"My daughter took 2 bins in and wouldnt let her watch while they went through it! They ended up taking almost new pair of rock rivals and gave her $14 for them. There is no way i would have aloud that! Way to screw over a teenager! Defiantly will not go back! Will stick to my regular stores and rummage sales!"
"Had I known it was a complete waste of my time I wouldn’t have bothered. The title of this store should be “teenage closet” because as I browsed through items for over an hour, I noticed it was a jumbled mess of Forever 21 and other cheap clothing with a few nicer brand items mixed in. Everything was clearly worn and not even looking close to being new. They didn’t even notify me when they were done going through my bag.
The site said they needed bodysuits so I brought in a brand new just purchased after Xmas bodysuit with the tag on from express, I also brought several banana republic dresses, a J crew blazer, pink leggings and VS sweatshirts, bras, Nike leggings and a very expensive lily Pulitzer dress. They never actually show you what they are keeping. She offered me $20 for everything and refused brand new $90 sauconys, sweaters and dresses. Don’t waste your time. Donate your things to the needy, they’ll appreciate it more. This store only wants cheap forever 21 garbage "
"All of the negative reviews on here and other sites are true. Be very aware if this place especially if you sell to them. I have noticed items missing from my bag that I did not get paid for and overlooked it...I will never sell or buy or go here again. "
"I went to Platos to sell me and my aisters clothes. Everyrhing was from the last year with name brands. My sister had a growth spurt so she rotated through a lot of clothes quickly. Many of which she never evn got to wear once. Me on the other hand, I have a bad habot of buying stuff and never wearng it so my clothes were all new and unused. For all my fairly used clothes I had donated the to Salvation Army and Purple Heart knowing well in advanced that they would never give me anything for them.
So I dropped off my clothes. Was told to wait 3 hours and come back. Cane back 3 and a half hours later and was told to wait another 30 min or so. Came back and the lady simply said "were not interesed in anything you brought. Its all outdated and/or worn." I wanted to call BS right therr an then. Everything I brought to them had never been worn EVER! I asked if she was sure and pointed out the name brands and quality. "Its not what were looking for for our store," she said, "Its all older. We only buy stuff thats less then 2 years." I explained to her it all was less then 2 years. It was just purchased in the last year (my sisters and I first year of a new school). It was crazy. She insisted ot was all old and not worth their time.
I am NEVER going back here again. I rather give it to the needy for free then fight with stuck up employees with no taste. "
"I was so freaking **** when I left there. They only bought 3 items for 9$. The guy sorting my clothes was looking at a dress they I only worn once pretty dress, I was like oh their going to buy it Yay... but he turn to the freaking lady she nodded I was like ok kool their going to buy it, turns out NOPE, THAT LADY WAS SUCH AN IDOIT. 2 pair of Jean's like new,NOPE DIDNT BUY. "I brought 3 Large Bags filled with clean and name brand clothing to Plato's Closet to sell. They told me that they'd call me within 2-3 hours once the clothing is all sorted. They never called me back so I called the next day. When I asked how much they're willing to give me, the individual on the phone said "sorry, we can't tell you over the phone for liability reasons". I didn't want to continue with questioning this so I said okay.
When I arrived, the individual working said they're willing to give me $4.30 for a winter hat and a plad mens shirt. On top of that, he gave me a large portion of clothing back to me because they aren't able to sell it!
I drove alllll the way there for them to tell me they're giving me $4.30 and to take my clothing back!!!! I can't believe they wouldn't just tell me over the phone because at that rate, it's not worth anyone's time!!!! On top of that, I had to drive to Value Village to drop of these remaining items.
I'm very **** off about this and would never recommend anyone to waste their time to sell their used clothing to this compnay. Complete BS!

"I would strongly suggest that no one ever do any kind of consigning with this so called lame business.
They gave me less than one percent for brand new high knee boots which was utterly a downright insult.
Also before I went into the store, I called and the manager confirmed that they were taking distress jeans and looking for sweaters and outerwear. I had a few bags of clothes that were in good condition with name brands such as American Eagle, H&M, Columbia and they said these were not current enough.
It is ridiculous, I would call them close to being literally frauds and simply a complete waste of time. The management should give some consideration for those whose clothes might not fit as well as they once did. "
"Someone told me this place is great and will buy my gently used and new items. Showed up last night with 3 bags and didn’t realize I forgot one bag with boots and shoes. I was told to walk around and it would take 15 minutes. I browsed and ocassiinally looked towards the register no one was looking at my clothes.
10 min later I’m called and told only one item was going to be purchased, a blouse. I said to the 2 employees there not even the rain boots?
(They were name brand and never used) plus I had my daughters brand new clothes, also name brand.
She said no sorry nothing here is the style we are looking for. I get home and realize the rain boots were in the bag I forgot.
Conclusion: they lied about looking thru my bags.
I am going back to Buffalo Exchange, they never make me wait unless there is a line And they look at all my clothes in front of me and decide if they will purchase. It’s a better experience. "

Very poorly run and the staff along with the manager need a lesson in customer service and manners!!!!! "Girlfriend and I brought a basket of clothes in they were brand new name brand shirts and sweatshirts and dresses most never worn before and they made us wait 3 hours and we came back for $5.30 because the name brand shirts logos aren't in "style" which they were bought in the past few years and said the logos are "worn" which is how the shirts are made. No stains, no holes. NEVER AGAIN PLACE IS A JOKE!!!!! Accepted a 5 year old dress but declined a brand new express dress and bought the $60 Hurley shirt and a homecoming dress for 5 bucks lol they should close it down."

"Brought in 2 pairs of brand shoes a few dresses and a purse! They offered me $17 for 2 pairs of brand new shoes and wouldn’t take anything else. The girl lied to me saying they were only able to sell them for $20. I declined the offer only to find that they had written on the bottom of my shoes and were actually going to sell them for $40.00!! They didn’t even get my ok to keep this stuff and now they ruined my shoes by writing on them in pen! They lie to your face and are so rude. "East Lansing- This store literally **** and rips every single one of their customers off. DO NOT try to sell your clothes here. One of the employees didn’t like that i asked for $1 back rather than 4 quarters so she threw the money at me and slammed the drawer shut and stormed away. Such a terrible place to try and sell clothes, they give you basically nothing for name brands. "
"Extremely poor customer service! I took in approximately twenty shirts all on hangers and all name brand. These items we approximately 1 years old and in excellent condition.
Sells clerk was extremely rude. When I questioned her the reason for not taking the items SHE rudely stated that the items were to old ,turned her back to me and proceeded to talk to her coworker.
I feel the service clerk had no ideal what she was reviewing because she was dress as if she had jumped out of bed and grabbed her dirty clothes out of her laundry basket!"
