"Have bought a lot of kit from Span, and delivery service is great. Last order for 5 WD14tb disks had 3 DOA. Before Xmas, and they closed for 2 weeks. Paid to return disks expecting replacement but they have sent them up the line. It’s now a month and I have a NAS halfway through RAID rebuild waiting on replacements. Business backup, so having to go to another supplier for 3 disks to get us running. (Broadbanduyer more reliable). SPAN may be a bit cheaper but now I am having to fork out £1200 extra to get going, and then will have spares on the shelf. They do not respond to emails either now. Shame - great videos on YouTube etc. but I can’t really afford to take the risk of buying from them again. I would have thought DOA qualifies for immediate replacement but it seems not. I also previously purchased a QNAP NAS with 32GB memory. Intermittent reboot problems and SPAN disinterested. Turns out the memory (fitted by SPAN) was faulty. I had to buy replacement memory (off Amazon) - no problems since but again, I pay the price for shoddy goods."

"I wasnt sure whether to choose the DS918+ or 418play for my needs so got onto their live chat option. Answered quickly and was given good direction towards the better one for me (418 play which was cheaper than the 918 which was a bonus). The have a free build and test service which I took them up on and had the 418 installed with 4x WD 4gig drives and set up with SHR option (after the explained the difference between SHR and RAID as Id not had a Synology before). Ordered on Friday, arrived fully set up ready to plug in on Tuesday. Couldnt ask for better."

Judging by the YouTube videos they make and communications with them - you could really think that this is Top of the line company for NAS & Computer parts.
The sale itself went relatively smooth and Lucas (the sales rep) was responsive and seemed to be reliable.
Unfortunately I've found in a hard way that when something goes wrong - besides replying to your email - they will take no responsibility for their actions and actions of their carrier (TNT).
I've bought a NAS & a router for 2200GBP on June 9th 2017.
The router was banned for import to my country due to transmission on one of 5GHZ bands used by the military.
With any other company - the router should have been returned back and refunded (minus logical shipping fee for the freight back. Although it is not my blame for the ban imposed, but also not Span.com).
At the beginning they've responded that their carrier - TNT, and a system crash due to a hacking. As weeks and months went by, there were other excuses:
"We've send a claim letter to them and got no response"
"We're will have a meeting with TNT to sort this out"
"We're not working with TNT anymore due to this case only FEDEX" (Like this helps me).
"TNT Local carrier doesn't respond to TNT branch in GB" - this one was actually a lie, because I've sent Lucas 2 phone numbers and Email of local TNT rep with whom I've spoke about this.They could've easily make a call and sort this out.
Unfortunately - local TNT can't act on this because I'm not their customer, and Span.com failed to take any responsibility in this case.
Couple of weeks ago - I've got an update from Lucas that the router was found and will be returned, BUT they will deduct no less then 155 EUR for the shipping of the router!!
Just for the info - shipping of NAS (DS3617xs) that is over 20 pounds & router (1 pound) to here from UK was charged 180GBP in total on the way here.
Any self respecting company would have and should have resolved this by now(in Amazon - the would have refunded without any questions asked on the spot).
Unfortunately for me, SPAN.COM isn't one of those companies.
My last email to Lucas was replied that he has no further updates for me regarding the refund and that I shoulf refer to their finance department. I did so. They never replied.
Seems like the only resolve left is to file a claim with HM courts as UK law seems to be on customer side in this case.

I Hope the reader will take notes and be advised to purchase from dealers & work with reliable carrier and have a decent customer service that can support a customer in case that something does go wrong with the order. "

"Worldspan present themselves as specialist when actually they are a poor boxshop happy to sell the drives but not happy to fix the faults.
I have had to pay to return and insure a brand new drive that had an intermittent fault, I delayed more than 7 days to test that the fault was real. Every communication with Worldspan treated me as though I was the problem when the new drive was faulty and they weren't prepared to deal with it. The Shipping and postage instructions was a page of disclaimers, more interested in blaming the customer than helping, it didn't even contain the return address. Never agin will I buy from Worldspan Span.com or advise my clients to. "

"I ordered some (WD) hard drives that stated 32 MB Cache and those I received had only 16MB. I mentioned the mistake on Spam’s website and NOW it has been corrected. Instead of simply apologizing for the misleading specs they initially falsely blamed the manufacturer for not providing precise information and then Span showed me a disclaimer "...Specifications shown are our best interpretation of information supplied by the manufacturer". I didn’t like this attitude so I’ll stay away from them in the future.
In another instance I received a PSU which was DOA and I had to return it on my expence.
