"Bikeman or Bath ski and bike is a scam internet site. They dont have the parts they are selling but they will take your money anyway. Then send you an email asking if you want your money back because they never had what they said they were selling. Comlpete garbage web site. "

GREAT EXPERIENCE AND PRODUCT

"no idea what people here are complaining about. My experience with Bikeman.com was great, ESPECIALLY considering they're a small independent shop with an online store component.

I communicated with them up front via email about a product I was curious about. They answered my questions quickly and clearly.

Purchased product for price expected, it shipped faster than anticipated and was exactly what I was looking for.

Great shop. Great experience. Anyone complainaing here is probably so used to big AMAZON like purchases with vast support teams to answer their every little question. This is not that. It's an honest shop selling great products at solid prices.

Will definitely use again as I rebuild more bikes.

Sold me a defective product and they want me to pay for return

"I bought a 11t -50t cassette and the 50 tooth was warped. Which means that when u use that gear it will constantly want 2 shift to another gear. Have u ever tried 2 cl9mb a mountain and have ur gears jump ! It hurts and that is what this cassette will do. I actually tested this cassette on a flat glass substrate and found that the gear is warped by .035" so it will definitely want to jump to another gear. I made a video of this and sent it 2 them and they want me 2 pay 2 return it and they may or may not refund the shipping and they will may or may not decide whether it's defective or not. Oh and i NEVER MOUNTED THIS CASSETTE So either either way u look at it I'm going to pay alot or extra money out of my pocket because they sent me a defective part. I will never buy anything from anyone that won't give the benifit of dought 2 the buyer. A good company would send another replacement free of charge and send a prepaid postage with it for the return product. Nope not this company. Thats why I'm telling u to be very careful with ordering from this company. Because what u buy (good or bad) Ur going 2 B stuck with.

"I am so greatful to have contacted Carver bicycles for help on a costom project.
A bicycle is a very personal thing especially if you have come to the point that you are raeching out to manufacturs and fabricators to assist you in acheiving your vision. So after having made some hasty decisions and missplaced trust in a prominant fabricator and manufacturer lead to an incomplete bicycle and some unwanted complications due to personality issues, coming into contact with Davis Carver and carver bicycles has been nothing short of a god send as he has been nothing but helpful and profesional and easy to work with.
With his upbeat can do attitude and creative solutions he has really helped turn things around and get me headed toward completing the bike of my dreams and I am greatful. The work I have recieved so far has been fantastic and delivered in a timely manner. I really feel comfortable moving forward with having work done now because he has been up front about everything and seems to have a genuine interest in my project and seeing it completed.
Also It was nice to have been contacted by Davis personally and have him taking care of business and coming up with creative solutions without letting his ego get in the way which is what you might expect from someone who has his name on the side of his own line of bicycles, but its been great working with him.
I have a custom cruiser bicycle that now has the perfect pair of much needed titanium forks and soon to be matching pair of custom Ti handle bars..I have also been helped with a bottom bracket solution for an off sized spindle and a creative fix with a headset upgrade. And plans have been drawn up for a Titanium frame....
Davis Carver and Carver bicycles has definitely earned my business.

"Slow shipping is my biggest complaint with Bikeman. If you're running a good online retail site, there is absolutely no reason you can't ship something within 24 hours after getting an order. I suspect that Bikeman doesn't stock most of its products. They probably receive and order and then order the product from a bike parts distributor. This is why it takes a week to ship products, not the best way to do business. Ordered the part on Nov 1st and received it on Nov 9th. Considering they are in Maine and I'm on Boston, it should've taken a couple days to get my order.

On the other hand, shipping prices were reasonable and they did get me a small, hard to find part. I don't think I'll order form them in the future, unless they were the only ones to have the part I needed.

"Your typical online retaler who advertises items they don't actually have in stock. They immediately charged me for an item they didn't actually have. I would stay away from them for online orders! I ordered an item that took almost a month to deliver despite advertising it as in stock with a 2-3 day delivery. I had to contact them twice to ask for a status update, because they never contacted me. They responded they had to order it?!? I'm sorry Bikeman, but in this online world there is no need for an unresponsive middleman as yourself. My advice, skip these inefficient twits and order directly or go through Amazon who most likely has it cheaper and doesn't charge if they don't have it in stock."

"Bikeman rocks! I've been doing business with Bikeman for over a dozen years. The owner, Davis Carver, and his crew have always treated me fair and done my bikes justice. I can always get the best pricing with Bikeman and no other bike shop in the Bath/ Freeport/ Portland area can hold a candle to Bikeman when it comes to service. The mechanics are very knowledgeable and are thorough with their work. I wouldn't go other LBS - when I make the mistake of doing so, I am always disappointed."

"I purchased a Salsa Mukluk II build-up. I was pleased with the build quality and componenet gruppo that they used. It was the same componenets or better than the OEM put on their build list. They communicated quickly over email to get approvals for the substitutions necessary due to limited availability.

The build-up was shipped in the original QBP box. There were a few scratches and scrapes that could have been prevented with a little more securing of the items in the box-but there was no physical damage to any componenets. The chain was left on the frame and rear reraileur and did not survivve shippinmg well. it was kinked and bound such thta I had to push 3 pins out to get it installed. I shared this with their rep that was in touch with me through the whole process and they sent out a replacement chain in a day. I am very pleased with the bike. I am a below average bike mechanic and I was able to get it fully assembled in about 3 hours. This is my second mail order experience in a full bike build-up purchase and I am very pleased with the engagaement and timeliness of the service Bikeman provided. I would recommend them to others and will probably go back in the future.

"I ordered a part that was supposed to be in under a week. When I called on the day they said it would be in the woman who answered acted like it was an inconvenience that I called and said that they would contact me. Over a week later (the order took 14 business days total), I called in bc no one called me. The guy who answered said, "Oh yeah, that's been here for like a day or so...Whoops, sorry about that." Clearly I knew that was going to happen.When I got to the store the place was a dusty shoe box of a shop. They did, however, have a sweet line-up of bikes that were crammed into an enclosed wrap around porch area. One of the parts I order that was supposed to be metal was plastic. The only reason I bought it was bc the guy convinced me to replace the plastic part already on my bike with a metal one, only to order the very same plastic part. I had a question about the other part and the kid in the shop was no help nor did he make the slightest effort to get the answer. In closing, I give these guys two flat, 29er tires with stan's sealant oozing out and taco-ed rims as a rating. "
