Customer Service?

"It only takes one employee to give the store a bad reputation. The older lady who treated me rudely today (Oct 6 at 4:00pm) at the Kendall store is that one person. I have purchased 10 bookcases from this store but after this horrible experience, I will not be purchasing anything else here. Customer service counts and while she might get a paycheck no matter how she treats customers at some point the company needs to pay attention to all these reviews citing poor customer service and begin weeding out the bad apples. Consumers have choices and I for one am choosing to spend my money elsewhere."

Shipping is a Joke Customer Service is Rude

"Absolute JOKE!
2 days after my order was placed someone scanned a barcode on the box in a warehouse in Texas. It sat there for another 8 days. I have been bombarded with spam from the container store several times a day since my order, but not one single shipping update, order number or tracking number. On day 10 I called "Customer Service" where a very rude lady insisted that it had left the Texas warehouse on its way to California (I am in-between both locations). Finally, since she could not or would not answer the simplest questions, she abruptly said it will be delivered on the 23rd and hung up. Moments later I received an email with tracking links that both said "Check Back Soon" Now it is the 23rd and one of the links states they missed the pickup time and it will be delivered tomorrow. THEY CHARGE YOU FOR SHIPPING!

Too bad their customer service is horrid!

"I ordered $198 worth of kitchen plastic containers. Way more expensive than anyone else's, but theirs are the best. I typed in my current shipping address and billing info and hit 'complete purchase.' After a while, when my stuff didn't arrive, I checked the tracking info, and they had shipped to my old address. I went on customer service and was put on hold forever and finally hung up on. So I tried the online chat. That person, 'Natalie' immediately said it was my fault, not their problem before I even explained all the details. Once I told her that I definitely entered my correct address and it was their error, she said it was too late to fix since it was already delivered and I should try finding the people it was shipped to (in NJ--I'm in SC!) and asking them for the merchandise. This is why I wont be shopping with them ever again, and this is also why Amazon is so huge. Amazon would send me new stuff in the interest of retaining me as a loyal customer, so would Walmart. Container Store could care less!"

Moderate reviews and "Cancel" Negative ones

"Purchased an order online and after waiting WEEKS, I finally received it. I wrote what I felt was a fair and honest review of the item, nothing inappropriate, but the kind of information I would have appreciated when I was deciding to purchase this item, (which had glowing reviews) My review was not accepted for "not meeting their guidelines", without stating what particular guideline I didn't meet. If TCS "Cancels" negative reviews, then they cannot be trusted, and I will no longer do business with them."

Horrible Customer Service

"It is sad that I have to give them one star, this is a beyond horrible company. Their customer support, when you can even get to talk to someone is the absolute worst of any company I have dealt with. They have no clue when items will be shipped or delivered, you can't cancel an order until it has shipped, figure that one out. Avoid this place like the plague. "

"Where do I begin they treat their employees so horribly. They have warehouse employees working in very hot condition its already hard to breathe with the mask on plus we are fighting the heat. While office mangers and office workers get to sit in the office with nice cold air. They let us know last week someone had covid but they didn't shut down only did "extra cleaning" yeah right! And now they are ending hazard pay its not even worth it anymore. They keep lying to customers that they will receive product in two week "

They should not be in business.

"I know covid created delays. However no retailer is as incompetent and untruthful as container store. I ordered 6 bins on May 11. June 3 and no word. But they charged me! Now its my problem to dispute. Nothing shipped. When you call they intentionally disconnect. When you leave a call back numbet you hear nothing.
Every other retailer has made good with purchases. Containerstore is disgusting. Take the website down if you cannot fulfill. They hide behind the BS of covid when it is reslly a poorly run, incompetent operation. If I could give zero stars i would. And i am not alone. Wish i read the reviews before i ordered.

Nothing Ships

"I placed an order on 5/15 for 10 items and by 5/30 I received one item and one item is in transit. I am moving this week to a new address so I called to cancel the remaining items. After being on hold for an hour and then waiting 6 hours for a call-back, the rep told me the order was in process with the warehouse and she could not cancel and she said they would ship soon, even though the site says some of my items are now on backorder until August! So then I asked if I could at least update my shipping address to my new address and they said- no! I have to wait for fed ex to ship to my original address, then call The Container Store with the tracking and ask them to call Fed Ex to re-route the goods! And the way that are shipping I will have to call them 8 more times. Absolutely unacceptable not to cancel an order that is in no way shipping soon. I kept getting "this is how our system works." I contacted the BBB as I need these goods now- not in 3 months. And how does a company in this day and age not have a live chat or email system for customer service. And when I did call the call kept disconnecting after you pressed the prompt you needed. This is why certain retail companies will not survive after this is all over."

