Disgusting Customer service

"Purchased multiple terms from Scan on 08/03, totalling nearly £1,000. I received the items on 10/03 and noticed the a CPU fan pin was missing on the motherboard (there were only 3, not 4). Called scan on 11/03 to make them aware so I could get a replacement, I made them fully aware that I had tried to install it as well and was not made aware this would be an issue. Once they had received it, I got an email from them stating that they had "declined my warrenty" as there was apparently more damage to the motherboard than I had stated and also evidence of installation was there. I made them aware that I attempted to install it and they could not provide me of any proof of the other broken components so this was clearly just their way of getting out replacing/refunding the item. Spent a few days back and forth with Scan demanding my money back and all they offered is a possible repair at the cost of £25. If I accepted this, they wanted me to sign a waver to say I am happy that they may not be able to repair it and there is no timescale given even though I was in my legal right to get a refund. I therefore escalated the complaint to the retail ombudsman, but unfortunately they advised they were unable to help due to the lack of co-operation they have given in previous cases. I therefore escalated this to trading standards and citizens advice who did confirm I was legally entitled to a refund, so again went around in circles with Scan who kept saying I was in "breach of my warrenty". Luckily Scan are google certified, so I took my complaint up with Google.  They refunded me the £150 I had spent on this item after a few days of correspondence with them and advised they would chase Scan for the money. This has only been fully resolved on
It seems Scan are happy to take your money but as soon as your receive a faulty item, they will do everything in their power to refuse a refund or help in anyway. I will never use Scan again!!

These guys manipulate Trustpilot reviews

"I gave scan.co.UK a 1 star review on Trustpilot for dishonestly overcharging delivery costs on an order. They advertised £4.85, which automatically changed to £15.59 in my basket......for a MICRO SD CARD.
They failed to address my complaint, instead they complained to Trustpilot, said I wasn't a customer (I have a reg. Account), and had my review deleted.
ANY COMPANY THAT DELIBERATELY ATTEMPTS TO CENSOR NEGATiVE REVIEWS should NEVER be trusted. There are lots of honest companies out there trying to compete with these losers, support them and give SCAN.CO.UK a wide berth.

Fraudsters

"It appears that scan employees are deliberately breaking rma's and blaming it on customer packaging, leaving you no leg to stand on.
Please do not part with your hard earned cash to these shysters. I'm just under £400 out of pocket.
If you need to return for whatever reason, take it to your local computer shop initially and see if they can fix it.
The worst customer service I have ever experienced in 30 years. I hope at least one person takes this advice and buys their computer components elsewhere.

"so first my order made on 11,11,2015
1 CORS 750W CP-9020015-UK Bronze
1 Intel Core i7 6700 s1151 3.4GH
1 2x8G CorsVengLPX Red DDR4-3000
1 Asus Z170 PRO GAMING Mobo
1 FOC ScanSure on Asus Motherboa
1 E Carriage
1 Auto. generated by E Orders

the order arrived i had allready taken out the older parts about 2 years old as i was upgrading
so any way got all the new parts in and powered up i could see from the side the fans where on with leds and the motherboard lit up
but the screen was not displaying saying no signal
so i powerd it down and checked every thing was right
it was all fine so i powered up again but the same no signal
so i tryed with dp and hdmi nothing
so i tryed on my other monitor with a dvi cable still nothing
i called scan i said there was a problem and explained the issue
so after some time they said they would email me an RMA number
you have to read the return print be shore to pack as stated
here is what was on the bottom of the RMA

PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR PARCEL TO A DROP OFF POINT WITHOUT HAVING RECIEVED THE UPS LABEL WHICH WILL BE SENT DIRECTLY BY UPS ONCE THE BOOKING IS MADE, FAILURE TO CARRY OUT THIS INSTRUCTION COULD RESULT IN LOSS OF PROPERTY FOR WHICH SCAN WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE

done then waited a day for the ups label to come throw.
i then got them printed out and drove the car to the ups pickup point
that was it for some time i was thinking they would not get back to me so i called them to find out what was going on they then said they had tested it (why had they not let me know)
and faults where found with the motherboard and the ram
(im thinking dam im unlucky two faults)
so any way it was arranged to have them replaced and sent back out to me (im thinking ok not so bad i just got unlucky on some parts

so days later the items listed above arrived
so i had to take out my parts as i needed you use the pc
then put all the new parts from scan back in
powered up and would you belleve it same again
no signal this was tested full setup to start
then i tested in every way i could i did 24 pin and 8 pin and the monitor direct in the motherboard to remove the chance that my gtx 970 was the problem even tho it work just hours before on my old parts
but the gtx 970 was fine
so still no signal from the monitors

