"absolutely amazing! I went with these guys because I saw that they were rated high, and now I see why.

I ordered 2 motherboard/cpu/memory combos from them. I got the items in 5 days, and that's counting a weekend in the middle, and during the Christmas shipping season! I was very pleasantly suprised.

All of the items were packaged very well, and work great. I didn't do alot of checking around, but for the items that I bought, their prices were as cheap as any other site I went to.

I especially liked their configurator, which lets you modify the base system you buy. I also liked that they didn't add upgrades by default like some other sites do.

I know I sound like a paid advertiser for these guys, but I am just so pleased with the service. I will definitely be shopping with them in the future.

"This is the 5th computer I have purchased from xtechnology over the past 3 years. Have never had any problems. Highly recommend for anyone that knows exactly which components they want in their computer system but do not desire to build it themselves. Xtech will configure w/o an operating system installed so that you can use your current O/S CD for installation. If you need technical support because you are a novice, then you probably should go with Dell, etc. If you pretty much know what you are doing, then Xtech is the best option, IMO. Cheaper prices than Dell and they will custom build your computer in accordance with the components you choose. Tech support not as good as Dell, but who cares as long as you are computer literate.

Very happy with my current purchase using the A8V Asus Motherboard, AMD Athlon 64 3500+ CPU, ASUS V9520 Video Card, 1024Mb PC3200 - 400MHz DDR Memory, and SONY DVD RW DW with Enlight case and no O/S (already own XP). Total cost = $1,081 is a great price.

Had to call tech support with a minor problem today (updated A8V BIOS which caused LPT printer problem) which they were able to answer to resolve the issue. Sometimes getting through to them may be a problem, but not today, waited on the phone for less than 1 minute.

In conclusion, I am very satisfied with xtechnology.com for this computer purchase as well as with the other four. Cannot understand why so many negative comments on them, and can only conclude either I am lucky or that only computer novices are the ones giving them the bad ranking...

"i ordered one of their computers and configured it myselfwith the wrong type of ram,after i placed my order i realized my mistake and sent them an email but got no reply,so i called them and was assured they would build my comp with the right type of ram.the comp arrived and it had the wrong ram in it,it would barely run,so i called them and we agreed for me to send the stick of ram back to them ,to be replaced with the right type,it arrived and i installed it,only to have the comp not run at all.so i called them and we tried to get it running but it wouldnt,so i was told to return it,i had to pay the shipping,and i would receive a full refund.i was charged a 15 percent restocking fee plus i paid for shipping,it took almost a month to get that from them.i called them 8 times only to be put on hold or disconnected.i was told there wouldnt be a restocking fee.this company is very unprofessional and has very poor service.i lost over 200 dollars just by placing an order with them .stay away from this company"

"Let me just add my voice to the many - avoid buying ANYTHING from this company! You will almost certainly regret it. I am currently without a computer at home as my XTechnology computer has now been sent back for repairs for the second time. The computer simply started shutting down and rebooting on it's own the first time I sent it back. Recently it began to shut down and reboot in a continuous cycle, never even getting windows fully opened. I have found the repair techs as well as the managers to be liars. Very slimy tactics: stating the work would be done in a day - 3 weeks later they still have your computer. More parts broken when they do ship it back than when you sent the computer in the first place. It's a nightmare. It feels like they are just out to get your money and don't care about the customer. Avoid XTechnology!!!"

"I hope I am not being redundant with the letter. I too have had a horrendous experience with X-technology. I bought my computer in 2001 and have had a number of problems with the computer. I have currently sent the computer back for a second time. I too have found that the customer service has been horrible. They are very rude and lie to you about the progress of repairs. Initially saying they are currently making repair and then 2 weeks later saying that they had yet to start. All in all, it took about 10 weeks for them to return the computer to me the first time I sent it for repairs. In addition, when they sent the computer back, they sent it back with a malfunctioning 3 1/2 disk drive that had previously been working properly. Please do not make the same mistake I am many others have made!!"

"Xtechnology is a terrible company. I have had to return my laptop many times, and more things keep breaking. It is a lousy laptop full of cheap parts, and they will not refund my money, even though the laptop has spent more time in their shop than in my hands! The customer service is awful, they lie right to your face, and when you catch them in a lie, they just do not care. I have contacted their owner, he does not care either that I am unhappy, they refuse to refund my money. I would never, ever buy anything from them ever again. "

"Looks like some have had some real issues with X Technologies, but unfortunately thus far I'm not one of them. Received the merch within 2 business days of order (3 days total, one holiday). So far, so good.

Lot of companies I've dealt with, when you order a PC parts separate, will not install some things for you...like the processor or memory. This case was great, tons of room inside and they had taken the time too hook it all up right. By right I mean extra cooling that I didn't expect, and making sure all of the power supply wiring was neatly tied up and out of the way of any fans in the case.

Now, I ordered this machine with pretty much everything except a HDD, which I already had and was planning on using. It showed up, I hooked up my HDD from my old machine, and began running O/S upgrades immediately. Everything has run perfectly thus far, and contrary too a lot of what I've seen on this site, if I don't run into any technical issues this will be one of the best online purchase experiences I've had. I have quite a few too, being IT management I am constantly stocking parts and replacing machines.

Barring any technical difficulties that I may experience due too faulty hardware (which I will report if I encounter), the experience has been great. I called them personally too tell them this, and got through too their sales department in a couple of rings. As it stands now I would surely recommend them too anyone looking too buy, and I personally plan on buying more from them in the future.

"Simply put, xtechnology is a terrible company. If you purchase any system from them, expect to return it at least twice. This is my second xtechnology computer, and not by choice. Xtechnology has the dubious business model of opperating several different fronts for its organization, likely due to the bad reputation they have earned by selling inferior product, and backing it up with atrocious support.

Fake fronts for xtechnology I have encountered:
Americancomputech (though I am not 100% sure)
avadirect.com (100% sure)

Many ECS laptops shipped by xtechnology recently overheat, due to poor design, and melt the ac adaptor head (mine fused entirely into the unit), destroy the modem (my initial return, they did not fix it), and ultimately, destroys the cpu. (Complete system failure). I am currently on my third return, and considering my legal options to get my money back. The customer support is laughable, they lie, consistantly. It is obviously company policy to lie, mislead, and delay the customer in any way possible in order to keep the money. I am currently creating a website to organize people who have been ripped off by this company, and who want their money back. Class action anyone?

"Buyer Beware! Purchased Laptop from X Technology, plug overheated and couldn't get power to unit. I called them to ask if I could get if temporarily fixed because I needed laptop for work, imagine that. I wanted to make sure it would not void the warranty, tech said no problem just send it in. Emailed back stating they would not cover warranty because someone worked on it. Duh, I called to make sure warranty would be covered if I had someone make it work temporarily. Now they state I have to send it to the manufacturer, and it is not covered. Do yourself a favor and buy from a local, reputable computer dealer. You will save yourself time, money and grief. Check out the Better Business Bureau on these ripoff artists."

"Their site said that my stuff was in there stock room 2 days after I ordered, and it all stayed in there for about 3 days +. I emailed them after a week and it turns out that their supplier of the mobo I ordered was out (they didnt tell me that until I asked where my stuff is) and I would have to choose another. So I chose another mobo and they processed the order. Well on 7/8 I emailed them because on their site still says "New Order" (which it said when I first ordered) and they have not emailed me back an explanation of any sort. After all that bs, you'd think they'd atleast give me free next day shipping or something, but it looks as though that I'd have better luck walking to Ohio and looting the place. Today, their site says that my order is in the assemble department."
