"Extreme Gear offered the best selection of packages for a High Performance Core 2 Intel based computer that I could find. I was originally going to build my own computer but could not match the price that Extreme Gear offered the prebuilt computer for. I had to make 2 changes by phone to the original online order. I had no problem getting through to the sales dept., no hold time, and the sales rep, Joe, did a great job of making the changes with miniumn hold up of the order or my time. The computer actually arrived before the promise date, and works great, no problems, and miniumn setup was required of me.
Extreme Gear gets my highest rating, I would recommend them to anyone looking for a high-end desktop computer.

"Bought the system on the 22nd of February, received it on March 10 as expected, except the monitor which was backordered and which I will have on Friday. It runs great and looks great. Cannot beat the price. "

"I purchased a 2 thousand dollar system back in the beginning of February. I searched for weeks, ultimately deciding to go with BuyXG. The sales department was very helpful with a few questions and I went ahead and placed my order online. Joe, from sales, called me shortly afterwards making sure it was not a fraudulent purchase, which made me happy. The order process was great. The few things I did not like is that their sister company allows you to pay to ensure you have EVGA video cards, XG automatically picks what they use. I was, however fully aware of this before I purchased. The only thing that kind of bothered me is that you HAVE to pay additional money to have your system built in a relatively quick time frame, which aggravated me so much I almost killed the entire order. Other than those two things, everything went smooth.

I did receive my new gaming desktop a day or two earlier then projected by the website. Unfortunately, the motherboard was defective. In XG's defense, you only encountered problems booting the system when using a usb port mouse or keyboard. The tech support guys were very helpful. Although I had to finally figure it out on my own, they went over many different possible resolutions to my problem. Finally my system died. Time wise I was screwed because I got the system on a Friday, and no Saturday or Sunday support held everything up for two extra days. Monday, the next tech support guy was very helpful and helped me set up a return shipping label at XG's expense.

They set it up for ground, cheap delivery through Fed Ex. I didn't really have a problem with this, as I am in business myself, and you always try to limit your own expenses. Although, a rushed shipping method would have been better from my perspective. I had already decided to stay away from the ECS motherboard I originally picked and asked for the motherboard to be upgraded at my cost once the defective board was removed. I spoke to several people the day that I received my RMA and also sent a message to the website just to make sure it would happen.

After a week and 2 days, I had not heard anything from XG. I called and found out that my system had arrived 3 days prior. I know things get hectic, but I must admit I felt a little disappointed that I had not been contacted, and also that the repair tech had no idea that I wanted to upgrade my motherboard, and that I was willing to pay the difference. He was very helpful, and very nice, he took down some information, and told me I would be contacted either by the end of the week, or early the next week.

So, this is where I stand today. I have not heard back anything. I would recommend that there be a repair status check added to the site for helpfulness. I honestly do feel that I've been put on the back burner a little. I know in my business if something is defective from the manufacturer, even though my company is only a reseller, I assume the responsibility of the error, and I make return, and replacement a very smooth and quick process. Most of my customers are understanding, much like myself, things are some times defective, it's just a fact of life, and retail. I will say that they did a wonderful job on my system. It was more than I even expected. I paid extra for the professional wiring, and I added a lot of extras that just came together in a great package.

Overall I think this is a great company. The staff are great, and very helpful. Never once did I encounter one single rude or arrogant associate through the various departments I have been forced to come in contact with. I will probably order from them again in another 2 years or so. I just hope that my current system gets backs soon so I can actually enjoy it. As it stands now, we are almost at a month from payment / order. Maybe they will surprise me with a quicker turn around and hurried shipping back to me.


***Update 03/09/2007***
I called Tuesday the 6th, and I was told that my upgraded MB was installed and they were in the process of installing the operating system at that very minute. I was told I would receive a call shortly to verify which card I wanted to process the upgrade charge to. It is now Friday, 3 days later, and I have yet to receive a call. I am trying to remain calm and understanding, but I am losing my patience. I am 3 days away from being a complete month from my original purchase date. Once again, great company, friendly employees, great prices, very fast with RMA approval, but terrible on the repair / replacement turn around time and following up with the customer. I'm honestly considering just asking for a refund. I have had to wait way too long.

"Received computer after minor delay due to absence of memory modules in stock. Immediately after setting up computer am getting blue screens of death... can't run Guild Wars because it says I have major problems either with overheating or memory corruption in RAM ... can't even run it ... will contact customer support tomorrow ... I will keep this updated as to their response.

Update: As I had discussed with Joe over the phone (he is excellent), this was a problem with a Corsair memory chip. The process was only marred by a sarcastic and rude technical support person, who after giving me a load of attitude, refused to give me either a supervisor, his name, or any one else there... I called 2 more times and he personally answered the phone instead of the operator. Finally, I called back later and got someone else, who was helpful, but would not tell me the name of the person who was there that day (there were less than 10 people in the office) and did not care to hear any of the problems I had experience with that gentleman.

The computer is currently running beautifully on 1 gig of memory while I wait for the second gig to arrive.

Overall, I would still recommend the company. They just have some tuning up to do with regards to their technical support staff.

"I purchased a laptop for $1300 from xtreme gear. It worked fine until the case started cracking. The case is now fully broken and not able to open and close properly. This was due to normal wear and tear (opening and closing of the laptop, as laptops are supposed to do) Their website says their warranty includes materials and workmanship for 1 year from the date of shipment, however, they tell me that this is not covered.

They have a very rude receptionist that demands to know every aspect of the reason you are calling, then leaves you on hold until you give up calling. I had to call from 3 different numbers until I was able to speak to the person that I was calling for, becasue each time i called back, she didn't pick up, but as soon as i called from a different number, she would answer on the first ring. They are rude, unreliable, and have a complete lack of disrespect for the consumer. After reading all the posts regarding this company, I know that I'm not alone. Joe and Scott's primary job must be scouring the internet for bad reviews (there are a lot of them) and appolgizing... apparently in an attempt to save this companies reputation.

