"My story is the same as all the others. Ordered a Star Wars Clone Trooper costume for my six year old grandson from www.starwarscostumeshop.com (same as Costume Hut) on October 19, 2005 and web site indicated it would be delivered by October 21, 2005 since I added $16.94 extra shipping. The costume was needed for a Halloween party on the 22nd. I left the state to be with my terminally ill mother during a rather risky surgery only to receive frantic calls from my son that the costume hadn't arrived. I received an e-mail confirmation that the costume had been ordered on 10/23/05 and would be shipped (no specific date.) I've called and e-mailed, as has my son, to no avail. You can't get through on their phone lines and e-mails aren't answered. We finally located another costume at an unreasonable price of $79 with shipping for Halloween, and used an old costume for his Halloween party. I hated to spend so much, but I didn't want to disappoint a six year old child either. I'm furious that this company is still in business and am trying to resign myself to the fact that I'm out $49.30. Yes, they did manage to charge my card and the money is in their hands, never to be seen by me again I'm sure. I'll join a class action suit too (****@****) if someone starts one. Any ideas on who we might contact in Canada for this worthless store?"

"Ordered 2 costumes on October 5th and was told I would receive them by October 20. I received an e-mail on October 19 stating that they costumes were being shipped. I received only one of the costumes on Wednesday, October 26 and have not yet received the other costume (today is Halloween). Have sent several e-mails but have received no response. My credit card was charged for the entire amount. I have reported this to my credit card company as a fraudulent transaction."

"I have the same story as everyone else. Ordered my son's costumer on September 27th. After not receiving it, I called them (voicemail box full), emailed but no response. Finally sent them an email telling them that we were going to report them. They sent one back on Oct. 20 saying that my ordered was shipped. Didn't receive it and on Oct. 28 they send me an email saying that it was back ordered! 3 Days before Halloween they tell me this and I ordered it a month before. My son is so disappointed and I'm so mad! Anyone have any suggestions on how we can bring this company down because this has to stop. "

"I ordered Halloween Costumes from this store on Oct. 8th. I paid extra to have them delivered by October 19th. It is now October 28th and I have not received them. I have called long distance 5 times and e-mailed 3 times. On October 25th they e-mailed back saying the items would arrive shortly, but did not say when they were shipped. You can not reach a human by phone, only a voice mail box that is "full". My third e-mail was finally responded to on the 28th and it said that my items were shipped on the 25th. Remember I paid to have them ARRIVE on the 19th. The only reason I received an e-mail with a ship date, I believe, is because I threatened to go to the BBB and other like organizations. They have said the costumes will arrive on Halloween, but I will be very suprised if they do. I already have four very dissappointed sons who have not had their costumes for school parties, etc. Never once in their limited correspondence have they addressed the fact that I paid to have faster shipping. Please don't reward this company by doing business with them. It is bad enough to deceive adults, but obviously many costumes are for children and it is just unthinkable how they have dissappointed who knows how many children."

"THIS COMPANY IS FRADULENT - DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM!!!!!
My story is the same as all the others. I ordered a toddler yoda costume and adult princess leia costume on Sept. 27. I was so excited to find these costumes finally - they are sold out everywhere. My older son was going to be Darth Vader and my husband a Jedi knight, which we were able to find locally. They immediately charged me for the Leia costume and shipping charges. I waited 2 weeks then emailed to find out what was going on. They wrote back to say "we are pleased to inform you that your order is undergoing the verification process" I wrote back to ask what this meant and they said they were checking to see if they had my order in the correct size. ??? Told them I needed the costumes pronto and could they give me an exact date? They wrote back to say one costume was backordered but would def. be there by "the big day". I wrote and told them that I was very upset, we needed the costumes not just for "the big day" but for parties/carnivals in the preceeding weeks. I told them to overnight the costumes as soon as they got them and to tell me an exact date. Also I asked why an additional charge appeared on my card. They wrote back to say this charge was for the second costume, a Mr. Incredible. WHAT? I ordered yoda, not Mr. Incredible. I tried to call them and got the full voicemailbox only, which other people seem to get. Very fishy. I emailed and told them to call me immediately at work so we could figure out what was going on. Finally on 10/20 I got an email stating that my order had been shipped. Presumably the wrong order. I wrote again to say they needed to call me b/c it appeared they had sent the wrong package. Then today I received an email (note that a week ago they emailed me saying that my order had been shipped RUSH and would arrive in time for Halloween) saying that they were having trouble getting Princess Leia and it might not be there in time for halloween, so is there something else I would like? HA! I have put in a dispute with my credit card company and wrote costume hut a nasty email. That is the end of me wasting my time with costume hut. If anyone is really going to move forward with the class action, please contact me at ****@**** and I'll join in too.
I hate costume hut! All those poor children without their costumes, it makes me sick.

"Just the same story as everyone else. I placed an order for my son's Star Wars costume over 2 weeks ago and paid for airmail. I even included a note that if it would not arrive by the 22nd, they should cancel the order, and let me know. Now it has been a week since the estimated delivery date and it looks like - no costume. I repeatedly asked for any information regarding the order in a polite way, simply asking someone to let me know what was happening so I could have time to prepare something else if it would not arrive in time.

I have called them a dozen times over the course of the last week and each time got only an automated message telling me their mailbox is too full to accept a message. And the only email I received was a few days ago saying it would be "arriving shortly". Not exactly enough information to make a plan.

Unfortunately, I did not receive a reply in time for my son's costume party. Needless to say, he was pretty disappointed to be going without a costume. More importantly, I am now in the same position for Halloween, again not sure if I should go hunting for another costume at this late stage or if I will be spending the money twice.

