Beware, Raise.com doesn’t care about fraud

"I received a bass pro shop gift card for Christmas 2017 that a relative purchased from Raise.com. Fast forward a year and when I go to use the card it has a $0 balance. After contacting Bass Pro Shops customer service I was told that the card was used in Mississippi on December 23 & 26 2017. Well I don’t live in Mississippi and neither do my relatives. I contacted Raise.com support on December 17, 2018 and they told me that “nothing could be done” since the card was purchased December 06, 2017. They were rude and condescending, even going so far as to say that “this is why you should use the gift card immediately.”

I think that the original seller sold the card and then turned around and used the numbers to buy stuff after they either a) didn’t get a sell confirmation from Raise.com or b.) knowing that the card was no longer theirs. Raise.com doesn’t care since the original purchase date is 2 weeks outside of the year guarantee period.

Stay away!!!

Wow...

"Just had a VERY negative experience here. Tried selling a card - what a ridiculous waste of my time. I really am not sure what even happened here. They claimed I input my email incorrectly - ending in .con instead of .com. I don't understand how the system could even accept this. I sent several emails, which were completely not responded to.

I then gave up on trying to sell my card, as it didn't seem to be selling, and I wasn't being replied to via email. Therefore, I tried to redeem the card with the store, and was told I had a $0 balance. Spent an hour on the phone with said store, having them tell me that the card was spent online. I then called Raise - finding their number at the very bottom of the screen in TINY print - seems they are trying to avoid being reached.

Spent 45 minutes on the phone with them - DID finally, and NOT easily, get my profit from sale of the original gift card. I was spoken to with arrogance, had a rude comment said towards me, and when I finally said that I would like to speak to a supervisor, the supervisor told me that they could give me $5 to spend on Raise.com for my time... LOL. $5. WHAT A JOKE.
MY TIME is WAY more valuable than $5!!! Wow. NEVER using Raise again and will be telling EVERYONE to avoid them! - Kim

Excellent Service

"I have been using raise for more than a year by now and have saved couple of hundreds of dollar in a year. I have zero complain about them. They take usually 2-3 business days to resolve the issue but it goes smoothly. Received gift card within 10 minutes almost 99% of the times! Definitely recommend it."

Do NOT sell here. You'll get scammed.

"As other reviewers have mentioned, there's no protection for sellers and no customer service. I sold a $100 Macy's gift card, they verified the balance, and then a month later the buyer used the card and filed a claim to get his money back. They'll promise to "investigate" the issue, then charge your card and stop responding to emails.

Go anywhere else. You WILL get screwed selling here.

Problem = No Problem with Raise

"I purchased a gift card that had some undisclosed weird terms. I called the vendor, no luck. Called Raise Customer service, walked through the issue. Service rep solved my problem and maintained a loyal and frequent user of Raise. A real person provided a real solution! Thanks!"

No refund if digital gc used by seller before you use it

"They will not refund you if your gc is used by the seller himself/herself (after you bought them). They have no system in place preventing sellers selling the same gc twice on another venue or if the sellers themselves use it after having sold it on Raise.com. bought 2 ihop digital gc $50 each in May 2018 and tried to use one of them the first time in October and it turned out the balance was 0. Lena said it was used in July at a location we have never been to and she didn't bother to check with us if it was really used by us. Since i was out of the country during the whole month of July, there was no possibility that i used it. Louis refused to refund based on his personal conjecture without considering the possibility that the seller or possibly another customer the seller re-sold the same gc to used it him/herself. He did not reply after our 2nd email. No one is ever on the other side of the phone. We were holding for 1 hour 45 minutes with the background music repeating itself. If your gc balance mysteriously disappeared even though it initially checked out fine, then you know what must have happened. Similar stories abound online with other customers. Suffice it to say that DO NOT BUY digital/printout gc from Raise.com. "

Great customer service; Money-back guarantee is legit

"I make a lot of purchases on Raise. It is an ideal service for people who want to save a little bit of money and can afford to buy larger gift card balances and sit on them until they are gone. I have benefited much from this service.

