Smartbuyglasses.com is based in china and Charges you for returns!
Their website states that if for any reason you do not like your glasses (I ordered Frames Only) that you are responsible for the return amount. That is fine. I am okay paying for return shipping.

My frames were too large. I requested a return and they sent me to a web page that wanted to charge me an additional $14.99 on my Visa Card.
THIS POLICY IS NOT STATED ON THEIR WEBSITE!!
I am very uncomfortable with this unfair solution. I prefer to take the package to the United States Post Office myself and get a Tracking Number.

Bait and Switch - they do not have access to the brand names they advertise

"I purchased 3 pairs of prescription glasses from Smart Buy in January 2023. I decided to go with this vendor because the specific brand and model of frames I wanted was advertised on their website. Immediately upon placing the order and paying for it in full I was informed the brand name frames I had requested (Guess brand) were not available and that I would need to be backordered for a few days. Those few days was later updated to 11 days. In the meantime the other two pairs of no name frames I ordered where prepared, shipped and received by me. After 16 days of not hearing about my backorder I followed up and and was informed that they could not tell me if and when the Guess brand frames would be available. At that time they offered a refund or to switch my order to another no name frame and give me a 5% discount. I am very unhappy with the bait and switch tactics of this company. No amount of customer service support changed the outcome. They have no apologies and simply state their supplier is backordered. Meanwhile the frames I want are readily available at conventional optometrists here in Canada. Don't waste your time with this company."

DON'T FALL FOR EASY RETURN POLICY CLAIMS

"Do not order frames from SmartBuyGlasses. I tried to make a return and the customer service is AWFUL. I didn't get returned for my entire return and they have made me repeat myself to multiple reps, all of which asked me the same questions before passing me to someone else. There was clearly a processing issue with my return, but instead of taking responsibility for it, they asked me for photos (!!) of the box I returned. I am out more than $700 and have little hope of ever getting my money back."

"Bought a pair of in-stock sunglasses only to be emails the next day that the item happens to be unavailable and must take weeks to be ordered from the manufacturer. This is total bait and switch. Now that they have my money I’m SOL. Do not buy from these scammers!"

Horrible online shopping experience

"I paid $200 for the glasses and received a message that they are back ordered. I waited a few weeks, while my money was taken and now I received an email that they are shipped, by according to the tracking number, it’s shipped from Hong Hong! So now I’ll have to wait about 3 more weeks to received most likely a fake product. I don’t think that I can get a dolce&gabbana glasses from China…so I made a chargeback on this transaction and I’ll refuse the delivery of these fake glasses in a month or two. Stay away from this website!!!"

Accepted order they were unable to fulfill and lied about status for 8 days

"9 days after placing an order I called for a status update and, after being given the runaround for over 2 hours and disconnected multiple times, they admitted that within 24 hours of my order being placed their supplier informed them that the frames I had selected were out of stock with no estimated availability date but they had not notified me and their website continued to falsely state my order would be delivered on time. They then refused to provide any compensation and I am still waiting to receive a refund for the canceled order."

"Bought a pair of Tom Ford frame from them and the logo oxidized just 3 weeks into using it! Couldn't replace because sold out! Asked me to pick something else... Goodness gracious.... I spent twice the amount on my prescription lenses... And now I'm caught... Left me without no option but to use this defective frame... Like it or not! "

Horrendous service/Glasses never delivered (stay away from them)

"Their logistic team was never able to tell where the product was, or give a reasonable ETA.

I kept receiving preposterous emails from CS providing completely unprofessional answers, with clearly the sole intention to buy some time. They use an obviously dilatory strategy of switching people from the CS who's dealing with your case in order to confuse you.

Frankly, I felt this website could actually be a scam. I would discourage anyone buying products from them.

another scam site

"1- This company is run out of Hong Kong and the Philippines, with sub-standard customer service/support
2- Their claim of 100% satisfaction guarantee refers only to them getting paid, but not for customer service/support or warranty.
3- good luck trying to get your money back on defective glasses or bad prescription... they will make returning the glasses difficult and expensive to ship the glasses back to them
4- polarizer films not installed properly on the lens with a lot of stress marks along the edges. This can be seen by the human eye, but is emphasized in front of the lcd monitor. These people do not stand by their product and say that this is normal.

Worst online shopping experience, bordering on a scam

"The worst online shopping experience I have ever had. Literally. Wrong product received, somehow two different lens types in the same order. Was told, first to send photos as they didn't believe me, photos sent, advised someone would come back to me in 72 hours, which they didn't, was then told another 72 hours. Then they said I could either pay to send the lenses sent in error back from Dubai to Singapore registered post: then they would wait to receive them, and then dispatch new lenses, so something which they told me would take two days has taken three weeks so far and will likely take another two weeks including my having to pay to return the product sent in their error. So I'm still using my old lenses. Or they said they would give me 20% off a completely new order so I would have paid 180% of the original cost plus all the inconvenience. The worst customer service I have ever experienced by far, do yourself a favour and DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY."
