"After reading reviews, I see a trend of not delivering what is paid for and promised. I'm not speaking of much money on my item, but when repeated on a large scale it becomes a large sum of money. It is poor business practice and needs to be stopped. "

"I placed an order for a recent Criterion edition of the DVD "Marat/Sade." I have been getting the "backorder" runaround for two months. Their "Track It" and "Order Status" features are worthless. Their customer service is nonexistent."

"On 18 August I ordered the following book through the Amazon market place:
Hacker Disassembling Uncovered 2nd ed. by Kris Kaspersky,

The only and only reason why I placed this order was that Amazon market place advertised that "Multiple copies were available" from Caiman.
I have previously tried to buy this book from at least 50 different suppliers worldwide, but without any success, and none of the later can give a definite answer if and when this book will be reprinted.

After receiving the payment confirmation from Amazon, to my surprize their tracking
system now shows an estimated delivery date of Sep 17 2008 - Nov 6 2008!!!!!

The Caiman tracker does not give any useful information at all and just says that the order is being processed!!

I already send 3 e-mails to their customer service dept. to find out if they have a
copy available, and when they will ship the book, but they bluntly refuse to reply!
This all tells me that Caiman does not have a copy for sale, and is either waiting for somebody to sell a second hand one, or until the publisher issues a reprint.

Amazon refuses to intervene and mentiones that I will have to try to resolve any issues directly with the Seller. This however is difficult if the later just bluntly refuses to communicate!!

As far as I am concerned this was my first and last experience with Caiman, because their customer service is non existing; one big "0" and they can stick it where the sun doesn't shine!!

"I have ordered 3 times from Caiman - the first 2 without incident. I ordered a book on the 24th March, not arriving after 3 weeks - I emailed. The response was 'wait another 7 days there was a delay in shipping due to postal dispute. April 22nd - still no sign; emailed them - response 'book is lost - would I like refund or replacement'. I want the book, so replacement was my answer. 20th May - still no book; emailed them - response 'we cannot track books throught the US postal service'. I feel that I have missed my opportunity of a refund and beginning to doubt I will ever see the book. It was only £18 for this one - however,they will not see any more orders from me (I spend around £50 a month on books) - lost revenue for Caiman???"

"I'm wondering if perhaps they ship the DVD orders much faster than anything else because I certainly don't see the other items being on time when I look at Amazon feedback.

I ordered an expresscard from Caiman on March 22nd, 2008 which was supposed to ship between the 25-27th of March.

I contacted them to see if the item had shipped and when I didn't receive a response I contacted them again to find out if they were going to respond and when did the item ship.

Next thing I know, I received an email saying they cancelled my order. Mind you this is 10 days after I originally placed the order.

Now I have to find another vendor and wait another 7 days on top of the 10 day frame they hit me with.

Unfortunately this was an item that I really needed to have and now I'm screwed no thanks to their poor customer service.

And for someone to only have a 94% or 91% rating, duh! that is not a good thing!

"I placed an order for a CD and was informed by an email it would be delivered by the 12th. Every day when I checked the status (it was a gift, I wanted it to arrive in time), I was told it was "in transit". Finally, I had it because it's never taken almost 20 days for a CD to ship. I contacted them and was told they have no control over when their suppliers running out of stock. Well, I already had an email telling me it was sent out. I demanded my money back and would not recommend for ANYONE to use this company. Their customer service is not helpful either. I cannot believe they are tied to Amazon."

"I wish I had read all of these before ordering from Caiman!

I can't even find the words to describe their service! Frankly I am shocked that AMAZON.COM even recommends them as a retailer!

Placed my order on Jan 17, and they emailed me the next day to confirm that they've "shipped" my order and that it'll take 4-10 business days. I thought because my address is in NZ this may take a couple of days longer even though orders through other retailers haven't.

