"Want crappy customer service from incompetent and dishonest managers?? This is the place for you!!!

There are some great people who work here, who know their stuff and will go out of their way to provide superior service. However, it seems some of the managers are crooks, and their corporate CS line is staffed by ignorants. Their rules are constantly changing and their "computer system" is often broken.

These consistent one-star reviews don't lie: http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Performance_Bicycle_Performance_Inc

Stay away from this place. Go to REI or a local bike shop. I shared a recent experience where they stole most of my team performance points from my account, and my local group had this to say: "told you so!"

"Ordered some new tires offline from them at a great price and was super excited. Couple days later got an email that they cancelled my order. I emailed them to figure out why and they told me that it was due to an online glitch and they couldn't honor the cheaper price. Their mistake yet no good customer service or help. "

"Performance Bike is a ripoff and they try their best to hide. I ordered an email gift card for a friend and she never received it, but they got my 100 bucks. I asked my friend about this and she said no she never got it. I called performance and they said they had problems with their system and would reissue it to me. I forwarded to my friend and when she tried to use it they showed a zero balance. Performance is now trying to figure out how to fix it and they really don't care because they have my money. WARNING be aware of their deceptive business practices and lack of customer support. I am done with them for sure."

"Do not rely on performance bike for race day.
Place and order with overnight delivery. The package did not arrive, infact despite me holding an invoice and credit card charge they never recieved or shipped my order. When it comes to crunch time go somewhere else.

"I placed a $500 order today and found out that my order was canceled. I called up their customer service and was told that they no longer want to do business with me because I returned some defective wheels and other parts not long ago. Their 100% satisfaction guaranteed promise is a lying promise. The moment they feel that they might be losing some money by making a customer happy they'll end their association with you. Don't be insulted. Just do business with a better on-line bicycle retailer that really guarantees the products they sell, such as Competitive Cyclist. That's what I'm doing."

"I don't usually write negative reviews, but I've had a horrible experience dealing with Performance Bike. On March 9, 2014 I went to store #134 in Fort Lauderdale very exited to buy a bike. The sales person was really nice and I choose a Fuji Gran Fondo 3.0. The bicycle wasn't on the store and they mention that they can order and could take a week then when I paid they said could take up to 10 days and they would make the order and I should received an email let it me know when they will ship my bike. I call the store on March 15th because I never received any emails and they said that I have to wait for the email. Then I call on the 16th and I was told that the order never was made and I said I want to cancel. The manager call me and told me to not be worried and that my bike would at the store ready to pick up on Wednesday, March 19. I never received any emails inform me the day that my bike was shipped I was calling the store on Tuesday to see the status and they don't have any answer then on Wednesday I have to call back. I spoke to one of the employee that answer the phone and He said that if we don't received the email saying that by bike was shipped that wasn't on the store. He even told me that that they received over 200 bikes on that day and they were on boxes and as soon they get to my bike they will call me and send me and email. I explain to him that I spoke to the manager and He told be that by Wednesday should be at the store and He ask me Oh what was the name of the manager like if he doesn't believe what I was telling him. Then mysteriously the manager call me and leave me a message that the bike that my bike where at the store and will be ready in 30 mnts. My wife went to pick up the bike and when they was putting my bike in my car my wife notice that the paint was very chipped and when she saw that she ask the employee helping her (Justin) if that why was like that he said that was normal and he can show me others bike to see it. Attach is the picture. She decide to bring back the bike immediately and saw another bike on the store and wasn't like that at all. He said don't worried we should came with a solution tomorrow and she left the bike at the store. I really doesn't trust this store anymore and I feel very disappointed I want my money back. Its being a very negative experience buying a bike for Performance Bicycle.

