"I am so sad I did no read these reviews until after my horrible experience with them. Nothing new to add really. Same story, different day. Apparently they have no desire to improve their service. Won't take back the skates, even though they are faulty. Manager would not speak to me. Representative was condescending and insulting. I was completely disgusted with this place."

"I encourage everyone to read reviews before making a purchase from this company. For me it was the worst online shopping experience. Multiple issues: product that was advertised inaccurately, customer service was NASTY as well. In addition I am still fighting them to get back the money that they owe me. Please, keep in mind: I mailed the UNUSED item back the next day after receiving it. Stay away from them. There are plenty of great online business that sell skates. Skates.com is definitely NOT one of them. Honestly, if I am in San Francisco, I would file a small claim suit against them."

"all the bad reviews are right on the mark. i had a terrible shopping experience with them, that took months of e-mails and phone calls in an attempt on my part to resolve it. finally, my credit card company dealt with them, and that was the only way for me to get my money back. i'm appalled that this company still exists after all this time."

"They are BAD!!!!! Sent obviously used skates and when I called they asked for pictures, I took them because they were in such bad shape and I paid more than $200 for the skates......Horrible customer service, do not order from them."

"Whatever you DO NOT order from Skates.com. They are horrible!! I purchased a pair of skates for my 6 year old. They came in broken. Within minutes of the skates arriving and recognizing that they were broken I called Skates.com. They said we are not sure how to handle it and asked if I could send them pics. I did. It took almost a month and many, many calls to them and to the manufacturer of the skates to help me get my refund. They refused to refund the shipping claiming they didn't know they were broken when they sent them (does that mean if they did know I would be eligible to get my shipping costs reimbursed?).

Again DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY. YOU WILL BE SORRY!!

"BAD SERVICE. I asked their advice on what size to order and the rep told me to go bigger and stuff something in the toe... for derby!? It seemed unprofessional. I did not receive any email confirmation about my order and when I got my skates they had sent the wrong size! (after talking with them about what size to order and going with what they recommended) There was no invoice in the box when I received the skates and I had a hard time getting ahold of customer service. I also received knee pads and a grommet tore out of the fabric when I put them on for the first time. When I called to discuss these issues they were very rude. I finally got the guy to exchange everything and he said he would ship them right out as soon as he saw movement on what I was sending back. 3 days later (and 2 practices without my skates)I called to check the status and they hadn't even shipped the new pair! The new guy knew nothing about my situation and said the exchange wasn't even in their computer. Im still waiting and have heard nothing on when they will be shipped. I also can't seem to get through to talk with anyone. In the mean time I have no skates and am missing practices and they have my money. Frustrating! I would never use them again and would discourage anyone from doing so."

"Wish I would have read all the negative reviews before I ordered, took forever to ship, then the size was off, tried to return them and I had to pay to ship them back!!! Called the so called customer service and asked to speak with a manager and she said they weren't in then I called her out and said it is 11:30 a.m. pacific and there's no one in charge and she hung up on me!!! Do yourself a favor and DON'T order from skates.com!!!"

"ordered skates for my child from skates.com. When they finally arrived two wheels are loose. I tried tightning the screws that hold wheels onto axles( stupid skate design). The srews will not tighten all the way. One of the wheels came off while skating . I called skates.com and after about 4 days I received an email . They informed me that I would need to send the skates back to the manufacturer to be fixed or replaced. I WOULD HAVE TO PAY ALL POSTAGE AND SHIPPING.
Are you freakin kidding ? I paid $ 75.00 for a pair of lame skates and the company wants me to pay to send them back . Bad business ! Do not order from this company

"Every negative thing other reviewers have said about skates.com is true--I believe it when they say this company tries to charge YOU for return shipping when they [frequently] send you the wrong product. In the span of four days I experienced a rude customer service rep (who didn't care enough to get my address correct but refused to confirm my address and payment info with me), a supervisor named Rubin V. who didn't give a damn about my complaint, and the wrong skates delivered to me--plus the supervisor made it sound like he was doing me a FAVOR by not charging me to ship back the wrong product to him(!!??) This company is staffed by incompetents who don't care or know jack about customer service. I called the folks at Connie's Skate Place, and the owner was a sweetheart. I would rather give Connie's Skate Place my money than skate.com!"

"I called before buying skates for my daughter. They advised me what size to buy, they ended up being the wrong size. Now they want me to pay s/h to send these back, and s/h to get the new ones. The customer service is terrible, and if you ask for a supervisor, they leave you on hold till you can't take it anymore and hang up! DO NOT BUY FROM SKATES.COM you will end up paying for the discount you think your getting in the long run with return s/h fees!"

"I have placed 2 orders with Skates.com, and this is a review of my second experience. I ordered a pair of Moto 90's a few months ago. Fast forward to today and I needed a new set of wheels (I was doing over 50 miles a week). I ordered 8 K2 replacement wheels with ILQ9 bearings.

The price was great.

Shipping was prompt.

One wheel was defective.

While I initially feel like the customer service was lagging in taking care of it, it turns out the CEO, Lee Cole, got involved personally because I would presume it's an odd occurrence to get a wheel that was in the condition mine was in.

I shipped the wheel back to them, my only criticism is that I feel they should have paid shipping.

However, they sent me TWO wheels and paid for 2-day air to get it back to me.

Overall, very pleased with the resolution.

"I ordered a pair of skates that qualified for their advertised free UPS shipping ( http://www.skates.com/shipping-s/104.htm ). The item did arrive within the time frame of 7-10 business days, however the courier was not UPS, and at no time did I receive a shipping confirmation notice. As of today, my order on the website is listed as "Processing", with a comment that the item had been Drop Shipped. I called customer service on May 18, which is how I found out that the item had indeed shipped, and the rep also told me that they were waiting on a tracking number from the warehouse.

I'm not sure if the shipping confusion was the fault of Skates.com or the warehouse they sent the Drop Ship order to, but the shipment was not UPS as advertised. Having said that, the item did arrive when it was supposed to, and with a coupon code, I ultimately saved a little cash.

"BUYER BEWARE! READ THE RETURN POLICY CLOSELY! Better Business Bureau report is NEGATIVE!

Timely shipping however poor customer service after the sale. Call the new sales line to get help. It is buried under the help link in the corner of the page.

If the skates don't fit, they will take them back. BUT...You WILL PAY shipping, you WILL PAY restocking and there on NO EXCHANGES. You will have to ORDER AGAIN, pay shipping if applicable, and wait an additional 3-4 weeks. If the size you need is not available, any discounts for shipping is not transferable to a different skate.

I ended up paying $35 to get NOTHING. BUYER BEWARE BUY LOCAL!!
