"****UPDATE****

Like any business, there will be times when something goes wrong. It is how a business handles these setbacks that separates them from being successful or being a failure.

I got a call from Kevin, he stated he is one of the owners, and felt that he truly cared about great customer service.

He apologized for the shipping issues, late shipment, and we both came to an understanding.

I feel confident to shop with them again. Knowing that if there is an issue (which I hope there wont be) - but if there is, that they will make sure they do everything they can to make up for it.

It was a shipping issue, which any growing business will have from time to time.

Thank you for making it up to me. I appreciate the product I bought. I appreciate that you took your time to call me and made sure I was completely satisfied even though there was an issue.

I'm very dissatisfied with my overall shopping experience with this company.

I've never heard of RytherCamera before but I saw a good deal on one of their cameras on their site. I checked out the reviews,on this site, and overall they were good. So I thought...

I ordered my product, Cannon T4i (body only), and I get a phone call from one of their sales rep Morris to confirm my order. I verified with Morris that I opted for faster delivery with Fedex and he acknowledged that I did.

The email I got stated that I'll be given a tracking number to track my package. Days later, and no email, I call their Customer Service line to kindly ask for a tracking number. I spoke with Shawn and he stated that I would receive the tracking number that Sunday and the package will ship next week. (That would have been two weeks!) - I might as well have opted for FREE DELIVERY.

Frustrated I told Shawn to refund me the Fedex amount I paid for and he kindly stated that wouldnt be an issue (I was wrong..it was an issue).

I did opt for faster delivery for a reason. Being that they are in NJ, I asked if I could go to their store and pick up my package. He stated to call him back in about an hour and he'll let me know if I can or not.

When I did he said yes I could pick it up but there was a mistake and I wasnt charged the state tax (which on the invoice they sent me via email I was) and that they'll just use what I paid for Fedex and place it into the sales tax that I was accidentally not charged. How convenient that the Fedex amount was the same as the sales tax.

I travel an hour to their store. They told me to be there at 5 to pickup the camera and I wait another hour before I get my camera. I travel another hour back all because of their mistakes and not one bit did they try to make it up to me.

I'm just glad this is over with. Never dealing with them again.

"Cheats. Tried to order Canon xa10, which was listed for 1309 USD. Having placed the order, I was called by their representative, telling me that the camera was a Malaysian model with the menu in Japanese and the US model was actually 300 usd more. Then the representative tried to lure me into the higher price by offering me a cheaper charger, which I didn't need. I had to cancel the order. Nowhere on the site it states the specs about the listed camera, making the customer absolutely unaware of the type of camera he is actually placing the order for. Big disappointment, will never use their services again. Be careful!"

"I received excellent customer service from a Ryther camera customer service rep named James. I had missed a promotion for faster shipping when i checked out and was set up to receive the Canon lens I ordered in 7 to 10 business days. Instead, James called me, changed the shipping method at no additional charge. As a result, I am now excited to say I will receive the lens by the weekend, which corresponds with my son's fifth birthday.

I have never had this experience before, or used Ryther for that matter, an am pleased to say I will be ordering from Ryther in the future as a result of James' service. Thanks very much Ryther!!

"Update: I received my camera - 7d body only usa retail. Victor and Kyle helped me with my order and were very helpful. I will be buying from them again. Thank you for your help with my purchase. I will update a few days after camera use and let you guys know of any problems!


I am writing this review because this is where I came to see reviews before I bought my Canon 7d usa retail from Ryther Camera - I just made the purchase and have not received my product yet - but wanted to put my rating up for other people who might be looking for info of this merchant. I talked to Victor and he helped me and was very helpful. I also called back and talked to Kyle and he was helpful also! Thanks to RytherCamera for their help. "Order was updated on Sunday, May 19, 2013. At that time salesman advised that order shipping would be updated to 7 days. As of today, May 25, the order has not been shipped. According to their website, the product ordered was in stock and should have been shipped within 48-72 hours. It is now approaching 144 hours! Two attempts leaving messages with customer service have resulted in no response. I have found the camera is available from other retailers for the same price.
OK, got the camera on 5/29. 10 days after ordering. Don't take sales pitch. Camera can be found all over for $1099 and extra battery is $7 to $10. I paid $1200... I know better, was napping at time of call and should have made him call back.

"I am a RISDY trained professional photojournalist and graphical artist; I have worked with multiple periodicals such as Condé Nast (mainly Vanity Fair, Architectural Digest, and GQ), National Geographic, Time Magazine, and Playboy. I have also shot for the NY Times and Daily news. I apprenticed with Steve McCurry, famous for his Afghan girl shot on Nat Geo; I've worked with Sebastian Junger and was a close personal friend and colleague of Tim Hetherington.

I was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 metastasized CNS Lymphoma, and given a finite amount of time to live. The discovery of my malady roughly coincided with the purchase of $14,000 worth of high-end photography equipment from Ryther Camera. I purchased a back up camera from them over a year ago and was so happy with my experience I went right back to Kevin. This may sound like a counter-intuitive maxim, but he is sincerely the most honest sales person I have ever encountered...and I’ve been all over the world!

With funds depleting, credit maxed out, and sold all non-essentials to cover the astronomical cost of treatment, I decided to call Kevin. In a sincerely altruistic manner he said, “I am sure we can work something out.” Today I traveled to their storefront location. I assumed I would be going to some industrial park; instead, in a polar fashion, they are located in the middle of downtown Linden, in an aesthetically gorgeous store that is setup meticulously and professionally. Dually operating an online store while maintaining a storefront shows a bona fide compassion for community and the essence of the profession.