"Ordered a bike ($500) from their website because prices were good. Paid a significant extra ($60) for same day shipping and next day pickup at one of their stores, as I really needed it quickly for commuting.
The order confirmation email says a different expected delivery date. I contact them, and they say everything is good, it's just a default date on the email.
Next day, no updates on the order status.
I send another email, and get back a reply saying that my billing information couldn't be verified.
I call them and get the billing info verified. They say they couldn't call me because my phone number was "invalid"?! What does that mean?
End of day comes and no update on the order status.
Email again.
They say they have problems confirming my order and now the order will ship the next day. (2 days delayed and counting)
Next day comes and no updates on the order.
More emails, they say the order had to be manually processed (no explanation why). Now the weekend comes and it will only ship on monday (5 days delayed, and counting).
Eventually it did ship very late on Monday, but was not ready for pickup until wednesday at the store. In total a next day delivery took one week to arrive. No apologies, and no offer to at least redeem the extra charges made for next day delivery.
Their website never updated the order status.
Getting through this required multiple calls and emails to their customer service. They NEVER contacted me, so I might have waited forever for it if I had not bugged them multiple times per day.
Won't buy online from them again.

"After searching the net for a new wheelset, google shopping showed performance bike had a closeout sale for the make and model I was interested in. I put the items in the shopping cart to place the order. Since I am NOT a previous customer, I had to register with their site. The confirmation email arrived the next morning. I grabbed my credit card to pay for the item only to realize they added $300.00 to the price!

I called customer service and explained what happened and offered to send a screenshot of the price quoted. I was told pricing changes all the time, there's nothing that can be done.

After reading reviews of performance bike, it Looks like I dodged a bullet.

I'll spend the $1500.00 bucks at a business that doesn't pull a bait and switch.

Sincerely,

Dave

"Don't be FOOLED by their 10% points back. ANY item you buy in the future will NOT receive points when redeeming points. So basically the 10 cents you earn from every dollar is taken from you on future purchases.

To make matters worse, when they have a 20% or 30% sale, you ARE NOT ELIGIBLE when using team points for the order. So you redeem 10%, but loose the opportunity to receive 30% back.

WHAT A SCAM!

"So I have been looking to get a bike from these guys. They currently have a memorial day sale which is up to 50% off an alloy bike as the ad shows..

ad: http://content.screencast.com/users/MyllerD/folders/Jing/media/bbb723ab-1dad-4ab9-ad52-4570cb816e48/00000278.png

... Then i got super excited, sweet the scattante is currently at $999 so I can get it way cheaper... (by the way, this $999 has been there for months)

price: http://content.screencast.com/users/MyllerD/folders/Jing/media/57be9f8d-e5e3-48e1-8259-35468455cd7b/00000279.png

... i added the bike to the cart and went to pay for it and well... it was still $999. Which to me seems false ad because the price has been there for months but they said the sale started today!

Checkout: http://content.screencast.com/users/MyllerD/folders/Jing/media/b31a379b-9651-41d8-9454-b003fb7ee8fa/00000280.png

FALSE AD straight up! don't trust their ads unless you do good research!

"I purchased a Dahon Boardwalk online from Performance Bicycle, and at the same time purchased a "team membership" which is supposed to apply 10% of each purchase to future purchases. Each time I have tried to redeem points something was screwed up with my account - this last time, I no longer existed (apparently another account expired, and they issued me the same account number - then expired my account). I think the team membership is only a scam."

