"Robbed, like so many other poor souls. Ordered a CD -- after a week, when I hadn't gotten any word of it shipping, I emailed. They promptly responded that it was "delayed," and I could cancel it on their website anytime. A month and a half later I did. They sent me a very nice email saying that my order was canceled and that it takes -- you guessed it! -- up to 72 hours to process a refund. It has now been two weeks. My latest email to "Claire" and her response:

"So it's now been 10 days since I canceled and requested a refund from my month-and-a-half overdue order, 573864535_260059780351. You still owe me $22.76.

Please remedy this problem as soon as possible.

"DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SELLER. I waited 6 weeks for my CD's and received nothing. I cancelled the order three weeks ago and am still trying to get them to refund my money. Their customer service is terrible. All I am getting is the runaround. It is clear they are ripping off many of their customers."

"I ordered a new fuser unit for my laser printer on Dec 16, 2006. I have still yet to receive it, 35 days later! I need my printer daily for my business and without this part it won't work. Amazon told me I would have the fuser unit between December 26th and January 9th. I contacted caiman.com directly on Jan 12th, Jan 15th, Jan 16th (via their website) and again today Jan 19th inquiring about the whereabouts of my order. Each time I received the same exact automated email response and no shipping details. I tried contacting them via telephone, but their website lists no telephone number. I then found a toll free telephone number for them:***-***-****. When I called today I was told to wait until next week and see if it comes! Meanwhile, my credit card was charged on December 16th! I'm so upset and this is not acceptable to me. I have filed a complaint with Amazon and I hope they will discontinue doing business with caiman. I DO NOT RECCOMMEND THIS POOR COMPANY!!!"

"I am a Florida resident and ordered a movie DVD from CAIMAN through Amazon.com. DVD arrived 8 days later. It was coded Region 2 (PAL 2)for play outside of the US and would not play on my DVD players. No where in their DVD description, order confirmation or invoice did CAIMAN indicate the DVD was coded Region 2 or not for play in the US.In fact, no coding information was given. I advised CAIMAN of same and was told "you ordered a Region 2 encoded DVD. If you have opened the item it cannot be accepted for a return". They refuse to exchange, credit me or respond to my follow-up emails. BE AWARE of this company! They are not ethical. There are many similar complaints posted."

"Horrible customer service, deplorable communication, very deceptive in shipping dates/practices (or, if they even bother to ship your item: they may wait weeks to mail an order out, but they charge the day the order is placed!). Caiman has not answered multiple email querries regarding my order and they make it impossible to find a phone number to contact them. I stumbled on it after a web search for caiman.com and found many other customers in the same boat I'm in. Here is a number if you are having a problem: ***-***-****. "Caiman provided me with the most dishonest online transaction I've ever had. They took my money as soon as I ordered, but took 31 days to send the product. When I got it, one item was broken and rattling, the other was a non-functioning refurbished item, despite being sold as a new one. I contacted them immediately, and they sent back a form email:
"I am sorry to hear about the problem you experienced with your shipment. We need to schedule a pick-up with DHL. However, before we schedule the pick-up please provide the following information:
1. Pick-up address.
2. Preferred pick-up time frame.
Once the pick-up is scheduled you will be notified with further information."

So I did. But after three weeks they never scheduled a pickup. So I emailed again. Guess what they sent me? The exact same email. So I emailed again explaining "I already sent that info, but here it is again..." Here's what they sent me:
"Dear Customer,
We apologize for the delay in picking up your item.Please re-shedule.Thank you.
Sincerely,
Ana
Caiman Customer Service"

Please reschedule??? I'm waiting for THEM to schedule the pickup, as per their first three emails.

It's been three months, and I'm still out $278.00. Don't buy from these liars and cheats!

"NEVER BUY FROM CAIMAN.COM

Originally I had e-mailed them to ask if I could buy something from them using a money order since I do not have a credit card. "Claire" said that I could. She provided me with a P.O. Box. I didn't order from their website or through Amazon. I simply sent a letter stating what I wanted and enclosed my payment.

A month went by. I e-mailed "Claire". She responded by basically saying there was no record of my payment. I gave up. Now, five months later I am broke and I really need the $90. I have the serial number of the money order. I have been in contact with "Claire" again. The last email she sent me says: "Thank you for the notification". This is not very re-assuring.

The funny part is that when I made my order "Claire" was more than happy to provide a P.O. Box address where I could mail a money order. Now it seems Caiman.com has changed their policy. Now they only accept payment through Amazon.

