"The sunglasses purchased did not at all look like what was displayed on the catalogue. I will not recommend purchasing from this merchant. Furthermore, refunds are not an option which makes this whole business a little suspicious."

Scammed out of $266.95

"I did all of my research when trying to buy glasses online. I looked into getting my prescription, including getting my Pupillary Distance. What absolutely no one told me was that I needed to measure the bridge distance before buying new glasses. My current glasses have a bridge distance of 3/4ths of a inch, and the glasses I bought have a bridge distance of 7/8ths of an inch. I tried wearing my new glasses for a few days, but it divided my vision in two because I could always see my nosepads. It doesn't matter, because there's a NO RETURN POLICY for buying glasses online. There was no way to exchange my glasses for a new pair, or go somewhere to have the bridge adjusted (since it's online). Buying glasses online was one of my worst mistakes."

Case is not authentic Tom Ford

"My product arrived to the US from China on the date the tracking said it would. The Tom Ford sunglasses appear to be authentic, but the case was a knock-off. I've purchased this model four times and most recently from Nordstrom's and compared them. I contacted SmartBuyGlasses about the case not being authentic or original and they told me that the cases are not included in their authenticity guarantee and then continued to say they stood buy their "authentic products" yet only offered a 5% discount for the fake case or to return the sunglasses. "

Total Scam

"First, for US customers, this is not a US company.

I can't find out exactly where they are located but my order originated in Hong Kong. Their website states locations that include New York, but, they only have contact info for their foreign offices in China, Hong Kong, and Italy. Further, a search of the New York Department of State corporation database shows neither the parent company nor smartbuyglasses, not sure how that works. Later correspondence from the company stated that the New York "office" is only a return facility, no mention of if it is their facility or just a third party whose location they are claiming.

After making a purchase, I received a shipment notification and the tracking, from a company I'd never heard of, showed the origination in Hong Kong. Further, the email indicated there might be customs fees involved which I would be responsible for. In fairness, they said they would refund me for the fee amount, but this was not part of my purchase agreement. I attempted to cancel the order but was given the run around.

Who knows if the products are real or not, most reviews on other sites state they are not. What I do know is the company changed the terms of my purchase after they took my money and are now giving me a hard time about a refund, good thing I have a good credit card company.

Stay away! This company's practices are, at best horrific, and most probably, illegal!

UPDATE:

Since the company doesn't answer its phones I used their chat to discuss my issue with them. Katherine promised me an update within 24 hours which did not happen. When I reached back out, she still had nothing to say other than read the FAQ's.

Additionally, minutes after my initial review on another site, Michael reached out for some additional information which I provided immediately, nothing since even though he promised help.

After double checking the site, process, and emails, I have a little more info. While they state they have an office in New York, it is only a "return" facility for US orders, nothing more, again, don't even know if it's their's. The first mention of any international shipping, etc, came not on the site, not on the purchase confirmation email, but in the shipping email, after which they are giving me the runaround.

So, again, they were extremely deceptive prior to taking my money and now are going out of their way not to return it.

Avoid this company at all costs!!!

Fruad , don’t get suckered by this company

"I just placed order for rather expensive pair of glasses . Went though website and paid for glasses, they confirmed and sent me email confirming order and payment details .. when I used website customer service chat (as customer service number does not work) to find out details and expected time table for shipment (I wanted to pay extra to ship faster if possible) . I was informed by customer service the item I paid for was no longer available , and I “could purchase similar styles” ..when I expressed my frustration at this development , and asked for refund to my credit card , ..they had nerve to say I could “cancel the order” (an order they say they can’t deliver but still charged me for “...and then say I will have to file a refund claim, “ if I don’t wish to change to another similar frame “ ... All I can say is , everyone don’t get conned by this company...I fully expect to have to call my credit card company to fight this charge

Complete utter fraud. Lose your money dot com. No product No refund yet!!!!

"Ordered Prescription glassess when they were so called " In Stock" on 19th Nov. Did not receive the glasses as they are still stuck in some dodge courier transit route in Frankfurt customs. Has not moved an inch!!! And lo and behold, after multiple emails with the customer service and chat support, they tell me that I cannot get my money back until they recieve the item back in their warehouse. Which means if they dont get their product back, i dont get my money back. The company is comply shoddy and shady, they have managed to get some paid reviews as well. However mostly everyone is dissatisfied. All the agents in customer service are train to copy and paste template responses and not resolve customer problems. They stopped responding to my emails, however when I raised a paypal dispute, they came and kinda indicated me to close the "dispute" to get a quick refund. However thats not how it works. Customers are always not gullible and waiting for you to cheat them. Refund my money asap!!! Enough of your nonsense. I will find every website when I could copy and paste this review until you resolve my problem. NOTE TO READERS: IF YOU DONT WANT TO LOSE YOUR MONEY OR EXPERIENCE PATHETIC CUSTOMER SERVICE, AVOID THESE LADS LIKE PLAGUE!!! BUY LOCAL OR FROM SOME RELIABLE WEBSITES, MY BE YOU WILL PAY 50/100 MORE BUT THAT WILL BE WELL WORTH IT. ATLEAST YOU WILL HAVE YOUR GLASSESS ESP. Horrible communciation which caused major delays

