"I sold gift cards to Plastic Jungle, and I'll start by saying that I ultimately got paid for my cards. However, I would NOT recommend doing business with Plastic Jungle.

After sending my cards off immediately after selling them online, using PJ's pre-paid (but untrackable) envelopes, it took 3 weeks for them to acknowledge receipt, during which time I was kicking myself for not paying for my own tracked shipment method. I finally received acknowlement of receipt, but I wasn't paid. I contacted customer service repeatedly, always being told it would be just another week or a few more days. I was told that the computer system was being upgraded, which resulted in my delay. I was even told at one point that payment was made to my PayPal account, when in fact it was not made. Eventually customer service stopped replying to my emails.

I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. They give 30 days after an intial complaint. At nearly 30 days, PJ responded to the BBB indicating that they were sorry about the delays but would process my payment as soon as possible, which is the same thing they had been telling me for 2 months. I responded that this was not acceptable because I had not received my money. The BBB then allows for another 10 days for a final company response prior to closing the complaint with an unfavorable result. At the end of the 10 days, I finally received my payment.

So, I did receive the money I expected. But instead of a quick PayPal payment, it took nearly 3 months to get my money, and much stress that I was being scammed and would not get paid. I will not do business with Plastic Jungle again!

"I'm going to keep this short and simple. Their customer is practically non-existent, I shipped my card to them almost 3 months ago and haven't heard a word from them and have not received a penny, and I was never sent shipping details for any of the other cards I was trying to sell (which is a good thing looking back on it since I probably would have lost those as well). They promise you 90% of the price on the card then rip you off. Don't waste your time.a"

"Hi all! I wish I would have checked these reviews before selling my gift card!!! I was screwed out of my Amazon gift card in exchange for selling a $50 babies r us gift card. I submitted a complaint to the BBB. Please follow suit so others will know of their scam! Here is my letter to the BBB.

Hi,
On January 21st I sold 2 of my gift cards (Babies R Us & PF Changs - $50 each) to PlasticJungle.com in exchange for an Amazon gift card worth $85.58. They told me they would send my Amazon gift card to my account 3-5 days after they received my gift cards. They credited my account with an Amazon gift card in the amount of $42.53 - essentially only paying me for one gift card. At the time I thought maybe they were still verifying the Babies R Us gift card but my account information did not make it clear.

On February 7th I emailed customer service with no response. On February 8th I called customer service and spoke with a man with a very strong accent and from what I understood he told me that they were still checking out my card. Later that afternoon I submitted a request for assistance on the plastic jungle website. I finally received a clear answer (screen shots available). He told me that my gift card could not be verified and gave me the gift card number and pin number. I entered this number on the Babies R Us website and the amount was $0. I called right the number to verify the $50 amount right before mailing. I am suspicious of this business' practices.

Unfortunately, the nature of this transaction required me to place trust in Plastic Jungle and hope they would not use the balance on the gift cards I sent. I looked up reviews online and found out others have not been paid for cards they have sold too.

I am submitting this complaint in hopes that other will read it & know of their unscrupulous business practices. I also hope to receive the Amazon gift card I am due for the one I sold.

"It took 3 weeks after they received the $150 BestBuy card I sold to receive the payment. They had a problem with my PayPal account. After trying several times to resend the payment they finally sent me a paper check. Customer service was very helpful after the problem was escalated to a manager. I think they are just having growing pains at this point. They are definitely a respectable company."

"Do not use Plastic Jungle! Here is a breakdown of what happened to me: I sold my gift card to plastic jungle and should have known what I was getting into when they "could not verify the card so please send the card to us and we will verify it upon receipt." So I sent it in, on a Wednesday, come Monday three business days later, I checked online and saw all the wonderful reviews about the company. And to my luck I became one of the same issues the others have had. On Monday after reading the reviews my order was cancelled. I called the customer service number and was told they could not verify the card. I explained how to verify the card to the customer service rep on the phone how to verify the card using the phone number and card information on the back of the gift card. I was then told to “give them 24hrs to check the information and they will get back to me.” I called to gift card issuer and verified the amount on the card myself. They emailed me to fill out there customer service problem page and explain the issue. I put a step by step process of how to verify the card and told them that I had done the same process and was able to verify the amount. The next day, I checked that balance of the card and nothing had changed. I called back 24hrs later and was told the same thing, unable to verify the card. I told them that I was able to verify that card the day before and before I called them. The man muttered something told me to hold, came back saying that they were able to verify the card and amount. Then I was told the payment and verification would be sent to the next level of the process to be entered manually and that it would take 3-5 business days to issue the payment. I argued and was told 3 days. I was also told that I would receive a confirmation email stating the verification and date of payment. Two days later, still no email I called back. I was told that they could not verify the card. I told them the situation up to that point and was told it would take 24-48hrs to figure out what was going on and that it will be sent up to the next level of the process. I argued and was told I would have an email that night explaining what was going on. Surprise, no email. I called again the next morning, was told they could not verify the card. I told them everything that had happened and was told it would take 3-5 days to figure out the problem. I asked for the person that was over viewing my issue. Put on hold and told the "supervisor" was reviewing my issue. Then was told by the customer service rep, not the supervisor, that the payment will be issued in 3-5 days. At this point I had had enough, I had been told that it was sent the next level so I wanted to speak to the next level to figure out what was going on. Then I was disconnected. I tried to call and call and call again but the customer service line was busy. Luckily I had made scans of the card and reviewed the policy of lost or stolen cards from the issuer. I was able to have the card replace and no longer deal with Plastic Jungle."

