"They will not honor their referral program.
They will not respond to email.
Non existing customer service.
Be very careful with your credit card information and don't save anything on this site.
I can not recommend buying from this site."
"Living Social is a nightmare to deal with. I bought a spa package at the Hilton Hotel in Mayfair London in September 2011. I bought it for my parent's Christmas present. I tried to book for specific dates and they were always booked up. In December they said they were completely booked up and couldn't see their diary for May 2012 onwards until 1st of February when again I had to spend hours on the phone. I did call the Hilton Hotel the morning of the 1st of February and no one answered the phone. I called Living Social to complain (again) and they said it was my fault for booking the deal through a third party (themselves) and they would not be able to give me a refund. I have wasted hours and hours trying to book the treatment I have paid for without any result and would not recommend this to ANYONE."
"Do not use this site! There customer service does not help you when a merchant does not honor a certificate. You are out the money...bottom line! Raymond at Pipos Cafe in downtown St. Petersburg also did nothing to resolve an issue over $20.00."
"I bought a gift voucher for my uncle to enjoy at a restaurant. needless to say he was not able to use the voucher and was in fact turned away when he visited the establishment. i told living social waht happened thinking they will be prompt in investigating this and refunding our money. they did no such thing and in fact they did not even respond to the first support email i sent them, and i had to send another one and start threatning them about caling my credit card to dispute the charge. well, now i have to do that since they refused to refund the purchase and said i had 5 days to cancel the purchase which no one would do since it takes most people over a month to use their vouchers. they are very lame and poor service and all they want is your money and then see ya! i've stopped buying from them and will enver do and ill make sure everyone i know and who's reading this to do the same.."
"Terrible customer service! I purchased a gym deal which was supposed to expire after three months. Two months later I redeemed the deal but was issued an expired voucher which the merchant wouldn't accept and LivingSocial wouldn't refund it as their T&Cs say that the merchant is responsible for all claims.
So in short LivingSocial is blaming the merchant and the merchant is blaming LivingSocial for misselling their deal!"
"Ever hear the adages "you get what you pay for" and "caveat emptor"? These certainly apply to LivingSocial. The two major underlying problems with LS are 1) they are not so strict at vetting companies and 2) this is a new way of doing business and merchants are learning as they go, making mistakes in honoring vouchers in the meantime. That's not to say that LS does not provide a valuable service to the consumer. Living in a city where even the worst nail salons charge over $50 for a spa mani/pedi, I can get a LS voucher at a decent, sometimes great, salon for half the price. The key is to do the vetting yourself by researching these businesses online. I've had some mediocre experiences, but at the prices I paid for the LS voucher, they were still good deals (not necessarily to say that I'd go back). Groupon does have a more generous refund policy and seems to vet better, but LivingSocial offers deals to places that Groupon doesn't, some of which have been positive experiences for me.
My review of LS is based on my one experience with their CS today. I got a voucher for music lessons at a school nearby and recently had my first lesson. The school provides instruments for the lessons, but they did not have my instrument, but something similar (but still DIFFERENT). This was completely on the school, not LS, that they weren't honest about not being able to provide me lessons on my choice of instrument so I wanted a refund on my remaining lessons. LS has a strict refund policy and they do not make exceptions - refunds within 5 days of purchase unless the merchant goes out of business. I didn't expect a refund but hoped they'd give me deal bucks. After reading reviews online, I worried about even getting that. I called their CS line and after about 15 minutes, got through to a CSR who totally understood my grievance and immediately credited my account with deal bucks for my remaining lessons. The deal bucks showed up right away on my account online.
People, LivingSocial is still a relatively young company and it would not surprise me if they go out of business in the next 5 years, so interact with them accordingly. Call, don't email their CS for faster resolution of your problem. Vet the businesses. Use your vouchers before they expire, and hopefully soon after purchase. At the same time, don't fly off the handle if you can't get a reservation/appointment with the merchant right away; even if they only sell 100 vouchers, chances are they will book up for the near future. Don't expect the same level of CS from either the merchant or LS that you are accustomed to. And please don't buy crap you don't need, this is a surefire way of making yourself unhappy!"
"I bought a voucher for Aveda Serenity Day Spa in June. In October I called expecting to get an appointment in a reasonable amount of time, but had to book into December and as a result forgot about the appointment. Upon realizing this, Aveda was contacted and I was advised it was voided. In the future Aveda or Living Social should be cognizant of the number of groupons that can be sold in order to provide efficient customer service by honoring them in a reasonable amount of time. "
"I booked a hotel for $99 and now the price is less if I booked the room right on the hotels website $93. The voucher said it was worth $199. I want to return my voucher and just book the room directly. They wont refund it so now I paid more by going through living social. Why not match the price!! Stay Away"
"Save your time and money! This company is a joke. Wished I would have read the reviews ahead of time. Too lengthy of a situation to go into it, just trust my word and stay away. Giving one star only because I can't give a ZERO!"
"AWFUL!!!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! They dont deserve any stars. I just asked for a refund from a laser hair removal I redeemed because I had been severely burned from someone who was not licensed. They told me I had to have my bank call. My bank told me this is not true they are just stalling the process. I just called the Supervisor "Sarah" extremly rude to me told me she would not refund me because i seeked medical atttention? If anything that is a reason to refund someone their money. We starting arguing and she hung up on me. IS THAT HOW THEY SOLVE PROBLEMS?@?@?@?@ by hanging up on people are you kidding me"
"HORRIBLE, bought coupon from them for a massage at local salon. Tried to book massage & company does not have personal to do it but "may" in 3 months. Asked for refund from Living Social. They refused & all they do is stonewall. Absolutely worst company I have done business with in last few years. Had to file credit card charge back. Thank God credit card companies are there for these situations."
"TERRIBLE! Stay away. I purchased a deal for a Toby Robot Vacuum Cleaner made by Irogen for £129. The fine print stated that it would take up to 6 weeks to deliver. 7 Weeks later, I emailed LivingSocial to ask about the status of the order and got a reply saying that Irogen could not honour the vuchers. LS themselves took no responsibility at all. The email stated I wold get a full refund and 5 deal bucks (laughable!). It's disturbing that they only offered the refund AFTER I took the initiative to contact them, 7 weeks after they had deducted the money from my account. Their website says that 593 other people purchased the deal. I can only hope they are all getting refunds too.

"I purchased a voucher from their site for a painting place. It showed an Expiration date of Oct 22, which is a Saturday. I went to the painting place on that Saturday and found that they are never open on weekends. I called livingsocial about this and they questioned me why I waited till the expiration date!!!"
"Deal I bought was a joke. Didn't include all of the 'fine print'. The vendor, On the Spot Home Services of NJ, placed many additional restrictions on the deal, and wanted lots more money to actually do the job. The vendor was also obnoxious.....seemed to think the whole thing was funny! I won't use Living Social or On the Spot again!"
"I bought an online "deal" for a full car service through LivingSocial.com.
The small print neglected to advise that I would be required to spend a further $200 on top of the $99 I'd already spent in order to receive my car service.
I raised a complaint with the LivingSocial website immediately and have had no response, depsite following up with them.
Based on my experience, I would not use LivingSocial.com again. Customer service is poor and the site uses bait and switch tactics to draw in cusotmers. "