The reason for my review is this: I had 2 issues recently and Raise.com helped me exactly as I hoped and expected any good company should. Not all companies act this way. First, I bought an Arby's gift card a while ago and when I went to use it, the balance was gone. Some person, either the seller or some worker at the restaurant, took my gift card balance and "unloaded it" and stole my money. Raise refunded me for the amount that was stolen. Raise also says they have ways of going deeper and researching matters like this to determine fraudulent activity and kick out the people who are trying to rip others off selling gift cards and then stealing the balances later. The second issue is that some one put a Home Owners Bargain Outlet gift card online at Raise about 2 weeks ago for over $300. I bought it because I shop there a lot. It turns out that the workers at the store knew 3 weeks ago that HOBO was going out of business. They knew that HOBO was going into bankruptcy and would no longer accept gift cards due to bankruptcy laws. I obviously did not know this, so I bought a $300 card that was dumped onto the market 1 week after the workers knew they wouldn't be accepted. The store won't take the card. Thankfully raise.com has promised to refund me for this. This is "normal" customer service. I expect this from every company, but I also know that some times I actually have to threaten to sue the other company and/or make very bad reviews of the company in order to get that company to do what they are supposed to do. I did not have to do this. I just explained my situation and they helped me. Raise.com has a 1 year money back guarantee, and I believe in their word. I am a big fan of this company, so when they sent me an email asking for a positive review of their good service, I will oblige.

My bit of advice for customers on Raise.com: you can trust the physical cards, but the egift cards seem much safer and less likely to be stolen, and less likely to become wrapped up in some issue like mine, where the company is going down and some people know and dump the cards while others don't. The safest way I have found is by using apps like walmart, dominos, steak and shake, etc. because not all of these companies who issue gift cards have apps. Those 3 companies are examples of companies that have an app you can load balances onto. Buy the egift card, load the balance onto the app, and then just keep your phone on you. That's the easiest way. But I still would buy physical cards from raise.com, but only raise.com, and not any where else. I have tried using other sites before and have had them cancel my order for some reason. I have also had issues speaking to customer service at other sites. With raise.com, you may have to wait a while for the customer service to get back to you over email or wait a while on the phone, but they are a good company and their representatives will actually help you.

Bottom line, if you want to reap the benefits of discount gift cards, shop at raise.com, and feel safe doing so. Their money back guarantee is legitimate.

No Refunds Even if there is an error. BEWARE

"Purchased over $1000 in gift cards for Lowe's. I purchase from Raise all the time. Once in a while I check the "details". But because I have purchased so many, I didn't this time. Raise called me to verify my purchase yet while they had me on the phone, they could have also made sure I knew only 5 cards could be used at Lowe's since I purchased 9! They didn't bother and refuse to refund the others even though it was less than 5 minutes within the purchase. Really, they could have said something while they had me on the phone to make sure I knew I could only use 5 at a time - THAT would have been good customer service. I'll go to another gift card site now since Raise operates this way."

Don't sell with RAISE !!

"I listed a card and it was verified to be valid when listed. I sold and received the funds. Months (6 months) later I receive and email and a charge on my credit card for the money I received. Stating the card I sold had no funds. This is their attempt to sell to customers and feel safe, but where is the protection for the seller?? 6 months later the buyer claims there were no funds, with no investigation or proof provided, they simply charge the seller the funds and they keep the initial processing fee and everyone is happy but the seller. The seller is out of the gift card money. They buyer gets free gift card, Raise gets fees, and seller gets screwed !! No customer service or advocacy for the seller at all. It's a scam. I tried to call and get a robo system looping you for over an hour to the point of hanging up. You email the "collections" dept. and get NO response at all for validation of being charged. Just the word of the buyer. The seller has no recourse or defense. Seller beware."

Excellent customer service

"I had an issue with one of the gift cards I purchased. I reported the issue and received a response in under 24 hours, and they immediately resolved the issue! Raise has an amazing 1-Year money back guarantee which gives me the security and confidence to purchase from them again."
