"I wish I could rate Calumet Photo higher but I'm haven't been impressed with the Customer Service or Shipping Department. I ordered my Nikon D300 on Saturday with the webpage stating that it would ship by Monday afternoon. I chatted online with their Customer Service Rep. and was assured on Monday that it would easily ship by that afternoon. Tuesday came and it still reflected unshipped, I called the Customer Service Department after not getting a response from my email which was asking for the tracking number once they shipped and also asked why it didn't ship as promised and he called their shipping department and was told that they were having problems I believe with their database and the delay in shipping would be restored by today and that they would upgrade my shipment to Next Day Air. I was greatly appreciative and even sent an email thanking them for the superb service I had been promised only to find out later that evening that it shipped via UPS Ground as I had originally ordered when I thought it would ship on Monday. Sorry Calumet but it bad business to say one thing and do another. I appreciate a business that can say what they do and do what they say! I would like to do business with you again but I don't appreciate being mislead! "

" This was my first experience ordering with Calumet Photo. My web order was not fulfilled after three days, and customer support was uncommunicative - ignoring emails. The staff could provide no information (when eventually called to cancel) as to fulfillment times or shipping delays. Also, customer service could have cared less why I was canceling, or how I could be helped, so I guess business is good! Calumet is not the absolute lowest cost up front, but when jobs have to be cancelled because of another supplier's incompetence, that extra dollar or two up front looks extremely cheap.

Actually, I placed an order with their competitors first, but they were not able to ship me the item - but indeed kept my money for ELEVEN DAYS!!!

And what a breeze! The item was shipped the same day as I payed for it and was delivered in 3 business days! And that's an international order!

They had the lens shipped back to me the same day they received it which is very impressive. "This vendor is terrific. Very professional and helpful. You may pay a bit more (minimal if you do), but it is worth it to deal with someone reputable.

I've ordered two items from them in the past two weeks. They are efficient and I always got exactly what I needed. I would recommend no one else online.

The UPS tracking information was helpful and showed me both of my orders were shipped the same day I ordered them. Both were carefully boxed and packaged.

Beware of some other online deals where the price is too good to be true. They are criminals, plain and simple. Calumet is NOT one of those operations. I've seen negative feedback for them, but for my money there is no one better to deal with online."

"I have always had good luck with Calumet Photographic. Their staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. I have ordered several things in the past few months from the Los Angeles location and been treated exceptional on the phone. I have never ordered express shipping but usually get my things the next day. I just ordered a Canon 17-40 L series lens on Thursday the 29th of March and received it today, Friday March 30th. "Just a warning to everyone be wary of dealing with Calumet Photographic. I purchased a defective Sony Alpha 100 DSLR camera from them and they gave me the run around several times before refusing to exchange the camera altogethor.

I first called them to try and troubleshoot the problem the guy said he couldn't find a manual and that I should calll Sony and that if they confirm the camera was defective he would get another camera out to me. He gave me the wrong number but the number did connect me to a Sony person who then gave me the correct number to call so once I got a hold of them they ran me through resetting the camera etc.. before eventually telling me that it was defective and giving me a confirmation number. I said thanks very much called Calumet back and this time the person I spoke with was unavailable and the new person told me that they were not allowed to take returns on Sony cameras, they said it was Sony's rule not theirs and they couldn't help me I would have to send it to Sony for repair.

So now I call Sony back and I ask them what the deal is with this and they tell me that they will repair the camera no problems it will be around 10 days turnaround but that if the store I bought the camera from has a return policy that they should just ship me out a replacement. Wow I think to myself was Calumet lying to me?

I get back on the phone to Calumet, talk to another new person this time and they tell me no problem as long as Sony confirmed the camera was defective they would send out a replacement and for me to ship the defective one back to the store.

OK Great, I start boxing it back up to ship out and I get a call on my phone, Hi this is Calumet photo, I regret to inform you that we will be unable to replace your camera you will need to deal with Sony for repairs...

What in the world, I just bought the camera paid for express shipping and now I have to wait another 3 weeks to get it back from Sony before I can even use it?

I will not deal with Calumet Photo ever again it's bad enough that they do not stand behind the products they sell but on top of that they wasted 2 hours of my time giving me the runaround.

My apologies for ranting but I am extremely frustrated with the way this company has treated me and I would suggest looking elsewhere so you do not have to go through this same ordeal.