I was greeted very warmly, as I admired the hospital-level grade of cleanliness. Immediately upon meeting Kevin face-to-face he asked about my health in a genuinely concerned manner; after briefly updating him we immediately began going through the plethora of items I was bringing back. He took three of his employees off of their daily duties to assist in order to expedite things. Kevin issued me a check for more than we had initially discussed, and on top of that gave me a point and shoot Canon that retailed for $300 for my daughter, who is only 6. I was blown away by his generosity and understanding. The majority of people in retail seem to lack moral understanding and ethics in general; that is probably because Kevin usurped the market on doing the right thing, even if it defies the principles of business.

I have items as well from another well-known store across the river in NYC and they blatantly will not work with me. I explained the particulars of the situation and the general manager said, “I hope you get better, but that’s not my problem and we will not offer you any kind of refund.” I tell all my colleagues to exclusively use Ryther Camera, for not only are they the best priced they are the culmination of the best principles, products, and people. I am forever grateful for all of Kevin’s help!

"Ryther Camera is a scam. i ordered A canon 6D. I put in my credit information and made the order. Then David calls me from Ryther to confirm my order with a credit card or paypal. Interesting because I never said anything about Paypal. Then he informs that I am ordering the international edition of the camera. if I want the US edition its gonna be an extra $600 bucks...Surprise surpise. The international edition is missing a charger, a battery and half the functionality of the US edition. Plus it does not arrive in canon packaging. No where on the site listing did it say that I was ordering the international edition. However the list did not have the all the features so it is my fault for not looking more closely. But they should be more honest and forth coming with their products. Plus if you use the free shipping option your product may take two weeks or more before you receive it."

"I had a great experience purchasing a camera from Ryther Camera today. I had questions concerning two different camera models and which would best suit my needs. Steve Warren not only discussed the options with me but actually double checked with an associate who reviews the cameras. We determined that for the slight difference in features it would be best for me to go with the less expensive model. Honest, straight forward information without any high pressure tactics. Personal assistance that you cannot get when merely ordering over the internet. I appreciate the fact that the camera will come by Fed Ex. Based on this experience, I would definitely do business with them in the future. Thanks Steve! "

"I ordered 3 Denon receivers from Ryther Camera. I worked with Stephen. For a competitively priced, quality, on-line electronics retailer, Ryther was outstanding, and Stephen was the face of the company for me.

Upon ordering, I was contacted and explained what I had ordered. We had to make some tweaks to the order, but that was easy. Ryther could have just shipped what I ordered and not bothered to tell me what I was getting, but they did not do that. They went the extra mile to inform me so that what I did receive was what I wanted.

When the shipment arrived, I received 2 of 3 products. I contacted Stephen, and he was quickly able to help me understand what the issue was. One receiver was out of stock and had been discontinued, so we worked quickly together to find a replacement. I was impressed with Stephen's knowledge of the products as he was quickly able to help me find an acceptable substitute.

Finally, while a substitute, the receiver I bought had a lower market value than the one I originally ordered. Stephen quickly refunded me that difference in market value.

My experience with Ryther and Stephen was exceptional. I know that online retailers sometimes get a bad wrap. Not the case for me this time. Stephen always quickly called me back and walked me through the order when changes were made to ensure I was satisfied, and I was extremely satisfied with this experience.

I'd highly recommend Ryther for great prices, high quality products delivered, and exceptional customer service. Very pleased customer.

"Ryther Camera advertised an impossibly low price on their website for the Canon 5d Mark iii. They advertised a price over $1,000 less than Best Buy or B&H. It doesn't take a genius to know that this company is not able to sell the same piece of equipment at that kind of discount, or they would go out of business. Therefore, it has to be a bait and switch price or the price for some imported or grey maket item. However, to be fair to them, I called and stated that I was in market for the real Canon 5d Mark iii, and Steven, the salesman, knew exactly the real USA model I was looking for. It was of course, priced close to the price of anywhere else, but I am promised the same camera I would get at Best Buy and for several hundred less. Steven knew what I wanted, was helpful, seems honest and was warm and proffessional. I ordered today, and I am promised the desired item in 2 days. I'll let you know how it turns out."

"**A one star review - changed to a five**

I purchased the USA Canon 6D from Ryther Camera on May 9th. I needed a new camera for a wedding that I have to photograph this Saturday (May 18th). I called called customer service before I placed my order. I told him that I loved their price, but I was still on the fence on buying it... Last time I ordered a camera from them, it took a really long time to get to my house. He immediately offered to upgrade my shipping to FedEx. And I quote "The Canon 6D will be delivered to you between the 15th - 17th of next week. How does that sound?" Well of course, I bought it.

Here we are now on next Wednesday the 15th. I called Ryther Camera to get an update on my shipping. Would it be delivered today? Customer Service explains to me that my package will be delivered between the 17th - 20th! I have a wedding on the 18th that I need this camera for! I bought it from you because I was promised to have it no later than the 17th... Now the 17th is the earliest it will be delivered. Deliveries never come on the first day it's promised!

I am not pleased.

At the moment nothing has been resolved. I am waiting for the Shipping Department to return my call. I will change my review if it is fixed.

Update:

I talked to Kevin (x101) on the phone and he apologized for the inconvenience. He explained that my package had been shipped incorrectly. He resent the Canon 6D and included an extra battery free of charge for me which was very nice. I was told once again that my package will be here by Friday. This time I was given a FedEx Tracking number. The website has not activated the tracking number yet.

So now I wait to see if I receive it before the wedding on Saturday. At the moment, I am impressed with the response that I received... I was not expecting it.

I will continue to update this review as it unfolds.

I am about to leave town for the wedding and to my amazement, I have the Canon 6D in hand. Everything looks to be in order on the camera and the battery that they gave to me for free is actually a decent battery.

Ryther Camera, you have won me over. I will be back and gladly purchase from you again. Thank you for caring so much for your customers.
