Do not do business with this company

"Do not rent from rental cars.com. I rented a car from them two months ago, paid in advance and received an email from them on the day of my trip cancelling my reservation and stating I would not receive a refund. After numerous conversations with representatives of this company stating that they made a mistake and that I will receive a refund in "5-7 business days" I have received nothing. This company is engaging in fraud and theft. They are a scam. Stay away."

Avoid these fraudsters

"Very poor, avoid these fraudsters. I hired a vehicle with them for a trip to Malaga. I arrived at the airport and was waiting over an hour with all my family for the vehicle to be brought from another branch. When the vehicle arrived we were sent on a wild goose chase around the airport to try and find Goldcars other office, with our 8 month old baby, elderly grandparent and all our luggage. When I returned the vehicle I filled the tank at the airport filling station to make sure it was filled to the maximum. Since getting home I have been charged for fuel and a refuelling fee as well leaving me around £100 out of pocket. Rentalcars are not interested and just keep repeating the same that I signed up to it. When I returned the car the keys were taken off me and when I asked about paperwork Goldcar staff said it wasnt necessary. This is the worst service I have ever had. Will be going with a reputable company next time I go on holiday."

Horrible horrible Experience

"Worst experience ever. Thieves of the highest order. When picking up car in LGW Greenmotion staff were unhelpful and rude to the point i walked out and left. Called the worst customer service agents of all time at Rentalcars.com. Zero help and left me stranded. No refunds of any sort. I paid almost 200 Canadian for a car i didnt get. Worst experience ever. They didn't care. Worst rental car of my entire life. Run away !"

The Worst Customer Service - Still didn't get my money back

"I have rented a car in Turkey in August-September 2018 via rentalcars.com and I cannot express how terrible service I had.

The rental car company gave me a car with empty tank; we had to air up tires in the middle of our trip; they charged me extra for cleaning the car; and they've never returned my deposit. and more importantly, RENTALCARS.COM DID NOTHING ABOUT IT although I sought help multiple times. They did not help me at all. It's been a year and no solution was provided and I still didn't get my deposit back. Plus, it turns out I am charged $40 recently (a year after the booking) for a toll fee.

You cannot get in touch with a human to get help if you worked with rentalcars.com

They only allow you to email them via generated email system, which they don't keep a track. Each email, you have to include literally every information, including but not limited to order confirmation number, problem, what was communicated with the rental car company and what was communicated with the rentalcars.com, and all you get as a response is a generated email which includes their policies which you can find on their website.

I got my lesson from this experience and I felt obligated to warn everyone.

I will never ever book via rentalcars.com again.
Expedia, Orbitz, and similar ones are better because they support you when you encounter a problem with a service provider that you've booked through their website. They take customer satisfaction serious and take responsibility to help you have a pleasant experience.

Awful communication and customer service

"We aimed to hire a car with baby seats in Florence via rentalcars.com We gave 6 months notice . They emailed out a checklist which stated that one credit card was needed and also there was a link on the app labelled "Important information . Please read before picking up your car" This also stated that one credit card was needed. Pretty definitive right? Two direct communications one via email and one on the app. Well when we got to the desk of the company B Rental, they said we needed two credit cards. They also tried to sell us damage waiver insurance that we didn't need and then told us that they had no baby seats. So on two levels the booking was useless.
Rentalcars.com refused to take responsibility for their inaccurate email and app communications and pointed us to the small print. Basically their communications are there to catch you out it seems. They offered us a discount without saying how much discount but also advised us to call well in advance to activate this undefined discount and also refused to say what "well in advance " meant. So therefore they were offering nothing concrete whatsoever.
They have the worst communication and their customer service is shoddy and unhelpful in the extreme.

They are a scam and thieves!

"I had the misfortune of renting a car through booking.com/rentalcars.com. I got a great deal for a 2 week rental in London but when I got to the counter of Europcar the insurance I purchased through rentalcars.com was deemed insufficient and I was not allowed to take the car unless I paid an extra £700 which I did not have. Rentalcars.com STOLE $294 from me and would not refund it. I canceled that day and they gave me the run around for 2 weeks then finally said it’s not their fault and STOLE $294 from me. "

"I rented a car through them and had to pay more than they guaranteed. When I asked them for refund they ignored and replied all kind of evasive e-mails. Totally unreliable! "

It is a scam

"Same as everyone else review. Sad that I read the reviews after I had a problem with them rather than before booking.
My flight got delayed and I arrived about one hour late. My pickup time was 11 pm and the local agency closed at midnight. I slept on the floor of the front door until 7am when they opened to find out that my car was rented out to someone else for a higher rate. They said my reservation was cancelled automatically because I wasn't there at 11pm. The agency told me to fill out a form after the trip for reimbursement and gave me another car which I had to pay cash for about double the original booking. After completing the form the answer I received was: sorry we don't do refunds.
They charged me at the time of the reservation so they had my money like two months prior to my trip. I called them over the phone several times and I even emailed their CEO. Total waist of time.
This company is horrible. They should be ashamed of themselves for the way they do business.

Scammers!! Be careful!

"Money are charged immediately when booking online. First, I received a message in the mail that they are looking for a car, then a new message arrives that the car has been found and assigned to you. But when I came to pick up the car, I was told that there was no automatic transmission, there is only a mechanic at all distances, if you don't like it, go home and cancel the reservation. Office miserable and miserable. So also the money does not want to return! Guys - I really do not advise contacting these scammers. Pushers cheap!

Swindlers and fraudsters!