I understand how busy things get for their business at this time of year. I run a website retailing action figures and we do more than a third of our sales in the 5 weeks before Christmas. Busy yes, but we also know ahead of time what our deadlines are and how important these particular deadlines are to our customers.

I suspect these guys knew they wouldn't make it in time (if at all) and have been too embarrassed to answer all of these people's angry emails and calls. If they can't fulfill costume orders at Halloween they should probably take the hint and get out of the business. If shopping on the internet is just fun for you whether you get your order or not, go ahead and try Costume Hut, but if you need to actually receive what you pay for, stay away from these guys.

BTW an update - nothing arrived for Halloween and still no reply. I called my son the Sad Little Pirate in the costume I made for him the day before. What jerks!

For all of the other victims, just call your card issuer and start a chargeback. Unless they have proof the order arrrived they have no choice but to cancel the charges. It's easy and the burden is on the store to offer any documetation to the contrary.

"My story is like everyone else here. I placed my order on 9/22/05 and still have not rec'd anything. Credit card was charged on 10/10/05. Still nothing rec'd yet. Trying to get my money back with the help of my cc company. I get emails from this fraudulent company that my refund will be issued in 2-3 business days, but never comes. I've filled out a form online with fraud.com. Costume Disguises also runs costumehut.com, starswarscostumeshop.com, buycontact-lenses.com, legsensations.com, wackycostumes.com, costumelab.com, costumeknights.com, lightsabershop.com. The people or person running this scam will hopefully get caught and get put behind bars."

"I ordered my child's Halloween costume online on 20 October and paid $17.00 to guarantee delivery on 24 October. Needless to say, no costume as of 26 October. I called their toll-free customer line where you cannot speak to a human and left about five messages a day. No reply. I e-mailed their customer service address about five times a day. No reply. I even phoned them at their address in Quebec (my charge) and reached a mailbox that said it was full and please hang up. I have since disputed the charge to my credit card and they won't be getting anything for this order from me. And my son was so excited about his costume; as a parent I am infuriated to pay for a guaranteed product by a certain date and then find out there was seemingly no intention of fulfilling the transaction."

"Just like the rest of the other comments- I too ordered and my son was very very very excited and when the delivery date came and went, and I could not get ahold of anybody or leave a message, or get a response to any of my e-mails, I began to worry. And now I see that my inner fears are true. My poor son, how do I even start to explain how some people can be so horribly aweful to victomize children and their hopes."

"Just like the others, I will have to tell my son that his costume isn't going to arrive. It's too bad I didn't find this site sooner. I made my purchase on costumehut.com on 10/11/05. When my order didn't arrive on 10/19/05 (as stated) I e-mailed and called the company. I received no repsonse from e-mail and when I called I got a message that the mailbox was full and couldn't leave a message. I wouldn't recommend Costume Hut to anybody."

"I am apalled...I have never recieved the costume I ordered and they have charged my credit card. This company Costume Hut even charged me for express shipping that was never shipped. I payed a total of $69 and recieved nothing. I have reported them for Visa fraud and Internet fraud. If you do a google search on this company you will see the same thing has happend to others. Shame on them.... doing this to children. Please also beware that this company also goes by Star Wars Costume.Com. This is where I ordered my childs costume from and that is why I did not see the consumer ratings.BEWARE!"

"They made a mistake, charged my credit card and will not return my money! Details below.

•I ordered a Costume at the beginning of August 2005
•A few weeks later I sent an inquiry about the costume since I didn’t receive it
•I received an email response back from someone at customer service stating the order was back ordered and would not ship until September
•I requested the order to be canceled because of the backorder
•I received an email confirmation back stating the order was canceled
•On September 12, I received a notice that my credit card was charged the costume
•On September 12, I sent a email that I canceled my order and to please remove the charge from my credit card
•On September 15, I received an email from the same customer service person the canceled the order stating that my order was shipped and I could not cancel it
•On September 15, I send a return email with the detail stating that it was sent in error and that the order was already canceled on August 21 with a confirmation email from her.
•I got no response back from them for a long time.
•Afterwards I left many voice mail message and send hundreds of emails hoping that someone would pay attention and have the courtesy of calling me to resolve the problem.
•Finally weeks later someone responded because I send hundered of emails and left many voice mails
•I refused receipt of the costume and sent it back as directed on September 24th
•I asked to work directly with one person -- a manager or higher authority - they keep passing my problem around to 5 or more people
•I asked for them to track the location of the package - no response
•I asked for the date when I will receive my money back and the amount of return since I want the S/H returned since the product was sent in error -- No response.
*It's been 1 month since the costume was sent back and they claim they never received it back and will not refund my money even though I canceled the order 3 weeks prior to the send and send it back as directed. They sent it in error, they should assume responsibility for the mistake they made but they will not
*I have all the correspondence from them in email so there isn't any questions about the situation but they don't seem to care about that

"I purchased a costume from costume disguises/costume hut on September 27,2005, for my son for Halloween. It was suppose to be delivered on October 12. That day came and went, so I tried calling the 800 number on their website, and never got thru. I emailed them to find out when the costume was going to be delivered. They emailed me to tell me that there was a delay of one week, they expected more in and would send it out in a week. The next week came and went with no costume. I emailed again and received an email from Stacy that said my credit card which had already been charged, had declined payment. I emailed them to tell them to send costume or credit my card back. I received two different emails today, one saying that they were verifying everything and that the costume was being sent to me with express delivery. I opened the next email and was told the costume was on backorder! They are currently showing this costume as being available on their website. I order online all the time and have never had a problem until now. My son is upset, I am furious at this point. I have contacted my credit card company and will be disputing the charge. What can be done to put these companies out of business? "
