these crooks have taken advantage of their Team Performance Buyers Club Members

"I learned that performance bike went belly up and the crooks that bought the name are not honoring the credits that the buyers club (a service which you had to pay for) members have accrued. This is very disheartening and I urge anyone looking to purchase bicycles/equipment to go anywhere other than to performance or nashbar or any other company affiliated with the crook who bought the name. "

Way too expensive and fraudulent company

"This company is the worst I’m glad they’re going out of business, they charge too much and can’t even do repairs correctly. I was charged $330 for filling up my tires, replacing a new tire, fixing my breaks, adjusting my seat and handle bars, and getting some oil on my chain. All for $330 so not worth it because after got my tire fixed it broke again the next day and then when I went to another bike shop Incycle Bikecyles they didn’t even charge me! Said that I didn’t go over the amount to the point where I would be charged!! How amazing is that? "

Atrocious E-commerce!

"Used PB website to order a $3,000 carbon fiber breakaway frame. after placing the order I waited several hours thinking I would get email confirmation. It never came. After 3 days I called up and demanded a copy of the sales order and my credit card receipt. They assured me it would come by email immediately. It never came. I called back and demanded the documentation of my purchase and a ship date. The sales rep told me he would send me a "screenshot" of my order since apparently PB hasn't figured out how to automate that process. I demanded to know when the merchandise would be shipped. At first I was told 3 to 5 days. Then I was told by the end of the week. Then I was told we really don't know when it will be shipped because it's not coming from us it's coming from an outside vendor. At that point I demanded the order be canceled in my credit card not charged. The rep told me that it was not possible to cancel the order because an outside vendor was providing the merchandise!! PB has no control over a large part what they sell because they don't control their inventory. So the intention to go ahead with the transaction even though they failed to send me a sales order, and failed to provide me a ship date. I called American Express and immediately flagged the purchase. Then I demanded PB cancel the hold on my credit card. During this entire process the representative seemed kind of stupid and unaware of how backward and inefficient their e-commerce system was. I deal with a lot of nice eCommerce bicycle sites but Performance Bicycle is by far the absolute worst. I don't know how they stay in business and I certainly would recommend you go elsewhere for any cycling related need. "

Terrible Customer Service!

"This place is the worst! I bought a bike on 23 June 2018 for my adult son as a birthday present. The bike came to $1270.18. They sized him and said they didn't have the bike in stock so they needed to order it. They said it would take one week to come in after looking it up in the computer. I paid for the bike and we departed. The $1270.18 charge hit my credit card on 25 June. We called the store on 29 June to check on the status. They then said they had made a mistake and ran it like we had actually purchased a bike and left the store with it. They said they would have to cancel that order and rerun the purchase. My wife gave them her credit card number and they reordered the bike. On 02 July, they sent us a note saying the bike we ordered is no longer in stock. I then called them to say please just cancel the order. I asked how long it would take and the manager said he didn't know because the cancelled order had to be run by their corporate office. I told him this was unsatisfactory and wanted them to run my cancelled order today. He said it was out of his hands. On 04 July, I sent an email to their online customer service and their reply was
"Dear GREG, Thank you for your email on order ***-***-****. The refund will process for you within 7 to 14 business days. We apologize for the issue and time frame.

It is unbelievable that on 04 July I may have to wait another two weeks to credit my account for the purchase made on 23 June. They really don't care about their customers.
I am so frustrated because they botched this entire order. I will never give them another dime due to their unprofessional attitude and practices. Go somewhere that cares about their customers. This place just plain ****!

Empty Box and the Team Performance Two Day Shipping isn't

"So early last week I ordered a Team Performance Membership to get two day shipping and the set of chain rings I needed shipped sooner rather than later. Looked on line the next day and items still not shipped and order "processing" I called, doesn't know when but triple points coming Friday so recommended cancelling chain ring and reordering on Friday which I did. Go to order Friday, website wants to charge for second day shipping even though included. A call which I shouldn't have to make fixes that. Praxis Chainrings finally ordered. Box arrives Tuesday (yesterday) . Huge box for little flat box. Open box, look at chain ring box and it's empty! No chain rings! Someone ripped them out and sent me an empty box! Another call to Performance and they apologize and said will send right out. End of day today check status, shipped ground even though I am Performance Member and entitled to 2nd Day! Another call nothing they can do, no idea if even shipping today. This was their fault, they should at least shipped 2nd day if not overnight. They don't care. Other on-line bike retailers I user would have overnighted it no questions asked. Other stuff I ordered this week before non using 2nd day not shipping same day. So it might be two day once it ships, but what's the point? Lesson learned. As other reviewers have said better to go other retailers and pay more for better customer service and hassle free shopping."

