Bad customer Service

"Recently bought parts for a custom computer. The case arrived damaged so had to ship it back. Upon receiving the return they agreed it was damaged but want to repair and resend the same case. I paid for a new case not some repaired crud, repaired goods are not the same as a new product and I should be able to get what i paid for in the first place which was a brand new case for my system. Have spent a lot of money here building computers for myself and friends but they don't care about customer loyalty. Horrible company and I will not be buying from them again. for"

PC Case Gear = Pretty Crappy online store

"Ordered about 1,300 worth of product from PC case gear that was listed as "in-stock". Its been 6 days and my order is still "in processing" They only offer phone service from 1-5 pm and all my attempts to call them have found the line busy so I cannot cancel the order. I've tried to cancel the order by logging into my account only to find that i'm not allowed to do that and must call them.

Additionally, they charged me a 2% service fee for paying via PayPal, something I've never seen before nor do I feel happy about since that charge was not clearly outlined prior to paying the order.

I'm embroiled in an unhappy 1st time experience with PC Case Gear and will never use them again.

Unfair & Inefficient Customer Service

"Please note regarding my review, technically PCCG have not broken any rules, however their service is in my opinion unreasonable, inefficient, draining to experience. ironically theres a good chance theyll probably respond to this review quicker than they can respond and process my pending returns :P

If ur ordering from pccasegear and everything goes well, then they are great, prices are cheap and they have most current models instock for most hardware, but if theres an issue they r horrible to deal with.

I places an initial order with them for about $1200 of stuff and i received it fine. However before i received it realised that i had the parts i had ordered wire incorrect for my needs (i was building this PC for Vive VR).

So before it arrived (had already been shipped) i asked to return everything (AS NEW WITH EVERYTHING SEALED AS WAS) however the told me that its a change of mind so therefore according to their policies i would have to pay a 15% "RESTOCKING FEE". I Argued that thats abit ridiculous considering that im returning the products as new WITHOUT ANY OF THE SEAL BROKEN FOR THE PACKAGING and also that 15% of $1200 is about $180 which is quite ridiculous to restock new sealed returns, but they wouldnt budge! I even offered to take in store credit but they said nope gota pay the fee full stop. AND this is after i paid and placed and order for 2K worth of replacement parts from them while trying to get the other parts order returned, STILL wouldnt have any concession on the fee or agree to anything for customer loyalty.

I even offered in one of my emails to them suggesting i pay fro my own flight, fly down from brisbane all the way to melborune myself! put it on the relevant warehouse shelf and enter the relevant return data onto their computers! I have no idea what these guys charge $180 to restock for! i can get a return ticket flying a decent airline qantas midweek for $169! and i also wouldnt have to pay for shipping the products back i can carry it in my baggage!

Anyway so... i then payed $60 myself to get it shipped express overnight thru aus post so i can get my money back asap, i posted it on tuesday afternoon, the tracking shows they signed & received the items in the morning the very next day (wednesday). Then it took them a WHOLE DAY till late in the afternoon to mark it as received. the next day (thursday) went past and i still never got my refund! no idea what the hell these guys are doing considering how much the charge to "Process stuff". ridiculous.

In future if stock is available im going to Umart or MSY, Umarts been very good, and they dont just slap on unreasonable fees and follow everything in a linear formal process. I didnt pay a cent when i bought an incorrect psu model from them, INFACT the box was open and still took it back without a stupid return fee.

I made the mistake of not reading the reviews on pccg theres heaps of similar reviews of ppl complaining on slow processing times and return fees or warranty issues. Everyones happy if their order is fine, but looks like these guys have crappy customer service and inefficient outdated rules & processes that affect ppl when things go wrong.

So in short from how i tried to negotiate with these guys, its clear to me they only care bout the $$$ for all i know they must make a decent mount of cash on the side with "change of mind" returns"!

Unless u cant find the part u looking for somewhere else instock then avoid these guys and take a shot at Umart, the difference at Umart is, that they have been quicker from my experience and they are more reasonable and take every customers issues individually and on circumstance rather than these robots...

