petco going down as a business

"Petco used to be my to go store,not anymore. My home location store needs to replace their manager,because they are always out of inventory. I stopped waist my time to go there and see empty shelves. I used to call them to see if they got my items on stock. Hearing NO all the time made me stop calling. Who ever in charge of product availability,must do better job,otherwise,slowly but surely customers will switch petco with pet smart."

The groomer from

"Dropped Sasha off at Petco to to get groomed. 4 hours later they call to tell me that they cut her on her leg and did I want her to go to the vet?? Hello.. what the HELL does you think! I get there and not one person apologizes, instead she says you probably don’t want to get that lie of a haircut!! Seriously that’s what you wanna say to me?? I said I’ve had her for 13 years and it’s never been an issue, why is it now? With dumbest look you ever seen she says I Don’t Know! "

"On the line thus far for 28 mins. Re-entered my credit card and address FIVE times. Each time the zip code reverts back to the old address and won't take the credit card. HUGE PAIN IN THE (fill in the blank)!"

Pet Allergies

"Don't go here if you have a pet with allergies. I needed to change my dogs food due to vet concerns with the food she was on, well the dog food I chose at Petco, go figure, she was allergic to it. I had been speaking to my vet and she had told me to give the new food 2-3 weeks to level out, so that's what I did. Needless to say 2-3 weeks didn't matter, she was allergic and that was that, so I attempted to return the food. Having returned food before at Petsmart (i went through this trying procedure once before trying to find food she wasn't allergic to) it has never been an issue not having the bag or the receipt. Let's face it 2-3 weeks go by, you've thrown the bag away because you want it in an airtight food container and I can't remember where the receipt is now. Petsmart looked up my receipt in their system one time and was able to look at purchases with the petsmart card to verify another time (i think i need to start keeping my receipts haha)...I also didn't have the bag, so I brought it to them in my air tight container. Petsmart exchanged it NO problem. Petco on the other hand...they wouldn't do anything, they said they can't look up my receipt, can't look up my petco card purchases, and absolutely will not take it back without the bag. Dog food is expensive and you guys are suppose to help pet owners support the health and well being of their animals...my girl has allergies and you guys were of no help with our issue. Having a dog with allergies issues I need a company willing to work with us, help us out, and most of all be caring and understanding. I will be shopping at Petsmart from here on out and enjoying their caring nature and superb customer service."

Warning Pet Lovers!!!

"Do NOT Shop at Petco!!

Very, very unhappy with Petco management. Refused to sell $2.00 FISH!!!
Contacted District Manager (Keith Dominick), NON RESPONSIVE.
Contacted Company VP (Tariq Hassan), NON RESPONSIVE.

Numerous complaints online about management!

I am sorry to have to take time out of my day to compose an email to you (which likewise takes time out of your day) to bring before you a very disturbing matter that should be of significant concern and warrants your attention.

Background:
My son, age 12, is a member of several Aquarium Societies and Associations in Maryland and Florida with an amazing, in-depth knowledge of fish and I, personally, have over 30yrs experience with breeding and owning home aquarium fish.
Currently, we have three (3) aquariums ranging from 30-gallon (breeder) through to 125-gallon.

Complaint:
Event date/time/location: Store #735 yesterday, July 21, 2019 at 6:45PM.

I requested of Scott, who posed to be our “sales person”, to purchase three(3) Chinese Algae Eater fish. Scott asked what size tank we had. For simplicity sake, I told Scott we had several tanks but that we would initially place the Chinese Algae Eaters in our 30-gallon (breeder) tank since they were so small. Scott left to consult with someone and upon returning stated that only one(1) Chinese Algae Eater could go in a 30-gallon tank because they can grow large. I told Scott that I appreciated his information but that we had several tanks and a lot of experience. I again requested the three(3) Chinese Algae Eater fish.

Scott said without hesitation that he would not sell me the three(3) Chinese Algae Eater. I again responded that I appreciated his concern, but I was a paying customer and if I said I want three(3) Chinese Algae Eater fish, I should be able to make the purchase. Scott immediately stated that he would not sell me the fish. I asked for confirmation, and again, Scott stated again that he would not sell me the fish.

I asked to speak to the manager. Scott said he was the manager.
I asked Scott for his last name. Scott said he would not give me his last name.

As you should already know, Store #735 has numerous complaints about management. Further to this, when I contacted Petco corporate Customer Service, they simply and foolishly routed my complaint back to Store #735 for resolution.
Scott needs to be fired. The store manager at Store #735 needs to be placed on administrative review. As you can see, I am, and will continue to involve and escalate this issue with Petco Executive Management until satisfactory resolution has been achieved.

As the CEO and President of an international company, I know first-hand that sales is the life-blood of a company. I am very, very disappointed however, I do hope you are better executive material than to let this slide.

Damaged canned dog food shipment

"I placed my first online Petco order for canned dog food, and will never order from them again. When I received my order for a 12-pack of canned dog food, 8 of the cans were severly dented as they were all packed loose in the box with no padding of any kind. I expected more from a company as big as Petco, so they just lost a customer. My business for online ordering will remain with Chewy. I thought I'd give Petco a try, but they blew it."