so here we go again called the scan tech team waiting about 10 min even tho i was listed 1st in the queue each time

spent 30 min sorting out the RMA again
then waiting for the ups labels to be emailed more than 24 hours
packed it all up nice and and sent it off
so days later i found out they listed it as no faults found
(getting mad now)
so i called up again i don,t remember the guys name now but he said he was the tech manager
i gave him the RMA number and he read of what had been mailed to me there was then a long blunt chat from the tech manager with him saying i did not know what i was doing
allso saying i had damaged the first return my self
so this was going no where go so i said i would just like a refund
he said i could not get a refund and i would allso have to pay to have the parts i had sent back to them
to have them sent to me
(what is going on he wants me to pay them to return part that don,t work)
i said i would not pay and i wanted a refund
he said if i did not pay for the return i would not get a refund and they would depose of my parts
i know that i am legal intitled to a refund and i have sent them the info of the law on this matter i will allso list the site and the part that stats this

Online, mail and phone order sales
Online, mail and telephone order customers have the right to cancel their order for a limited time even if the goods aren’t faulty. Sales of this kind are known as ‘distance selling’.

You must offer a refund to customers if they’ve told you within 14 days of receiving their goods that they want to cancel. They have another 14 days to return the goods once they’ve told you.

You must refund the customer within 14 days of receiving the goods back. They don’t have to provide a reason.

"We ordered parts for a repair, specifically because of the timed dpd delivery option, so that we could be confident of getting a system back to a client today.
We then had an email on the morning of the delivery, to inform us of a delay. Contact sooner would have allowed us to cancel the order and get the parts on time, or arrange with our customer to have their system back a day later.
It's very unprofessional not to contact a customer when you are unable to fulfil an order, we won't be putting any further business with scan.

"Been a Scan customer for 15 years but my recent experience is far from satisfactory. Went on line to order and it came up as in stock deliver Monday. Fast forward to Monday no mail from courier so contacted customer services who implied I had ordered something that was out of stock, made no apologies for the fact that their IT systems had no control over stock levels and then sent a link to pay £1.29 to change to another model. They could of advised on the Friday or Saturday there was an issue instead of leaving me to schedule other deliveries for the same day and if they had the gumption to contact me I could of changed to another.

Instead I now have paid for the privilege of having to wait in for a delivery instead of working

"They really wasted our time and the communication was poor/non-existent.

We put in a £4K order last week for stuff that was in stock with next day delivery (and yes, they took the money straight away). Got an email saying it was delayed due to stock issues. A week later, it says items due on 28th August (it's September 3rd now) but still no dispatch. Called them up, turned out one tiny thing is due on the 14th, but they cancelled the order without batting an eyelid. Will see if we get a refund in good time, but basically they wasted a week for not notifying us of the state of the order and not really giving a care over the screw up. Total waste of time. Going back to eBuyer even if they don't have every item we need.

"Hi, alright let me start of my mentioning the good things. I bought a laptop from scan in February of this year, the machine itself is fantastic and does what it says on the tin, but what lets the side down is the customer/technical support.

When i received the laptop, i was given a CD which did not work on windows 7. No problem i thought, i'll ring them, my mistake, after an hour or so on the phone trying to get through i was greeted with a really bad tempered technical support person, i said the CD does not work with windows 7, his reply: yeah it does, oh no it doesn't i replied, eventually he saw my side of things and directed me to the manufacturers website where i downloaded the drivers. They still did not work so i bought windows 8 and solved the problem.

I have had other issues with windows driver power state failures which caused the machine to crash, i tried to call customer/technical support but they never picked up the phone, eventually when i did get through i was greeted by an arrogant technical support person who directed me once again to the manufacturers website which did not solve the problem. I tried to ring them back but they never picked up the phone. After months of trying i accidentally stumbled upon a solution. If you've paid over £900 for a laptop this is not the service you expect.

Recently i have damaged the screen on the laptop, i need it to be repaired but once again i have been dealing with the most rude and arrogant technical support staff who have no concept of customer service.

Would i buy anything from scan again? Absolutely NOT. You shouldn't either.