"Poor service. I'm generally reluctant to purchase online but took a gamble with PC Case Gear because their price was good. I purchased a computer for over three thousand dollars which arrived faulty. After almost one week of consistent problems I learned that the installed memory was faulty. After contacting customer service they asked me to remove all of the memory and send it to them for replacement. I removed the memory and dispatched overnight freight at my cost (no problem) and waited almost a week before contacting them regarding replacement memory, they told me I had to wait longer as it is a warranty claim. After threatening them with returning the whole unit for refund they decided to dispatch the memory via road freight with an eta of almost ten days to Darwin. I have not yet received the memory and my brand new $3,000 computer is still sitting for almost one month still unused. Pricing is good, but customer service drag their feet, they are not concerned about goodwill or keeping customers happy. Bad experience, I will never buy from them again."

"The GTX 970 was sold to me based on the misleading representation that the GTX 970 as having 4GB of vram running at 224GB/S, it was later revealed that the first 3.5GB operates at 192GB/s (7/8th) while the remaining 0.5GB operates at 1/8th that speed.

Despite Nvidia having a class action lawsuit filed against them and multiple manufacturers and retailers refunding customer's because of this issue, PC Case Gear denied that there was any form of False Advertisement and denied any refund or exchange.

Told me I should have been aware of this issue, despite it only coming to light a month after I purchased the card.

Rude and Deceitful.

"I've brought hardware a few times from pccasegear and have always been satisfied. Including shipping costs it's often cheaper than buying locally and of better quality.
The only place I'll buy any pc related hardware from.

"Pccasegear is the best Australian computer part site out there. I have ordered from them for 1 and a half years now and I can confidently say pccasegear is one of my favourite businesses I regularly order from. The shipping is fast, prices are decent and the customer service is great.

No matter how hard you try, pccasegear doesn't control defects or refund stupid fees you got for installing a video card if its defective.

"Been a regular customer with pccasegear for nearly a year now and I have spent several thousands of dollars at least. I can honestly say that I have not had a single problem. What I like most about them is that they have always kept me informed, through regular emails, with every order I ever made. Products I have always arrived in perfect condition, so I cant speak for their warranty service, but so far I can highly recommend them. "

"I've been using PC Case Gear for years, and they've never let me down. Just earlier this month, I bought a EVGA GTX780 and some Corsair DDR3, paid via credit card and had the order at my doorstep in less than 48 hours. That's quick! I've also had to return items (faulty HDD) and found the warranty process quick and painless. Great to deal with."

"I have been a customer with pc case gear for many years and have spent thousands. I had received a motherboard with damaged pins as the cap was missing off the socket, it came like this out of the box I had not even touched it. I sent 3 warranty request and had no reply, emailed them and still nothing, so I rang them on the phone. I explained what had happened and he told me that they had not received any request. When I told him what was wrong with the board he simply said funny because the boards are checked before they get sent out... They then wanted me to pay for the return postage and postage back. Great prices with fast postage but terrible service."

"PC Case Gear provides a specific service for competent users – a wide range of stock available at the press of a button. The average user may find daunting the array of choices, and for you I suggest 1) having an experienced friend finalise your purchase 2) sticking with a laptop or 3) purchasing a premade elsewhere.

PC Case Gear offers a massive range of competitively priced items and a range of items within specific models to choose from.

The website is fast and easy to navigate, with stock availability clearly visible. The shopping cart is simple and you can create wishlists once signed up, which can be accessed later to make comparison systems.

Email responses are quick and friendly and straight to the point.
Purchasing is a breeze regardless of payment type, although expect to pay 2% on credit card purchases.

Delivery is fast and cheap (the price ratio drops the more you buy). Every item that I have purchased has come packaged as if they expect the delivery guy to try his hardest to break the contents within. I cannot stress how impressed I am with the speed and care PC Case Gear achieves with delivery.

Returns policy in my experience has been excellent. Although not required to, PC Case Gear was kind enough to allow me to exchange a CPU for only the cost of shipping. Also, I have returned an item found to be faulty and it was replaced free of charge.

Overall PC Case Gear is a brilliant online computer store - with a focus on users who really know their stuff. I have used many different online stores; some which are no longer operational and I have used PC Case Gear’s service for years now and will continue to do so.

"I spent several thousand dollars with this company and might I say it’s been quite the bumpy trip, or maybe with added turbulence. At first I thought wow great company ships fast with decent costs. But after receiving problems with some of the products their true colours "shined".

