"If anyone is considering buying furniture from The Furniture Authority... don't. It's a bait-and-switch scam company liquidating furniture from warehouses in the area affected by Hurricane Sandy currently, listing the items at cutrate prices with free shipping. Everything looks legit, you place your order, it goes through, they charge your card- sure enough, no shipping and the price listed- only to receive an email a week later telling you there is a surcharge of several hundred dollars to be added to the shipping. Normally, this is easy- cancel it and order somewhere else. They don't give you that option. They tell you that- in the fine print they hide quite effectively during checkout- that you have a choice to pay the surcharge, or they will match a lower price of a competitor selling the same item doing curbside delivery. Well, we found the same furniture set through Amazon for a couple hundred dollars cheaper and sent them the link and a screenshot of the site... and they refused to match the price. We just asked for a full refund and cancellation of the order, so we'll see how this goes. I've already documented everything to prove to our credit card company that it was a bait-and-switch false-advertising fraud to reverse the charges, and will flambé them with the BBB if they refuse to refund our money. However, I don't want anyone else to fall into their seductive little trap. Spread the word."

"I like shopping for my home at the furniture authority, I haven't been disappointed so far. Delivery is always quick and quality is good. I bought a dresser for my bedroom and the quality for the price is so much better than what I found in stores. I've been buying a lot from them since, the daily fairs offer hard to pass up deals. I just received a storage ottoman which is beautiful! Thanks! "

"Service here is nonexistent. I got a dresser and it showed up totally busted and nobody would return my calls or emails. The online chat at the website did not respond either. I'm resorting to putting in a claim at the freight company."

"FRAUD! Do not order from these people! They will give you a decent price, invoice you, and then try to cahnge you a couple hundred dollars extra for 'broker's shipping fees'. To cancel the order they want to charge you 30%. So these are the options: either you loose 30% for cancelation fees, you loose the entire order amount since they will not ship unless you pay extra, or you pay them what they want, way more than other places. Communication is almost impossible with them! As bad as it could get!"

"Do Not buy ANYTHING here.. These people advertisse free delivery then once you have paid them the tell you that the order you place is oversized fragile and want you to pay about 100 dollars more. You can never reach anybody on their phone. and they are very slow about emailing you. They have no sence of urgency I have still not recieved my merchandise from them. I am about to have to file a claim with my bank to get my money back. "

"Wouldn't recommend using this site. Their prices are great, however their customer service and response to problems is the worst. Their shipping prices are also ridiculous. I paid $105.00 in shipping alone to receive a broken table. No response at all from The Furniture Authority. I've called, emailed twice, tried their "live-chat" (no help). I've tried contacting them via their facebook and twitter page. Warning all I can to stay away from this place. The Better Business Bureau will absolutely be hearing from me as well."

"I love this store.. This is my second purchase i made within a year. I bought a dining set earlier and now my daughter's white bedroom. Its lovely and the prices are great. the night stand came damaged and i reported it on the delivery receipt and they got it replaced. It took 4 weeks for the set to come in, not bad yeah!
People have to realize that they offer so many items and sometimes the surcharge is valid. i paid the surcharge and it was still the LOWEST out of anywhere else. go ahead and compare for yourself. they even have a price match policy. If you want to save money you have to come here!

"I was very unhappy with this company! I ordered from here and it has been over four weeks but my order still has not been shipped and then on top of that they charged me an additional $110 for "surcharge" that was not brought to my attention until two weeks after my order! Crappy business! Every time I complained, my concerns were ignored by customer service!"

"ordered was placed over a month ago. Thought it was a great deal, but turned out they wanted an additional $225.00 for a curbside shipping from carrier for an item that cost only $190.00. Ended up contacting my lawyer on my military installation, and they advise me to contact the BBB, and my credit card/bank to have file a claim. "

"Initially, I was skeptical about ordering with The Furniture Authority because of the other terrible reviews online. However, the price for the sofa I was considering was too good and I really wanted to get the deal. I ended up calling the store and I was transferred to one of the main supervisors Sunny. After speaking with him and explaining my position and skepticism about ordering with the company, he convinced me that he would personally make sure that everything went smoothly. It went extremely well and I received my low-cost sofa in good shape within a week or so. I was pleasantly surprised with the service and I would recommend others calling up customer service and making sure that everything goes smoothly in case you are keen on purchasing with them."

"These people are total crooks. I placed a set order with them and they let me know that they did not have one of the items in stock. I said fine and that I did not want a set with a missing item. They send me an email saying that is fine but later go to charge my card for the whole set. Now I am disputing the charge and have to deal with all the paperwork."

"Order a table with them on Wed 3/28/12, it said on the website that it was in stock. Contacted them and requested a pick up date. Got a response a day later saying that I can come on Friday. I requested a day off from work only to learn on Thursday at 9pm that Friday the warehouse will be closed. I called them right away on the phone to see if there was a chance of pick up anyway. Some woman of middle eastern decent picked up the phone and stated that she has dental appointment on Friday so she can't make it. It sounded like they were watching TV in the background and kids were running around. Lastly I was scheduled for pick up Tuesday at 10 am. I am all excited to be off from work to go and get a table to get a phone call 90 minutes before saying that my credit card was declined, not true, and if I want to pick up the table I will have to let them keep a printed copy of my transaction history from the website. Then he accuses me of attempting to rip him off and said that this conversation is being recorded sir. This seemed like a scene from a movie. These people are rude and disrespectful and have nothing good to bring to business.

Now in order for me to get my money back I have to do a back charge and deal with all the paperwork. PLEASE DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE MONEY. I just found this exact same table on the different website that only has 5 star reviews for $30 more.I hope these people go out of business.

"I placed and order with them for a counter height dining table. After hitting send it occured to me I had a question on the depth of the leg space because my husband is very tall. I've completed online form after online form, I'd phoned and left messages and finally just spoke to my credit card company. The charge is pending and there is nothing they can do until the charge actually comes through. I reviewed the item I was buying like crazy before selecting it but I did not review the company I was buying it from. What could have been solved with simple customer service providing me with a measurement has turned into a nightmare and I've been left with the hinky feeling you get when you are working with a disreputable company. I'm disappointed to say the least. "

"I have placed an order on Oct.26,2011. Next day,I checked the order status and it shows the order will be shipped by Fedex ground on Oct.31,2011.The estimated delivery on Nov.4th, 2011. I stayed all day at home to wait this package on Nov. 04. But nothing i can get. I made an call to Fedex with the tracking number on Nov. 5, but Fedex representative told me they never get any package from you store. It's such as scheduled shipment.The furniture website said normal shipment will be within 3-5 days. My order already past 10days. I called and emailed many times, but nobody get back. If I canceled the order, they will charge me. It like play game. Anyway, I called my bank to cancel the transaction."