I have notified the California Department of Consumer Affairs regarding this situation, and discovered that this company does not posess a license to even practice business in the state of California.

"Excellent choice of components and excellent prices. Talked to Joe (Sales Rep) about a possible change to my order. It turns out it was a price mistake in the website. He apologized to me and told me he would see what could be done to rush to my order. He was very courteous and respectful. I'll update this review after I receive my system. Up to now, an excellent company to deal with.

UPDATE 1/30/2007

Computer finally arrived. It took them a little bit less than 10 business days to send it. Everything came very well protected and complete. The assembly work is very clean (I asked for the professional cabling option), no lose cables, everything tied up. All leds, front panel connectors are correctly wired. The machine works pretty well. I would buy from them again.

"Very happy with order. Ordered on 1/3 Wed and received the order on 1/8 Mon through FedEx. The order was double boxed and arrived in excellent condition a day earlier than expected.

I called to place my order to confirm the item was in stock before placing my order. A sales rep named Joe went into the stock room to confirm that there were 4 items left in stock. Immediately afterwards, I placed the order through their website.

The order status gives the FedEx tracking number. I'd prefer that it was sent to my email instead, but this is a very minor complaint.

Will definitely do business with them again. Thank you for a good online experience.

"I completely spec'd this computer in one night while at work -- printed it off -- and bought it the next day. Great system. Easier to use than Dell's configurator, and the price is WAY better. I swore I would never buy a prebuilt computer again back in 2000, but right now, I have to say, I don't think I'll ever waste time building one again. All materials from the motherboard/hard disk/case etc. were included free. I got extra cables, extra USB ports, and frankly, the computer is gorgeous and virtually silent. These guys know how to build a great box for cheap. With over a decade in computing and almost 4 years teaching CS in a university, I have recommended XG to students, faculty, and friends ever since I got my machine (5 days ahead of schedule ... try getting that with Dell, Gateway, HP/Compaq, etc.).

These guys are great, and this machine makes me VERY happy!

"I just wanted to let you guys know that I got my computer, and I am very impressed with your work! The computer is amazing. I'm running my games at blistering speeds. I really feel like I bought a high quality product every time I look in the side window of the case. The wiring is amazing. Air flow is phenomenal. All that packed with the liquid cooler has made for one extraordinary machine! Thank you for all of your help. Your customer service guys were great. "I bought this limited system because my exisiting cpu was not fast enough. It was too expensive buying the parts seperately. So I transfered the valuable parts from my old computer. It took a while to add the old parts. My system works fine now. The only component I can not use is the SATA Disk. The XBLADE case looks nice."

" I am a computer administrator, dealing with all of the large computer companies. I was both surprised and impressed with Buyxg. Their customer support was great, very professional and friendly. I changed a few things on my order three days after I placed it. Normally this sort of thing would be such a pain; with Buyxg it was very easy. The staff was courteous and polite the entire time (not the norm).
The computer arrived on time (again not something I'm used to). The system its’ self is very stable. The case is great, solidly put together. The cabling looks to have had a great deal of thought and care put into it. I noticed some small details, like running cables in a way that they don’t show as much through the window. This is something most manufacturers don’t bother with. It seems as though a good bit of thought went into the preparation.
I really don’t have any negative comments. They offer a good variety of hardware, the delivery is on time, and the computer is great. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone planning on purchasing a new computer.

"I ordered a "barebones" system from this company on the 25th of September. My cc was already hit for the price of the pc the same day.3 weeks later I haven't heard a peep from the company (ie...is the pc assembled /any parts backordered / Tracking number).

Numerous emails have gone unanswered, the phone there pretty much rings and rings. I checked thier order status page and see that now my system is supposed to ship on 10/9/06....that's today. Ok...a tracking number would be nice ( either on the status page or via email).


I finally called the "home office" and perhaps after 10 rings or so, a gentleman gets on the phone. He says that he's a "secretary" there and that the production of the pc's are backedup but mine is supposedly built and it's being tested. I said ...it doesnt take 2 weeks to put a cpu/mb/video card and hdd into a case (no os installed). It would take what a hr or so to assemble and maybe using diagnostic software let the system burn in for 24-48 hrs?
So now the guy says that it might ship tommorow..he doesn't know.

10-12-06 -UPDATE-

I received a email as well as a phone call from Joe in regards to my order. He provided a tracking number. I'd like to thank Joe for responding quickly to my request. I look foward to getting my Buyxg System. :) Once again thanks Joe!

Update part deux :

I received the computer on 10/16/06. I wasn't able to look at it until yesterday (the 17th).
The computer is constantly locking up in the BIOS or when attempting to install windows xp. The bios wouldn't retain any of the settings. This is usually attributed to a failing bios battery which I replaced.
I then noticed that the pc was sent with 2 sticks of 512 ram. Let me preface this by saying I recieved a email earlier (about a week before) saying that they had issues with the mb using 2 sticks of 512 and were going to send it with 1 stick of 1 gig. It didn't arrive this way.

So now I wait.....

10-31-06 :

The Memory finally came in.
I rushed home and installed it hoping for the best. There's no video ( this was a ongoing issue when i 1st received the pc).

I've had it with this computer (and company). I don't see what sort of testing they preformed on the computer before shipping it out. I'm a IT admin at work and am in charge of purchasing as well. We're in the market for some workstations but alas my dealings with Buyxg has been less than stellar. So when we procure some computers it won't be from this company.
I've spent too many hours futzing around with a computer that should be working out of the box.

I expect a FULL REFUND (without any Restocking Fee's).
