"We have had several scientific posters made by Makesigns - fabric as well as glossy posters - they always come out looking fantastic. The customer service is excellent - I talked with them on the phone before I bought the fabric poster as I was traveling overseas last year and the person I talked with was very knowledgable and nice to talk with. Everyone really liked the fabric poster, makes for a good (extra) talking point at meetings plus it is very easy to transport. For our most recent purchase (last week) the production staff caught a mistake that we made in our powerpoint file - we didn't have our asterisks in the right place - they let us know and made it easy for us to upload our corrected file, and it was produced and fedexed to us straight away! "These guys were great. I was looking for some bumper stickers and banners very quickly. I initial used their online artwork creation tools to create the bumper sticker artwork first. I was not aware of the sign making capability until I spoke with Justin. He helped me with both my orders. The proofs were sent to me within 1 hour. "I'm a Ph. D student at UC Riverside, and I was looking for a company that could print professional scientific posters when I stumbled across Makesigns.com. The first thing I noticed was that even though it was made in Illinois and I was in California, it cost about half the price that it was the print it at FedEx/Kinkos. So that was plus point #1. When I was designing my scientific poster, which included an evolutionary tree depicting pictures of different primate species, I was terribly concerned about whether the photos would come out crisp and clear. Throwing pictures into a powerpoint file is one thing, having it print out well is another. I made a comment about this as an FYI to the company, and the next morning I received a call warning me that the file quality was too low to get crisp pictures. Will, the Director of Client Services, explained to me over the phone how to re-edit my file so the quality would be better. I resent it and soon I received an e-mail explaining that there was still a problem. I made my file on a Mac and I know conversion to PC can sometimes lead to issues with powerpoint. Will grab one of his coworkers' Mac laptops and sure enough it looked great. Plus point #2: the customer service was great. Will worked through it with me until it was perfect. Finally, when I received my poster in the mail, I was rather shocked how good the quality of the photos was (plus point #3). It looked EXACTLY as it did when I designed my powerpoint file. I thought, "Surely the file conversion and printing will lose some quality". Thankfully it did not. Those pictures with my evolutionary tree received several compliments during my recent poster presentation. Plus, the glossy paper turned out to be great. Loved it! I was more pleased with this business transaction then I thought would be possible. The stress of designing a reasonably-priced poster has evaporated. I definitely will recommend this business to my fellow graduate students."