Do not buy fish or plants from Petco

"I bought some fish and plants from Petco. Within 2 weeks my tank was infested with ich. Fish I have had for over 5 years died. I had an angel fish that was bigger than my hand and catfish that were also very big die. They were the centerpieces of my tank and I am completely heartbroken! Do not buy anything from Petco!"

"The product is good. The hoops you have to jump through to get the product through petco is crazy. I ordered on 6/9, they didn't have my vets fax number, and didn't email me to let me know they needed it (They did however have the phone number to my vet but didn't think it was their job to call for the fax number). I followed up and saw my order was still pending....So I reached out (this was 6 days later after ordering) a rep then told me they need the fax number, I got it to them within minutes. They faxed my vet (my vet approved immediately and they have a confirmation fax showing the fax went through to the correct number provided by petco). My order sat for 3 more days and then they cancelled it without notification. I had to log in and look at the status of my order to find out it was cancelled. I then called and spoke with a supervisor, I ordered a years worth of trifexis through him and he assured me that my order would be expedited. That the pharmacy was to fax, then call if they had no response from my vet (which again my vet has the confirmation paper showing they approved and faxed minutes after receiving fax from petco). I reached out 2 days after speaking with supervisor and was told that they had heard nothing from my vet. I then had to drive up to my vet and hand off my phone for them to give verbal verification that my trifexis can be filled. I waited 2 days then reached out again to find out if my order was shipped and a chat rep told me she called the pharmacy and they said they had no approval from my vet. I explained that I was standing right next to my vet when they got verbal verification. I had to call and spoke with the supervisor Rachel, who was the ONLY one who actually got the ball rolling. She explained they did recieve verification and they were filling the prescription. The chat rep was wrong...Rachel also gave me a case number so that I didn't have to explain my situation over and over, if I had to call back for any reason. Today is 7/9...It took me a full month of fighting with Petco Pharmacy to get my do what he needed. I will never order from them again. The only reason I continued with my second order is because they gave me a $58 discount. I will shop at chewy.com which is ran by PetSmart, from now on. "

"My GoldenDoodle was literally shaved and even her whiskers and eyelashs were cut off. Completely unqualified to perform grooming services. Would not even answer the store phone to take my calls. Beware! "

Fast Shipping Missing Items

"Ordered 3 Seresto flea tick collars Monday evening, they arrived Thursday. No complaints on shipping or packaging. I ordered 1 dog 2 cat. Received 1 dog 1 cat. Called customer support. Very hard to understand the customer service tech. I shouldn't have to repeat myself multiple times. Customer supports reply was it look like your item has been lost and I replace it and add it to your card. I informed her that I had already paid for it and will not pay for again. After talking to tech support I would make zero stars if I was allowed to. Shouldn't take 20 minutes to do this when I was able to reach a real person in under 2 minutes. "

Don’t use their repeat delivery service

"I have used Petco’s repeat delivery service for delivery of 6 cases of canned cat food and 5 boxes of cat litter monthly for 2 years. There is NO consistency in how they are packaged and delivered. Many months I have the cat litter delivered with one or more boxes opened and poured out inside the cardboard delivery box. Several times the cat food is delivered with cans loose and damaged inside the cardboard delivery box. The shipments come from all over the country and obviously Petco does not train their employees or care how they package the shipments. I am tired of constantly calling and getting credit for their incompetent service so a I am cancelling my service. The last insult came today when I called and got a representative in the Phillipines who offered me a $5 coupon for an order mistake that cost me $25. "

Worst Company EVER

"I ordered medication for one of my pets. After 4 days, they still had not processed the prescription despite my vet being in contact with them directly three times. I tried to cancel my order 4 times within 5 days of ordering because they were not processing it and was told I couldn't cancel my order. Excuse me, what? ELEVEN DAYS later, they process my order and ship it against all my requests and refused to give me a refund. There is no one to talk to. I have asked for management over and over again and I'm always told that they are busy and will call me back. They never did. I've been told over and over again that I will be kept up to date via email. That never happened. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS unless you want to be strong armed into buying their products. I will NEVER buy anything from them again."

Don't waste your time or money!

"Called Drs Foster & Smith on 3/6 to refill a prescription and was told I needed to be transferred to Petco to "REFILL" my pets Rx. Never told by Petco rep that my RX did not transfer over and therefore needed a new script from Vet.
Waited until 3/17 still no script received so I called Petco and reached a middle eastern call center rep. Explained reason for call and inquiring about a maintenace prescription for my dog. Only then to be told at this time about the need for a new script from VET. Never got a call or email even though had been a customer for years!
I demanded they cancel my order and refund my money ASAP.
Got on Chewy and placed order for medication, they immediately contacted my Vet who immediately sent new script, new Rx received on 3/20.
Checked bank on 3/19 and lo and behold no refund, called Petco again, assured ordered would be cancelled but had to be done by Pharmacy - still never told uses Express Scripts not in house.
On 3/21 still no refund, called again after 1 hour call disconnected. Called back explained again the reason, transferred to 2nd escalations manager to be told about Express Scripts and need for them to cancel order and that they have been advised again! and it would take another couple of days for refund.
Every call center rep sounded like in India, took forever to get to the Escalations Team, long hold times, high prices and crappy service!
