One bad egg

"I’m not sure about the negative reviews for Boatstogo. I had nothing but a positive experience from start to finish and would highly recommend them to others. Most of these inflatables are manufactured in the same factory, Boatstogo just sells them at a much lower cost."

SD 518

"The SD518 turned out to be a bit bigger than expected, it should have been obvious that 18 feet long boat would be quite big. I have resorted to keeping the giant boat on a trailer so that it's easy to transport. Setting it up is a bit of a hassle the first time, so a couple more times after that I decided to keep it inflated and assembled. The boat is good I just need a second pair of hands to make the process a bit easier on my back.

The support email answers very quickly and are very helpful. The website is easy to use and order online, so I have very little bad things to say. It is a very economic store so make sure you take good care of your products.

I also purchased some of the accessories, a sun roof that is really nice and folds down and some extra seats. Not bad for one stop shop for inflatable stuff.

Bad customer service, won't honor manufactures warranty

"I bought a catamaran boat that arrived in good shape. After taking it out several times I noticed a gap between the inflatable floor and the transom at one corner. The other corner was tight up against each other. I didn’t think much about this until I built 2 wood bench seats with side rails and attached a Bimini to the rails. That is when I noticed my bench seats didn’t fit right or square in the boat. I took some measurements of the boat and discovered it was shaped like a trapezoid instead of a rectangle.

I also tried 3 different outboard motors on it, all made between 1089 to 2021. The newest motor was able to trim out OK to get the boat up on plan after moving all the weight up front. The other 2 older 2 stroke motors would not get the bow down. I discovered that the transom has an angle of 5-7 degrees, the older motors need an angle of 12-18 degrees to trim out and plan right.

I also had one of the drain valves leak due to the internal rubber valve popping out and was lost. When I contacted them for a replacement part then didn’t have any and directed me to Amazon to buy a whole valve to rob of its valve.

They also charge $20 for a single phone call for any technical support other than the back and forth of emails.

They explained the trapezoid shape was due to me not inflating the boat correctly and that I should move the tubes to make it more rectangle then inflate it and the floor will hold the shape correctly. Well the way the transom is glued to the side tubes doesn’t allow for any movement to them so moving one tube forward or backward to fix the rectangle shape is out of the question.

They refused to admit the boat was not assembled to the quality standards most boat owners would expect. Having one tube 3” forward more than the other one making the trapezoid shape is like driving down a straight road and having to turn the wheel clockwise a little bit to drive straight forward.

The constantly made the point that the boat is a year old and that I made holes in the transom and added the bench seats which voided the warranty. Customizing a boat or making improvements that don’t involve modifying any of the glued seams don’t void the warranty. That is what owners do to improve on the ride or boating experience. The bolt holes in the transom were required to add shims to improve on the transom angle to allow the boat to plan out using the older 2 stroke motors.

They tried everything they could to avoid replacing my defect boat that doesn’t go straight when the engine is perpendicular to the transom, I always have to drive it with engine turned clockwise a few degrees. I suspect this added drag with engine making a thrust a few degrees out of line with the pontoons is impact its ability to plan out quickly and reducing my top end speed. Only way to prove it is to put everything on my boat onto a new boat and take it out on a test run to compare top speed and planing speed.

They also indicated that I may need to ship the boat back to them for inspection which cost about $170. Given their responses so far they would most likely come up with some excuses like they have been to avoid replacing the defective boat.

I would never purchase another boat from these folks again due to very poor customer service that is only available at no cost via email.

I have all the emails to verify what I have said and can provide them upon request.

Bought 2 boats, wish I could buy more

"I was really surprised and happy with the customer service first off and foremost. Quick response to emails, even after business hours and weekends. I was shopping for 2 different white water crafts and had a billion specific questions, and the only company that responded to me was boats to go every single time. That speaks volumes to me.
As for the products, I bought the rd 365xl and the cr 350 and I am really happy with both of them. They are now made in Germany, and the quality of the boats feel just as good as their competitors at 1/4 the cost. Small down side, I do not like the floors in both boats but that is easily rectifiable, it is just my preference but nothing wrong with them. The seams are bomber, the boats feel stout, albeit I have not been on the river on them yet, I will go soon and write another review.
After hearing and reading things from people with 10k dollar set ups, I realized that honestly these boats are just as good for what our adventuring needs at a fraction of the cost and we can build them up to whatever we need. I am really happy so far. Will let you know how everything works after we get them on the water.

Good experience

"I bought my Saturn inflatable about 1 year ago and gave it some time to see if it held up, so far so good. The company is very active and its customer service department answers quickly through email. I had overall a very good experience with the product and the purchase/delivery was very smooth.

I am very happy with my inflatable boat

"I have been using Saturn boats for about 15 years now. Very good quality boats, even given lower pricing than others. I changed 3 boats over years. They last pretty good. I do use my boats almost every weekend, to do fishing. Sometime boat can be punctured, if some sharp push into it. But very easy to fix."

