Price in booking is lie!

"Prices in the site when booking are different from actual. In fact, the service forces you to pay twice for one booking: at the time of booking and at the time of receiving the car. The excess amount paid is denied."

Bait-and-switch operation

"I rented a car in Montego Bay, Jamaica through Rentalcars.com. They confirmed a low rate and that was it. My flight was late on that day and I attempted to cancel the reservation and they received the cancellation. When I arrived in Montego Bay, I contacted them and was informed that the rental charge was double what was quoted - so I did not pick up the car as this was clearly a bait-and-switch operation. Three days later they said they could not cancel the reservation and were billing me for the entire week. I have since disputed this transaction with my credit card company. Do not do business with this company - they are not reputable and indulge in a bait-and-switch operation"

Where's my refund?

"I paid for a rental car wit a credit card that was later hacked and therefore cancelled so I could not use the credit card for the deposit. I offered debit cards or cash but rentalcars just cancelled my reservaton. They suggested a few other options but they all involved a credit card and I'm waiting on a replacement. So no car abd no refund. Ruined weekend abd hotel reservations. Is this even legal?"

Money practically stolen

"I rented a car with them through lastminute. They sent me instructions to pick up the car with a credit or debit card. At the airport, they refused to give me the car because they only wanted the credit card. I asked for a full refund, and they denied it. Even though their own customer service confirmed to me that the debit card was possible following their terms and conditions.
this is their answer:
"We inform you that there is no refund option, we can no longer provide further assistance in this case.
I can assure you that we have considered the points you have raised. However, although I understand that it is a disappointment, we cannot change our decision."

the points I raised were that I have been denied the card even if I follow their instructions to the letter. I am now going via legal channels!!

Routed to a scam local provider and provided no help

"The company directed us to a scam local provider (BT car rental in Sofia airport). When our deposit was detained for a month, they provided no actual help in retrieving it. After we've involved the credit card company, the local provider finally responded (a MONTH after!) and suddenly claimed unreasonable fees, which again the company have taken no care to cancel.

The cheap price is not worth the lack of service - you can book with the local provider directly just the same at your own risk.

USA, Car paid 2x, no refund

"USA. Out credit card was declined, because the tried to charge EUR 3500 instead of EUR 300, which was clearly stated in the contract and TC. This was over the card limit. We had to use a second card to book/pay a second card, to not be without car on the airport. That was 2x EUR 1800 paid. Rentalcars did not refund the firts booking. We were not able to reach any customer support. They kept 100%. We issued a claim with the credit card company and succeeded. They charged rentalcars back and refunded us. Way to go!"

"The flight was delayed, I arrived later than planned, the rentalcars service worked very slowly, I couldn't even get to the consultant after waiting in line for 2 hours. Tired from the flight, I chose to go by bus. After all that happened I was refused a refund. Would not recommend this company to anyone"

rentalcars.com avoid at all cost

"I rent a car at Japan from rentalcars.com . the pickup time is 3/7/2023 4:00pm, I went to the shop at Japan to pickup the car, due to Japan do not accept the US drivers license. The local shop at Japan (nissan rent a car) cannot release the car to me, and they agree for me to cancel the book and get refund. Then I request refund from rentalcars.com (the agent), they refuse to refund me. The said I agree on the terms of drivers license. however, the terms also said I can have additional drivers , I told them not to rent out my can if they don't refund me.. Because I have the right to find other drivers with Japan accepted license. The rentalcar.com (the agent) cancel my booking without refund me.

Basically rentalcar.com double sell the car, take advantage of my license issue, and do not refund me. I think if they don't refund me, they at least keep my car not renting. Because as consumer I still entitle to have this rental for the full rental period, since they charge me full rental period price. The local shop at Japan (Nissan rent a car) can prove this and provide a written statement to me.

The local car company (Nissan rent a car) have the refund policy of 50% and maximum not exceed 6600 yen. ( which is fair .) However Rentalcars.com charge me full rental $772 USD.
As third party agent, they pocket the full price rental and did not honor the actual rental car companies (Nissan-rent a car) refund policy

The rentalcars.com did not give me the rental car for the period of my rental (i have the right to find additional drivers) , and refuse for cancellation and refund me even with penalty. The charge $772 (full price) even the local shop cancellation policy is max penalty charge 6600yen.
Nissan-rent-a-car is fair rental car company. I would go to directly rental car company Nissan rent a car, and DO NOT use the rentalcars.com (3-rd party agent). It is a scam company

I would avoid rentalcars.com at all cause.

Avoid at all cost

"Avoid! It’s a scam! Don’t be fooled by the cheap online price. It’s a broker, it doesn’t give your as much service/ protection when your book through car hiring company, especially when it comes to refund.
Once you made your booking and paid by credit card, they will not give your money back under any circumstances.
If you have time an energy to read and analyse all the fine prints and are ok with that then go ahead.
They bury everything in there to make sure they can make you pay extra or not to refund you.
Don’t buy their insurance on their website either, it’s a total duplicate with the car hiring company.

No refund for a vehicle we did not receive

"We had booked a car through Rentalcars.com for our trip to Aruba. The vehicle was booked through Avis. Unfortunately due to weather and delays, we did not arrive until 2 days late. I called the Avis agency on the morning of the second and they told me they could not hold my vehicle for that length of time, and that there was no vehicle available to us. We booked with a different agency when we arrived.
I reached out to Rentalcars.com for a refund since we did not receive the vehicle. They replied that they would not provide a refund since according to them, Avis said there was a vehicle available to us, despite the agent telling me otherwise. I feel that I should be entitled to the refund of my money since I did not receive any vehicle. I would discourage anyone from using Rentalcars.com in the future.

STRANDED AT EDINBURGH AIRPORT

"I hired a car from this company from the 12th December to 14th December as I had to return to the UK for a funeral. I booked through Rental cars. My flight was an hour late and when I got on the bus to take me to the car hire place I received an email timed at 7mins earlier, telling me that as the flight was late as a goodwill gesture I can pick the car up in the morning. So how on earth was I going to get home? I live in a rural area. So I had to rent another car. When I eventually arrived home I emailed Green motion to tell them I wouldn't be picking up the car in the morning. Today I noticed that it was deducted from my bank account. I contacted Rental Cars who tell me that as I didn't telephone their help desk I wasn't due a refund. I am 72 years old, totally stressed trying to think of how I was going to get home but should have remembered that I should contact Rental cars help desk rather than Greenmotion Car Rental. When I sent them the copy of the email cancelling I was told it had to be 48hrs notice. Although I was put in a seriously dangerous position of trying to make my way home. Please, please, anyone considering using Green motion or Rental cars DON'T THINK ABOUT IT. Oh they said they are giving me the insurance money back.
