUDE!I don't know how this kind of company can survive in the competition of the market. Good luck to them!"