"1. Bought expensive Fuji bike on Friday from Robert & Erica at the Buford GA Performance Bicycle. Had a great time in store, great deal very happy.
2. Took bike out first time on Sunday and had a rear flat after 5 miles of pavement.
3. A few minutes later walked into store with bike and was greeted by Erica and Store Manager.
4. Store Manager told me anything could happen to a tire and I would be charged to fix it. He told me that several times. He also said I wouldn't cost me too much. I asked him if he was sure he didn't want to take care of his customer. His reply remained no anything can happen to a tire. He never looked at the tire or offered to. Erica stood nearby with a horrified look on her face. I told Store Manager I would like to return the bike. His reply was ok you will need to remove your own accessories.
5.Store Manager called me on my phone when I left to retrieve my receipt and said hey look I'm going to help you out "this time" and take a look at the tire but again he told me anything can happen to a tire.
5. I returned a few minutes later with my tools and receipt. Erica apologized profusely for Jason and told me he was really sorry he didn't take care of us and offered what can I do to make you happy so you can keep your bike. I told her I didn't want to continue my business with someone who thought customer service was doing me a favor "this time"
6. My wife and Erica eventually talked me into chalking it up to Store Manager having a bad day and I decided to keep the bike. The service tech had found a defect in the tube and replaced it. About that time Store Manager walked up and told me he noticed my tires were dirty and that if I had ridden the bike off the road I had damaged the tire. I told him the service tech found a defective tube. Store Manager walked away again and I continued to remove my accessories from the bike as I had now changed my mind again, this time with my wife's approval.
7. Erica cheerfully and apologetically refunded all of my money and offered to see if Store Manager would give me a service contract or something to change my mind. I thought about it for a minute and gave her a hug and offered to put in a good word for her if she wanted to seek employment somewhere else. Erica pointed to the 100% Satisfaction No Hassle No Kidding sign in the store and said I wish I could have done that for you I'm very sorry. Store Manater returned to the front of the store and started with I told you I would take care of it this time and my wife asked him to please stop talking.

I intend to take my business over to REI where I should have been, where I know the employees know what customer service and satisfaction mean. It was fun having a red bike for 2 days though!

"I have been a customer of Performance for many years, but certainly no longer. The shop on Sawmill in Columbus, OH has the WORST people working there. I had taken my bike in for repairs, which took much longer than they quoted me. When I finally went in to pick it up, I had the misfortune of dealing with JD. He had misplaced my paperwork AND bike, and it took over half an hour for them to find it in their little back room! Not only did this mechanic seem unbothered by his total lack of customer service, he repeatedly used language unfit for my young children that were standing by my side to hear. I finally had enough and asked him to refrain from speaking like that in front of my kids. His reply? "That's your issue." I have never been treated so poorly as a customer! They used to have great, helpful, professional mechanics but they've all left. Looks like my business will follow."

"I found "2011 GT Avalanche 2.0 Disc Mountain Bike" on sale at performancebike.com. When arrived to shop I found that such bike present in stock for my size (medium), so I ordered it. Next day when picking up bike from store I found they gave me "2011 GT Avalanche 2.0 Mechanical Disc Mountain Bike" instead, which is cheaper, but same sale price. When I mentioned this discrepancy to salesperson he said that "2011 GT Avalanche 2.0 Disc Mountain Bike" was mislabeled and in fact this is 2012 model and not on sale. I tried to convince them that this problem is not mine and I want to buy advertised bike. But no success. Please be aware of this shop."

"I don't usually write negative reviews, but I've had a horrible experience dealing with Performance Bike and I think others should know about it. My wife and I placed two orders last week, one for a bike and another for pedals and shoes. For the bike order, we had to pick a store (we couldn't ship it to our house), so we chose the nearest store during the checkout process. No big deal. The next day, we got a call saying we needed to pick a store. I forwarded our order confirmation (which had the store listed) to your customer service department, who then forwarded it to the Credit Desk and sent me a slightly nasty response email. That was last Wednesday.

Since I hadn't heard anything, I sent a follow-up email yesterday (Monday) checking on the order. I get a reply saying they needed the billing address the credit card has on file to process the order.

First, that information was on the original order confirmation! Secondly, why didn't anyone call us requesting the information??

I replied back with the information, and once again my "information has been forwarded to the Credit Desk."

I called again today since I hadn't heard anything, and one of the orders had finally processed -- there was a problem with the billing authorization. Okay, I understand that happens, but Performance Bike didn't communicate with us that there was a problem or that they needed more information!

They were going to try to process the other order and we would receive an email letting us know when it has (finally) processed. I'm not expecting to receive that email.

Like others have said before, make sure you don't need your order anytime soon if you order from this company, and don't expect much from their customer service department. My advice is to call every day just to check on your order, since you won't get any feedback otherwise.