"The glasses I purchase were defective and so I returned them. The customer service person said they would order a new pair right away. I asked if I could choose another frame because the ones recieved were on the thin side and broke at temple with little use. I picked a frame at was $25.00 more and the customer service person said no problem and said it would be ordered right away. A couple weeks later I get an update that glasses have arrived and they were sent to their lab to have the perscription filled. The next 3-4 updates say preparing for delivery. A month and a half go by and no glasses. I reach out and now am told before they can process, they need payment for the difference in the frame cost. Horrible communication, if any payment was required to process that should have been asked for on the first day of ordering. Not a month and a half later and certainly not after sending updates that made it sound as I would be recieving the glasses any day. They have much to learn about running a business!"

Vuarne-gative!

"The actual sale part (where they took my money) was fine but since i have had the glasses for almost 20 months and been able to wear them only maybe 3 months.

The pin holding the right side "temple" or arm or whatever that is called has fallen out many times. I do not live in a major city that has sunglasses paces that can make this fix. So when i travel into Washington DC, I have found nice opticians who will do this fix.

I contacted smartbuyglasses and of course they say it is a Vuarnet issue.

I am tired of companies passing the buck!

Even a 50% refund would be fine!

Please recompense me smartbuyglasses and i will recant this bad review!

Painful and slow

"They refuse to provide invoices/receipts until the product ordered has been shipped, which takes a month... Terrible service, had battled with customer services for several days before someone actually knowledgeable provided me with a semi decent answer; the company has experienced lots of fraud so now have a painful process for their products. The products are not bad but the entire process makes it not worth it. Would recommend visiting any optical store over this company. "

Poor and Shabby

"I have order Okley frame from smartbuyglasses.in . So its obvious that i have ordered to an indian ecommerce site and the delivery is also to an Indian address. Couple of days later received mail from a courier company stating my shipment is with customs and to get release i need to send my id proof. I sent it though i have different opinion. After couple of days another request from courier company requesting to pay 4068 RS for custom duty. This is stupidity. I can get same frame much lesser price. Poor response from customer care. Not recommended.

Complete con. Damaged and fake product

"Received Persol sunglasses with chip in one of the lens and inconsistencies in the quality overall. Would have never pass Persol quality control. Also the etching of "Persol P" on one of the lens was incomplete. Finally the end of each arm at the hinges are roughly finished. Three defects out of the box deserves a one star rating. So much delay in delivery

"I ordered my glasses on 27th of July 2019 and today is 25th of August 2019. This is my Order ID
CA0506525622G. It is been one month I ordered the product. This is really pathetic. Through the customer service I have emailed my query multiple times. But nothing special happened till this time. They have reduced 2.5 dollars totally due to the delay of the glasses. That's all they have done till this time. When I check the status of the product through website, it is showing" lens processing " but for the last 2 weeks I got an email stating that ready for delivery. What kind of tracking system is this? On website they are showing a different status when compared to the email. I am totally frustrated as my old spectacles is broken and I have been using that for one month. Waiting for your reply and I desperately need that glasses as quick as possible. Anyways totally disappointed by your delivery system. I am damn sure it is not even shipped. So kindly, respect your customers first !!!!!

Don't do business with SmartBuyGlasses.com

"Do not do business with SmartBuyGlasses! I ordered a pair of NIKE prescription glasses and received them in a GUESS carrying case and the company has not been able to resolve the issue by sending me my NIKE carrying case. I've sent/received a dozen emails, sent/received a dozen emails, but they will not call or provide a phone number so BUYER BEWARE!!
Secondly, my high index lenses have numbers, symbols and letters etched into them that you can see if you hold the glasses up in natural daylight...again trying to return/exchange is an uphill battle with this company. AVOID DOING BUSINESS WITH THEM!! US0498839622G

Military Personnel- Do not use this company.

"y initial order for frames and lenses was April 21st. They told me the lenses were lost in transit, so they canceled and reordered. Over six weeks later, still no shipment. After significant delays and bad communication, on July 3rd they finally said there was an additional issue and the order could not be shipped. Horrible experience. I've asked to speak with someone in management. We will see. Military and everyone, do not use this company!"