No shipping or help during COVID-19

"OK, there's a global pandemic. Shipping delays are expected. Of course safety of workers should take priority over sending out a drawer separator. BUT--- be honest. Be transparent. Be communicative. It has been three weeks since I ordered something and I read the website's COVID-19 warning and update before deciding to place the order. Shipments will take 5-10 days. OK. Not great, but OK. It has been three calendar weeks since my order and Container Store STILL has not even created a shipping label. Occasionally (~1/week) I get an auto-generated "we still care, are still working on your order" e-mail. What is maddening, however, is that every day I get marketing emails hocking products and discounts and free shipping. STOP compounding your problem. If you're incapable of shipping the existing orders stop marketing and start packing. To make matters worse, their customer service hours are reduced and you get the automated message to call back during the correct hours when you ARE calling during the correct hours (unless they're on Zulu time and not making that apparent). Even the website customer service communication I sent last week is still unanswered. Yet, like clockwork I get marketing e-mails. ALL PEOPLE DOING MARKETING SHOULD BE RE-ASSIGNED TO CUSTOMER SERVICE ASAP. Stop marketing until you can serve your existing customers. Bottom line: Don't order from here. If you need something wait until the pandemic is over and go to a brick and mortar location. Though, apparently some of those will close because of the economic crisis. I can't help but wonder if they had treated customers better if they wouldn't be facing this problem. (We just bought a house and there's a huge "to buy" list which I would typically shop first at the container store, but not anymore. I'll be looking to bed, bath, and beyond, target, Walmart, etc. because I just can't trust I'll EVER get the products I buy from container store). "

Shipping is ridiculously slow

"Forced my entire Elfa closet order of 75 items to be shipped rather than being able to use curbside pickup because 10 shelves were not available. Waiting 2 weeks before even shipping is horrible customer service....and they charged my credit card so they have my money before even shipping."

Do not buy from this store

"Today is April 16, 2020. Yes, covid-19 is going around right now and things have been crazy lately. But my family and I are moving next week, which was decided a few months ago. So I have been shopping a lot of things for the new home. All the stores are closed and websites are having major delay in shipping, that's why I placed an order at containerstore.com about 3 weeks ago (and we have another week to go, so one month ahead of our moving date), making sure I would get everything at my current address. However, I haven't received anything yet.

The website says "all orders will be shipped in 5-10 days". I confirmed with the customer service and they even told me that it wasn't even 5-10 'business' days - it was 5-10 days. So I called the customer service 3 times this week and everyone told me the same thing - "our system shows that it is shipping out today, but the tracking number hasn't been updated." And finally today, there was a movement on my order. The tracking number showed up. BUT the shipping label was created and hasn't been shipped yet. PLUS this package only contains ONE THING out of 16 items that I ordered.

It is okay that there is a delay because this circumstance is really difficult for all the businesses, but just DON'T LIE! I'm sure I'm not the only customer who is having this problem. If they are having a major issue with fulfilling the online orders, please offer cancellation and refund if the customer inquires. They never had good reputation in the past regarding online shopping, but I am convinced this time that their way of conducting business is really horrible.

If I could give ZERO stars, I would

"I must say that the Container Store has one of the most unfriendly online stores I have ever used. That being said, after placing my order, I was informed that my items were "backordered" with no definite time period to be in stock. Immediately, I requested a refund and I was told that half the order was actually in stock and I would be receiving the items. Well, I only received the few items that they DID say were in stock and the website lookup on the order continued to state "Backordered". The customer rep, via email assured she would refund some of the items but that the few items she has previously said were coming were indeed still on the way. I finally after a few weeks, did receive those items and have been waiting for the refund on the remaining items they said they were able to cancel. ONE MONTH LATER, still no refund and I just received 2 of the back ordered items !! I don't want them now, She told me she cancelled the and I found replacements and her reply was to carry the giant storage boxes back to the store to get a refund, in the meantime, no packing slip was in the boxes and now I have to drive 45 minutes to retunr this and still no refund on the remaining items ! They will not refund you your money. This is the WORST customer service I have ever experienced and I will never shop at this store again, BUYER BEWARE !"

Credit Card Fraud

"I recently placed an order with a customer service agent and used my brand new Visa card. Within a few days I received a fraud alert via text message, email and phone call from my financial institution advising they declined 2 transactions. One was for a travel visa to the United Kingdom and the other was a restaurant transaction. Upon contacting The Container Store customer service and advising them that the only purchase I had made with my new VISA was with an online agent, I was asked what "what do you want us to do?". Seriously?! I want them to take this seriously and get to the bottom of the fraud going on under their noses. First of all find out if any employee is traveling to the United Kingdom and if so, they would have found the rat. As we all know, there is never one rat - if this was done to me, they have done it to others. My advice to shoppers is to be diligent and check your credit card transactions on a daily basis to ensure you are not being defrauded by online customer service agents using and/or stealing your identity and credit card information for their personal use."

Damaged or used products sent.

"Purchased 32 Amac boxes of various colors, half came scratched, smudged, or both. One even had a trapped hair in it. I either had to find a store to return them or pay for shipping. Poor customer service."