I emailed customer service as I hadn't received anything yet, so they told me that "sometimes it takes up to 17 business days".. after another email asking them to track my parcel to find out where it's at, the same Customer Service representative informed me that "it might take up to 21 business days"

I emailed again and asked the third time and asked them to track my parcel and told them I was unhappy and really disappointed as it was a birthday gift, their reponse this morning was

"Dear Customer, Sometimes the USPS may take 21 business days. If you have not received your order by 2/20/2008 please contact me. Sincerely, xxxxx Caiman Customer Service"

If only I had known. I wouldn't have ordered through them! I don't understand how they are still in business?!

NOT HAPPY at all. And I feel for everyone who is going through the same problem.

What is there to do apart from sit there stewing over it? They have NO details on their website apart from the terrible email contact.

Also apparently you can check the "status" of your order... well you can't. Because there's no details about your order online. unless I'm blind!

"I ordered a CD from this Amazon reseller and was told it was shipped on 1/4. One month later I have still not received it and their customer service is indifferent (slow return of emails, no answers, refusal to communicate by phone). They are clearly fly-by-night. I am only hoping I can get a refund via Amazon. Frankly, I am surprised Amazon puts up with this level of service from a reseller. "

"I ordered a cd and a box set from this store through Amazon. The cd arrived after one or two weeks and I had no complaints about its shape, apart from the fact that the jewel case was broken. However, today I received a package which was supposed to contain the Megadeth Warchest box set. Instead of receiving a dvd which would not play in my dvd player, a problem which many customers have complained about, my package actually contained nothing at all, apart from an empty dvd tray. This happened today, so I haven't had any nasty experiences with the customer service yet, but this experience is enough for me to post a rating. I'm filing a claim through Amazon as soon as I can and I've already mailed "Claire". Geez, I wonder what those automated e-mails are gonna say in response to this situation."

"I purchased a DVD from Tower.com. When I finally got around to playing the DVD, it stated it could "not be played in this domain." I have since learned that this DVD is meant for European, not American, DVD players. I have contacted Tower.com customer service several times and have gotten nowhere. I am not asking for a refund but a replacement DVD. I was looking online to try to find a corporate address, to write directly to them, as I am getting nowhere online. I came across this website and was not surprised as I started to read of the many similar complaints/experiences. It confirms my feeling/suspicion that my requests are falling on deaf ears. I ordered from Tower Records for many years without problems. Clearly, Tower.com will not provide the same service. I will not be ordering from them again. I still intend to write to the parent company in Montreal and give it one last try but after reading the comments here I am not hopeful. Thank you for sharing your experiences and comments."

"I have used Caiman many times over the last 3 years (through Amazon), their delivery times have never been the best. Recently their customer services department (mis-named) has proven to be offhand and unhelpful, even when asked for simple company information.
I think its fair to say that I will never use them again.

"I purchased a Christmas CD by Jim Brickman from this company. I should have read the reviews and done my homeworkmore carefully because Caiman sucks ass. Their customer service is horrible and the company, as a whole, resembles an outsourcing nightmare. Why would a reputable company, such as Amazon, do business with such a shady organisation as Caiman? Doesn't Amazon read the reviews? Would it not be in Amazons better interest to cease doing business with Caiman? I'm only out about $10. but it's the principal of the thing. This place sucks the sweat off a dead man's balls. That says it all."

"I have ordered from Caiman before with no problem. On Thanksgiving I ordered a $100 DVD set. It came in rather short order. However, I placed a disc in the player and I was informed that the disc was in the "wrong region." On inquiry, I found that the discs were "Region 2." I have ordered hundreds of DVDs from Amazon (US), with no problem. Apparently I have a Region 1 player (typical, I believe, for US). A "Claire" from caiman informed me repeatedly that I could not return the item for refund because it was "opened." How else to find whether it plays? Who sells European-DVDs on US Amazon without making it abundantly clear of compatibility issues. I think it's a scam. All notes to "Claire" were summarily rejected: she suggested I buy a European DVD player! What arrogance!"