"A bunch of scoundrels.
I booked a car online, sent them my travel details, but their system defaulted my pick-up time to 12:00 despite the fact that I had sent them my flight details. Unfortunately, i was not vigilant enough to notice this error on the reservation.
Needless to say, on my arrival there was no car available and no refund. Also, no other cars available at my location the next day. When I complained, I was told to put in a claim at the end of the hire period.
I have put in a claim, only to be gleefully informed that there will be no refund and that I new the Terms and Conditions.
Yes I made a mistake by not addressing the fact that they had the arrival time wrong. But to use this to swindle me out of a 15 day rental fee is unethical if not criminal.

STAY AWAY unless you like to double pay!!!

"STAY AWAY unless you want to be double charged for your car rental!
We ordered a car through Rentalcars.com & paid in full in advance. After we came back from our vacation we find another (larger) charge on our credit card, this time from Budget.
We contacted Rentalcards customer service: Once they say this kind of double charge is a known fraud. Another time they say that the charge is for insurance (we took only 3rd party insurance and this charge wasn't for that). Once again they say it's not us - contact Visa (who say contact Rentalcars...) Every time there's a different story.
Bottom line is we rented through Rentalcars and if Budget double dip, they are the one who should protect their customers from that. They gave us the run around for a few months and bottom line say - Sorry. We really understand your point but you won't get your money back... STAY AWAY unless you like unwelcomed surprises!!!

Convenient for booking until something goes wrong

"I won't be using rentalcars.com ever again. We rented a car with them for a three-week holiday. The booking process was straightforward, price was okay, and picking the car up from Sixt was actually a pleasurable experience. Unfortunately, my father died unexpectedly just as we started our holiday so we had to change our plans and bring the car back two weeks early. I called Rentalcars.com and they stated that as they were only a broker we had to deal directly with Sixt to ask about a refund. When I called Sixt, they said that as we'd booked through a third party we had to deal with rentalcars.com to get refund. When I called rentalcars back, they were entirely unsympathetic but refused to change their position. The frustrating thing is that Sixt would have been happy to give a refund if we'd booked directly.

In short, although you may think you are saving a bit of money by going through rentalcars.com, their complete inflexibility and their total lack of sympathy at what has been a devastating time for us has cost us more money that we'll ever save, even if we book through them every time we use a hire car (which obviously we won't be doing ever again). Do yourselves a favour and go direct to the hire car companies and save yourself the massive hassle and frustration on the rare occasions where something goes wrong.

I should point out that I have no complaints whatsoever with my experience with Sixt for this booking and would happily recommend them and use their service again.

Seems cheap but very expensive at the end

"They manage to obtain cheap prices from the rental companies, but at the end of the rent these companies will always find a way to charge you for an extra and when you contact Rentalcars for support they will not take responsibility and tell you to contact the rental company directly. Watch out it looks cheap in the beginning but always very expensive at the end…"

WARNING: NEVER USE RENTALCARS.COM!!

"Until this experience, I have NEVER posted on a public platform and rarely review companies, but I felt compelled to do so with this rental car company, so that another traveler doesn't go through the same horrible experience with rentalcars.com as I did. My boyfriend and I planned a perfect romantic vacation in Santorini, Greece and followed SantoriniDave's recommendation of rentalcars.com (big mistake)! Firstly, they advertised our rental car as automatic (being Americans, neither of us can drive shift!) and we booked it as such, but when we arrived tired from a 10 hour journey to the AVIS counter, the attendant informed us that the reservation was actually for a manual and that this company is notorious for advertising automatic cars, but relaying the reservation information to AVIS as manual (he said it happens all the time). As you can imagine, we were scared and stressed that we wouldn't be able to get an automatic car without a prior reservation. Thankfully, Hertz had an available automatic, though it was almost triple the price we'd paid through rentalcars.com After an hour on the phone with multiple rentalcars.com agents, explaining their error over and over, we were told that we would get reimbursed for the original rental, plus the difference between what we paid for the original and what we'd end up paying for the Hertz rental. We followed their instructions to a T- cancelling the AVIS rental, submitting a receipt for the Hertz rental, and following up numerous times for weeks- AND THEY HAVE STILL NOT PROVIDED US OUR REFUND! We are both hard-working individuals who saved up for this dream vacation, in hopes that it would be a smooth time, given all of our efforts in planning. But now we are flabbergasted and stressed about how shrewd and cunning this British company is- making us jump through unnecessary hoops, preying on us, just so they don't have to pay us back money that is rightfully ours. NEVER RENT WITH THEM OR YOU WILL BE OUT HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS, STRANDED IN A FOREIGN COUNTRY, LEFT TO FEND FOR YOURSELF. If I don't get my money back soon, I'll be asking a lawyer friend of mine to step in."

Avoid Rentalcars.com

"Do not use this company once they have your deposit they will try and take the full payment without notifying you ( they did it to me 4 weeks before hiring the Car)
Then threatened that they would cancel the contract losing the good deal they offered along with other scare tactics .
Rather than settle closer to time of hiring or when the car is picked up .So I went direct to car rental company direct got it for the same price !
I then had a lengthy conversation which is documented asking them to show me anywhere where and when the balance was due which they said was in a note . No note existed in any communication with myself and Rentalcars.com
They then said the deposit is forfeit $150 again which is unacceptable but I MIGHT be able to claim it back but it could take up to 28 days so do I want to hire the car .
I told them if I do not get my deposit back in 24 hrs I’ll post bad reviews as there practices are unacceptable and people deserve to know .
Ps if anyone would like to se the Transcript of the above claim I’ll gladly post .
In summary find another company or go direct .
