"My first order with DeepDiscount has been completed with mixed results (I would rate the overall experience a 3.5 out of 5, rounded to 3).

The price was great, and the shipping was free - no complaints about those. But, I placed my order on June 6th and didn't receive it until June 26th. So, the shipping could certainly be better. As has been noted in other reviews, there's also no way to confirm when your product is actually shipped, and there is no tracking number.

The item (a dvd) was packaged in a thin (very thin) white plastic bag/mailer that was a bit battered with a couple of small tears/holes upon arrival. It appears the dvd had originally been placed inside an indentation of a flimsy clear plastic mold that offered little protection / support on one side. It apparently slipped out of the mold during transit. At first, I thought the case was damaged but it turned out to be okay (the plastic mold was deformed).

To sum up, the price was great, and the shipping was free but slow, and the packaging could have certainly been better. Is the low price worth the risk of damage during shipment, and a fairly long wait for the product. I'll leave that to your discretion and I'll be weighing those issues against just how good the price is before deciding whether to go for it in the future.

"While my experience with this company goes back as far as 2002, I can really only state that the most salient and positive thing about them is their pricing.

That is, sometimes low pricing made excellent by perpetual free shipping; it's their business staple.

(This is not to say that "low" is synonymous with an "incredible bargain", or a "Steal!", but it's a relative "low" for brand new items--when you want that guarantee that what you're getting is exactly what you want, and mint.)

Despite that, everything else about them is generally a toss up, although memory and email/order records--most of which are no longer retained on their servers with their myriad internal changes--have proven that they weren't always the best with the whole shipping ordeal. (That along with WTF surprise pre-order price changes back in 2002 that are a blur to recall.) Free is great, wonderful, awesome even, but based on this most recent 2010 order, "free" still equates with "inordinately slow".

They aren't big on alacrity, except on their website.

Say you're in a time-sensitive situation that requires that an order reach you by, or a little before, the end of the month... don't go with free shipping. If you do opt for a deal, here are two points to keep in mind:

1) (if possible) put the order in close to the beginning of the month, and...

2) do not bank on the estimated arrival dates.

You don't get any tracking information from them, so you never know if the date they actually ship the item(s) is accurate. (If there are other paid options, tracking might be included, but that's the last thing I'd think to check when splurging on discounted stuff.) They send you generic confirmation and delivery emails, either the same day or day after your order, with basic info that includes estimated dates, a super-vague shipping method, and a link to check on the order on their site. NOTE: The link is wholly useless when it comes to checking status; everything they want you to know is already included in the emails.

Being in the dark normally doesn't matter if you're not up against some sort of deadline--because (based only on my experiences) you will get exactly what you ordered, but not having a tracking number for a large, expensive order can be a tad nerve wracking.

Customer service exists although I had no use for them this time around. (Some digging into my records has shown that they, at one time, assigned tracking numbers to emails, not actual orders.)

All in all, you may get what you want from DeepDiscount, just don't expect them to care about the little things.

"There are very super slow to get your item to shipping, it takes days. Hope and pray they don't screw your item because it takes even longer for them to maybe fix any errors.

If you have a problem and deepdiscount.com doesn't help you trying contacting Infinity Resources, Inc. ( www.infinityresources.com ) which are the owners of deepdiscount.com.

"After the order was placed on Feb 16, 2010 they canceled it on Mar 8, 2010 under the excuse that PayPal didn't authorize the payment - and THEY ARE LYING (PayPal didn't reject any of the charges on my acct this year - including theirs which is still shown as "pending"). I tried to resolve this through their "customer service" - they sent me the same canned reply. Don't waste your time with those MORONS."

"like a few others have expressed,,,I AM SHOCKED at the low ratings. as one person mentioned, if your order is time-critical, order elsewhere. it takes 1 1/2 to 2 weeks. but here's the deal, there's no place cheaper and shipping is FREE.

if anyone has problems about changing the order,,,then do it right the first time!!! if i had to choose between sacrificing savings/freeshipping for faster delivery,,,i wouldn't. just when you think you've seen a low price, ddd has a lower price.

"Order was never received, sent multiple emails, they either tell you to wait up to 10 business days, or just no reply. Called the customer service after 3 weeks for full refund, they tried to ship me another one, and finally promised to credit my account, but never did that. Have to call the credit card company for dispute. Few dollars saving can cause so much trouble."

"This company is terrible. It's been over 11 days since the company says the merchandise shipped. It doesn't take 11 days to send something through the post office. I was told that if I didn't get my order, I could place it again on 1/4/2010. Does that make any sense to anyone?

"This is the second time that I have used deep discount. I used pricegrabber and it showed that they had the best price. Basically I have the same issues as everyone else. I ordered something only to be told that it was backordered, although nowhere on their website did it say this. When something is backordered there is an indeterminable time when it will come in. Horrible customer service they said it takes 24 hours for the website to catch up and show an out-of-stock status. I canceled my order. I will NEVER use them and I wouldn't advise my worst enemy to do so. Trust me, pay a little more somewhere else."

"Here are some things you need to know in ordering from deepdiscount... . Do not order if getting the item is time critical since there is no way to know how long it will take to get your order. Sometimes things have shipped in a few days, others were backordered indefinitely, and you cannot tell what is really available prior to ordering. Some things may be automatically cancelled after a month, I think. (2) To cancel something requires phoning them, checking your order on-line the next day, then phoning again if necessary. Rinse and repeat. (3)It is difficult to cancel if part of your order is in the process of being shipped; this is an unintentional or intentional flaw in their system; it could be fixed but they leave it. Recently, one of their reps couldn't cancel a backordered item, but she arranged for a supervisor to do it after closing time. So, good marks for the rep but bad for the system. (This was one week after another rep said he had cancelled the item but hadn't.)
I don't understand other folks' problem with ordering by mistake. You have to enter all the usual stuff to get through the ordering process. However, as with many sites you have to empty your cart before you leave if you don't want to come back with the stuff still there.
So, deepdiscount's low prices are a mixed blessing. Caveat emptor!

"Be forewarned that one cannot cancel, change, or delete an order once placed, even when attempted immediately after placement. A misleading (to me) coupon received led me to believe that I would get 40% off $151.89 DVD set. Amazon's sells for $25 less but I considered DD's 40% off a better deal. Well, I thought I was clicking to a review page but found that I had erroneously ordered @ $151.89. I attempted to cancel the order on site immediately; on my acct. site I sent email to cancel, and I phoned cust. serv. as soon as they opened for business same morning. However, I was put on hold repeatedly for up to half an hour at a time. The next day early cs ans. finally after 15-20 min. on hold and I was told, "Sorry, too late. We don't cancel after an order is placed. Deep Discount dosen't allow cancellations on site even when attempted immediately after placement, or by phone either." Three days later I'm notified it's being shipped! I will refuse the pckg unopened & return to sender upon arrival and dispute any charges to my credit card. I've been happy with Deep Discount in the past but will never respond to another coupon with a promise of any large % off, and I'm now wary of this seller."

"I was surprised when I saw the low rating for Deepdiscount (or Deepdiscountdvd). I have made about 100 seperate orders for more than 100 DVDs from them since 2003 and have never had a problem. I came to write this review because of an extremely positive experience I have just had with their customer service. It was a very rapid response with a positive outcome and one in which I felt they went beyond any obligations. I will not hesitate purchasing from them again. With no tax and free shipping, their end price is generally as good as can be found."
