"OnRebate is the biggest scam as far as rebate goes. Just read the reviews! The State of Florida should shut them down and the FTC should prosecute them. They are blatan. When you file for your rebate, they tell you if you are willing to fork over the equivalent of 30% of your rebate value, you would get your rebate quickly. Otherwise you wait. Little did I know wait you must do!!! I submitted my rebate in May and just got my rebate a couple of weeks ago. After reading the other reviews, I counted myself the "lucky" one.

To be fair, the first rebate from Tiger Direct arrived quickly. The other two (altogether 3 rebates for a HD valued at $120, very attractive indeed!) took months. I e-mail them, called them and checked status on their website, all in vain. They never answered the phone in person. eMails were canned. I used to like Tiger Direct a lot, but what a bummer for them to hook up with this OnRebate! They loose my biz now if rebate is required.

"I have actually had great luck with the tigerdirect/onrebate combo...until my last purchase. Rebate offer number TD-2951 AMD FX55 cpu $100.00 rebate. The item was purchased in 7/06 and started the rebate process soon after. Upon my order arriving, the UPC code was removed and sent along with the other required info and by 8/16, my rebate was accepted (meaning it was recieved, verified and accepted by onrebate). It was from here that the problem began.

After waiting the standard 4-8 weeks for the check to be processed, no update was made at onrebate tracking and no check was recieved. I started sending emails (once every two weeks) all with no response. I called onrebate cust service only to get the "your problem has been forwarded to our accounting dept and you check should be sent in about 2 weeks" reply. That was almost 2 months ago. I then emailed tigerdirect who (after a couple days) responded with "you problem has been forwarded to the correct dept". At this point I had all but given up so I pulled out the big guns. I informed onrebate that I filed a complaint with http://myfloridalegal.com (attn generals office) and http://www.bbbsoutheastflorida.org and you will never guess what happened. In under a week, my rebate status was updated showing my check had been sent and within a couple days the check had arrived.

Bottom line, if youre at the end of your rope with these clowns, dont be afraid to flex your legal muscles.

"More REBATE FRAUD from Tiger Direct and OnRebate.com

Sorry, didn't know they only keep one complaint here. I made two purchases from TigerDirect.com and have OnRebate.com approved, outstanding and unpaid rebates to the tune of $280 due me. Below is the complaint filed about one of these problems, invoice I5161974. I must have overwritten the complaint on I5276100 when I entered the second complaint without realizing it.

In June I purchased a barebones kit that supposedly came with $180 of mail in rebates. In good faith I completed the rebates (only took two hours, seven envelopes and seven stamps and more mindless stupidity than most can imagine with OnRebate.com) and OnRebate.com processed and agreed to pay the rebates.

It is now late November and I have not seen a penny of the $180 in rebates I am owed (on this invoice, on a second they owe me $100). There are 7 outstanding rebates varying from $10 to $40 and I have never seen a single rebate check (ten rebates counting both orders). All of these are fully approved OnRebate.com "the check is in the mail" rebates. The bulk of the rebates appear to originate from TigerDirect and are NOT OEM rebates.

According to data on the web, TigerDirect and OnRebate.com share a sinisterly similar board of directors and are owned by the same parent.

Also annoying, the "validated e-mail address" OnRebate.com collects on each and every rebate collector is being marketed by them. They are making money by collecting e-mail addresses on rebates handed out by TigerDirect. How big a scam are people going to tolerate?

This is clearly rebate fraud and someone needs to go to jail for it.

The only solution is to shop elsewhere for your needs. TigerDirect is not a merchant to be trusted. Who or what OnRebate.com is and why they seem to be in bed with TigerDirect and have a vested interest in denying as many TigerDirect rebates as possible is worthy of FTC investigation.

If you have similar experiences, consider contacting the FTC as I did. I also contacted the Florida Attorney General and got the unhelpful response "they are monitoring the situation". Punch in to Google "tigerdirect rebate fraud" and sit back in awe at the amount of data on rebate problems out there. This merchant should not remain in business.

Try the same test with "onrebate rebate fraud", same results. Hundreds if not thousands of defrauded customers.

I repeat, someone needs to go to jail as this is clearly fraud on a major scale.

"I also fell for a rebate from Onrebate on a tiger direct order. The steps are painful but I would not mind if the rebates were paid. To date they said the rebate was confirmed but no payment and no answer to emails. AVOID Onrebate at all costs. You will be sorry otherwise."

"Scam artists!!!!
I bought an item from Micro Center because of the $30 rebate from OnRebate. I waited the 10 weeks from the time they sent me the email stating that the rebate has been accepted. Then I call and they say they will forward it to accounting and I should see it in 10 business days. Two weeks later, still no money in my Paypal account so I call again. They still don't know why the money hasn't been sent and tell me that the bulk Paypal arders have already gone out so it will be another week at the earliest. I ask for a manager and then they tell me that she is out for lunch. They take my phone number so she can call me back. It shouldn't surprise anyone that they didn't call back. LIARS!!!

"Very Disatisfied! I also fell for the $50 mir offered on the 19in LCD. That was in July. Let's see...it's almost December as of this writing. Still don't have that check...

11/30/2006: After extensive e-mail correspondence with both OnRebate and TigerDirect, the check finally arrived in today's mail. If it clears, I'll state such in another update. If it doesn't, someone please tell me what my options are...