"I have ordered CD's a couple times from Caiman via Amazon.com. I bought from them because they are in Florida (where I live) and because they were part of Amazon. Amazon sent me this email on the same day as my order... "The seller has agreed to ship by 26-October-2006.... Your order will be shipped via an Expedited Shipping method.....The arrival expectation is 3 to 6 business days"

Despite this, it took a MONTH to get the CD... and I had paid for "Expidited Shipping" to boot.

I will never buy from them again. Customer service was awful!

"Well, I, like many reviewers of caiman books, learned the hard way. I live in Switzerland but was in the states during the summer. On 8/2/06, I ordered a book which I needed by 8/16/06 (the day I was leaving Vermont for Ohio). I paid for 2-6 day delivery and, voila!, by 8/16, no book had arrived. I left word at the office that I would be in Ohio for 10 days and that the books should be forwarded to me. (Two other books, which I ordered via Amazon, were forwarded in plenty of time.) Of course, the caiman books order didn't arrive while I was in Ohio. Now I'm back in Switzerland, had to pay the equivalent of $58 (the book costs $35 in the states), and my parents in Ohio haven't received the book yet. Hmmmm, two months late (although caiman claimed to have sent it). Amazing. NEVER purchase anything from those lame-brains.

"Since discovering Caiman on Amazon Marketplace, I buy all my R1 DVDs from them.
The items are usually dispatched the following day, and arrives within the estimated timeframe,
in perfect shape due to the good packaging.

I'd say these other reviewers just got unlucky. Look at Caiman's positive ratings on Amazon.com and
Amazon.co.uk: 91% and 94%, respectively.

It takes one or two first time bad experiences to give a bad review on a site like this.
The lucky majority usually don't bother; their minds is on what they purchased, not the purchase.
How come so many good reviews on Amazon? I guess it's the reminder coupled with the convenience
of the email received by marketplace buyers after every purchase, containing a link to the page
were you can give your review.

Also, most of the sub-excellent ratings on Amazon are due to late delivery. (Hello they can't
control the Postal system, the Universe, and Everything, either.)

Based on my own experience and the more reliable ratings on Amazon, I recommend this seller.

"I purchased a DVD from Caiman via their Amazon presence. This particular DVD is out of print and very hard to find and so I was delighted to discover it a Caiman. Purchasing from a US reseller you naturally expect to get an NTSC format DVD. So naturally, I opened it and put it in the player. What I received, however, was a Region 2 PAL format DVD. Since I opened the packaging -- one would hardly expect me to first check to make sure it wasn't a Europen format when ordering from a US based reseller -- they flatly refuse to exchange it or let me return it. Essentially, they stuck me with something that they probably knew in advance wouldn't get discovered until they could cover their [certain part of their anatomy] with the mantra "If you have opened the item it cannot be accepted for a return. We apologize for the inconvenience."

I'll never purchase an item from Caiman again, and I recommend buyer beware or better yet, avoid them at all costs.

"DO NOT ORDER FROM CAIMAN.COM. I ordered one book from them on Abebooks.com. I ordered the book on 8/20 and even expedited it. They continued to tell me the book was processing until last Friday I emailed them. They said the book was out of stock and I could cancel the item. When I went to cancel the item it said it had shipped. It was suppossed to ship on 8/28, but I still have not received. I ordered several books on Amazon.com and did not expedite any of the items. I received all the items from the sellers on amazon.com, but the one expedited item from Caiman.com I have not received. I need this book for class next week and I am officially fustrated. I want to cancel my item, but I hope that it is actually on its way.
DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM. IT IS A WASTE OF TIME.
I could not vent my fustration on abebooks.com so I am doing it here.

"DO NOT USE CAIMAN.COM!!! I placed an order for a school text book through Abebooks.com and ended up buying from Caiman. After waiting over a week for my order (which I paid the extra for faster shipping) I kept seeing that the order was 'processing'. I found this site and canceled my order with them. They told me my refund would take about 72 hours. It has been almost a week and I still have not been refunded.

The customer service at Caimin.com is awful. They use automated responses to your emails, and there is no contact information on their website!

