"Online ordering process allowed me to go all the way through without one hesitation on Thursday, with next day air shipping at $60+ as this is an urgent item. Friday went by, Saturday went by, on Sunday I receive an email from an email address I cannot reply to telling me the item is out of stock, discontinued and that they "may" try to backorder it.
I check online and find that it is still listed on the website with a discounted price, and you can still go through the order process with no issues.
I will never use this company again.

"Their price for the computer I ordered were great. I called and they honored Pricewatch price. Didn't have to wait on hold for a rep, rep was prefrontal and answered all my questions. I promptly received an e-mail for my credit card problem, so I call their toll free and correct the problem. Order process went very smooth. The whole process took about a week(not bad at all). I was able to track my order the whole time through UPS' website. Now, It works great and I haven't had a problem with it at all. "

"My dealings with this company were less than pleasant. To start off with, I tried to order a computer through them online, when I clicked on submit, I went to "Page cannot be displayed." For risk of double charging my card I waited a few days. Built the same system again and when I clicked submit, everything cleared out and the purchase price was $0.00. Called MainComp to verify nothing went through and had to order the computer again. On their website, it says the computer will be shipped within 1-2 business days, which is more like, 1 –2 weeks. Anyway, I got all the parts for my customers system and built it, the motherboard was bad. So I sent them an email with all the testing I did, it then took them 5 days to respond to me, in broken english. The email told me that it would take 1-2 months to replace it and it would just be quicker just to work with the “manfactur.” I sent them back an email telling them that it was completely unacceptable, especially since their website states defective products will be replaced with 10-12 business days. Ten days later I received another email in broken english that made absolutely no sense and didn’t even answer my question. I called several times, being put on hold, long distance at my expense and passed around to multiple before I was able to reach the RMA department. I could barely make out anything they were saying, but I got them to do a dead on arrival shipment in which they would ship my new board out within 2-3 days after receiving my defective motherboard. So I went out and 1-dayed it to them at my expense again. Ten business days later, no email, no call, still no motherboard. I called them and once again got put on hold several times, got hung up on, and got transferred around multiple times before I got someone who told me the RMA department was closed for the day and to call back tomorrow, and once again this was at my expense. I called them the next day and got the RMA department, where I was told they don’t have the board in stock. I had to fight with them tooth and nail to finally get them to just refund my money. They finally credited my card 5 days later for the base price of the motherboard, no tax, or shipping costs included. I went out and purchase another motherboard in town, got my computer partially up and found that the hard drive is bad too, it is recognized by the BIOS as an 8GB drive when the drive was 80GB. I am so completely dissatisfied with this company that I am just sucking up the hard drive so that I don’t have to deal with this unprofessional, poorly managed company. By time all is said and done I ended up spending $16.00 in long distance calls, $250.00 in replacement parts, $35.00 in shipping, countless hours of my time, and I lost a customer because he ended up waiting 2 months for his computer. I only got refunded 48.00 of this money which left me at a negative of $253.00. So if you are looking to shop at this company…be careful. They do have cheap prices, but along with that comes cheap service. If you enjoy making your life a little more stressful, this would be a great place to shop.

"Ordered the system, got contacted on 2nd notice (about 5 days later, I accidentaly deleted the first message) that they ran out of parts (seems to happen to alot of people here...) and asked if I'd like an upgrade for about $20 more, I said yes and the system is shipped about a week later, arrived at my house on 9/25/03. Website could use a little help with the tracking information.

System works fine and everyone's happy.

"I ordered a complete system from these guys becuase they had the best price for what I wanted. I ordered on july 30 2003 and the next day I got an email saying the item I wanted was out of stock but said for a few dollars more they could upgrade to the next system which was in stock, I said do it. I recieved my order on august 6 and everything worked great, I would definetly buy from them again"

"I was slightly wary of buying from maincomp after reading some of the dissatisfied reviews, but most of those seemed to be about how long they took to ship, and time wasn't as big of a factor to me as price. (And their's was by far the lowest.) So I gave em a shot and they came through in every way for me. I got a fully assembled system in my hands in only 10 days (which would have been even shorter, but I made a mistake in my order that had to be clarified), and actually got two seperate notices about my ups tracking number. Any non-form letters I recieved from them (all in a timely manner) WERE a little casual and had misspellings and the like...something like you might find from an ebay type of seller... but 1:That doesn't bother me and 2: I think that's getting a little nitpicky to base your evaluation on that. I would definitely buy from them again without worry."

"Great people, had very little trouble with this company. They didn't give me a tracking number, but other than that they were fantastic(I also called and got the tracking number). I customized a system and ordered it on Feb 19, received the system in perfect condition on March 3. I would definitely do business with them again."

"Ordered 4 fully assembled budget systems. I received exactly what I ordered on time. I'm the worlds biggest "tight wad": a friend of mine says I throw my money around like sewer lids. This group gets pretty good ratings here. The Better Business Bureau gives them their "satisfactory" rating (which is the best they give). Their prices are very competitive and they will honor "Pricewatch" advertised prices. I'm aware that some who have rated this company give them an unsatisfactory rating....it wasn't my experience. I found them to be right on with everything that I ordered and wanted. Here's one more thing for thought: When people are really ticked by something they will take the time to complain in writing on a site like this. If they are satisfied with service (or whatever) they usually won't bother to write anything. Therefore be careful about judging a company just by what you see here. When making purchases on line, print out every screen you work with. Ask for a faxed invoice, put it on a credit card, and it becomes pretty difficult for someone to rip you off! Eh? Yeah!"