"This company is running a scam with TigerDirect.com, their parent. They are taking everyone -- including the federal government -- for a ride. On July 2, 2006, I purchased a Hanns-G HN199D 19" computer monitor from
TigerDirect.com, invoice number I5326397. There was a $50 rebate offered on
the product, which required the buyer to register the rebate through
Onrebate.com. I did that on 20 July, and Onrebate.com accepted my printed
rebate form, with proofs of purchase, on 8 August. The company's disclaimer
informed me that it would take 8-10 weeks for payment to be delivered to me.
It has been over 3 months since their acceptance of my rebate documentation
and no payment has been forthcoming. I made 3 different calls to their
offices recently -- on 31 October, 2 November, and 14 November. On each
occasion, I was told payment would be expedited, but I have received neither
the $50 nor confirmation of check issuance. I have contacted the Florida
Attorney General (since the company operates in that state) and the FTC, asking for their
assistance. I have also recently submitted another rebate claim for a purchase of a 19" Westinghouse TV, and they have rejected the claim, even though everyhting was submitted exactly as they requested. It was a real feat getting the bar code of the product, because their parent company, Tiger Direct, covers the bar code with the shipping label to prevent use of the bar code for rebates.

"It is the worst rebate system I've ever had. Too many steps. They don't offer the rebate form directly, but you have to spend like 15-20 mins go over their website to get it. Many tricks. I don't like it at all."

"I purchased a 19" LCD monitor from Tigerdirect and had to send in 4 different rebates via onrate.com for total of $160. I got all the rebate checks back within a month. Customer service was very helpful when I sent in the wrong UPC code. I'm very surprised to see so many people didn't get their money back. "

"I have 3 unpaid rebates, all submitted to Onrebate more than 5 months ago. According to the rebate forms, they are supposed to be paid in 8-10 weeks - what a joke. All the rebates were accepted, but they don't pay. I've been trying to get the rebates sent to my Paypal account for over 3 months now. Onrebate offers a choice of Paypal credit or check, but why bother when they don't pay?

The items were purchased at Tigerdirect, so I've contacted them, along with Onrebate and the manufacturer dozens of times by email, phone, letter, and even by stopping at the Tigerdirect store, but no one will take responsibility and pay. I have copies and documentation that prove I submitted all requested information within the alotted time frame, but it doesn't matter to them. Tigerdirect and Onrebate keep saying they will check into it, but nothing happens. They also keep stalling by asking for more info, and asking me to resubmit. I've complied with every request, but they still don't pay. Onrebate asked me to verify my address. I don't know why, it's on the rebate form and hasn't changed in over 14 years, but I complied anyways. It didn't make a difference. Onrebate told me months ago that they would forward my info to their accounting department for investigation and expedited payment, but nothing happened. They have used this tactic with others as well - search online and you will see. LIES, LIES, LIES. And that's if you can get them to respond - most of my emails were simply ignored.

I've been told several times that the rebates will be paid in 1 to 2 weeks, but they've been saying this for 3 months now. MORE LIES. I went to the Tigerdirect store on 09/13/06, and they contacted Onrebate and were told the rebates would be paid within 10 days. 5 weeks later, and I'm still waiting. THE LYING NEVER CEASES. I contacted Tigerdirect again on 10/13/06 and 10/21/06, and guess what they told me? The rebates will be paid in 1 to 2 weeks. It's insulting. Do they really thing I'm stupid enough to believe this yet again? Onrebate and Tigerdirect customer service is absolutely horrendous.

This is consumer fraud at its worst. It's unfortunate that it's come to this, but I will be filing complaints with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), Florida Attorney General, Better Business Bureau (BBB) and any other agency or office that can penalize Tigerdirect and Onrebate.

There are many reputable online merchants, and neither Tigerdirect nor Onrebate are among them. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere, and forget about Onrebate.

"Onrebate.com is a fraudulent rebate company. They do not pay rebates. I mailed in a complete application and they claim that I did not include the invoice. Well I know for a fact that I did. I scanned in the invoice with attached UPC before I mailed it out, and I have the image file on my computer. These people are liars and thieves. I have complained to the FTC and hopefully something will be done about them."

"I ordered a Power supply from RadioShack.com and there was a $40 rebate through onrebate.com

I sent in the correct paperwork and 2 weeks lter I received a email saying my address didnt match up.
I have sent in for rebates several times before on onrebate agreeing to pay them to expedite my rebate.
This time I did not. I have contacted then several times and received no reply and their phone # goes to a recording that offers no help as well.
In their email they said I needed to remedy this in 30 days but there is no way to contact them.
I will no longer shop at Radioshack or anyone who uses onrebate.com for their rebate service.

"I recently made a purchase at MicroCenter and had to go through these scam artists to get my $25.00 rebate. When I was forced to "register" to get my rebate I was stated that if I paid $2.50 I would receive my rebate via PayPal in 3 to five days of their receiving my documentation.
It also stated that if I did not pay the 2.50 it would take 8-10 weeks to get the Rebate mailed to me. TWO WEEKS later I recieved an email from onRebate stating they had recieved my documentation and that I would receive my rebate in 8-10 weeks via paypal...wtf? I ONLY paid the $2.50 because I was told I would get the rebate faster. I would have never paid anything if this was not the case!!!!
I went to the web site and checked the policy and it had added smallprint and changed the policy to 8-10 weeks on paypal funds. I am waiting the 8-10 weeks anyway and I paid a fee FOR WHAT??..I am certain I read the rebate clearly...THEY LIW TO YOU WHEN YOU REGISTER.

DO NOT PAY THE SURCHARGE...IT IS A RIPOFF..Microcenter is normally an up and up place...but their using this scammy onrebate makes me not want to buy another rebate required purchase from Microcenter...Especially not an onRebate rebate.
