"WHAT A SCAM!!!!price was too good to be true on a fuji 3800. when i called after waiting a week i was redirected to the same saleman Ralph and got voicemail after voicemail....all day! emailed 3-4 times asking whats-up? when i checked the web sight again the camera price shot up 60 bucks!!!THESE PEOPLE SUCK! all i have is a paper with an order reciept...:("

"i ordered a camera and recieved it before the time i was promised i was extactic . everything was brand new and factory fresh as promised.salesperson was not pushy and was very helpful.tech support with cameratopia is great.they took their time to help me figure out some functions on my camera .

"Same basic experience as the rest - magically the item was "unavailable" and voicemail messages not returned. I turned these guys into the FBI internet crime unit. The more who report, the more likely action will be taken!! Here's the URL to do so:

Update - 2/19/03: I ordered the unit from B&H, it arrived when promised and was them same price as Camweratopia!!

"If you have not ordered from these SCAM ARTISTS yet, RUN WHILE YOU STILL CAN! I placed an order for a Nikon 5700 on 12/26. Salesperson told me accessories are 30-50% off if I order at the time I purchase the camera. Quoted me $549 (or possibly less) for a high speed 1GB compact flash, so I ordered it. I also told him I would take the cheapest, smallest camera bag. Jan 2nd received a broken camera, a huge camera bag, and a note that the compact flash was back-ordered. Jumped through all the appropriate hoops and shipped the camera back the next day. A week later I get a message that my returned camera arrived and a new one and the CF card would be shipped 1/13. 1/23 still no package, but my credit card statement arrived. I was billed $799.99 for a compact flash card that never arrived, and almost the same amount for the camera! I called and was told the items were on their way, but because I needed them by the weekend, they would next day ship them. I was not given a tracking number, and when I asked, she could not even tell me when the package that was supposedly on its way was shipped. Then she called back and said they never received the camera I shipped back! (I still have the answering machine message that they did get it!)Next day shipment never arrived. I cancelled my order and am currently awaiting a refund. They are charging a re-stocking fee of 15% for the bag. I have also lost $80 in shipping fees, and that does not even include my postal costs to ship things back. With those outrageous shipping and re-stocking fees, these people never even need to complete a sale to make a profit! UPS did try and deliver a package yesterday - it was much too small to contain a camera.

It has now been nearly a month since I was told I would get a refund and nearly 2 months since I've placed my order and still no refund! (over $1,700!!)

"This is one of the worst e-retailers I've ever seen. Their order process is a drag, they do try bait-and-switch, they didn't deliver as advertised, then after my complaints, cancelled abruptly. They suck."

"My camera order was place on 12/11/02 and promised to ship in 24-48 hours. Two weeks received an email that the order was delayed. I telephoned customer service who thought I was calling to place an order and was told the same camera would ship immediately if I ordered accessories. When told I was not interested in accessories, I was informed that the camera was not in stock and orders were being fulfilled from 11/11/02, and I should have mine in in two more weeks. On 1/25/03 upon my inquiry, I was told the camera was out of stock and would not be available for 4 to 8 more weeks. The only thing this company did efficiently was to CANCEL MY ORDER. I might add that during the 6 week period this seller continued to advertise the camera at various prices. "

"Called as directed to check for availability of the Olympus C730, told it was in stock, would ship following day then placed order. Five (count 'em 5) days later I receive an email telling me that the product has been delayed for 3-5 weeks. So called to check they told me it was the manufacturer's lack of supply. Called back posing as a new customer, told the camera was in stock and would ship the next day. Had argument with insolent sales rep. Did not cancel order until mid january after finding this website and reading all of the stories identical to mine. DO NOT ORDER FROM THESE SCAM PEOPLE."

"URGENT - Don't Purchase a thing from CAMERATOPIA! I ordered an Olympus C-4000 on Tuesday, 12/10/2002, 10:07am. I placed the order via the internet which indicated call to confirm availability and was told the unit was in stock and would ship in 1-2 days. Tuesday, 12/10/2002, 9:20pm I received an email advising that the camera was now on backordered and would ship in 3-5 weeks. I called back several times to check the status and could never get the same answer. In fact I received 3 differant answers in the same day. I called back after the five weeks and was told it would be another four weeks. I called back as a new customer to place a new order and was told the camera was in stock. I cancelled my order immediately. The next day I placed a new order with Buy Rite Digital. It shipped when they said it would and the pricing was close to Cameratopia. "

"As many have said in their reviews, Cameratopia is a SCAM. After putting my order online, I called them a few hours later to confirm my payment information and the sales person insisted I purchase extra accessories for another $450.00. I declined and he then said he'll drop that to $266.00. I accepted. I went online later to check on my order and noticed the price we had agreed on was increased and the shipping doubled. I called back and spoke to the rep who was rude. I cancelled my order."

"Very dissatisfied. This is strictly a bait and switch company. Exact same story is repeated over and over below. They waste your time by saying they are sending a product and it is in stock...but unless you buy lots of extra add-ons - it is amazing how quickly it disappears from stock. I want nothing to do with a company that only practices business by deception."

"Same story as everyone else..... I called to see if the camera was in stock. They said yes it was, so I ordered on-line. Only after I ordered, did I find all the bad feedback about this company on the internet.

I called them the next day to confirm my order. They said that it was in the system.... but then he asked me if I had all the accessories that I needed. I said that I had everything that I needed. I asked when my camera would ship, and he told me in 3 weeks. I told him immediately to cancel my order becasue they had lied to me. THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM! THEY ARE RIP-OFF ARTISTS!!!!

"Well.. I tried to order equipment from these people but after visiting their website where the item I wanted was listed in stock, I called and tried to order the item.

You would think that trying to SPEND money w/ a vendor would be appreciated by the vendor. The first 'sales' rep I spoke w/ hung up on me as soon as I stated I wanted to order the Sony DSC F717 digital camera. I called back and was put on hold. I held for a sales rep who finally answered and when I again stated what I was looking to buy transferred me to the 'sales' dept (funny, that's who I thought I was speaking to since that's what I pushed on the voice menu).

After holding for another 10 mins or so someone picked up and I asked "is this the sales dept.". He informed me that it was and I told him that I wanted to purchase the F717. He immediately asked if I needed anything else (hmmm.. red flag?). I replied that I didn't and was placed on hold again. That lasted for about 5 mins when the man picked up the phone again and said 'Hello?' (hmmm... red flag #2)

I told him that I was just speaking to him and inquired about the F717 to which he replied that it wasn't in stock and wouldn't be for 2 weeks.

Of course.. he did have a 'special F717 kit' that I could purchase for the 'low, low price of....'

.... .... yea, that's just what I wanted to hear.

"STAY AWAY!!! Ordered a Nikon Coolpix 5700. Not high pressure like others, but if you don't order high priced accessories you never get main item you want at the low ball, bait and switch price. They just keep saying it will be a "couple of weeks", then you start getting routed to James' voice mail which I'm convinced doesn't save any messages, then you reach the point of cancelling the order at which time they didn't ask why or what was the problem, just "order number". This was the third bad experience after Buycamera4less, Mrniceguycameras which were worse. If you want a GOOD experience, pay the extra hundred bucks and buy from DigitalFotoDiscountClub (wonderfull experiece) which handled the transaction completely on-line with no annoying "call to confirm"."