"I'm another sucker. I sent them a $100 Ruth Chris gift card with the promise of getting $78. Never heard anything and when I checked online it said "cancelled". Foreign customer service is completely useless. They said they would mail me back with my gift card because it was only good at 3 locations. never received card back after numerous calls. Don't waste your time. I'm going to report them to the Attorney General's office. It is a sham."

"I'm not going to waste my time telling the same story as everyone else. You won't get paid for your gift card. I've used ebay, craigslist, junkcard.com, cardpool.com, and are all better options. If anything, donate your gift card to charity, not some greedy company like plastic jungle."

"DO NOT USE THIS POOR EXCUSE OF A "SERVICE." Order are just cancelled out of the blue, AFTER they are processed and tell you to destroy the card. Cards sent in never get paid to PayPal account.

India customer service sucks, they have poor information about your order, hard to understand and ultimately hang up on you.

Save yourself money and grief by avoiding this company at all costs.

"I'm disgusted with the customer service! I sent a JCPenny gift card of about $60 and got an amazon gift code for $49. Was not worth it, but I still went on a shopping spree at Amazon. I tried selling a Best Buy gift card worth $28.34 I wanted to do the transaction electronically, but forgot to ask for that option. I went to customer service to try to change the method of transaction and it took me two days to finally have it cancelled, then when I try to redo the transaction electronically, the system wont let me because I've already made a transaction with the card (even though it's been cancelled). I've waited 3 days for a fix to this. I got a response from someone called "supervisor" telling me it would be forwarded to the appropriate person. Why couldnt he do it? He's the supervisor! Still no response and I doubt I will get one. I called Plastic Jungle and lo and behold the call was sent to India. She said the gift card couldn't be sold electronically (even though the option is given on the website). I just want to exchange my best buy gift card for an amazon gift card electronically. Is that so hard?? I tried CardPool, they're the only other website that offers electronic transactions. But they ask for credit card information. I don't have a credit card, but even if I did I wouldnt give it to them."

"Complete rip-off. Completed the sale of my $25 Hess gift card online, mailed it in - heard nothing for several weeks. I check online and it says my order is CANCELLED. I get customer service on the line - it's in India, of course - and he tells me that my order was cancelled for "technical reasons" and they will be mailing my gift card back to me. Of course, I never received the gift card back. Will be contacting the BBB. NEVER EVER USE THIS WEBSITE!"

"First the good news: I did get my money from the sale of a gc (as an Amazon credit). You want to know the bad? What a piece of doo-doo for a web site and customer service. The web site did not give me the current status of my transaction (like 'received gift card' and 'processing credit'). It did indicate the creation of the order and completion, but that was all. What was worse was their customer service. My first inquiry regarding my order was answered but several follow-ups were ignored. I did have the feeling that I was being taken for a ride. I will NEVER deal with this bunch again."

"Do not go through this company to sell your gift card under ANY circumstances. They are flat out cheats. I do not like to use such strong langauge, but they really had every opportunity to help me as a customer and after MONTHS, and so much effort on my part they did not resolve my complaints. the customer service has no continuation, it will not help you. Do not work with these pranksters whatever you do, DO NOT DO IT you will lose you gift cards and get nothing in return!!"

"I sold a $125 Home Depot gift card to them on 12/7/2011 and requested payment via PayPal. I have emailed, called, and opened tickets in their support portal to no avail. I have still not received my payment. I keep being given a different excuse, "The value verification system is down, "We have not received your card," "We received your card and I manually verified the balance, I have escalated and you will receive your payment in 24 hours," take your pick. I've gotten all those excuses multiple times via phone ... although no one has ever contacted me as promised, I always have to contact them. I have requested they either send payment or send me my card back and again, I was asked to give them 24 hours. I will be reporting them to the BBB and the Attorney General of the state their business is registered in.

Update: I reported them to the San Jose, CA BBB and within a few hours of receiving notification from the BBB that my complaint was forwarded to PlasticJungle, I had the first response ever from PlasticJungle that I didn't have to initiate. 4 days after, my payment was finally processed and deposited into my PayPal account.

I will never do business with this company again. It is my belief that they hope to stall you until you either give up because your time is not worth the dollar amount, or flat out lie because you didn't use a trackable shipment method.