"Have purchased from a few times in the past, no issues, but then never had to use customer services or returns, this is where it goes seriously downhill.
Purchased a few items for a mini-itx pc build. As most will know, when ordering parts, rare to get all from one retailer. Items received from Scan, visually inspected upon receipt, Items appear ok and all parts present.
Inspected motherboard visually, appeared ok, however i did not lift the protective cpu socket cover as I never do this until i am going to put the processor in, at time of delivery, i was waiting receipt of other items from other retailers which included the cpu, memory etc, so could not begin pc build.

When all parts where present, i began the build, everything in place and ready for the processor to be mounted. I lifted the protective cover, and it did not look right beneath. However, not wanting to raise an RMA until 100% sure, I had to source a magnifying glass to inspect the cpu socket. Once I did this, my suspicions were confirmed, cpu socket pins damaged. So I raised an RMA and returned item to scan. Some time later, return was Rejected, no explanation, even though i put a cover letter with return reflecting what i have stated above. After many calls, and Scan stating a manager would call, to which a manager did not, after refused access to speak with a manager, they quote fault needed to be reported within 48hrs, reason for rejecting, yet they knew prior to raising RMA it was past 48 hours and they knew the fault. I took all reasonable routes on initial visual inspection, as a consumer i can not be expected to perform a forensic inspection on Motherboard. Now Scan are not communicating and have to go through a Paypal Claim. Needless to say, I will never use Scan again, will never recommend again and will seek to leave reviews wherever possible. It appears to me this item in dispute had previously been returned to Scan and then sent onto me, no way of knowing as most Motherboards as this one, was NOT in a sealed box. They state they will send faulty unit back to me, i state i will refuse delivery, they state they will seek permission to dispose. 2014 Awards? Hmmm, debateable. Many other decent I.T retailers, think before you use Scan, fine until things go wrong. Note to Scan: I WILL GET MY REFUND, whether through Paypal, Small Claims Court, Trading Standards. You do not make up your own consumer law, you have to abide by UK consumer law, you are in breach!

"Appalling returns service. Returned item, heard nothing at all from them. Checked on their website several weeks later that they had rejected the return for no good reason and kept my money. They made no attempt to contact me to inform me of rejection. When I rang to complain I was accused of lying! I am now £65 out of pocket and I will never deal with them again."

"Underhanded returns staff scammed me out of £350 refund.

I have had 25 years + experience building and selling PC in the past. I only ever build my own now and very close friends.
I bought a Board which turned out to have a strange fault 6 of the 10 sata points did not work.
I requested an RMA for a refund via the site tool. I received no response.
I phoned them up after waiting for 2 days to talk to someone who said he would send me an RMA. He emailed me with poor advice on how to get past this issue.
I phoned again and explained I was within the 14 statutory period and would like a refund based on the fact the product did not live up to its expectations. This is a legal loop to protect distance sales.
I returned the product using the RMA and the ton of cop outs attached to it which meant it had to be sent back in a very, very specific fashion.
After waiting 3 weeks with no contact I phoned and asked what has happened to my refund.
I was informed that there was 2 bent pin on the CPU slot which is mostly due to installation. In my opinion, this is absolute BS since most PCs will just not start unless it passes it bios check. and the system had no issues firing up.
This meant I could not return the board under the original plan and receive a refund, but they would replace the board. Which has no use to me whatsoever except to ebay to recover some costs.
Very underhanded and not a company to trust.

"I bought a sound blaster z sound card from them on 26/12/14. It arrived 30/12/14, not bad considering xmas and all.

However, the sound card was faulty. To my shock I discovered that they charged £30 to RMA the card, where they did not discover the same fault as I had found/experienced. Fact is, Sales of Goods Act is quite clear, if it doesn't work for me as it should, I am entitled to a refund/replacement, & they have no right to charge £30!

I spent days verifying the faulty card, installing in different pcs/re-installing windows in case of previous driver clash or on board sound etc. Still faulty, so I returned the card. The courier confirmed (signed for) delivery back to them on 19/01/15, but they say it wasn't received until 21/01/15? Anyway fault confirmed, and they sent a replacement and did not charge me the £30.

They asked for a review. I said that I would not every buy the card again, and the card I now have is the 3rd card, and the only one that worked correctly. Their review proforma asks for alternative products I would otherwise recommend. They don't stock the Xonar products I wanted to recommend, so they refused to publish my review because of that, and because I said how disgusting it was to charge for an RMA on a defective product. This charge is in addition to any charges you have to pay in taking the product to a UPS pick-up site yourself to return the product.

It is clear that their on-line reviews on their site are a sham, and they only publish reviews that suit them. I will never ever order from them again, even though I now have a working sound card. The experience is just too bitter.
