The company Optical4Less is probably not a scam exactly, but more likely just a very poorly run company in Hong Kong with little regard conducting international business.
They seem to have difficulty with the most basic common business practices such as email communication in a timely manner. The website makes no mention that you'll encounter additional fees. There's also an "international fee" probably added by your credit card company that would be nice to get some advance notice of while ordering. And when I had to pay an additional fee for the lenses, it required using some foreign pay pal "like" service that makes you wince as you press the "pay" button. Not a lot of confidence.
Then there's the eye glasses quality. Either average to below average quality and if there's a problem (as with my order), it can literally takes weeks to months to get it rectified, if you do at all. The frames are flimsy at best but even with that, one might figure they didn't pay much so no big deal. It's that in the modern world, you expect more than "dead air" on the other end. It's pretty infuriating to deal with their customer service.
Truly not worth the headache and effort to supposedly "save" money. Even a minor hiccup could cost you money and many weeks and possibly a month or more of wasted time.""
"I have a very high prescription (-15,25/-16.50) and have been getting rimless glasses from Optical 4 Less since 2011. I am always satisfied with my purchases. My glasses have always been of high quality (confirmed by my Ophthalmologist), and the cost is much lower than at my local stores. I've only used their regular shipping speed, and it is relatively fast. The cleaning cloths, repair kits and glasses cases are a wonderful bonus, as well. Highly recommended."

"RUBBISH service and THIEVES. First, their site doesn't work any correctly, instead of the glasses that I needed I now have in the order the type that doesn't suit me at all. For the type that I needed they asked (5 days after the order) extra 200 euro!!! Notwithstanding that on the site there wasn't anything near such price!!! But THE WORST is now they DO NOT RETURN the money!!! After my asking to cancell all they enigmatically KEEP SILENCE, without any word or action! They don't even respond me. I needed to claim it now through paypal!!! OUTRAGEOUS. And RUDE personal. If this is their fault that they cannot fix their site or make the order normally - why does one have to claim his money through paypal, waiting for a month? The "refund service" is not "poor" like marked here, it is absent. Never again."

"I ordered frames that were supposed to have an 18mm bridge; they had a bridge that was less than 17mm. Small difference means I can not wear the glasses comfortably. Customer service continued to insist that the frames did have an 18mm bridge. The last straw was a photo they sent to me that clearly showed a 17-mm bridge with a message that seem to imply that it was my inability to measure."

"Just wanted to share an experience with optical4less.com that I had recently. I bought a pair of glasses from them several years ago, and they seemed to be of pretty good quality. After about 5 years, there is some cloudiness/spidering of the coating on the lens, but I would consider that normal wear for any glasses. Since I liked the first set of glasses I decided to purchase another set from them. These are the frames I chose:

Unfortunately, when they arrived, the arm didn't quite connect properly to the edge of the frame. Here's what they looked like:

I promptly emailed customer service, and they told me I could send them back for a replacement or buy a new pair at a 15% discount. I thought that was a fair policy. I opted to buy a new pair (partially because the cost of shipping the glasses back to Hong Kong would probably have been almost as much), and included a note on the ticket as well as in the "notes" section of my order with a link to the image above and a request to check that the arm connected properly to the frame.
A couple weeks later, my replacement pair arrived. Here is what the arm looked like on the replacement pair:

Needless to say, I was disappointed. I'm not sure if it's this specific frame that has quality issues or if their quality in general has gone down over the years. In terms of cost, I believe they are one of the more expensive online retailers out there now; my first pair was over $100 with the upgrades (one notch up on the index of the lenses and a clip on), but the second was around $40.
I'm going to send them a photo of the replacement pair and ask if there's anything they can do for me. If they suggest buying another pair, I think I'll cut my losses and try clearlycontacts, goggles4u or another retailer."
"I purchased one pair of glasses w/ high index lenses and had a horrible horrible experience. The frames were so stretched out they wouldn't stay on my face and the lenses were the thickest and heaviest I have EVER seen. My current glasses do not have high index lenses are are probably half the thickness. The customer service was horrible as well. They refused to honor their guarantee and I ended up having to stop payment on my credit card and send the glasses back. Save yourself the time and energy and buy glasses in the US. "