"Pros: Fast delivery, competitive pricing, true to their prices referenced on Pricewatch, Attentive and responsive tech support, easy to access and intuitive website.

Cons: Their products descriptions are slow to update and are not a proper representation of what they are selling.

Point in case, I purchased a PC CHIPS M758LMR+ Motherboard, only to receive a PC CHIPS M758LT+ Motherboard. The latter is the newer revision of the system board produced by PC CHIPS however the prior was the one I needed (Linuxbios compatible mainboard). When I informed them of the error they apologized and offered to resolve the problem. I actually had alternative uses for the board and the price was right so I kept it and it works great. Good value for the price however, I don’t anticipate purchasing anything from them again.

"AVOID THESE SUCKERS: Called them on tues night and inquired how long it would be for an online order to ship, was told same or next day, it was hard to understand as everyone there sound like they just got off the boat from the Orient. Anyway the order was placed online and now it is 3 days later and the order is still saying prepared? whatever that means, I would assume Prepared means its ready to ship, but apparently it does not mean the same thing to these people. It is now Fri night, they are gone an emails go unanswered. This seems to be a really Loose and Unprofessional Company that does not have a clue or really care what Customer Service is. "

"I searched for 2 months online to find what I wanted because I wanted to do an upgrade on my computer (so I bought a case, processor, processor fan, and motherboard from this company).

I've emailed this company about 6 times and only gotten about 3 responses. The responses I did get were no longer than a sentence, were not complete sentences, and the sentences werent even capitalized. The person writing the email spelled shipping with three p's and left ...'s at the end of the sentence instead of a period. Very unprofessional in my opinion.

Also, after looking at this site for about a month I ordered on 1/10/03 which I realize was a Friday and UPS doesn't work on weekends so I waited till Monday expecting everything to be shipped. As of 2:30pm on Monday afternoon it has not been shipped. I emailed the company hours ago and have gotten no response. It has been marked as "prepared" for 3 days. When I order something I expect it to be shipped asap, not left collecting dust. And I expect timely responses and at least informative ones, not one-half sentence responses that don't make any sense.

Also I asked a week ago if shipments were automatically insured in a THREE PARAGRAPH DETAILED QUESTION and the response I got back was "we can ship 1 day, 2 day, 3 day bla bla bla". Nothing about it being insured or not. I had to email them AGAIN and I finally got a response back saying "yea, all shipments are insured".

I won't be dealing with this company again.


UPDATE:

I sent the company this email today after being hung up on and being given some REALLY BAD customer service:

I made an order on 1/10/03, and have sent over 5 emails and called over 5 times. Only 2 of my emails have been responded to, and when they are responded to they arent easy to read or in complete sentences and avoid the question that was asked. I have called several times only to be put on hold for 20 minutes and then hung up on. I called at 5:00 today and asked to know the status of my order, was put on hold for 20 minutes then disconnected. I then called back and got a busy signal. I then called back AGAIN and asked the same question wanting to know the status of my order and was told shipping leaves at 5:00 so I can't get that information. Why was I put on hold when shipping had left and then disconnected? Am I being lied to? The order was made on 1/10/03, and if it is not shipped TOMORROW on 1/14/03 I will NOT be a happy customer. I do not want my order sitting on a back shelf collecting dust. Please send tomorrow on 1/14/03! If there is a problem or something you need to tell me then EMAIL ME PROMPTLY.
Your prices are great, but the service lacks greatly! I will be a happy customer if my order ships tomorrow, or if you at least let me know something in a readable, and prompt email.

UPDATE: Called today on 1/14/03 after being put on hold twice during one call, hanging up after 20 minutes then calling back and being put on hold again and finally getting to talk to someone. The customer service acts like they do not want to talk to you because they answer the phone and then say "hold on" and your on hold for 20-30 minutes not knowing why. This company can not be that large.

Finally I asked about the status of my order and was told it would be shipped at 5-6 today by UPS and that I would get an email giving me a tracking # for the package whenever UPS scans the package. I expect this to happen by 7:00pm tonight (because that is when maincomp closes) or I will NOT be a happy customer yet again. I will update later and let everyone know if I get the email.

UPDATE:
I called maincomp back at 6:45 and talked to someone their. I did NOT receive a tracking number in my email address like I was told that I would get (also was told my order would be shipped at 5-6pm). I asked why I didn't get a tracking number and he told me that the shipping department leaves at 5:00. He also seemed confused that the person told me I would get an email with the tracking number and asked me who I talked to. I didn't know the ladys name so I just told him it was a woman. He told me to call back tomorrow before five and that they would give me a tracking #. So yet again I have to call back tomorrow. I seriously hope that this order of mine has been shipped and that I get a tracking number or I am going to be even MORE unhappy than I already am.

"One of the best I've dealt with. I ordered a complete 2GHz box for $262 and was called by the sales rep I dealt with the very same day to inform me that the price had gone down by $10! Very skilled staff that still test their systems with a complete "burn-in" -not found that often these days. Shipping was a little longer than I would have liked but that's because they tested the system before shipping (and that was at least 24 hrs there). Got the system in complete working order. I am a customer of theirs for life now!"