Horrible business practices

"Just like every other reviewer here, I had a terrible experience with Performance Bicycle. Even though their website tells you exactly how many bikes are left, this is completely inaccurate. After I placed an order, the bike was never shipped. I called customer service multiple times and was given a different explanation each time, to get me off the phone. The first time, I was told that the item was being ordered directly from Fuji and that would add an additional two days to my order. Three days went by and I never heard from them so I called customer service again and I was told the bicycle was backordered and would take an additional 3 to 5 days. Again, never heard from them 5 days later. Then on the third call I was told that the bike may or may not be available and there is no guarantee I would ever receive the bike. These are very deceptive business practices and should not be acccepted and allowed to continue.

If you had a similar experience with Performance Bicycle, you should lodge a formal complaint with the North Carolina Department of Justice - Consumer Protection Division (Performance Bicycle is headquartered in North Carolina). It is easy to submit the complaint online:

What They Don't Tell You About Next Day Shipping

"While browsing jerseys in the online store, I came across the perfect jersey for a charity event in which I'm riding. I'll be traveling to the event in a couple days. I paid extra to have the jersey shipped over night. I got an email right away letting me know my order was received. Near the end of the business day, I got concerned that I had not received an email that the jersey had shipped. I started a chat session with a Performance rep. The rep told me they had no control over when some things ship because they are shipped by another vendor. She suggested that I wait until the end of the day and see if it shipped. The jersey did not ship. I called customer support this morning and was told the same thing. This rep went on to say it could be as much as two days before the jersey ships. I asked why they offered next day arrival on things they did not expect to arrive the next day. She said it happens a lot and was very frustrating. She said she would refund the over night shipping charges.

Lesson learned. I will no longer shop at Performance. Retailers, if you are wondering why Amazon is kicking your ****, this is why. I should have ordered the jersey from Amazon and I would have received it in time for my ride. Performance (and others) need to get their act together.

Cancelled Order

"Drove to a local Performance Bike store to shop for a pair of shoes, and they didn't have anything in stock bigger than about a size 12. Trying to support local businesses I decided to place an order online from Performance Bike. After placing an order I received an email disclosing my item was backordered but was estimated to return to stock within 10 days. Two days later I received an email that the item was no longer going to be stocked and my order was cancelled. Just placed an order with Amazon, shoes shipped today and should be to me in two days, yet all these smaller businesses wonder why they are struggling. "

They lie to get you off the phone

"Ordered my bike and two days later was told it was on back order by email. I called and they said they were checking stores for the bike as it was last years model and they would call me back in another 2 days. A week later I called them as they didn’t call me and the lady on the phone said she could look for inventory right away, WTF. She found my bike and said I would receive an email about it the next day. Another week went by and no email. I called again. This time I was told my bike was shipped and I would get an email. They finally did call me the day after I was told my bike was shipped and I was told they don’t have it anymore. WTF. I was given alternatives at the same price. I had to think about it. Emailed them about a couple other bikes and then decided to go with what they originally offered me. Once I called to place the order they said that the price I was quoted was wrong and they wanted to charge me more than my original order after they lead me on. Complete waste of time and they will lie to you to get you off the phone. They are a bunch of jokers. Call bikeshopewarwhouse and they will match their prices or Kozys bike shop in Chicago. Don’t waste your time at performance bike. "

"I had very worst experience with performance bicycle. My first order was cancelled after 2 weeks and re-ordered another bike which was also cancelled in 2 weeks. Waste of time in doing business with them.

They don't have inventory and when you order it will take them 2 weeks to figure out the availability with manufacture.

Horrible customer service.

"Horrible customer service. If there is an issue, good luck in getting it resolved. They could care less about your business or the issues you are having. Received item, it had been previously open and missing half the parts.

I have never been to a worse bike shop in my 30 years of cycling.

Pedal away as fast as you can!

"Awful! Sales staff is untrained and are little more than kids with summer jobs. We were sold the wrong bikes the first time and had to reorder. When the correct bikes came in - nobody bothered to notify us. Bikes were assembled as if they were purchased at Walmart. I had to bring them home and tighten EVERYTHING.

We were charged for 3 fender rack bags but only received 2 (I still need to go back for a refund on the 3rd.) . When they refunded the amount for the first (wrong) bikes, they short-changed us $30 on the refund.

I have had nothing but bad experiences with these clowns. Go to a real bike store and steer clear of this hot mess.

Buy Beware, their guarantees are loaded with exclusions as well as their money back discounts!

"Moneys tight trying to save a few $$$ because they had a $20 back for purchase over $99 father's day gift, I thought I would take advantage of it. I was ordering the identical part from another seller but with the discount I'd save $5. When the purchase went thru I notice I didn't get the discount. So I immediately sent an email to let them know. I get an email back a few days later stating there were all these exclusions which were not listed along side of the discount. I get the item a day after the other order from across the globe, and getting ready to send back the item and read the satisfaction guarantee exclusions and was taken back. Their guarantees are basically a bate and switch. I had been an on and off customer of theirs since the 70's, no more. I have sent many, many people to their local store and only line, no more. I called to speak to a customer service representative and he was no help a matter of fact he told me not to use the enclosed return address label and wanted to give me another one. I asked if this address isn't correct why would they included in the box? His answer, "I don't know!". I bet the address he was giving me is bogus..."
