"Bought a used iMac. When I received the box, it was missing the keyboard and mouse. I eMailed Cedarpc and requested additional parts. Received an eMail back stating that the product comes without both. When I told them I have screen shot of item listing that the keyboard and mouse were included they wrote me back and said I could return the full pc for another but I would be charged 15% restocking fee and another $52 shipping. Stay away."

"I recently purchased an Iomega 1TB Prestige Desktop HDD from CedarPC. The shipping was very quick from VA to CA, but when I received the product the box was already open. There was a sticky note on the box that said "New Open Box", not sure what that means. It looked like the hard drive was previously handled. I tried connecting the hard drive to my laptop but it was unable to be detected. I used the manufacturer's website and followed through all of the troubleshooting steps. Still, the hard drive did not work and I narrowed it down to the hard drive being defective. The USB port on the hard drive was also slightly indented, as if it was not designed correctly. I contacted the Chantilly office, where I spoke to a CSR who could not help me with my exchange/return at all. Told me to fill out an RMA, and that was the only advice he could give me. I paid $11 for shipping and handling, and read on the website that I will most likely have to pay return shipping and handling. I am not very happy with the service thus far with CedarPC.

Update - I will not receive a refund on shipping or my return shipping. I spent $23 to receive a defective item and return it, and I will not be compensated for that money. I would highly recommend shopping somewhere else, such as tigerdirect.com.

"I shopped at a couple of traditional brick and mortar stores first to compare and find the right product. Then, when I knew what I wanted and searched Google shopping for the best price. Cedar PC was the first functioning site with the best price (about $70 savings over office max and staples even after shipping.) The item was described as brand new in original packaging and it arrived in a reasonable amount of time in the exact condition stated. The HP laser printer works great and I have all of the comforts that come from a genuine HP one year factory warranty. Thank you cedar pc."

"I would never have gone there if I read these reviews before head over there. It did cost me about 10$ for nothing in about 40 mins. They said that it costs them to put back an open box, old item on the shelf when customers return products. "

"I absolutely love this company. Every computer I've bought in the past three years has been from these guys (though of course the first one I bought has lasted the whole time; the others have all been gifts!) - along with external HDs, flash drives, cases, etc... I've persuaded all of my friends and family - including those perfectly capable of restoring or rebuilding their own computers - to use these guys, and I hear nothing but good things.
Obviously, since they're a refurb store, the key is to pay attention to the item descriptions - they'll tell you exactly what you're in for - but they've never been anything but fair and willing to help me out whenever I've needed a hand.

"I was really impressed with CedarPC's prices and shipping. I bought my grandson a Dell Mini with Windows 7 Starter Edtion, a good beginning computer. I purchased it on 11-12-10. Needless to say it was never used until after 01-01-11. On 01-21-11 my grandson connected his mouse because his games were hard to play with the board on the Mini. My grandson is left-handed and changed the setting to left-handed. The computer started asking him for the Windows 7 Starter disk in order to finish the resetting. Mini's do not have disk drives. I called Leonard at the Chantilly store. He said to do an RMA and they will get my computer fixed even though it is beyond the 30 days. Apparently, there is not a recovery or restore partition on the hard drive. That was two days ago. I have just received an email DENYING the RMA. Now the Mini is really useless because it will not boot at all unless we come up with the recovery or restore disks. I realize that this is a software issue, but it is an operating system. Why did CedarPC not make sure there was a partition on the hard drive. Dell will not help us because CedarPC will not tell us the original owner's name. Dell tells us that there is still 65 days left on the original warranty. I encourage everyone, do not buy from CEDARPC. I have better luck buying from individuals. At least they realize that their products were defunct to begin with and get someone to put restore or recovery partitions back on the hard drive. "

"I visited the Chantilly location on 12/19/10 for review of my computer that was not working (invoice #26995). The charged me $89 to tell me the reason it was not working is that a $20 part Cedar PC had sold me a couple of weeks earlier was defective. Quite a scam they have going. Sell a bad part then charge $89 to tell you the part was bad.

Added commentary:

I am following up to the comment by the Cedar PC rep to my prior review. What this person has stated is simply not true. Not only did I tell them the that I had purchased the parts from them but I also left with them the packaging and the old parts so they could verify that the parts were in fact correct for my computer.

"DO NOT PATRONIZE. Item (computer docking station) was sold in locked condition, without a key. The listing did show that there would not be a key, but not that the unit would be shipped locked, and therefore unusable. CedarPC refused to take it back. They sold an unusable product that should have been discarded for recycling rather than sold as if it was of value."

"Bought a replacement laptop battery for my MacBook pro. Two months later, after very normal use, it simply died. CedarPC's return policy is 30 days and they have refused to make any allowances after several communications. Buyer beware of this Reseller."

"We bought a HPTouchsmart pc from them. It took two hours for them to connect to their own internet (wirelessly) to show that the camera works. I should have known what I am getting into. Within three days we got a blue screen of death with Driver_IRQ_less than error. Took it to them after a week they say it is due to some software issue and so not covered under warranty and they can reinstall the OS for 100 bucks. What a joke?. STAY AWAY FROM THEM AT ALL COSTS."

"I got myself a nice looking XPS M1710 the same day the video card died on me took it back to get fixed then got it back 9 days later it happened again so I took it back wishing to trade they said sure but were have to charge you a restock fee, on the receipt it says they dont charge on non-defective products which they did to me thats 82.50 I dont have back to me!! I say dont bother they just want your money for bad products and when you take it back they dont even want to help out I have a few years of computer tech experience and I know a defective item when I see it.

Policy stated on receipt:
30 day warranty from us on all parts and systems unless covered by manufacturer's warranty. 15% restocking fee will be charged for non-defective merchandise. Non-refundable after 14 days of purchase date. Warranty does not apply to physical damage of misuse. Warranty is for hardware only, software support is available for a fee.

I think defective video card does count for full refund based on what is stated on "policy"