1a) I bought ram from them on a few occasions and 1 set was getting RAM related BSODs I query for help and all they ask is for you to return the item (I did supply a picture of a given error) at my cost.

1b) what they did. Test (for 2+ bloody weeks). In the end they found no errors and did not help me to trouble shoot at all. Coughed up $25. They kept the product and probably sold it off again to make more $. Furthermore there was no investigation after finding out the product was fine despite picture proof I’m having issues with the said PC I was building from their products

1c) Conclusion? What I had to do was after spending more time testing with new Ram (that I had to buy myself from them) and consulting a PC store (coughed up $30) was that that the motherboard was actually at fault despite only receiving RAM related BSODs. So off went the motherboard (explained later). Finally, pathetic support staff with no IT abilities to help troubleshoot. “Inept”

2a) I enquire about routers having Reverse DNS or also known as IP masquerading

2b) what they did given that they start at 8AM EAST I received an email saying this 25 mins after they would’ve read the email. "Thank you for your enquiry. Sadly I am unsure of this as the routers do not seem to list this as a specification, and from some Googling it looks like something you need to be able to test so I’m not going to be able to find this out." What’s this? You don't know much about your products and its specs and only googled for a little? Yup they want you to do all the work as they are too lazy and don’t want your money. So after going through many expensive modems I found one at a different site that had a fritz modem with the desired capabilities and whatya know PCCG had it to. Whoops too late bought it first before checking.

2c) Conclusion? What I think they usually do is C&P details and specs of a product as an image, the occasional review and in most cases not much information at all in products deemed unworthy for one. "Lazy".

3a) now this brings me to the motherboard. Instead of being kind and acknowledging their inability to help troubleshoot with the ram issue I had to pay for shipping to get it sent to PCCG and wait over a month for a reply which I had to instigate. They don’t realise that it’s a parallel case to the RAM issues.
3b) what did they say? Oh yeh motherboard problem blah blah will send soon and check up. What’s that? They can’t keep track of their product progress of being repaired. They also mentioned I could not get a refund as it is apparently up to the supplier to decide what happens. What’s that? No control over the products you sell? What’s that no apologies for the inconvenience caused for waiting 2 months? What’s that no refunding of the RAM costs as it was the motherboard that was failing?

3c) Conclusion? I had to buy a new motherboard from a local PC store after 5+ months of issues, BSOD, haggling with support and waiting. Not only that they could’ve of kept the perfectly new boxed motherboard and resell it just like how they probably did with the RAM I sent back but what can I say when they say they can only listen to their dist/suppl despite being responsible for selling. The person I built the PC for now thinks I’m a complete waste of time and I made a nice amount of negative income. “Money making Excuses”

Other Examples) I had a NAS system sent in for booting issues after being told by the maker to send it back to the retailer. After 1 month they came back to me and basically said no problems it boots fine and without my permission sent it to the Distributor for further testing. Wait it gets better. Any person shopping at PCCG would know a $25 fee may incur for a false-negative and I was asked to pay $50, magical really. If you think that the “may” bit in T&Cs means may then you are dead wrong mate, it basically means always even if it’s a false negative or if they keep the product or not, well based on my experience really. Got it back and wow it suddenly works, again magical. "Un-explanatory"

Other notes) Depending who emails you the way it is typed is usually rude and even uncaring at times. "At times rude and uncaring - You are just another customer swarming to their tasteless honey"

Final thoughts) PCCG usual low prices and range of products is quite attractive and comparable to other giants that sell wide variety of goods. With a monopoly of customers which allows them to competitively bring prices down it can be difficult to say “I shouldn’t buy from them”. So if you like to gamble that your product will outlast warranty and have high tolerance and don’t mind being treated and feeling like an idiot when things go wrong then go ahead buy from them. But really just go to a local store and bargain the prices based on a modest competitor. They might not meet the same price point as PCCG but they may come close to it as I’ve experienced after I stopped shopping with PCCG. In the end you can factor things such as troubleshooting within labour warranty (3 yrs for many stores), No delivery fees compared to when you live outside PCCG local area and a more personalised kinder experience in most successful local PC stores.

I have more to say but I’ll wrap it up here as I doubt many would read a wall of text. Hope you found this review helpful.

For putting up with the time it took to type this I’d like to thank my Sister for writing this for me as I am chronically ill mentally and physically and cannot speak or write well for now.