"Hopefully I've caught you in time. I recently ordered something for my father's birthday (which is 7/22). I placed the order through Abebooks.com on 7/16, which told me my estimated delivery time was 2-6 days. If I got the item in 6 days, that would be just enough time for Dad's b-day. I paid EXTRA for the faster shipping. Abebooks.com connected me to Caiman.com, their supplier for this item. It said the item was located in Florida, and since I'm in Massachusetts, the package shouldn't take that long to arrive. Since I'm pretty impatient, I logged into Caiman's website to make sure my package had been shipped. For three days it said "processing." We all know that "processing" does not mean "shipped," so I tried to contact Caiman. There is NO PHONE NUMBER AT ALL! I wrote them a few e-mails which I was supposed to have answered in 24 hours, but that never happened. I previously asked them a question about the color of he item I ordered and they never got back to me on that, either. Anyway, I figured I'd contact Abebooks.com (another one with no phone number ... I had to call the media department) since they already debited my MC for the money for the item. They told me that if it goes past 48 hours, they themselves can send a message to the supplier asking them to get back to me ASAP. I finally start getting answers from Caiman. The first e-mail I received was something like, "Your order is still processing." It was one of those generic message. WTF, right? Then I got a message regarding my question about the color of my item. It said, "Please read your item description for further details." Whatever. I later checked the Caiman.com site and it said that my item was "in transit" and that the ETA for delivery was 7/24. I NEED THIS BY 7/22!!! I went to Abebooks.com and checked to see what ETA they had and they had a delivery date of 7/25. UNACCEPTABLE! Why did I pay for shipping in 2-6 days if they weren't going to send it? I start freaking. There had to be a phone number for Caiman.com. THANKS TO THIS SITE, I found a contact number. I called them and I finally got a rep. She looked up my item and I asked her why I would receive it on 7/24 and not 7/22 like I expected. She said, "Uh ... your item hasn't even been shipped." I told her what Caiman.com had posted on their site under "track your order" but she told me that they were wrong. I said, "Well, what should I do?" She said it could take anywhere from 2 days to a MONTH to get my order. I asked her to look up a possible tracking number since Abebooks.com also said that my item was shipped (I figured she just didn't know what she was talking about) but then she shocked me. She said, "Do you want to cancel the order?" I said no, but she insisted and said, "Maybe you should just cancel. I would." HELLO? Don't they want business? The Caiman.com rep just told me to cancel. I said, "GLADLY!" She told me that I would be sent a confirmation e-mail and that my refund of over $100 should be processed in 24-72 hours. THAT IS NOT THE WORST PART! I asked for a supervisor and she said that she didn't have one. I asked her if she was the boss of the whole company (not having a boss and all) but she said no. I asked to speak to someone else but she said that there was no one there. She said she was in a room alone and that she was the first one to arrive for work that day. WTF???? I hang up with her and call Abebooks.com. They told me that the supplier (Caiman) has to cancel the order. The best part was when the Abebooks.com rep took my call and looked up my item number, she reads, "You ordered 'The Rise and Fall of the British Empire,' right?" Um ... no. Anyway, she told me that I should wait to hear from Caiman despite the fact that Abebooks.com is the one who debited my MC. Nonetheless, I get an e-mail from Caiman that read "a request for a refund will be processed in 24-72 hours." Oh well, I guess my Dad isn't getting a b-day gift for 24-72 hours. HERE IT IS ... THE BEST PART. My bank called me. Suspicious charges from Amazon.com have shown up on my debit card. The first one was for $1.00 something and the next one was for $143.00. The bank held the charges because they looked suspicious and so they were calling me to find out if I had made those purchases. I told her the only charge I authorized for my debit card was the $100+ order to Abebooks.com. She said that was approved, but she would have to cancel my card because apparently someone had taken the number and was using it to buy stuff on Amazon.com. I NEVER had this problem before ordering from Abebooks/Caiman.com. Seriously, never go through either of them. I'm almost positive that I'm going to have to chase these sons-of-b*tches down for my damn refund. I'm so annoyed. DON'T USE THEM! Use Barnes and Noble, eBay, Amazon ... one of the well-known organizations. Caiman sucks.

"Terrible! I ordered 2 books from them in the same order. They shipped me one (the cheaper and smaller of the two) book immediatly, but I never recieved the other book. I contacted them through email and recieved a response saying that the book was out of stock! Gee, thanks for letting me know, especially since you have ALREADY CHARGED ME FOR THE BOOK AND SHIPPING! I asked them to cancel and immediatly refund for the unshipped book. Then they email me back saying the first book had shipped and they couldn't refund (for the first book) unless I returned it! Well, I just want a refund for the book you never sernt me! This was a terrible experience and a big mistake!"