Kayak Saturn loss of air through the interior of a cone.

"Lack of subsidiary responsibility, due to a manufacturing defect in the most robust area of the boat and that came out over time.

Both seller and reseller do not want to be held responsible.

I expose the latest e-mail exchanges, omitting names and addresses, to comply with the rules dictated by the platform:

Good morning Mr. - - -

Since Sunday, when he answered me, I have been reflecting on the facts and the recommendations you have given me, and although it is within the law, I do not see it as reasonable.

It is as if you had a car, which has been used extremely little, and after the warranty period, without any logical cause, a wheel axle breaks. It is not reasonable. There has to be a serious deficiency in the manufacture, which in time has to appear.

If I have no other alternative, I will have no choice but to do what you say so as not to have to throw the kayak in the trash or use it always having that deficiency. I understand that it is not logical for the boats to break in this area, it is the most robust. I'm afraid to make a repair of this magnitude, which I don't see logic and leave it even worse.

The kayak has not been abused, it has not been punctured, it has been used extremely little. It has been stored all these years in a cool, dry place. And I've picked it up again now that I'm retired.

I request your reply.

Gratefully, yours sincerely.

Hello

Please clarify what kind of advice or solution you are looking for? I am not clear.
If you have slow leak in 1 location, you can fix it and keep using that kayak.
If you don’t want to fix it, then you can discard that kayak. I do not see any other options here.

Best Regards

**********

Good afternoon

It was the answer I expected from you in a manufacturing deficiency.

I'm not asking you to give me anything.

I have already explained how the kayak has been used and what I have found through no fault of my own.

Thank you very much for your attention.

Great boat! I love it.

"I have had my Saturn SD330W for about 3 weeks now and I have had it out on the water twice for some log river and lake cruises. This is my first inflatable boat and everyone I told about my purchase thought I would immediately be eaten by an alligator and the boat would sink. This boat is tough! Once you see it in person you will realize how well constructed the Saturn boats are. My wife who was very skeptical now loves cruising on the water and taking in the views. 3 separate tube chambers, an inflatable keel and an air floor make it very safe. I have no worries about sinking or a tube puncture, the material is very strong. I have a new 6hp Suzuki that pushes it along fine but is a bit slow with 6hp since I opted for the wide version of the SD330. If you are looking for speed more HP is what you need. My current setup is a cruiser, perfect for a leisurely cruise up a river or on a lake, not land speed records. I have had 4 people aboard with room to spare. I actually carry the entire boat in my subcompact 3 cylinder Mitsubishi Mirage with room for a passenger, the engine and everything else. With the transom wheels I am able to set it up and get the boat in and out of the water with ease by myself. Using a high pressure pump it only takes about 30 min to get ready. This boat is great and I am already looking to purchase a Saturn KaBoat for a trip to the Keys and Everglades. "

Great Communication

"BoatsToGo has been great at answering ALL of my questions (and I had many). I have received responses to my emails in 24 hours or less. My boat came with all the paperwork needed to register it in my state and I had no issue. Quality seems solid and my maiden journey was a success! I look forward to learning the ins and outs of my specific boat (I purchased the M-Dock) as I take it out more and more. BTG has a great website with FAQ answers to almost any question you may have --- and for questions not listed, Eliot seems to always be available to offer some input or try his best to answer. I'd recommend this company. "

Mixed at best, no one actually answers the phone there

"I purchased an inflatable boat without too much of a problem, yet the shipment by FedEx was terrible, the box was apparently torn open somehow and some things missing.
Eliot has been difficult at best to work with. He (understandably) wanted pictures but waited until two days later to ask for more, after the box and packing was discarded.

This has turned into a quagmire at best and more difficult to work with only emails. I would say, you would be better off to simply deal with a company that actually has true phone support.

The boat looks like good quality, but I cannot use it as all the parts are not there yet. I am wondering how long this will take to resolve. I gave them 3 stars as they are trying, I might change that to 4 or 5 if things go well. Or maybe down to 1. Time will tell.

I cannot get anyone to call me back, and the calls are answered by a "service" which simply says that all communications are done via EMAIL, and there is actually no phone support.

Lowest price but finest service

"Upon the research of a whole winter season, I decided to purchase a Saturn inflatable boat for the coming spring and summer. My FB300 is so versatile that I will use it to enjoy river/lake cruising and fishing. I can't say more how envy other is when I set it up on the dock. I will definitely recommend anyone to get a Saturn for its durability, versatility, and affordability. I actually contact multiple sellers of Saturn and found out Boatstogo is the best given its lowest price and finest service. My order got shipped right after I placed it. Also, Elliot is very responsible and gives me great advice. I am also pre-ordering an air-deck floor as an alternative option. "
