Good strategy, Janky execution

"As someone who has title to no experience in the gaming world, I'm strictly comparing to a standard market experience.

The good: lots of options for game titles, and trades. The business strategy for trade in options is great.

The bad: poor execution. The customer service is very janky. They must be ran by twenty something year olds that don't wake up till noon. Their service hours are only from noon-6pm est. They are not responsive to emails, and the form in which to request customer service doesn't work well at all on OSX platforms. They will **** you on the trade in's, and leave you high and dry on missing parts.

"Missing" Trade-In Items

"I want to preface this by reminding you that you are shipping your items to a company that then can say what is and isn't working and it's their word against yours. Be cautious of what you send them as you cannot get it back.

Traded in a video game console and multiple games because I've done business with them before and their decent trade in prices. I sent in three Xbox 360 plug and play controllers with one being a more expensive one. The battery packs for the controllers were not attached but separate in the box. Because of this whoever received the trade marked the controllers as defective even though I tested them and someone just so happened to be in the room while I tested them. Because of the incompetence of the employee who received my trade I'm now out the money and they can't ship back my items since they're "incomplete." Do not do business with them. Even though your local brick and mortar store may offer less for trade in at least it is an honest affair where your items aren't literally stolen. Just remember when you ship something to them they have the power to deem what is and isn't working and you won't get anything back.

Found a Customer in Me

"I can not speak highly enough of this company. Website, for the most part, is well laid out, loads super fast. Item categories are easy to find. I wish you could increase the amount of listed product results per page to more than ten. Paypal is a payment option. Unlike some local shops, you are able to be notified when items come back into stock.

When I've had an issue with any of my orders, the built-in support chat has always come to a speedy resolution. You can find good deals on many items. Even when the price is not the lowest, I'll still purchase my retro games here. This is because of the high standards they maintain on the games they take in.

Free shipping qualifying amount is very low. Shipping is speedy. Every game I have received has been in pristine condition. You won't find scratched discs, stickers, water damage, etcetera on anything. They even rewrap the case for me in protective plastic. Even the jewel cases feel of higher quality versus others I have come across in the past.

If eStarland keeps up the quality products, service, and policies, you can consider me a customer for life.

"Let's be honest, most internet reviews are either very good or very bad. Those of you who have had a bad experience with estarland, I apologize, but personally I was happy with them. I started by sending in a turbografx 16 system with games & accessories. To begin with the only place in town that would take it offered me 50 bucks. It's not like you can walk into Wal-Mart and buy one, so naturally I looked online. Estarland offered me $150 in store credit, which I thought was pretty fair, considering they even covered the cost of me shipping it to them. By the way their free shipping program was explained to me in a chat session with an employee, which I thought was pretty cool. So I send my package after printing a free shipping label. This is the only part I didn't like. After it was signed for the package sat in their store for a week before they processed it. To their credit it was the holiday season so surely they were busy, but still I hear their processing time can be a bit long, After I sent another chat message asking about it they processed it the next day. Upon receiving credit I placed an order which was in the mail the next day. It showed up 3 days later in excellent condition. Would work with these guys again, especially for rare old systems that local places want to lowball the hell out of you for."

"Ordered a couple items that was in stock. Paid in full. They then said one item was out of stock, and it is a re-release. So it would go into pre-order. Their mistake, but I was fine with that.

The date kept delaying, so I waited. Then about 2-3 months later, they cancelled my entire order. It appears they sold one of my items that was in stock even though I paid for it in full.

They said they will be refunding me. Waited a week. Didn't receive it. Emailed them and got no response. Sent another email and they said they contacted their billing department. Still got nothing a week later. Emailed them yet again, no response. I then had to do a chargeback.

Terrible. Sure, just like most stores, if you get your items, you are happy. But their business practice and customer service is terribly lacking. Another order I made took forever to ship and my item was slightly damaged as well.

So just like the other review, if you are trying to get your money back, they will pretty much ignore you or give you a run around.

"Horrible to deal with... My cashout order has been processing for 2 months. It's only for $25. This place is a scam. They kept telling me it will be processed in 3-5 days. I finally called and then was told that the "billing department" is having issues processing payments. They made it seem outsourced, but the real story is they must be going out of business."

"I've never bought from EStarland before and about a year or so ago I thought about it but decided against it due to ratings at the time and lack of getting costumer service to answer me.

Fast forward to Feb 5 2013 and I decide to take a dive on a rather expensive statue that I couldn't find anywhere else at a lesser price.

I ordered at around 3am on Feb 5 and my order was shipped via UPS that morning (during store hours). I do wish I had more options in shipping but this was probably a weight issue on my order. Since this was a $350+ statue I was still worried that something would be wrong with it, paranoia over bad luck you know.

I got the statue (feb 8) and my god, the packaging was heavily bubble wrapped and secure. It was completely new, no marks, openings, nothing not even shelf wear. It was exactly what I ordered and well protected. UPS did a far worse job as they just left the nearly 2FT package on the door step as if no one would ever steal it. Luckily no one did but this has no bearing on how I feel about EStarland.

The store is mainly for games so that is a different matter but they have a nice small selection of imports that makes me wish I would have dealt with them earlier. Overall I'm more than happy and wish stores who specialize in figures/statues/goods would have as quick of a turnaround and good packaging as this place. I'd certainly buy from them again.
